Great experience especially with the bartender Luke!
Burger was delish, and you get to customize it. Bartender was so nice and funny.
I luv this place , laid back and comfortable . Very good food and top notch staff . I always come back for good reason !!!!!
We go every week. Pat always remembers our drinks... great guy
A+ service, great food, and anyone can find a beer they like.
One of the best places to eat and relax in Buffalo. Courteous staff, excellent food.
It's always fun there. Good music people and drinks.
I've consistently always have a great meal here. Staff is always amazing.
I Love this place !!!! Very exciting and fun 💯💯 The women are very ENTERTAINING( Respectfully speaking)😎😎😎
Food is on point. Staff is on point. Pine Fever Live. Delicious rotating beer selection.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Couldn't recommend more
Good drinks and food. Even better staff and atmosphere.
Great dinner, have been 4 times and always had a great meal and service
Allen St Hardware is an Awesome place to visit.Friendly staff and patrons. ♥️♥️♥️
Solid upscale pub style meals, friendly staff, delivered in a timely fashion... unless you're trying to seat ten people without a reservation in a dining area for designed for approx. 30-40 on the busiest night of the week. I make it down to Allen St. on a fairly regular basis and Hardware is one of my preferred go to spots because of their bartending staff, satisfying food and relaxed, laid back style. Only thing that could improve the menu is if they brought back their amazing baked brie. I have yet to experience any issues with my food & drink service, but I tend to only go Monday-Thursday because on weekends it does become one of the busiest spots on Allen and it's not the biggest of facilities to begin with, so of course it's going to be harder to get service. If you're looking for a larger spot to hang out that has more bar space and bartenders that can serve drinks faster by just slapping them together, you're probably better off sticking to Chippewa or the neighborhood Applebees. However, for everything from a family dinner, date night, or drinks with friends, Hardware is easily one of my favorite spots in the city for a nice evening out.
We love Allen St Hardware Cafe. We have been regular customers since they opened and the food has been consistently delicious and the service has been on point every time we go. Two of our favorites are the meatloaf panini and the buttermilk fried chicken.
My favorite Monday night hangout. Excellent food and the staff are all super cool
Great space and good food. Bartenders were nice. Not very cheap, but totally worth it. Good time.
Great spot for dinner and drinks! Definitely one of the best places in Buffalo! The vibe and customer service has always been on point! Always a wonderful experience!
Nice staff and good drinks. Cool Allentown environment. That calamari sauce was spicy ! (but very good) Thank you.
Been going here for years. A+ atmosphere, great food, unusual specials complement a small but excellent menu, great bar.
I don't go too often anymore but it's always a good time. The food is excellent and the staff is super great even when the place is really busy.
Excellent (as always) Bruschetta is TO DIE FOR... Traci (our server/waitress) is THE BEST. We cannot wait to go again soon. 💕
The chef always creates amazing specials and the staff it's wonderful and always so helpful and friendly! I love the food here!
Great food, great people and great atmosphere. The cucumber avocado chilled soup was the perfect thing to start put with after a long day in the heat.
A personal favorite. Slightly crowded when you first walk in, but they have a back room for DJ's and bigger crowds off the back to add more capacity.
Great hang out spot or just to go eat and drink. Also go check out their dance spot, you'll love it!
Great bar selection. Friendly staff. And always a fun environment
Friendliest staff. Great for sit down eating or hanging out at the bar. Great service and the most amazing food! Their burgers are HUGE, fresh and made to order... Anything you want on it. They definitely take care of their patrons and its in a great location. Ive never had a negative experience there and they are reasonably priced.
I've always had a rule that if I go to dinner at Allen St. Hardware and the soup sounds good I will always order it. Always get the soup. This restaurant has been around for years, but the food is consistent and the service is always great. If you go for a late dinner on the weekend it can be a bit loud, as it is a popular bar. Around 6 or 7 though, the atmosphere is more like a neighborhood bar.
Love downtown Buffalo restaurants with casual dress, inviting atmospheres and friendly staff. Stopped in for the first time because of their menu during restaurant week. Small and cozy seating however, very loud patrons at the bar. Hostess and waitress were super friendly and attentive. Our meal started with a field greens salad, tomatoes, red onion, blue cheese crumbles and a balsamic vinaigrette. No complaints here.
