Cozy Italian restaurant off the beaten path in the heart of the North End. Friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff too. Nonna’s meatball was fantastic. The sauce was very good. The scallops, shrimp limoncello was amazing. Fresh fish and great noodles too. I will return to this restaurant in the future.
The food and service was fantastic! My parents love going to Italian restaurants and this is now their favorite one in Boston. We started with a fabulous antipasto and I had an espresso martini - one of the best I have ever had. Then my dad and I shared linguine with clams and vinegar peppers with chicken and sausage. My mom had the chicken broccoli penne in a garlic and oil sauce. Everything was delicious!
Service is great! Bianca will make you feel at home, totally cater to all your wants & needs. I had the amazing homemade linguine pasta with shrimp & scallops and they made it light on the cream sauce for me. They have gluten free penne option. Highly recommend. Last photo is of the lasagna, Bolognese. Chefs kiss.. delish.
Absolutely amazing experience all around! Food was superb, service was spectacular (shoutout to Bianca, she’s the best), we had an amazing night. Would rate a thousand star review if we could :)
This has been my favorite place in the north end for many years. It was a busy Friday night and we didn’t have a reservation, but were lucky enough to score two seats at the bar downstairs. We enjoyed Clams Casino and Artichoke Margarita for appetizers . Our main dishes were Escarole Fagioli and the Shrimp Margarita. Everything was absolutely delicious! Our bartender/server Marysa was so much fun to talk to as well as delivering impeccable service. They offer a wonderful wine selection and full bar. Lots of North End energy in the atmosphere. Thanks for a great night!
What an awesome Italian dinner experience. Everything was amazing -- octopus was perfect, burrata was great, the meatball is out of this world, calamari is solid. The wait staff was so great and even recommended a good wine that was below my target price.
Came here off a random chance and a google search. Didn’t have a reservation and it was a game night and they still managed to squeeze us in. Experience was overall great. First served bread with really good oil. You have to order Nanas meatball - our group doesn’t even like meatballs and we were extremely impressed with this. For our main dishes we order a dish on special with a vodka sauce and scallops/shrimp. This had the best scallops we have ever tried. Next we ordered the lobster ravioli which had really nice portions of lobster. We also order shrimp scampi and gnocchi. Overall really liked everything we had and definitely would not hesitate to come back. Small and cute atmosphere and nice and friendly staff.
In Boston’s North End Italian restaurant is a hidden gem. I’ve been to 5 different Italian restaurants in the area and Massimino’s is my favorite hands down! I’m always on the hunt for a great authentic Italian restaurant, which is very hard to find nowadays, unfortunately! The inside is small but they do have seating downstairs. The smaller setting allows for a more 1:1 feel. There are folding doors that open to allow fresh air to come in which I enjoy! The bathrooms are clean and the inside was fairly clean. The service was average. My waitress Katrina was polite and checked in on me. She asked if I had questions about the menu. The food was fresh and authentic. I got an Aperol Spritz, Bruschetta that had fresh cut tomatoes and garlic, main meal was Penne Al vodka sauce, and I finished with a cannoli. Everything was made to perfection with all fresh tasting ingredients. This was my fourth visit to Massimino’s and every time is better than the last visit! I highly recommend giving Massimino’s a try, it’s completely worth the walk/drive! Until next time….cheers 🥂
After reading some of the great reviews we decided to give Massimino’s a try. It did not disappoint. My 10 year old decided to go out of her comfort zone with the Chicken and Sausage with red peppers. She absolutely loved it. My middle son, the pasta eater in the family, was absolutely in heaven with his chicken and broccoli alfredo. For starters we ordered antipasto and mixed greens that came on a charcuterie board as well as a meatball( the meatball is from another planet. It was soooo good…in fact we ordered an additional one to go). I had the lasagna and my oldest had ravioli with mixed vegetables. The service was prompt and our server was super nice as well as the owner/manager who checked in on us. The space was intimate and patio seating is available in good weather. I have not had Italian food as good as Massimino’s. The last great Italian we had was in New York City and Massimino’s beats that hands down. Not even close. At $20-30 a plate you get SOOOO much food that you can have two meals. We had our leftovers for dinner! You will not be disappointed! You will be glad you went.
Simply the best Italian restaurant in all the north end of Boston. Family owned and operated, we have been coming here for years. We have never been disappointed, the food is always 100% awesome and I cannot highly recommend this restaurant anymore than I already have. You must get here.
