Great service, great food. We went on a Thursday evening. Had reservations for 4 at 7pm. We were seated immediately and our waitress, Grace, took our drink order for non-alcoholic beverages. She walked us through the menu and helped us pick out a drink for the table. We decided on the shipwreck, not too sweet, not too much alcohol; and it was on fire! Heftier bill than you will find in Chinatown, but far surpasses in quality and atmosphere.
Not your typical chinese food..its better.. with great atmosphere and music.. a little pricey but well worth the price.
Great place! Lobster Rangoons and char sui noodles are the best!
Being from NY.... This restaurant reminded me a lot of Tao NYC. Trendy atmosphere, Asian fusion cuisine, and a good looking crowd.
Upsacle restaurant. Very nice ambience. Food is served hot and on time. We tried: island mai tai, bamboo juice and Bombay jewel. Apps: lobster rangoons, veg spring roll(best veg spring roll ever had), scallion pancakes. Main: crunchy roll sushi, green monster(best veg sushi). Tik tok chicken and house fried rice.
Food and atmosphere is great. I really enjoyed the sushi and other appetizers that I had there. Also great music and place turns into a club at night.
Great food, solid hospitality (thank you Armani!). Really enjoyed dinner here. Food quality, doneness and freshness are splendid. Would definately recommend to friends. The only downside was how long we needed to wait to retrieve our car from the valet, so if you're heading here on a weekend, I suggest giving the claim ticket to the valet a good 20-30 mins before you intend to leave.
The place is beautiful and the bar is sexy. Had a great time here from the front door. Was greeted right away and seated in a good location to check out the whole place. The food was good and service was prompt. Tasty food, service with a smile and very yummy drinks. If I lived in Boston this would be my regular place! If I’m here again I would come back. Decor and music selection are on point! The only thing my fiancé mentioned was that the menu was disorganized and the dishes didn’t make a lot of sense. “It was hard put things together”- he says. I feel that more complex maki didn’t seem creative enough for the price tag. I feel that the basic maki would be an ok substitute. Menu did strike me as disorganized as well. It felt like drinks were the focus at this place. The quality of food was top notch though.
What a great place. The food is excellent, as is the staff. A little pricey but we'll worth it. Perfect date place as well. I hope you come and visit. You won't be disappointed
Absolutely fantastic! Unique food options and preparation. Service was amazing...seemed like the food came out within minutes of ordering but never felt rushed. Actually allowed us to try a variety of things and share. Great bar scene!
Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. We had the whole fish. Beautiful restaurant.
Great place with great drinks. We went for dinner and at around 10ish it starts converting into a lounge with a DJ. Great vibe and good music! We were actually heading to a club after dinner but we didn't wanna leave! Also cool ceiling
Great drink selection, tasty food. Nice atmosphere at night.
The food was amazing. Staff were very attentive. A bit crowded but it was new year's eve..
Unbelievable gorgeous decor, potent drinks and great food. Perfect for a celebration if you don't mind splurging on the bill
Excellent japanese food! Nice atmosphere and very good customer service! Rock shrimp tempura are amazing.
Excellent food. Varied menu. Friendly and efficient staff. Found us a table within 5 minutes. The restaurant was not too “Hip” for us two sixty somethings, we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. Just what we needed after three weeks of standard American fare. Will go again if we get the chance.
Nice and hip Asian cuisine in Boston’s back bay. The food is very good and I think I’ve tried basically every single item. It is more expensive than you’d expect but the portions are also way bigger than your standard Asian spot. The managers Ray & Alejandro were very friendly and welcoming to my large group that had a very minor delay with our reservation due to it being very busy.
Sat for a while (~20-25mins) without being greeted by our waiter, but management recognized that and came over and gave us a round of drinks and an app on the house! I was very appreciative of that and have been to this restaurant multiple times and will continue to come back! Great food and GREAT drinks! Just wish they would bring back the original spicy edamame that they had years ago!
Had a wonderful dinner with my wife and our 3 kids. The restaurant is beautiful and sparkling clean. We did have reservations, so they took us straight to our table without a wait. The menu has so many great choices that it was hard to choose. Our waitress explained all the dishes we were interested in and helped us with our selection. She did warn us that the portions were large but we went ahead and ordered more than enough. The portions are HUGE. Quality of the food was exceptional.... no processed foods here. Loved it and we will be back next time we’re in Boston.
There are mixed reviews for this restaurant but don’t be put off. We went there a couple of nights ago and had a really good meal. The waiter was very helpful explaining the menu to us and how big the portions were! We had a very interesting, varied dinner and it was only the amount of fried rice that defeated us in the end. My only slight criticism, and this shows my age, was that it was a bit dark. It is a young venue and therefore has a good vibe, with loud music and dimmed lighting. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
The place is phenomenal in terms of the overall design and space itself. While it's dimly lit it feels very spacious but doesn't feel like you're out of space even if you go in there with shirts/shorts (which I did...). The service was fantastic. In fact our sushi came out so fast it probably took less than five minutes. Granted, we did go there around 4pm on Saturday so it wasn't crowded at all. Now the 1-star deduction is the sushi itself. Unfortunately for the price (I get it, it's Boston), the overall experience of the sushi was around 6 out of 10. The rolls were beautifully presentation wise. A bit too much on the rice that wasn't as plump and one roll had rice packed so tightly it made the bite rather strong. There was more vegetable and rice than the the actual fish itself. The fish was very much underwhelming. We've had much better sushi in other places in that sense. Their Korean BBQ was one of the best we had though. VERY tender and seasoned just right. Overall, the experience and the staff were very professional and we had a great time. A little disappointed with the sushi but we are a bit of a sashimi and sushi snobs so take it with a grain of salt. It is fresh so if you're not picky you cannot go wrong.
