Excellent food. Small place with wait-staff scurrying. Very good service. Fantastic cocktails. Very crowded on a Saturday night so make reservation.
I always had a hunch about Roberto's. Having welding in my background, I always admired the wrought iron gates that compliment Roberto's exterior. I figured, if a business owner is forward thinking enough to distinguish their business with high quality gate work, there must be something worth while inside, and there is! For couples, finding seating is easier, groups should call ahead. Birthdays are big here, 3 on our first visit alone... The food was excellent, I had fish, my Fiance had pork chops, and it was amazing! The Malbec was sweet and smiley. Roberto's is a gem, and now counted amoung our favorites!!
Very kind and respectful 😀 they made my birthday special, and that is the first time I've ever enjoyed eggplant.
everything we tried was great. we only go for lunch which means you don't normally have to wait. only a few tables in the place means that you get the attention you deserve from the wait staff. we allowed them to order us the antipasto for starters. we then each ordered from the specials, as there is not really a set menu, so you know everything is fresh. what it comes down to is you are in the arthur avenue area you should try roberto's you will not be disappointed.
Definitely NOT your Italian-American red-sauce joint. Roberto's really reminded me of eating out in Italy (except the bread was better! Not sure why but never liked the bread served in Italy - esp Tuscany). I have eaten at Roberto's a few times, always impressed but I was moved to write this by a pasta special - Smoked duck with red and gold beets - brought out in foil and opened at the table - the pasta was obviously hand made and had a totally different texture than regular noodles. A real treat. The place is small so be careful about just showing up a busy times. Service was excellent and not snooty at all.
The food was absolutely delicious and our servers were amazing. The restaurant is very noisy, though, which was unfortunate but the restaurant is so worth the visit!
My lord this is fantastic Italian food. Really special. Pastas were fabulous and the artichokes with fava cream, sausage and cacio y Pepe was insanely good.
Really nice, cozy restaurant, right around the corner from Arthur Ave. Friendly, professional staff, too notch service, great food. If they have the pasta steamed in foil special, get it. So delicious!! I'm so glad I finally tried Roberto's, a new (for me) Arthur Ave find.
Excellent fettuccini with shave truffles. Came late after ball game, seated right away with great service. All the food was excellent including desserts which are homemade. Would definitely return.
Great family celebration. Food was great, service was friendly and efficient. Just a wonderful experience.
Incredible experience! The service was first class and the food was amazing. Combined with a great atmosphere and our lunch was truly memorable. I could not recommend it more highly, you NEED to eat here!
Absolutely delicious fresh Italian plates. Burrita salad with tomatoes melts in the mouth, a spicy chicken with peppers and sauce packed a hearty punch, and clams and octopus pasta every bite a knockout. Puts nice bread and focaccia on the table for sopping it up. Nice job fellas keep it up!
My favorite all time place to eat. When I’m Ny this is a must visit. Roberto is amazing and makes you feel at home. Food is next level good. Don’t waste your time with the others in the neighborhood. Go here first. You’ll be glad you did.
The restaurant was fantastic! The food was absolutely delicious, but what truly made the experience remarkable was the exceptional service provided by the servers , Loni and Roni. I can’t wait to go back again soon.
Went for a private party. Everything that came out was delicious ! I will definitely be coming back again for dinner.
Really liked this place. Was there for lunch and had an excellent skirt steak dish. It also helps that there is a municipal parking lot nearby. Will definitely go again and looking forward to trying more of the menu.
Restaurants a little pricey for Arthur, but the food is excellent. Went here with my family for parents weekend. Especially love the bread with the tomatoes baked in. Can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, the service is great, and the atmosphere is phenomenal.
Probably the best restaurant in the neighborhood. Fantastic staff and menu. Fresh and authentic and full of locals.
Went here for sort of a celebration dinner, and had such a wonderful experience, the food and drinks were great. The staff was a little curt, when it came to answering questions, but I could easliy attribute that to the cultural difference, as many of the servers seemed to be european, and it had perhaps been a long night (it was ABSOLUTELY PACKED when we arrived). Great place, wonderful food, and be sure to check out the specials!
Excellent Italian in the Arthur Ave neighborhood. Enjoyed the staff served appitizers of Eggplant, Tomato and Mozz and Clams and Mussels. The Rigatoni with Wild Boar ragu was excellent.
The owner Roberto is a wonderful warm person. And his food is top notch. The real hidden gem are the employees people like Elsa and Lonny help make your night special.
