I met with the owners in advance to set up a tea party baby shower. They were extremely accomodating and affordable. The spread that they prepared was amazing, the ladies that worked the party were very friendly, and the place has a great atmosphere. Fort Plain is lucky to have this great coffee shop right in the heart of the village. I would highly recommend stopping in for coffee, tea, or a bite to eat!
Amazing paninis and coffee drinks! The staff is always friendly.
Best cafe in the area. Great atmosphere, staff are knowledgeable and on point, pastries and food selection rotates. There's some weird stuff on the menu- don't be afraid to try coffee sangria! The odd stuff is executed perfectly, they aren't gimmicks. Every drink has been made as ordered. High wheeler is next level. -Your snobby Brooklyn barista transplant
The only place I've been to in America that knows how to do an Australian flat white coffee. We love their homemade chocolate twists so much we have to try not to go down there every day. Lovely people, great atmosphere. A real contribution to the local community. It made my day, my month, my year when I discovered this wonderful little cosmopolitan cafe. Brought to you by the owners of The Table, it may be Fort Plain's best kept secret!
Enjoyable ambiance and great coffee! Got a light roast coffee that was locally brewed and tasted excellent. We also got the artichoke & cheese panini which was exceptional! Looking forward to going back
I love coming here, and so does everyone of all ages in my family! Snacks and drinks for everyone in a relaxed environment. They also have several activity nights that appeal to a wide variety of interests. Excellent service. Took my 7 year old son this morning for a mommy/son breakfast "date" and we had a great time drinking warm beverages and snacking while reading together!
I met Rebecca in downtown Albany and she told me about the coffee shop and I have family that lives in the town. I visit quite often and tried out the coffee shop. I love the drip coffee, high quality and delicious. The food is really good as well and it was very clean and relaxing. I will be returning for sure when visiting family. Thank you so much Rebecca for telling me about this little gem! 👍Darcee
Amazing third wave coffee in a beautiful space! Lots of seating and tables, perfect for meeting a friend or doing some work. The food is excellent and all of the coffee is high quality and expertly prepared. Truly a gem in the mohawk valley!
This place is the absolute best!! I drive 40 mins one way to get there and it is always worth it! The new cheese foam is basically cheesecake whipped cream and is absolutely to die for on top of an iced latte. I WILL be back very soon! Oh! And the cranberry orange muffin I had this morning as well was so moist and full of flavor and jam packed with walnuts, cranberries and orange. I could go on about this place but fo yourself a favor and try it for yourself!!
Great little café with ample seating and power strips/wi-fi for those of us who work remotely and want a nice place to sit and enjoy some quality coffee. They have non-dairy options for lattes, including oat milk! If you haven't tried an oat milk latte, stop in and prepare to fall in love. Great, friendly service. Clean establishment. Great coffee and pastries. They serve light lunch but I haven't tried it - yet. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
Wow, what a gem! The panini are so tasty and the cold brew is excellent. The staff are also super friendly. Really high quality place. So glad we came across it! Definitely worth a stop.
We are in town for a night and wanted to grab a quick cup of coffee. What a find this place was. Staff was super friendly, pastries were great, and the coffee was top notch. Couldn’t recommend this place more.
This was my first visit there but it had been recommended by several friends. The menu was short and I suppose rotates on a regular basis and the items were all interesting and tasty. The two staff members I believe owners were very friendly and helpful. I would be happy to eat there again the next time I was in town.
Wonderful experience, full-bodied, flavorful cappuccino with just the right amount of fluff. Paired w probably the best panini I've had...turkey, jack cheese, aioli and crispy, tender grain bread that didn't take over the sandwich! 😋
Highwheeler Coffee is a small gem in what is otherwise a sleepy little town. It is an excellent place to stop for a quick pick-me-up, a nice warm sit-down coffee, or anything in between! Not to mention, the clean and cozy atmosphere makes you want to pick up one of their many books (which are for sale) from the shelves and dive in!
Love this place! The coffee is fantastic, the establishment looks pristine every time I'm in there, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend! You can even order ahead on the Odeko app!
The best coffee I’ve ever had in my life, plus they have a full list of syrups and you’re free to choose whatever flavors you feel like which I’ve never come across before
Had a great coffee and baked treat. Staff are friendly. If you're in town you can't go wrong stopping here. There's bike racks out front too.
Best coffee in the Mohawk Valley! Welcoming environment and my go to place for coffee!
Awesome atmosphere and staff we love coming here every Saturday
Fantastic cappuccinos I like em dry Everything I tried here was really good Friendly staff too
I've been to Saratoga, Cooperstown, Philadelphia, New York city and every place I go I'm in search of a great coffee shop with 3 things. 1. Good quality coffee, 2. A great ambiance, and 3. World class customer service. Rarely do I find all 3 in one place. Well Highwheeler Coffee is one of the few with all 3. Just an amazing place to go so if your in the area don't hesitate because you won't be disappointed.
Nice atmosphere, great espresso drinks, and tasty healthy smoothies. Service is friendly. And WiFi is strong enough to work on. Truly an oasis, especially for bike touring along the Eerie Canalway.
The staff are warm and welcoming, and the manager is an absolute gem of a person. They offer high quality tea and coffee and take great care in preparing it. Their baked goods come in both classic and unique for the adventurous and cautious cafe-goer. Clean and pleasant environment, plus you can buy the books on the shelves!
Love this place! The quality is top-notch, the baristas are super knowledgeable and the environment itself is incredibly inviting. They have so many unique house-made syrups that I haven't seen anywhere else before. So grateful to have found this place and always excited to try something new!
Didn't get any food here, BUT the coffee is amazing (coming from a certified coffee snob). Service was also lovely! Will be coming back whenever we're in town :)
This is a wonderful place with great vibes! They offer lots of vegetarian and vegan drink options, which I really appreciate. I recently had the Tortured Poets iced coffee with a lemon trifle, and the drink was just as amazing as Taylor Swift’s album. I love the creative spirit of this place!
Clean, welcoming and great flow of the space. Great selections for coffee & espresso. Vegan and gluten free options for baked goods along with others. Some local products and photography for sale. Mango smoothly and vanilla bourbon latte were delicious!
We stopped here during our Erie Canal Trail bike trip… what a great find! They have a bike rack out front, which is much appreciated. Tasty paninis and lots of great coffee drink and smoothie options. They also have some cute artisan wares for sale. We really enjoyed stopping in here and would definitely come again!
This is hands down the best coffee place I have ever been to! From matcha to teas to smoothies, and even limited items like Boba; It’s to die for! The food is amazing as well. You can tell it’s homemade, with healthy product and suitable for any dietary restrictions. If you want to be in tune with your body and take care of your gut health and YOU, this is the perfect place . Paninis, soups, scones, overnight oats, puddings, bubble waffles, breakfast sandwiches (I hate eggs but they still managed to make me like it!)- All made amazingly each time. The environment is the perfect combination of small town and city feel. The staff are so friendly, Becca (the owner) is absolutely fantastic with such a genuine energy about her. I have stopped in quick, I’ve played cards here, I’ve come to have a cup of coffee with friends, I’ve read my poetry at open mic, and even spent hours writing my book here. I guess you could say I’ve turned into a regular, and I can attest that from Amsterdam to Utica this is the best place you’ll find and worth every penny<3
Delicious cold brew coffee and breakfast wraps, a wide variety of beverage menu options, and tasty pastries. Great location with good vibes.
Love this coffee shop and wish it was closer to where I live! I love the parfaits on Wednesdays! Also got a great iced chai with almond milk and it was so good 😊
Yes to bike friendly businesses! This one has a bike rack out front. Also such lovely service and in addition to great coffee, some cute finds inside (I got a pair of handmade earrings).
Perfect coffee while out riding my bicycle along the empire state trail!

