What a fun little neighborhood spot. My friends and I went just after new years 2026 and for our first dinner outing of the new year it was fantastic. The combined meat and cheese board is a must-get. One friend got the orecchiette, one got the vongole, and I had the lasagne- all of us had amazing dishes. I will definitely be back soon to try more of their food and wine.
This is one of the best Italian meals I’ve had in a while. We were going to see Stevie Nicks at the Barclay center and we were in a rush… I made a reservation, but we let them know when we got there that we needed to move quickly and the servers delivered. The food here is incredible. I am sorry that I did not take photos. First of all they make their own bread and it is insane. It’s a delicious granular soft whole wheat bread with a fabulous crust. The lasagna is second to none. The whole fish was delicious. We had Seabass. Everything was amazing and to top it off the tiramisu was the best I have ever had. It’s evident that they make all their food in house and that it is made by somebody who is extremely talented‼️
The food was wonderful. Had the Cacio e Pepe which was superb and hard to find in restaurants these days. The service was exemplary and we were allowed to linger without any pressure. We have been going here since they opened years ago and he food has remained of a very high quality. As usual we will be back!
This spot is one of my favourite local Italian spots and has a lovely warm and cozy vibe. We stopped in on a Thursday night without a reservation but they were able to seat us straight away. I ordered the meat board to start and my partner ordered the Caesar salad. Unfortunately they had not had a food delivery so 2 out of the 3 secondi dishes were unavailable so we both decided to order the seafood linguine dish. This ended up being a great outcome because our dish was AMAZING! There was so much flavour and the hint of chili was just enough, a perfectly seasoned dish. We were pretty full after this and didn't order dessert but they kindly brought us a flourless chocolate cake on the house. I have never been so pleased to be given a complimentary dessert as this was delicious. If you think you are too full order this dish nonetheless and thank me later haha. Our total bill for two, with tax and tip, came to $170 (including a very nice bottle of gavi). The quality of food here is great and highly recommend if you are in the area!
Worth the hype. The service was quick, they accommodated us without a reservation thankfully but I’d suggest making one as it’s a very small restaurant. It was my first time trying rabbit and they made my experience so enjoyable. The flavors were perfect for the type of meat, it wasn’t overwhelming nor underdone, just perfect. We also had the duck ravioli which was also great but the portion could have been a little bigger. Wine selection was amazing, overall would recommend if need to Barclays.
Perfect date night spot, or to bring out of town family. Precise, well executed northern Italian worthy of it's Michelin star at an incredible value for money. It's so good it should have a line down the street, but doesn't yet. Wine list is intelligently designed and regional, service is spot on but unpretentious. I speak as a CMS somm who has worked decades in high end: this is where industry people go on a Monday night date when they want everything to be exactly right without any fuss. At the same time, it's not threateningly original; you can take your small town family members here when they're visiting and they won't be weirded out, but you won't be bored and annoyed. Sophisticated enough for NYC without being too Brooklyn weird for middle America. Brilliant. Get in while you still can; I anticipate in the near future they'll be booked out for months in advance.
Three trips to the Friuli region recently cancelled!! Luckily a trip to Brooklyn to visit our daughter brought us a step closer to Italy. Real authentic Italian dishes offered and all of ours were delicious. No picture of the polenta with oyster mushrooms & taleggio cheese but it was incredible. Looks like we will be visiting Our daughter more often.
This is a "mom and pop" Italian restaurant with extensive wine selections. It had rustic charm, beautiful that lovely. Such a warm, romantic space for a perfect date! It is a rather small space, but they do have another room downstairs, which can be used for a private event. We had a few appetizers to share; Burrata con Pomodoro e Basilico, and Ravioli di Mele. Burrata dish was fresh and tasty, refreshing on a hot, steamy day. Ravioli had a nice sweetness to it, packed with flavor! We also had their infamous Carciofo alla Romana, which is a Braised Artichoke. It was unique and impressive. The heart was almost creamy, melt in your mouth. They had a few special of the day, and one of them was lasagna. We didn't order it, but we got a small sample, and it was soooooo good! For main, I chose Spigola al Forno, a ‘Whole’ Mediterranean Sea Bass It came out beautiful! One of the owners, Michelle, filleted it for me right there. The first bite of the fish gave me such joy...it was absolutely delicious! We enjoyed this dish very much! My hubby went with Agnello in Crosta di Pistacchio, a Sicilian Pistachio Crusted Roasted Rack of Lamb. It had a great crunchy exterior with plump and juicy inside. Packed with flavor, tender and very satisfying. We ended with Tiramisù and Torta di Cioccolato. It was one of the best Tiramisù and flourless chocolate cake I’ve ever had! We had an amazing dinner here, I am so happy to have discovered this restaurant! Everything we had was superb, we enjoyed them all from the first bite to the last. Our main server, Valentine, took a great care of us. If you want to have some authentic, delicious food with family and friends, or have a very romantic date, this might be the perfect spot for you!