I LOVE it here! We went last night with a large group for my cousins birthday, we were seated in the main dining room with great ambiance, our server Lonny was a gem and his team along with the hostess were so wonderful to us! Our meals were so delicious perfect size portions, the way they sing happy birthday is honestly the best in any restaurant I’ve ever been to 😊 Dessert was also great. I recommend making a reservation. I will definitely be back! Thanks for such a great experience in Little Italy 🇮🇹
We had a 20 person special occasion dinner and Roberto’s hit it out of the park — the food and wine, service and ambiance — the best. Chef Roberto and Loni made it memorable. Roberto’s reputation is well-deserved.
Great food options and very authentic. The dining space is a bit tight but it only adds to the esthetic. Highly recommend
Been going here since I was a little kid even at their older location. I try to make it here at least once a year and have celebrated many milestones. The service here is excellent and the food is exceptional. It's an authentic experience with food inspired by Roberto's home town in Italy. I like how the dishes aren't the typical dishes everyone is familiar with. Instead of typical names, the menu lists the type of pasta with it's listed ingredients cooked in a certain way.
Really nice place. Had a corporate event for a group of 15. The place is very accommodating, attentive service , good food, nice wine selection
Superb food with exceptional service!
It was a great night, service outstanding 👏 food was delicious, and our server came up with great recommendations. It's an amazing place located in the bronx( 603 Crescent Ave ) i recommend to you 👌
Roberto's was an absolute pleasure in every way. From staff to the owner himself (Roberto) not only was the food delicious but I was treated like family. I recommend for anyone looking for delicious Italian food.
Our pasta dishes were delicious. Flavors perfectly balanced and everything complimented. Dessert was wonderful also. Highly recommended. Many vegetarian pastas on the menu and specials board. My favorite special is the black truffle pasta.
So good. Had dinner at the bar and everything from service, food, drinks was outstanding. Loved the bartender. So pretty, so personable. Highly recommend if dining in little Italy Bronx. 5 star
Robertos hosted a meal for my rehearsal dinner and it was phenomenal! The food was incredible, and everyone had a wonderful evening. This is the best restaurant in the BX. Loni went out of his way to make sure we had a wonderful time
What can I say about this amazing gem in The Bronx??? After checking out the amazing Bronx Zoo we headed over for our reservation at Roberto's and not a single bit of it could we complain about. Such a delicious and wonderful experience with a warm welcome and wonderful waitstaff.
I highly recommend Roberto’s the food was delicious, authentic Italian cuisine. The owner came to our table and personally greeted us and made sure everything was to our liking. A great meal and experience all around.
A top place for a boys' lunch. Why? Sinple; the delicious pastas, the friendly service, and the Tuscan vino, all at a reasonable price.
Incredible authentic Italian food. They get very busy, so reservations are recommended. The day I ate there years ago, Mike Wallace of 60 Minutes was at the next table with his members of his team.
Excellent service, small busy spot in Bronx. Our pasta items were cooked inside foil and served that way, waiter removes at table - interesting. Everything was really 👍 good.
Great food , great ambiance. The staff is super friendly and they love what they do . Special thanks to the service staff for always making my family feel welcomed
Incredible food with a friendly staff. This is a traditional Italian restaurant and it's clear from the moment you walk in. Whether you sit at the bar to have an espresso or sit down at a table for lunch/dinner, the experience is relaxing in every way. Sit back, relax, and enjoy this memorable Italian gem.
I came here with a group of people for dinner and everything was great. We shared a few appetizers and a few pastas and they were all delicious. I had the pork chop for my main and loved it, everyone else loved their mains as well. The desserts and drinks were also very good. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The prices were good for the quality and portions. I'll definitely be back.
Very tasty branzink w thinly sliced potato, and my companion had squid ink pasta w class and he requested shrimp, which they were happy to oblige.. It was his first time tryinf squid ink pasta and he liked ot! It's a cute out of the way restaurant and the food was impressive, I will be more than happy to return!! Excellent company, service and I could tell there was care and respect put into the preparation 💯
The absolute best Italian restaurant in all of New York City. It’s not even a debate. The food is perfect. The staff are attentive, knowledgeable and dedicated to serving the best dining experience possible. The atmosphere cozy and vibrant. I will return many times more to enjoy this epic restaurant.
Absolutely perfect. We had a great experience. Delicious bread and olive oil to start. Caprese salad, followed by a special dish (Mafalda pasta with grilled lamb), drank a classy bottle of Montepulciano. Great service too. Five stars.