Awesome little local spot with great atmosphere. The bartender that took care of me was super friendly. Can't speak too much of the food, but the fries that I ordered were delicious and fed my party of 3 no problem!
Decent....... Use to like it better a few years ago, but I just chalk that up to getting old! lol... Great place. Chill vibe. If the kitchen is still open, they may still have more of a healthy menu (loved their Salmon). Make sure to visit for a great all around experience.
First time here, yet sure to return. Bartender and manager were friendly with great recommends for food and beer. (Both food and drinks were excellent) We also got great advice on local craft breweries in the western NY region. Definitely will return when in Buffalo again!
Very cool staff. I like the bar setup. Monday 75 cent wings are definitely the move, food-wise. They also have events pretty regularly.
Awesome little spot with great beer, awesome food and amazing staff! It's a must stop if you are in the area. Can't wait to go back this evening.
A longtime favorite place to eat, drink, and sometimes dance. My boyfriend and I both had the special last night: roasted duck breast w/smoked maple reduction, sweet potato-bacon hash, and grilled asparagus. So delicious, and the chef came out to see us while we raved to each other about it. He said "I love duck" and we could tell. I always get something off the special menu when I go there and it's always worth it. Take a hundred bucks, at least, for dinner for two and have no regrets getting fine dining quality with an extensive wine list in a Allentown bar atmosphere. They always hire great bartenders too.
Yup, yup, yup. This was one of the first classy joints to hit the Buffalo scene, and it's still good. The food is great, the booze is all top notch, and the service is pretty good. They suffer when it gets busy - and it get's SUPER busy, like standing room only - but they always have a good crowd, music is good, decor is cool. I like this place and have been back many times.
Wonderful food. Comfortable atmosphere. Sturdy stools. Level floors. Toilet paper is almost always stocked. And the bartender, Gary, is the most beautiful soul I've ever encountered. He shared his love of milk and seasonal McDonald's menu items with us. His knowledge of John Hughes' films is unparalleled and he just oozes big Weiner energy. Will definitely be back.
Even tho the band i went there to hear wasnt playing that night after all which they apologized for the mix up, i stayed for a drink and dinner and service was excellent and friendly and the food was delicious and i will go back next wk for the live music. Some nice friendly ppl there too and the guy who recommended I get the blackened salmon was right about how good it and the asparagus was and I'm glad i got it.
Love this place. The bartenders are all knowledgeable and friendly, and the bar itself is accessible and fairly priced. Comfortable environment and good for a night out, and can become a party on the weekends.
For a place that couldn't afford to change the sign on the building the food is great! Not a hardware store, but you can find everything needed to fix your hunger (and thirst). Great waitstaff, will definitely come again.
I was there last night; it was littttt ! Cover fee was 5bucks. There's 2 different areas for dancing and 3 different bar stations. Drinks are probably 50cents cheaper than other places. I had rum and pineapple which is usually 7$ but it was 6.50 there. The dance floor in the back, the dj played old school to current and had some good mixes. Definitely stop in if you're bar hopping!
I had a great time! The crowd was great, the DJ was decent (idk how he was mixing certain songs, but ok). If you going out with friends this night be a good spot to go.
A nice bar, with reasonable prices and events in the back room. The bartenders are pleasant, and it has been nice every time I have been there.
Stopped in for quick sandwich. My server, Teddy, was great. Steak hoagie was wonderful. Opted for the side Caeser salad. Salad was cold and crisp, dressed just right.
We went out Saturday night where it turns into a club; there were two dancefloors/rooms and a DJ in each room. We were in the room with DJ croptop. She was fun and played some good beats. I recommend the place. Cover was $5
If you were planning on getting wings at Gabriel’s Gate, skip the line and go to Allen Street Hardware instead! It’s a few blocks away and you will not be disappointed! Go Bills b ur🏈🦬❤️
Great place - neighborhood bar/ great food - very friendly owners/staff. We found it in "restaurants near Kleinhan's Music Hall" before we saw the Allman Betts Band - perfect place to get a burger or impossible burger before the show!