I have been a regular at Highwheeler for several years. I love going there. The coffee drinks are excellent, better than Starbucks or Dunkin Donut. I saw a review that was negative about the staff. I think somebody had a bad day or assumed they were being mocked. The staff are joyful and they do laugh, but never AT customers. I have been there on different days and different times and these gals are kind and sweet. This is a wonderful coffee cafe and I like going there because of the quality and positive vibes.
Amazing service and the drinks are so delicious, very kind staff. The atmosphere of the place is top notch for anyone who likes finding a pretty place to do some art. 10/10 will come back again!
I've been going to the High Wheeler Cafe for over 5 years now, every week, and I've always had a great experience every time. The staff is friendly, the drinks are amazing, and the food is always fresh.
Really amazing environment, servers was and is awesome, food is delicious and the cafe is really good 🤤 will recommend come with friends to enjoy a good time, staff are friendly and generous you won't regret it 😉
I couldn't believe it when they opened up right after we moved here. Thank goodness it is exactly what we needed a nice Gathering Place with good food awesome people and a lovely atmosphere
We wandered off the bike path and along Main St. This place caught our eye and we are so glad we stopped by. A friendly oasis of java! I also tried a muffin—good stuff. Nice vibe, cool staff, and comfy atmosphere. Give it a go!
Amazing coffee flavors and super nice staff even near their closing time