Roberto's restaurant in the Bronx is a culinary gem that exceeded all expectations. Our business meeting was elevated to a delightful experience, thanks to the exquisite menu and inviting ambiance. The grilled octopus appetizer was a tantalizing start, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The tomahawk steak stole the show – a carnivore's dream, expertly prepared and accompanied by a medley of delectable vegetables and truffle-infused pasta. Each bite was a symphony of tastes that left a lasting impression. Not only did Roberto's deliver on the gastronomic front, but the timing was impeccable. We managed to beat the crowds, providing us with a quiet space to delve into our business meeting agenda. The attentive staff ensured our experience was seamless, adding to the overall satisfaction of our visit. Roberto's is not just a restaurant; it's a culinary haven where business meetings seamlessly merge with gastronomic delights. I highly recommend this establishment for anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience in the Bronx.
My absolute favorite italian restaurant in NYC. Everything about this place is just perfect. Best Italian restaurant in the five boroughs hands down. The food is unique and delicious. Home made pastas are the absolute best. Staff is extremely warming and friendly. Been going here since 2006 and the consistency is by far the best. My number one recommendation for all my friends and family.
Roberto has been one of my all-time favorite, chef Roberto himself comes around greeting his guest if his in ,food is always great the pasta, meat and a very good wine list make this place one of my favorite in Arthur ave...let's don't forget about the service always checking on the tables for any minor detail.
We eat here quite often and the food is always great as are the staff. This review however is specifically about a birthday party we had in the downstairs for my wife’s 50th. Everything was excellent. My wife and all of our guests could not stop complimenting the atmosphere, the food and the staff. Every course was perfectly timed and better than the one before. Erlon - the head waiter - went out of his way to accommodate us and make the evening enjoyable and memorable. I cannot thank them enough.
The food was absolutely phenomenal. You can really taste how fresh the ingredients are. The flavors compliment each other so well. They have a great selection of wind and drinks. The service was amazing as well, top notch. The atmosphere is very intimate with the dimmed lighting. We enjoyed ourselves very much, will definitely be returning.
Great atmosphere. Service was excellent. The staff was attentive and made sure we were taken care of. The pasta dish was fresh with a good portion size enough for two to share. The red snapper special had a savory sauce with olives and clams. Yummy!
Everything was spectacular. Not cheap but quality cooking of traditional recipes.
Really excellent old school Arthur avenue Italian joint. Haven't been here in many years and it did not disappoint
Amazing food amazing restaurant , Loni it’s the best , very attentive and professional . Definitely coming back
Everyone was very friendly and we were seated right on time for our reservation. Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu both food and wines. My son and I truly enjoyed the night! He got the strip steak special with shishito peppers, pictured below. His meal was outstanding. I got a chicken dish that was plenty good, but wasn't blown away by it.
Above and beyond very to raisnable price. The owner setting looking after his customer. One of the old style kind people
Amazing food! The tacos are very tasty. Also had the nachos which were loaded with cheese and meat. Definitely shareable. Sorry no pics for this one, but rest assure this little place is an authentic Mexican gem.
My wife and I relocated to Charleston SC a few years ago so have not been on Arthur Ave in a while. Having grown up in DA BRONX we are familiar with what the Belmont section has to offer. Although the neighborhood has changed ( and not for the Better) Roberto’s stands out as clearly the best restaurant in the area. We started with a grilled tomato stuffed with buratta which we shared. We then ordered 2 pasta entree and a side of Rabe which was excellent and expertly divided table side. Finally a couple of cappuccino and we each had the Roberto cannoli. We have dined at almost all the restaurants In little Italy Bronx and Roberto remains on top
If you're planning a trip to the Bronx Zoo or New York's Botanical Garden for lunch or dinner in Roberto, just seven is a minute away. There's always parking nearby. It's a wonderful safe area just two blocks from Arthur Avenue, and that's all it offers. Great food, drinks are plenty, and service is very good. It is actually even worth the trip, even if you are not going to the nearest attractions. I highly recommend it. We all have brpught there, love it, love it. In a very good way, it's an old-fashioned Italian restaurant.
Very good italian food overall. I had the Veal Osso Buco (if that's how you spell it) and it was very nice with a delicious sauce and marrow. Service was a little slow but very friendly and attentive. The Manhattan cocktail was great (especially with the Rye). My brother had the pasta and truffle special which was devine. The only reason I don't rate this 5 stars is the high price of the cocktails ($15 each) and the lessened menu due to coronavirus. Overall Roberto's should be on your list of restaurants to visit in the Arthur ave section of the Bronx due to its amazing traditional italian faire.