Stopped in on a Tuesday evening. Had a great meal. The corn chowder was superb. The chef made a special strawberry and feta salad for me. Husband had a burger that was delicious. We have had Cosmopolitans at many Buffalo bars, and these were some of the best. We were happy to meet Tony. He has been a customer at our business and we were happy to enjoy a meal at his business.
Update: I've had food and drinks here now!! The truffle ketchup they serve with their perfectly cooked shoestring fries is amazing!! The wings are decent (Not the best in Buffalo, but not bad.) I really like their chicken sandwich too. The bartenders here are awesome, super great service. Very cool space, I was there for an improv workshop. I did not get to try food or drinks yet, but I'm hoping to head back soon. The building itself is super cool. And they're supporting improv in Buffalo which is fantastic.
A gem in this diverse, eclectic neighborhood. Friendly locals and good food - excellent spot for a post-Nietzsche’s show drink.
Great spot to grab a drink. Super friendly staff!! Bartender was the man, very welcoming.
Love this place!! Never disappointed. Our favorite night is Monday. Great deal on wings that are always perfectly cooked and sauced. Staff is always friendly and welcoming- Dan, Luke, Rob and Gary. Stop in a try the wings and one of the best chicken sammies around.
Hosted a party for 40 people in their back room and they were so lovely and easy to coordinate with! Tony was amazing in the booking process and worked with us to create a delicious vegetarian menu and our bartender Edie was amazing. Highly recommend for a private party (max 50ish people probably).
My night continues (see previous review at “The Old Pink “ for dinner and start of my night) and leads me here to The hardware (another favorite of my OG Buffalo boyfriend). The bartender Garry was one of the most kind hearted man I have met. The drinks were great and the atmosphere was very welcoming. I’d call it cozy and comfortable. This bar was warm and inviting. It wasn’t overly crowded and kept the energy up without being too in your face. Thank you Garry! And Tony was also awesome. He knew the area in and out. Go Tony and Garry!! Also, I have a habit of asking someone to tell me a random fact- about them or anyone else, and I was told to mention Lorenzo. I’ve been told he is an amazing person who deserves kindness and joy. I wish Garry and Lorenzo and Toby an amazing and happy life and I hope to see them soon. Tip them well and enjoy the company of them and amazing people surrounding them.
Have been here two times and really enjoyed my experience. The bartenders are professional and very personable and made me feel comfortable. Have tried the burger, crab cakes and blackened salmon. Wasn’t expecting anything amazing, but I was wrong. Seriously excellent food and absolutely plan on returning. Friendly atmosphere and nice place to grab a drink and food. Highly recommend.
Great food! I had the buttermilk batter fried chicken sandwich and my husband had the NY strip steak sandwich. Delicious! And the hand cut french fries are my favorite! My husband said he'll definitely have the steak sandwich again next time we go. The hostess and servers are very friendly and helpful. Be sure to say hi to Gary serving up the drinks!
Went to go see Pine Fever here with a few friends and the show was really good. Only comment would be that the way they had the band setup half the bar couldn't see them.
Good food. Had chicken sandwiches and both bna and buttermilk ones were moist and tasty. The fries were hand cut and nicely cooked.
This is a good place but when it is packed it is just about unbearable. Unless you're drunk. If you're the sober one in your group, this bar can be overwhelming.
Had a great birthday dinner here last year. The food was delicious and the staff was very helpful and friendly
Good restaurant, food and drink selection. Gary is my favorite by far!!! Parking isn't the best but it's Allentown. It's worth the short walk!
Super laid back and nice crowd
friendly staff and barbacks. backroom was awesome for the no requests event however at some points in the night the venue felt over capacity.
This place has been a favorite of mine for a decade. Large beer selection. Wine and whiskey as well. Sometimes on the weekend there are covers.
