My mom loved this place. She'd get coffee and two tacos. Its hard eating here without her but I will continue to support this restaurant while im still here. The food is good and the staff are nice. Yall have a blessed day
I smelled the food from the parking lot. Sat down immediately. Restroom door feeds directly from dining area...so if u got real business...save it til u get home. Other than that...awesome food n service.
So glad they reopened! Super cute updated spot with great servers & managers that really care. Mila, Omar, & Chelsea are the sweetest servers and did is delicious!
First and foremost I want to thank Esmeralda for reaching out to me to our last visit in Buda. This morning 01/24/26 my wife and I had breakfast at Buda site. Let me start off by saying that the servants was amazing. I could see a Team Effort in all the servers. We got greeted with such amazing service. Everyone that served us went above and beyond. To your Manager Esmeralda who made sure to have a conversation with us and thanked us for coming back to our waitress Darlene who made sure we got taken care of. To know that Darlene has been with the company says a lot about her servant ship. The food was so Amazing. And yes Esmeralda asked if I wanted to taste the carne guisada as I said yes and it was 100% better than the other night. Both the plates my wife and I had was Supper Supper Amazing. Thank you Esmeralda for your commitment and your word . We will be coming back more often. Thank you Garcia’s for showing your support, appreciation and having Leadership like Esmeralda and her team today. Please Thank the entire team this morning. God bless you all from Rivera’s.
I'm a regular. I live their home made chips and the salsa is very tasty. Best Chicken Tortilla soup for miles.
The food was great! I came here on a Thursday to meet a client and the setting was perfect- not too loud and not too quiet, just right. I even stuck around afterwards for a few margaritas and caught up on some work, the patio was very nice and relaxing. Overall the service was great! I was here for a few hours and the waitresses came to check on me pretty often, I will definitely be back!
Garcia’s is one of my all-time favorite Tex-Mex spots! I stopped in for a quick takeout order after fasting for 24 hours and was absolutely famished when I realized there had been a mix-up with my order. I didn’t catch the manager’s name at the time, but she was wonderful—she even got up from her own meal to help me fix it and personally walked the food out to my car. Later I called and was told her name was Esmer, so I hope I’ve got that right—but if not, big shout-out to whoever it was! That was truly above and beyond, and I really appreciate the kindness and thoughtfulness. And to the sweet helper who brought me a fork—you were an angel. Good vibes all around. Thanks for making my night!
They are consistently good. Our go to place for Mexican food in Buda and Kyle, TX. So glad Buda is open again. We have a great experience every time. I love the deck area for eating outside. It’s small but perfect for intimate lunch or dinner. Highly recommend.
The team of Green Knight® Metal Roofing enjoyed a fantastic dinner tonight. Food was very good and the service was great! New server, Mila, took care of us. Turns out it was her first day but you wouldn't have known it. She was attentive, friendly and efficient. Give this place a try, and ask for Mila.