We brought our mom out for her birthday and she definitely was happy with the food and the service and the ambiance. The prices were very fair for the area, the portions were very nice, the customer service was great and the fact that you were not rushed made a dinner. Very clean and safe for these times. Well done
I loved the meals. Unfortunately, they do not have meals for the picky eaters. They do not have garlic bread, kids menu nor a regular meal like spaghetti with meatballs. This restaurant is wonderful for people with wonderful palates. Picky eaters or people that’s not familiar with Italian foods, don’t bother going. You’ll end up not enjoying its authenticity.
Exactly what you would expect from a top Arthur Ave dining experience. Service is excellent, food was delicious and well presented. Wine selection was great. Atmosphere is old school Italian.
Very good food and service. Place is on the smallish side, so is a bit tightly packed.
Roberto's is a higher end Italian Ristorante, a place to go to on special occasions when you are looking for dishes that are more inventive and seasonally influenced than your standard Italian menu. The pasta portions are large; great for sharing with the table, and the ingredients are fresh and deliciously prepared. Roberto's servers are attentive, professional, and more than happy to give advice on which items to order. So why only an average rating? The Little Italy of the Bronx is filled with places to eat and there are other amazing options that cost a fraction of Roberto's prices. I may go back to Roberto's if I want to expand my Italian dish horizons, but for the true Arthur Ave experience, I'll stick to eating in the market or at one of the delis.
I wasn't impressed by Robertos. We had a reservation for 6 pm, arrived at 6:05 pm but our table wasn't ready till 6:20! The place was extremely loud, with people having screaming conversations with each other. The food was just Ok. We had salad, striped bass, and branzino. They all lacked proper seasoning. The servers were nice. Lastly, the bathroom door didn't lock from the inside, and I had to hold it shut with one hand while in there.
Very disappointed. Went to celebrate my birthday with party of 10 friends. All were disappointed with their entrees including myself. The appetizers were probably the highlight and they were nothing to rave about. Service is excellent, wish the food was too!
Food over all just OK. The seafood Fusilli was fresh and good. Bread was stale, dessert I ordered was special of that day, it was pre-prepared, not fresh at all. People at the restaurant some were cordial some were pretty rude. Overall it was just poor to OK for the price.
Food was good. Service was very slow. Restaurant was very loud - hard to talk
Food and service was good but we were asked to leave our table before we were done so they could seat another couple. They actually brought the check without asking for it. First time this has ever happened to me in any restaurant I've been to. To many other choices to dine in the area.
Seems like a good restaurant with classic italian fare. I think we must have come on an off night. One of our appetizers was missing a key ingredient that we were really looking forward to. When we asked a server, he said we were mistaken. He even brought a menu to show us that we were wrong. The menu still listed the ingredient, so did the menu we looked at while waiting at the bar, so does the menu currently on the website. Then he said that the dish used to come with it, but then the chef decided the ingredient was not necessary since it makes the dish look too messy. Sounded like a b.s. answer which I did not appreciate. The seafood appetizer we ordered came out cold and was overly salted, and I love salt. We looked forward to dipping the complimentary bread in the white wine sauce, but it was not enjoyable. Sopping a good bread in a delicious sauce is one of my favorite parts of a good italian meal. There were a fair amount of mussels that never opened up, (which means they were dead and should not be eaten) which is fine, that happens, it just added insult to injury. It’s not like the portion was heaping and that the closed mussels were not visible on the way from the kitchen or while the server portioned them out. I would not care about picking out some duds if the dish was hot and tasted good. The portion of sliced bread loaf was good but the focaccia style bread was hard and stale. The pasta we ordered was recommended by our server and was indeed the best item we had during our visit. It came to the table in a tin foil pouch. It felt a little gimmicky, more about the show of cutting open the pouch at the table than really adding much to the dish. The server offered fresh parm cheese but forgot to come back with it until we waited and asked again. I feel like this restaurant can, and probably does, do better. Maybe we ordered poorly. I prefer to write positive reviews and keep my mouth shut for bad ones, but I felt very disappointed, especially considering that the price point is pretty high and this was a splurge meal for us. I write this with the sincere hope of seeing them improve and continue to thrive.
My boyfriend and i have been going there a couple of times and always had a great experience, but today was a horrible experience. When i got there before my partner I had to wait in the front standing. I've went to other restaurants and this never happened before. When we was about to be seated they ask if they can take our coats when i say I'm fine the hostess tells me she has to ask her manager if that's fine, when i get seated everyone there has a jacket on their chair so why they asked us to leave our coat in the front ?? At the end when i ask for the dessert the waitress takes more than 10 minutes to check on me so I decided to just ask for the bill do not recommend this place.