Great place. Karaoke now in Mon. KJ Dan Dobson in the house
The food and atmosphere is nice. There's usually limited staff so I tend to sit at the bar for faster service. Which is great because the bar is huge and wraps around to the other side. If you are going to enjoy the food I suggest going during the week. Friday and Saturday nights turn into an overpriced club scene. They charge you to get in (a couple of guys said they had to pay $20 one night) and its super crowded. It gets to a point where the bouncers seem aggravated and aggressive. On a normal day its pretty quiet and a nice place to relax.
Hardware is a fine place to grab a drink. I'm not a huge fan of the fact that there's almost a guaranteed cover if you're going on a weekend. But that normally means there's a DJ. The clientele is normally a class above the other joints on the strip, which is nice. Though lighting is, oddly enough, a lot worse than the other bars. I'm always having trouble seeing in there. Prices for drinks are fair. Plenty of seating. A cramped as hell dance floor. But there is a room out back that can house even more entertainment. Cool place. Like it.
Delicious food, the place is definitely overpriced for food and always packed so the service is a little slow, but the atmosphere is so damn good that you sort of don't even care. Love sitting down to dinner here for the occasional date night. Get the cheese platter if you're a foodie. Usually a reasonable cover on the weekend if you're headed in just to drink.
I love to go to Allen Street Hardware for dinner on Sundays. It is quiet and friendly- the "Cheers" vibe. Bartender, Pat, makes everyone feel at home. The menu is relatively limited but the food is delicious!
Chill vibe, in eclectic neighborhood. The Jamaican Jerk chicken wings were delicious. The fries were a little too salty, but the sauces were tasty. The owner was very accommodating and attentive.
Really cute little pub with an awesome setting. Small menu with some tasty treats that you would expect only in the US, such as a friend bologna sandwich. But the prices are all super fair and they serve up a ton of local brews and cocktails. Located in an awesome part of Buffalo in Allen Town, this is one of the spots we like to visit when we are in the area. Great for locals and tourists alike.
Great drinks, but I didn't get to try the food. Had a great time with my party here. Managed to lose my ring in one of the floor vents, and one of the employees was AMAZING and opened it up to fish it out for me! Appreciated so, so much. Would love to come back and try the food (and not lose my ring again).
Only had some French fries 🍟. They were good.👍🏿
Good drinks and bartenders, bad food.
This is a large bar lots of space a little room to dance but I like their prices one drinks
It was fun but paying for a 15 dollar sex on the beach that taste like juice is crazy. There was also a fight but other than that it was fine.
Maybe we came at the wrong time, but it felt creepy. Bartender was very quick and professional. Honestly felt like a haunted house, but not in the good way. Did not eat. Drinks were fine. Just one man's impression.
Nice ambience , food was good - chicken wings were ok , but I wouldn't say best I've ever had - we only had apps and went to another restaurant so hard to give a full review
If you're planning on dinner there's a very limited dinner menu. We had a meatloaf Panini for $14 no sides. Very cool atmosphere but staff was not friendly.
Ha ha. Great little place for some late night drinks. Always something interesting happening. Goes til late. Well past my bedtime. Owner was a nice guy as were both bartenders we met.
I Went To Hardware Last Night With My Boyfriend And Sister . The Music Could've Been Better And Security Was Horrible Someone Flashed A Gun At My Sister .
Staff was great and drinks were reasonably priced. I just don't really enjoy the layout it is very cramped. Fries that came with our food were cold and stale.
Spent Friday night at Hardware. Seems like a cool bar with a cool vibe but security is a problem. Our friend was robbed in the bathroom and when we asked the bouncer at the door to keep an eye on the guy in question while we followed up with police we watched that same bouncer shake hands with the guy and walk out. Drinks are great, service is great, but watch your back at hardware.
The worst service i had ever rec'd... my guest and I arrived around 7:30p. the server came 15 min later, took our order brought our food no drinks 30 min later. Mind you all.... it was not a lot of folks here not busy at all... lets say the server never came back. Needless to say I had to go to the bar to get my check. The server saw my patiently waiting and comes to me and says... is there anything I an get you? Yes, how about the check. So he says he will bring to me i go back to my table and i watched him it took him literally another 20mins. So lets say this we didn't leave til after 11p all we had was a single order of wings fries and stuffed peppers.... please don't go here...