August 2025 ========== Returned today, 8/10/25, to Garcia's in Buda after a long wait. The restaurant closed its doors in May/June of 2024 and began working on a remodeling effort on the inside. We arrived, luckily, before mid-morning breakfast rush and was greeted by Malea (sp). She added our name to the waiting list, and advised they had been open about 3 weeks. We were seated within 20 minutes, and greeted by our server, Darlene (aka Dar), who took our drink orders and gave us a few minutes to review the menu. Our orders wereba migas taco with ham added, 2 migas plates (I ordered mine spicy), and a pork chop plate. We asked for flour tortillas. The food took about 15-20 or possibly 15 minutes to prep. This wasn't an issue as it gave us time to catch up with our guests, and the staff was very good about keeping us stocked with chips and salsa. I asked Dar for some spicier salsa, and she brought the green salsa made with Serrano peppers. It was flavorful and definitely a notch hotter. Our food arrived and it was all good, and like I remembered. If there was was thing I would encourage the kitchen, it would be to increase the portion of the migas. This being said, my and our guests plates were clean. I do like the new look, it is much more open and has an airy feeling. I hope your experience, should you decide to visit, is as good or better than mine. May 2024 ========= We were in the Buda area again today and decided to follow up and eat Garcia's for a late lunch, early dinner. There were 8 in our party and it was busy. So we had a little bit of a wait, about 45 minutes. Once seated, we were quickly attended to, and our server was Chelsea. She took very good care of us. If there is one thing I can say about Garcia's, their service is fantastic. While I've only been twice, I can not say enough about it. The staff is professional, courteous, and service oriented. They will try to find ways to make your experience the best possible. I've captured some photos of our dishes. All of them were very good, and the serving sizes were appropriate. The dishes ranged from enchiladas (cheese, beef, and chicken), Garcia's Delux, steak quesadillas, and some others that I do not recall. Finally, we all found their chips and salas refreshing. Ask for the green salsa if you want it hotter. As with my summary below, I hope your experience is as good as ours. February 2024 ============ I was in the Buda area looking for a place to have a Mexican breakfast. I always look for family owned restaurants so I can support the local community. I found this place in downtown Buda and was not disappointed. We were quickly greeted, seated, and our drink orders were taken. We asked for menus so we could review our choices. We opted for some chips and salsa to start. Quick note, the red salsa is mild. If you like the heat, request the green salsa. I ordered the migas plate, and my wife ordered breakfast tacos. Both were very good. Note, if you like cheese on your migas, you should ask for that at your time of order. See my parking comments for awareness. We visited on a Sunday morning at about 8:30 am. Overall, I really enjoyed the visit, food, and atmosphere, and I will definitely be back. I hope, if you visit, your experience is as good as mine.
This is where you want to grab a quick comfort meal! The service you get at this place makes you feel like family, even if it’s your first time. I went for breakfast after running some errands and I’m so happy I did. I ordered their breakfast with bacon eggs potatoes and beans. It was served quickly and was perfectly hot. Bacon was crispy and potatoes were warm. Their tortillas are delicious and I can’t wait to go back and get a lunch/dinner meal.
I didn't know Buda had a Garcia's until the other day. It's over there on old Main St. Back in the 70ies that was all there was of Buda..:) Anyway, I was coming back from Austin today and decided to stop in. I just beat the lunch run. They have inside seating but we're having such a mild July, that I just sat outside and pretty much had to myself. I had the Mexican Dinner which was only a little over 10 bucks. The food took almost no time to arrive. The wait staff was friendly and fast with the chips and sauce . I don't drink but if you do, the place is a BYOB, according to the sign..:) I parked across the street in the parking area to be on the safe side, because all the parking around the place goes to other businesses and the other reason is if you park in front, then you have to back out into on coming traffic. Your call
Great atmosphere that matches the location. Service was fast and friendly they worked as a team to keep our table taken care of! The tortillas!!!!! Yum! I'd go back just for them. Parking was ok, I bet it can get busier at times though.
Disclaimer: This review is not about the food — the food at Gracias is excellent both Breakfast, Dinner, and has the best menudo in town The Food Menu is 5 star The bar, however, was a disappointment on Sat Aug 17 and earns only 3 stars. The bar menu advertises a top-shelf margarita for $14.95. Fair enough, i typically purchase three, But Saturday when I requested the margarita with Lalo tequila — which is unquestionably top shelf — the server Lupita had to check if it was even allowed. She returned saying yes, but the drink would be $24.95 because their so-called “top-shelf” margarita is made with Hornitos & they would charge extra for the Lalo. That “Top Shelf” on the bar menu is kinda misleading . I settled for their frozen top-shelf margarita, and it was undrinkable because it had too much syrup in the mix. For a place with such excellent food, the bar program feels like an afterthought. Bottom line: I will continue coming here for the food but I won’t be coming here for drinks. The silver lining is i saved roughly $60 on drinks i did not have.