Great little spot I should have come to months ago. Has a cute vibe and great service. Coffee and muffin were amazing for only $9. Very reasonable!

Atmosphere open and airy with combination of seating options. Nice selection of coffees and pastries. Pricey, but higher quality of selections makes it a find in a small town.
Service was great, and coffee was the best. However went there for lunch on a Saturday and the menu was extremely limited offering a choice of only 4 sandwiches/paninis, and 1 kind of soup. The paninis were "premade" so you couldn't order it any differently. The server was very friendly and our lunch was served quickly.
First time going there. They said they were short staffed they didn't have the special that was posted on social media, which was okay. We ordered the only available option besides the pastries that were in the case. Which were breakfast sandwiches using pancakes for bread. The pancakes were hard and rubbery. We did dine in, and we were served in paper cups and had to get plastic forks, so maybe that's why we had trouble cutting through the pancakes. The sausage was the only good part of that sandwich. They are getting low stars mainly for their coffee. I ordered a cappuccino, which had a very burnt flavor/sediment to the point where I tossed half of it on the way out. The hot cocoa my husband ordered wasn't much better. It is a cute place with what looks like a great social media presence, so maybe that is what let me down that bad. I will randomly be back and order other coffees and drinks to see if they are any better. The female cashier was okay but snappy. We were the only ones in there at first, so it wasn't like there was a line. At least the meal itself was on an actual plate since we decided to stay in. Everyone has an off day, but I did notice the same attitude towards the other 3 people who walked in behind us. On the positive side, there was a bathroom(I didn't use it), and it was clean and organized in there. They played country music and had art for sale from local artists priced at $525-$625 from the side I was sitting at and some other stuff for sale. 2 small drinks and 2 pancake sandwiches were $21, which is fair. Hopefully, I'll be able to say something more positive about the food or drinks in the future.

Yeh. So sorry to see this place take such a nosedive. We stop in 4-5 times a year but today was our last. Do not bother going after 2pm. The staff are too busy on social media to be bothered. Fridays are the worst. Definitely their social life is a priority. Two small coffees and two danish were $14. Paper cups and they can't heat the danish. Better coffee and friendlier people at Stewarts.

The baristas will make fun of you after you take your order and sit
Unfortunately, we were hugely disappointed in our visit to the High Wheeler. We so looked forward to going. We had viewed the avocado toast special posted on Facebook and we so looked forward to having it. We got there at 11 am. A group of women stood in the way of our entry to the counter. We tried to order the avocado toast and we were told it was sold out, even though they are open till 2 pm. We were told that all they had to offer were the few pastries in the case and coffees and teas. We ordered one gingerbread latte and left. The gingerbread latte was good. It was small and we left with no breakfast sandwich or anything. We won't go back.
Edit: There was no misunderstanding. I thought I'd found a place where I could get a good coffee, and feel safe. I was so very wrong. Potential customers need to know that at Highwheeler coffee, people who are different are not only not welcome, but will be ridiculed. I was openly mocked and ridiculed by staff. I'm never going back.