This place is a great vibe for a dinner. Great place for big groups. The lighting is perfect and the music is kept to a low to enjoy group conversations. The ambience in general is good and the decorations inside are super cool. Beer collection is passable. The service just took a really long time and portions were huge. Average choices of vegetarian food. They'll customize the food according to how you want it.
All the statues around the restaurant are super creepy, not gonna lie. But, the food is great! Tried sushi here for the first time and it was delicious! The shef prepared each roll quickly and beautifylly.
Great place. The decor is very zen like, to say the least but with a modern twist. Red lanterns and tons of Buddha statues greet you. I had the sushi and the beef and chicken fried rice. The sushi was amazing and the fried rice was what you expect from a classic dish. Loved both dishes. The price is little too high but that’s probably because of the portions they serve. It’s a great place.
I had appetizer, few sushi and chicken. Everything was good. Not sure about the menu of white wine.
Tuesday is all you can eat sushi which is a great deal. The appetizers are pretty good. Staff is awesome.
Good food, VERY large portions. The vibe is a bit clubby — there’s even a DJ playing music — but it’s not so loud that you can’t have a conversation. As a vegetarian, I didn’t have too many options, but settled on the mapo tofu which was very flavorful.
It has a nice urban retro vibe... The resturant has the expose interior brick and steel beam however it also has a decor of a edm sport... The staff are pleasant and it is right in Back Bay... There is a vele parking, after 6pm steet parking and parking garages nearby, ita also close to the subway.
I had a great supper, the environment is very quiet, service is great and the food was good.
Really impressive abiam. Food is good. A little bit overpriced.
Cool space, hot bar tenders, strong drinks. Overpriced.
Loved the service we received during Dollar Dumpling night! No pics were taken because the food was so good. Menu is a bit pricey but it is well worth it! The atmosphere and ambiance are amazing! Will go again for sure! Cant forget to mention the AMAZING Rock Shrimp Tempura sharable plate! SOOOOOO GOOD!!! I need more!
Food: Delicious. Tuesday is an all you can eat sushi for $25 a person, well worth it. I highly recommend the Tuna Tempura - hot, crunchy/fried roll Service: Great, friendly. Atmosphere: Nice decor, cozy and dimly lit, but music is too loud and doesn't allow you to speak at a normal level.
One star deducted because we had to wait almost an hour past our reservation for our table, but—the food was incredible! The wait staff was largely great, the hostesses were very friendly and fun, though our waiter was a little odd. Would definitely come back again to see if it’d be worth 5 stars!
Delicious food, creative presentation, and a great list of cocktails/wine/saki/beer. This is an excellent place to bring a group (they have a few areas that could seat 15+). Our service was friendly and informative. Only strike I have against this restaurant are the extravagant decorations that give the place a fabricated atmosphere.
It is a very Westernized Asian fusion restaurant. The service was slightly slow on a Friday night but the waiters were very professional and courteous. The food flavors were a mix of many different cuisines (Indian, Thai, Chinese, Japanese) so nothing really stood out as being exceptionally amazing. Good for special occasions.
Beautiful ambiance but a bit loud due to the size of the space and all the brick walls. The food is creative, nicely presented and tasty, too. Definitely worth trying if you're interested in an Asian fusion upscale experience.
I assisted to an event during an ecommerce conference at this restaurant. Food was really great. We had some veggie dumplings, pork spring rolls, fried chicken noodle. Staff was attentive and made sure everything was going smooth and well. Only one bad remark, some orders came out after the end of the event.
Didn't get food there but rather went for their after hours. Was a good time, had a blast. Only two things could've been better: please stop cleaning my table that we got. I put my drink down for 1 minute and its being cleaned up... I just bought that drink man. Second, dj needs to not change songs every 30 seconds. Thanks
Quick review: Pros: - Food is good and pretty fresh - Interesting take on Asian Fusion - Decor is very nice Cons: -Waiters could work on their manners; asked if they had Uni and the waiter just respond "No" with no follow up, not the best manners - not sure if it matters, as an Asian, I was with a party of other Asians and we did not feel very welcome. :Fuller Review: The night we went, we were the only Asians in the place, we got a lot of "looks" but I don't think that's the restaurant's fault. The waiter and host seems to have given us some attitude when we asked about the menu. Overall, enjoyed the decor and food, I'm willing to give it a second chance
If you are looking for a trendy, stylish, tasty but cacophonous dining experience , this place is it. The Island Mai Tai was a true surprise - served in a frozen coconut which concealed the stingy portion. Pu-pu platter was delicious, as were the noodle and rice dishes. The DJ creates a nice vibe with excellent tracks but it is way too loud and we - and our waiter - couldn't hear each other over the din. This is perfect for those who prefer to listen or who are expert lip readers. Service? Poor. Waiter didn't know the offerings on the menu, went missing for long stretches of time and the bill was delivered by a stand-in. Bottom line: bring your appetite, your earplugs, and your own wait staff.