Bianca was amazing ! She made this an unforgettable dinner and guided as through the menu options. What a great personality! All the specials sounded amazing. Recommended the best bottle of wine. We will be back and ask for Bianca again! We loved the Lobster ravioli and the pork chop vinegar and peppers!
We accidentally stumbled upon this place while on a day trip quick visit to Boston. EVERYTHING about this place was PERFECT! The staff, the atmosphere, and the food... oh my lord, the FOOD was a INCOMPARABLE. I have only had chicken piccata that good 1 other time in my life! If I lived in Boston, I would be as big as the side of a house because I know I would be eating here at least twice a week!
Came in the other day for the first time. Cozy little spot. I had the veal parm. Tender. Juicy. The sauce was superb. My waitress was very friendly and perfectly attentive. Her name was Bianca so I'd recommend asking for her if possible. She didn't overly check up on us but I never had to wait for a refill or extra napkins. Can't wait to go back.
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner at Massimino’s last night. The food was absolutely incredible, and the atmosphere was perfect. The highlight of our evening was the exceptional service we received from Bianca. She was so knowledgeable, kind, and made us feel genuinely welcome. We can’t wait to come back soon — especially to see her again!
Pros: Nonna’s meatballs is one of the best dishes I have tried in the North End. Would definitely go back for those. Service was good. Attentive but not intrusive or overly chatty. If you make eye contact anyone will come to assist. Sauce is a solid red sauce. Sunday gravy style. Cons: Would like a better quality bread. Table and red pepper shakers were sticky. Between guests they could do a bit more cleaning. Will be back again to try another few dishes.
Anais provided exceptional service to us even hand picked me some chili peppers 🌶️ from out front because I asked to try them. She didn’t have to do that but it pleased me that she did. Atmosphere was pretty good, felt old school and rustic which was good feeling. Food wasn’t that great however, the food was a pretty small portion size for the price, the sauce carried this place to a 3 star food rating from me but I wouldn’t return, unless it was for more of Anais’s peppers.
I made reservations here for a date night, and it was not what I had expected at all. I always love going to the North End, but I was disappointed. First of all, we were sat downstairs where it smelled of chlorine, which was very odd. The tables were so close together we mind as well have been at the same table. The service was not great at all, we weren't even greeted with a hello. Our waiter just placed a bottle of water on the table and we didn't see him again for another 10 minutes. We ordered an appetizer which came in 5 minutes (weird) and followed by the food 2 minutes later. The food was scorching hot which tells me that it was definitely microwaved because it came out so quickly. The food is way overpriced, even for the North End. I would definitely NOT come back here. Server was lucky he even got a 15% tip because we hardly saw him at all, he was on his phone. Would not waste your money here.
Don't go. It's not worth your time. We were really excited for my friend's birthday dinner here. We specifically requested a table in the basement/wine cellar. We were seated at a tiny table upstairs instead. We ordered the fried burrata. It arrived still frozen in the middle. When I asked about it, I was told that is how it's supposed to be served. Definitely skip it, not great, mediocre at best. Ordered the fresh papperdelle Carbonara. A carbonara it was not!! It was a Romano pasta without the peas. Good, but in absolutely no way a Carbonara. Fresh pasta was excellent. Ordered the stuffed veal chop with potatoes and asparagus. Veal was well cooked but super under seasoned. And also, it only came with 3 small potato wedges and only 1 piece of asparagus cut into 1 inch pieces. Our server was under informed on all menu items and extremely pushy with the drink list, of which she could provide absolutely zero insight. A poor excuse of an "Italian" restaurant. Go elsewhere.
I just left the restaurant and wanted to share my experience. The food was great and met expectations; however, the staff interaction was concerning. While dining, I overheard what appeared to be a cook and a server arguing, and one staff member was using very vulgar language toward another. There were children at my table, as well as other families with children in the restaurant, who could hear the exchange. I hope this is an issue that can be addressed, as it affected the overall dining experience. No woman should be spoken to like that, ESPECIALLY BY A MAN! thank you
Party of 2. Food was ok. We were there under a hour. First time we ever experienced a restaurant telling us no dessert available when we asked for a dessert menu at the end of our meal. Waiter said they could offer us coffee which we got. A few minutes later we noticed table across from us was served dessert. Called our waiter over and asked what’s up..told us they were trying to turn tables due to large crowd and over booking… the other waiter wasn’t following instructions…. Won’t be back