The desert was soggy. Not cooked right. My friend wanted to upgrade/Subway the fries in a fish plate but wasn't allowed. So instead of charging the difference of the fries to nopalitos she would not get the fries but have to pay a side. Ridiculous. My friend also tried to ask the servers to explain the difference between different meals and what they contain and they were very short and brash with her. The one in Seguin was excellent. Not this one
First time at Garcias and sadly disappointed. We had Chuys the night before and the price as well as quality of food & drinks was at a different level. I was excited to try this place after the renovation, and while the service was good, the food needs some work. Also, they were cleaning the windows using a bad smelling alcohol product while we ate which permeated the restaurant.
Worst Mexican food I've had in a while. Waaay too salty! Flavor of the sauces were off. A smear of runny beans. I mean c'mon beans are cheap! The salsa is terrible, just pureed tomatoes, the rice was good but too salty. Chips were good. I had the deluxe dinner and usually get a couple of extra different enchiladas with it. Glad I didn't. Chalupa hardly had any toppings, taco was tiny and just ground beef, tamale tasted like it was out of a can and the 'enchilada sauce' that covered was runny and watery and if that's the sauce they use on the enchiladas, I'm glad I didn't get them. I had a chicken enchilada w verde sauce, maybe a spoonful on top. Didn't taste right. Never going back!
We’ve been going to Garcia’s for about 10 years, but our first visit after the remodel was awful. Our party of six waited close to an hour while smaller groups were seated one after another. After about 8 to 10 parties we asked why can't you sit us. They told us they can't push tables together, so we had no choice but to wait for 1 of the 3 large tables to be free. We ended leaving
Food is good but the service is horrible. We waiting over an hour for a table of 7 and still nothing was available and it was very difficult keeping hungry small children under 5 calm. Only do pick up if your best option for a big party unless your there early or don’t mind waiting.
Didn’t even get the chance to try the food because we waited over an hour not to be seated. “The owner” doesn’t like tables pushed together so I guess the owner enjoys losing business and receiving bad reviews. We haven’t been since before they closed and definitely not going back.
> I ordered a Papa Ranchera taco from Garcias Mexican in Buda, and to be honest, I was extremely disappointed. Anyone who’s ever ordered Papa Rancheras here before knows exactly what to expect — potatoes cooked in a flavorful ranchera sauce, with that signature red color and seasoning. What I received was completely different: just plain potatoes, eggs, and bacon in a tortilla, with no sauce or flavor. It looked like something thrown together without care, and definitely not what I paid for. I spoke with Esmeralda, who claimed to be the manager, and she told me this location is owned by a different family member and therefore “does things differently.” I explained to her that the sign outside still says Garcias Mexican, and as a customer, I expect the same quality and consistency at any location under that name. That’s part of what builds trust with a brand. Her response didn’t address the issue — and honestly, it made the experience even more frustrating. I’ve been a customer of Garcias for years and have always associated the name with good food and consistency. This visit did not reflect that standard. If this location is going to operate differently, customers deserve to know upfront — or better yet, they should raise their quality to match the reputation that the Garcias name is known for.
Today was my second time back to Garcia's since the renovation. The first time was great - the food, service, atmosphere. But today was not good. I ordered and paid for to-go food. The staff was great....friendly, patient, and helpful. To-go food is ordered at the patio, not in the main part of the restaurant. After I placed my order, I sat at a two-top table. About 10 minutes later, I was told to surrender the table for a dine-in customer. So I stood around waiting for my food. After standing for almost 20 minutes, I finally gave up and just left....frustrated, hungry, and very disappointed. Why are to-go customers less important to the owner than dine-in customers? So in addition to waiting a long time for my to-go order (which I gave up waiting for), I felt I was not invited to sit comfortably while I waited for my food. I strongly urge you to see how your competitors handle to-go customers. They treat them very well....can sit while waiting, are offered a drink while waiting, are kept informed about the status of their order.