Atmosphere is great and very red. They food was OK. They do have large portions sizes
We’ve made a reservation but our ride hit a traffic jam and we were 15 minutes late. We called ahead of time and were assured it was not a problem. Asked to wait 10 minutes for a table and 1 hour later we were still waiting. Not good. Service was good. Food and s good but be aware of spicy dishes. Price is reasonable bit more on expensive side.
Red Lantern has a great atmosphere and is a fun place to come with friends for a special event. The prices are on the high side, however the portions are generous. I've been twice and each time I ordered different entrees and appetizers and have been very happy with everything. My biggest complaint is the poor service. I waited 15 minutes past my reservation time, only to be sat at a table with a dripping A/C unit above it. The server seemed to know this was an issue and sat us anyway. We requested a move and were placed at table designed for a party twice our size, despite other vacant tables. We asked to move to a more intimate table once again and were told that another party had a reservation and they would get priority (despite the fact that we had a reservation 30 minutes prior, and had already been inconvenienced by water dripping on us). It took 2.5 hours to eat our meal, way too much waiting. The service seemed very disjointed, and there seemed to be a lack of communication. It took about 30 minutes to get the bill, and have our waitress process our payment. Don't think I'll return here any time soon. Food is great, service is lousy.
We had a large group of 11 and were sat at a large, round table. This was great! and the center of the table spun around so ti was easy to share food. The waiter was really nice, but forgot or didn't hear someone at the table order an appetizer on 2 separate occasions. Once when everyone else did, and another time before the meals came out. After the meals arrived he did not check on the table for a while. All the fried food, like calamari, were very salty. at the end of the meal we tried to order coffee but were told they only had decaf and they offered us an Espresso Martini. Later this was confirmed with the manager who said they ran out earlier that day. This was a better explanation than the waiter gave, but still, there is a coffee shop next door that they could have bought some from before they closed.
I was a bit disappointed in this place last night. I came for my first time 2 weeks ago for the club/lounge experience and had a blast! However, dinner last night was a dud. Not even because of the food but because of service. My party of 4 arrived promptly for our 7:45pm reservation. The place was not busy, perhaps 5 tables in total. The host made us wait to "set up a table," when there were plenty of empty tables. After about 5-10 mins we got seated at a table that was already set...from when we arrived. Our server was sweet but did not come to the table for a bit of time. We got martinis that were too sweet, for my taste at least. For food, we got the duck which was quite delicious! pancakes were not your traditional ones but still okay. Portions for the steak and chicken were also large which was nice. Towards the end of the night our waters were no longer being refilled and after asking someone on a refill they never came back for 20 minutes. I had to personally go up to someone to find water. Overall, not the kind of service I was hoping to get from a highly rated and $$$ restaurant. Food was good but the overall experience was eh. :/
I would recommend Red Lantern for a friend looking to have more of a wild night, but not for a birthday good time dinner and drinks. I left in my specifications of my reservation that it was a birthday, and the options for this event were never specified or given to me. The food was okay, not too amazing or tasty. I did not like the DJ at all. Very inconsistent with the music genres, you could be listening to the 2000s and the next 20 seconds be listening to High school musical Troy and Gabriella and then 2019 rap. We also payed for two tables, and our space was completely violated by another group that had like a party of about 20 people in just one or two tables. This made the experience super uncomfortable because we didn’t have any space to dance or stand without being pushed. We did spend a considerable amount of money that night, we would think we could at least sip from our drinks without them getting spilled from so much pushing. Our waiter was super nice ! And so was the promoter. But the ambiance over all for a birthday dinner and party was completely different than expected. The birthday cake that we ordered was so hard that the birthday person didn’t even eat it. Putting a spoon through it required a hammer. I would come back to red lantern, just not for any special occasion. This reminded me of a house party in college: sweaty and messy.
The food is very tasty, though it is too overpriced to be truly enjoyed. I went for the brunch service with my friends, we had an OK time. Every menu item was overpriced and most of the portion sizes were underwhelming. (Aside from the chicken and waffles, which costed $30 but had an according portion size.) The atmosphere of the establishment was antisocial, loud music constantly blaring while we were trying to enjoy our brunch, it makes for an environment horrible for conversation. You can tell this place doubles as a club at night, and that is not a compliment. 2 stars! Would not reccomend!
A very different restaurant stay away from the appetizers the beef skewers were very tough the chicken dish was very salty. Do not bring kids to this location there is nothing on the menu that they would like in fact the staff had a hard time with my request to put White rice in a bowl for the kids. The children didn't even like the chicken wings. Stick to the main courses the sushi was not bad. There's something about paying $19 for fried rice it was just okay