Spent $85 a head for Valentine’s Day. I’m all for “cozy” atmospheres but when you can’t comfortably sit in your chair because too many people are sitting too close to you, then it’s not cozy - it’s cramped. At times, the waiters can barely get to the tables and have to reach over other tables to fill your glass of water. For $85 for 3 courses, I could at least get more than 2 stalks of asparagus for my steak. The steak sauce was phenomenal, so was the gnudi and the chocolate cake was the best dessert I’ve had in my life. The squid ink pasta and quail were delicious as well. However, my mashed potatoes and steak were lukewarm which was a bummer. Steak needed more salt too. Lastly, I was not notified there was a 20% service charge added onto the bill. Asking for gratuity when charging a service fee feels disingenuous and I’m not even sure if any of the service fee goes to the waitress. Not a fan of hidden fees. Overall, I’d recommend this restaurant on a not as busy day as the cramped environment can make you feel claustrophobic. However, the food is great and you should try the chocolate cake.
Convivium Osteria is definitely great. You are transported to an italian antique house upon entering the restaurant. The service was a little confusing at times, but very professional and courteous. The highilights of my meal were definitely the sweet ravioli with peking duck ragu and the rabbit with polenta. Both dishes are so unique and well done. Two of my favorite italian dishes in NYC so far. Would definitely recommend.
This was a great meal. We we're lucky to be seated in the lower level especially since the heat wave was in full force. The menu is very unique. It is not often that you find rabbit on the menu. And it’s less frequent even when you do find it that the meat is tender and delicious. There were so many fun things to try for example, for appetizers we had the octopus, the artichoke, burrata, and the salad. I probably could’ve stop there. But we went onto a main entrée with a number of different options all very delicious. The steak was made exactly to her liking medium rare on the rear side. And it was carved tableside perfectly. We also had the Seabass. I was very happy that we were able to order a deboned. I never enjoy taking bones out of my mouth while I’m eating. For dessert we ordered the tiramisu, the flourless cake, and custard which of the three was my least favorite. The tiramisu was very good and highly recommended. What I liked about it is that it wasn't overly sweet. Flourless cake was pretty good though I’m not a big fan of too much chocolate that late at night. It was however about the only gluten-free option on the menu. If I had one disappointment about eating here is that there was no gluten free pasta on the menu. I would’ve thought by now that most restaurants would have a evolved their offerings to include gluten-free pasta. But all in all the dining experience was really good. I would’ve given them foreign a half stars but half stars are not an option on this app. I really enjoyed it and I hope to return in the near future. Oh and I really love the waiters hair design. He had this really cool style. I love when people take time for their appearance and also to say something really cool about their personality. It was a great experience overall.
Underwhelming. Had the ravioli, lasagna, rabbit, octopus, shrimp, and sea bass (fish of the day). The ravioli was especially confusing - being very sweet yet ladled with Bolognese made it unclear whether it was a main course or a dessert. The sea bass was well cooked, however, lacked sufficient seasoning. The rabbit was somewhat dry and tough. Lasagna was nothing to write home about. Overall, had higher expectations, though the atmosphere was very cozy and romantic.
I am not someone who takes pleasure in writing a poor review, so let me start with what we enjoyed. The ambiance, albeit cramped, was lovely, the Italian country decor and dim lighting was very romantic and makes you feel quite transported. I will also say their wine was good quality, as were the inventive appetizers. Now onto the bulk of our experience this Valentine’s Day. My husband and I were quite looking forward to dining at CO, for the atmosphere, impressive accolades, authentic Italian menu, & reasonable price point. We booked weeks in advance only to have our reservation suddenly canceled through the Resy app, I was able to rebook through OpenTable, And once I called to confirm, it seemed like things were on as originally planned. This should’ve been my first sign to turn back. Upon arrival I had been notified via text that our 5:45 PM booked table was ready at 6:00PM, No big deal we were running a tad behind ourselves. However, we were made to wait for several minutes, despite receiving said alert. Multiple other couples came in with malfunctioning reservations to which the Host admitted that they overbooked themselves. Once we were seated downstairs in their wine cellar (not even the main room), we thought things would go pleasantly from there. We were mistaken. We were brought stale bread and bottled water, which we picked at a bit but ultimately gave up on. When we were Given menus, we found that they had changed the menu that day to an $80pp prefix menu which had not been advertised in the recent days or weeks prior (i checked) more than we had originally budgeted for. Our appetizers came out and while small un portion were quite good. We were then made to wait 45 minutes for our entrées to come out after being brought the wrong food TWICE. During this waiting period no one came to ask us if we needed anything or if we needed a refill on our water, Or even just to let us know that it would be a wait. Nothing. Once our food came, it was lukewarm and for the price insultingly small portioned. We were then made to wait another 15 to 20 minutes for our dessert course Which were equally small and disappointing. We were quite ready to leave at this point so we requested the check, and to our surprise, were automatically billed a 20% gratuity fee that had not been previously advertised, and that we felt was not at all deserved. Mind you there were 2 of us, not some large party of 6 or more so this was quite shocking. I signed, and we left without so much as a “thank you for dining with us” or “we hope to see you again soon. We were still hungry so we grabbed burgers on the way home. Overall just such a sour way to spend such a sweet holiday (let alone one’s hard earned money). I would not recommend.