The entire place smells of toilet water and bathroom. Music was great but couldn’t get past the smell
Very rude bartender. Was appalled after buying a drink, paying for it and having the bartender tell me to go fu#k myself and having me kicked out for no reason.
I just paid like..$11..$12? For a healthier choice and got a salad. Description says "Romaine, bacon, apple, and feta." I got about a half a head Romaine, half a piece of bacon chopped up, four apple slices, and a conservative pinch of feta. If I can figure out how to upload photos to reviews, I'll be sure to do it. Thanks to my wonderful wife and our recent Wegmans trip, we've added some actual food beyond just Romain to it. First time getting food here...hope it was a fluke.
The owner and subsequent staffing reflect a sexist, unwelcoming, and unprofessional establishment. Upsetting to a previously loyal customer of what used to be a staple of the Allen district. Go anywhere else, Buffalo offers plenty of lovely places to visit.
Took our party of 10 over 40 minutes to get food. Had to sit at 2 separate tables since they have no way to set up for more than 8. Served the wrong salads to 2 of us....food was less then average and service was very slow. Disapppinted
The manager Pat defended his employee that insulted a customer for no good reason. Why patronize a place that doesn’t respect their customers in any way? Don’t come here. I’m not coming back.
My girlfriends and I recently decided to visit Allen Street Hardware Restaurant on Allen St in Buffalo, which turned out to be a huge mistake. When we arrived, the hostess told us that it would be a 20-minute wait so we went to enjoy a drink at the bar while we waited. We were finally seated 2 hours after we arrived, only to be treated like complete garbage from the staff. The manager, Tracy, told us there was nothing they could do, that we should have made reservations, that she was not going to split up our checks and that we could walk down the street to an ATM to get cash. Apparently this is all part of their “policy.” Not to mention the food was absolutely disgusting, cold and soaked in grease. Today, my friend who paid the full check (because remember, “they weren’t able to split them") got a Facebook message from the owner, Charlie Goldman. My favorite snippets from the conversation are when he told us to “please don’t ever come back” or “just making sure we don’t ever see you guys again”. What about when he said, “Go to the gym, you will need it.” Allen Street Hardware and Charlie Goldman, is it your policy to tell customers that they will be seated in 20 minutes and let 2 hours go by without acknowledging them? Is it your policy to be completely unaccommodating, rude and nasty to your tables? Is it your policy to harass customers on Facebook and tell us that you don’t care to hear our feedback and that we should go to the gym? I would reconsider your policies because that is not the way to treat a community and paying customers that were willing to give your restaurant a shot.
The short dark skin security guard that work saturday nights is so disrespectful. He try to get with all the women that come into the bar to the point it feel like harassment and when you reject his advances he get very disrespectful call women out their name and can be very aggressive. He is very unprofessional and i will never come back to thus place because of him.
Came in on a Friday night. Bouncers were extremely rude to my girlfriend and I. Started asking us unnecessary questions (like “how much have you had to drink”…are you the police? Never been asked that upon entering a bar). ended up leaving after 1 drink. Won’t be back.
Whatever you do, DO NOT use the atm on the side of the building. The card slot is literally hallowed out and is likely a scam.
As others have said - CHECK YOUR RECEIPT AND BANK STATEMENT after visiting. Went there with a group of friends, bought 1 round of drinks for 6 people, paid for them with my credit card (I did not open a tab), we drank the drinks and left. I left a cash tip but kept my receipt. Checked my credit card statement - I have 2 separate charges from this bar (one charge was the round I paid for and the second charge was not authorized by me and I have no idea what it was for). Tried calling the bar to speak to a manager about it - no answer. Went there in person and was told that it was a hold on my card - which I argued as no bar I have ever been to and bought a single round of drinks at has charged a hold on my card. As of today the pending transaction when through and it was not a hold and in fact is 100% a separate unauthorized charge. Currently disputing the charge through my credit card company since no staff or manager seems to be willing/able to help. Oddly enough, just before writing this review a 3rd random charge came through on my credit card from this bar. I don't recommend going to this bar but if you do, don't use a credit card and keep your receipts!