Im not usually a reviewer but this place I had to post a review. OVERPRICED and POOR quality food. Went there for Valentine’s Day! Had made a reservation 2 weeks earlier and yet went we arrived there were ushered downstairs to the claustrophobic BASEMENT. So i figured ok maybe food will make up for it. Boy was I wrong. Ordered veal special ($30) the veal was old and tough. My wife had the pasta special with truffles ($45!). Overcooked and dry sauce and black truffle sliced on top had no aroma at all! Appetizer cold cut ($23) With 6 slices of salami some cheese and 1 slice of prosciutto that me and my wife had to split! We left place feeling like we had just been ripped off! Only good thing waiter was courteous.
Terrible service. There are better options.
This is not what I would call a family friendly restaurant...in fact it's not friendly to anyone. No side orders, no small salads, no anything that you may want. I have never been told NO so much in any restaurant I have been in. As a matter of fact the waiter told us he could get fired for switching one of our dishes from potatoes to mozzarella cheese..definitely not a fun time
Avoid. At. All. Cost! This place was beyond deceptive. No fresh ingredient. Pasta overcooked. No fresh pasta of course. We came with the expectation of a nice lunch in a typical restaurant of the Italian district and ended up in a defective underfunded middle school restaurant. The service was OK tlbut culinary talking there was nothing but a sad disappointment. I do not understand the reviews and they do not match our expectations. They can be true for the other restaurants of the owner but this is was shockingly disappointing.
Be careful! Credit card gets skimmed here!!! Update: As a good reviewer, I attempted to contact the restuarant prior to posting my review. Someone that claimed they were a waiter refused to let me speak to any management. I offered to leave my name and number they refused to take it. They suggested I try to contact the owner when they return from Europe at the end of the month. I called you have my number and if you are truly interested in addressing the issue you can contact me.
My husband and I arrive 10 minutes ahead of reservation to enjoy what we thought would be a nice dinner. We check in with the hostess and are asked to wait one minute. The hostess then proceeds to attend to a steady flow of new guests arriving after us. She checks in and seats a party 10 (ok we think, they probably have a special table), then another party of 2 then 4-- has she forgotten about us? It's now been 10 minutes of waiting and its our reservation time. We inquire whether our table is ready as the hostess makes her way back to the front after seating the party of 4. She asks "what was your name again", proceeds to attend to and sit another party of 6 that has arrived in the meantime, then finally comes back to us. It's been nearly 20 minutes now, but we're excited to finally be heading to our table. We see a nice small table with 2 seats...the hostess continues right past it, hooks a right and starts leading us downstairs to the basement. We begin to complain, and are told the table is not available to us. We begin to walk out and say this has been a "1 star" experience and magically the table becomes available, and we are offered a slew of generic excuses-- we needed to wait for our entire party to arrive before we could be seated (it was only the 2 of us), it was the hostesses first week, etc. This place isn’t as hospitable to people of color. My husband and I felt very uncomfortable after the entire encounter so we left anways- hungry and having wasted our time. We’ve never had this experience before & recommend you don’t waste your money here.
Overrated! did not enjoy my meal here or the service. avoid this place and go to Tra Di Noi instead.
It must have been sold. It was absolutely horrendous from the eggplant and no zucchini starter with cold tomato sauce to the gelatinous mess they called sauce on a pork chop that was billed as double cut that was butterflied open with a spicy sauce of fried tough artichokes and over fried potatoes. The special pear ravioli had no pears five anemic discs of flat pasta with tasteless filling. Only the one glass of Pinot noir was good. I have no idea what has happened here but it was the worst meal ever in The Bronx!!!
Highly disappointed in our experience here. Save your time and money by going elsewhere. Hospitality: We arrived 30 minutes before our reservation time and they were unable to seat us (fair) but it would be a couple of minutes. Then, when it finally was a reservation time, the hostess rudely told us that we would have to continue to wait and she refused to give us an estimated time. A different front of house staff member assured us that the food would be well worth the wait. After 10 more minutes and one more frustrating interaction with the hostess, we were finally seated. The waiter was nice, and he tried his best to be accommodating. Unfortunately, it took over an hour for the entrees to arrive at our table. Food: I received absolutely undercooked eggplant in my penne melitzana. Again, the waiter kindly understood the issue and offered to bring me something else. Unfortunately, then I received undercooked spaghetti that was quite chewy. He offered us a dessert and sadly, we were given a dry and underwhelming chocolate volcano cake. Atmosphere: It's a busy restaurant with tables awkwardly close to each other. Crowding at the entryway was an issue. Not great vibes. They also play a fairly creepy song at max volume for birthday celebrations. I don't like leaving negative reviews but I feel like anyone coming here should be prepped.