What a shame! This restaurant used to have excellent food. We waited an hour in an empty restaurant for some of the worst pasta we’ve ever tasted. The cacio e pepe was somehow watery (?), extremely bland, and inedible enough that I only had a couple of bites and went home to have some takeout from the fridge instead. The staff seemed consistently confused and service was agonizingly slow. I wondered why this place is often empty — don’t find out the hard and expensive way like we did :)
1 star is generous for the horrible service we received last night. For Valentine’s Day the restaurant overbooked and when we arrived early to our 8:30 reservation we had to wait for over an hour to be seated. Several other customers arrived and had to wait or stand outside in the cold. By the time we finally got seated we then found out there was a prefix menu which was not advertised on the site or socials. Half the options I would have chosen were no longer available so we only had our mains and then the desert was no longer available when we were done eating. Overall horrible service from the team. When we asked for the check there was an automated 20% gratuity. This was insane considering we did not even get to enjoy half of the prefix menu. When I asked to speak with the manager to get this removed from the bill he proceeded to tell me that the gratuity is not the hostess fault and that it was the restaurants fault. He told us it was our fault that we had dietary restrictions and could not get what was left on the menu. He argued with me until he finally decided to remove the gratuity. Everyone in the restaurant looked visibly displeased with the service. We will not be returning due to the owners terrible attitude towards customers.
0/5 if I could. Made a reservation but was forced to wait 30 mins to get seated with no care from the host. The restaurant had decided to set a valentine’s Day fixed menu without notice of course. When we had made our selection, the listed option was no longer available. Isn’t the whole point of making a set menu and knowing how many confirmed reservations you have help plan how much to make and order? Was it greed or negligence of the manager/owner? Who knows. Non existent server, limited options on an already limited menu, wrong items brought out and the cherry on top was the automatic 20% gratuity added to the check with no heads up. I had high hopes for this restaurant but the only good thing was the rustic feeling of the cellar. Other than that it was mediocre at best. Avoid at all cost for special events and try the other restaurants in the area instead
Went for the Valentines preset dinner. Didn't get sat until 30 min after our reservation. Ordered and got drinks about 30 min later. Took another 30 min. to get the starters. Another hour to get entrees. Food was mediocre with 20% gratitude built into bill. Was there for 3 hours total and didn't enjoy the preset menu.
There were three octopus legs in total, but one of them was burnt. I told the waiter, but they didn't say anything. The overall taste was just average. The restaurant didn't even have security cameras. I paid $210 in cash, but they said I only paid $150. I asked them to check the security footage, but they said they didn't have it and that they wouldn't take 50 from me either way. This is ridiculous.
It had been a long time since coming to this restaurant though I only live 5 Min walk away - as it’s a bit pricey and was never impressed with the service. But tonight sealed the deal that I will likely not come back. Service was an afterthought at best. No one ever checked on our meal until it was completed. The welcome bread had a crust that was rock hard. They had a sign saying they accepted BAM membership discounts but they didn’t honor it. And I felt forgotten about the entire time. No asked if my husband wanted a second glass of wine. Our first water refill came literally after we asked for our check. I ordered the pork chop dish which had good flavor, but it was very tough. I didn’t want to see the dessert menu because I didn’t want to spend another penny at this establishment or stay another moment longer. Which is saying something because at home we had no electricity - so I would rather sit in the dark than be there.
Super disappointed. I made a reservation for 7:15 and had to wait outside (!!!) until 8pm to finally leave as my table was still not ready. Cannot judge on the food (pretty sure it's delicious). But the restaurant is super small, noisy and the staff not very friendly. The admin must change the way he manages staff and reservations.
Came here for the gnudi. Off the menu. Service was very slow. We were there for 2 hours to complete meal. The lasagna was salty but okay.. Lamb was overdone & very meager meat. The only positive, the waiter did not charge us for the dessert & coffee because we complained. Will not return. .
