Absolutely fantastic evening on Saturday, food was fantastic, wine was lovely, service was great and entertainment was enjoyable upstairs . Would recommend for dates or special occasions, we had the steak marinated in black garlic and treacle it was lovely.

My wife and I visited here for a date night while having a break in Chester. The service was excellent, from arriving we were greeted and shown to our seats, the building and presentation and atmosphere is fantastic and it makes you feel like you are in a special place. The food is brilliant, we ordered and the meat literally melts when eaten, the dinner was filling and very nice. We had a great time here and would easily recommend a visit especially if looking for somewhere romantic, date night or a special occasion.

Emily was front of house and served us too. From the moment I met her and asked for a table for 2.5 people and a pram she was just so lovely, thoughtful and kind. She was attentive and flexed around my guests coeliac requirements and my 0.5’s demands for urgent mash! She’s the personification of true hospitality. Mark was also great. The new menu is delicious and I’m taking my husband back for his birthday in a weeks’ time.

Absolutely brilliant service. Food was exceptional. Attentive staff especially marc and Clark. Made my wife's birthday extra special and so caring towards our needs. Beautiful meal and stunning place to eat. A must visit at least once in a life time, will definitely be returning very soon.

We dined here on Saturday evening to celebrate my mums birthday. From the moment we arrived the service was excellent . We had my little girl with us so they had a high chair ready and couldn’t be more helpful, even making some food for her we requested. Between 3 couples we ordered 3 of the ‘treacle steak experiences’ and the steaks was cooked perfectly. The food overall was 10/10 and the service even better, and a little mention to Paulo who couldn’t be more helpful. We don’t come here often unfortunately as we don’t live nearby but we look forward to dining again soon! Thanks again ☺️

Had such a great evening at Opera Grill in Chester! The atmosphere is lively but still relaxed, making it a lovely spot for a night out. I ordered the fillet steak and it was cooked to absolute perfection – tender, full of flavour, and easily one of the best I’ve had in a long time. What really stood out though was the service. Jemima took care of us all evening and she was fantastic – so friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. Nothing was too much trouble and she added such a nice personal touch to the experience. Great food, amazing service, and a brilliant vibe – can’t wait to come back!

Consistently superb service and excellent food from ingredients to presentation. Chelsea Ivy vibe without the white table linen. Wonderful dining whether it’s with our children or for adults. Special mention to Paulo and Emily for making the children so welcome.

After two previous attempts failing due to ill health it was great to finally enjoy the delights of Opera Grill in Chester. We had booked general seating but on arrival were pleasantly surprised to be taken upstairs to a lovely terraced dining area with live music adding to the atmosphere. The space had a great vibe and after settling in we were warmly welcomed by our server. We started with some fresh bread which was really nice before moving on to our steaks which were cooked beautifully, paired with excellent chips. Even though we were already full dessert was a must and both choices were delicious. The whole evening lived up to expectations and made it well worth the third attempt. We really enjoyed our time and will definitely look forward to returning again in the future.

Opera hosted our wedding reception on Sat 4th Oct. The staff and venue absolutely exceeded all our expectations! Nothing was too much trouble and the food was superb. To all the waiting and bar staff, the Chefs, management and a special mention to Zara Abraham, thankyou all so much! I wish I remembered more names because you all deserve recognition for making our special day one to remember! Ben and Teri.

Great food and atmosphere. Took our 8 week old baby out for food the first time and it was great during Sunday lunch Hours. Thank you to Amelia who was amazing and made our experience even better. All the team were great.

We always have a good experience in Opera, whether work or personal evenings. Gary and the team work hard to accommodate us. The new terrace is pretty special and a nice place to spend the evening. I normally enjoy the black cod or a sharing steak, the chimi-churi is excellent.

Me and my husband shared the Treacle Steak, it was the best steak we have ever eaten, we wasn’t really sure what to expect but it exceeded all our expectations. The service was quick and our waitress was great, it was a special occasions and they spoiled us with a free dessert which we appreciated. We are leaving the country soon but have decided we have to return to have this one last time.

We had such a wonderful evening celebrating a birthday at Opera Grill, and Annie truly made the experience special for all five of us. From the moment we arrived, she was warm, attentive and incredibly professional. She made us feel welcome, kept everything running smoothly, and added such a lovely energy to the night. Nothing was too much trouble, and she made sure we had everything we needed while still giving us space to enjoy the celebration. Service like this really makes a difference, and Annie is a real credit to the team. Thank you for helping make our birthday celebration so memorable!

Had a pre-christmas eve dinner which was complimented by both food and service from mainly Halle who was very attentive, aswell as Mario, Hayden, the bar staff Max, and managers Marc and Simran. Very enjoyable evening, thank you to everyone.

Absolutely amazing restaurant, fabulous place to eat, first time here but won't be the last, I had Salmon Sashimi starter, Fillet Mignon Steak & Beef Dripping Chips, Wife had Duck Rolls & Caesar Salad, Daughter had, Chilli Squid & Crispy Duck Salad and a Strawberry Cheese Cake. everything about this restaurant was absolutely brilliant.

Awesome atmosphere. Elegant and classy decor and ambiance. It's quite big and spacious, so has a fair number of tables. Yet it is not overcrowded. The service is organised, and the staff is warm, friendly, and efficient. There was a very good DJ and then a thorughly talented R&B band that performed. It was such a lovely atmosphere. Great menu. The food was delicious and of high quality. A little pricey, but good value for the overall experience. I would definitely dine there again when next I'm in Chester. I highly recommend.

Paulo was wonderful tonight He was so knowledgeable it’s our wine choice. He made our experience so much more enjoyable.

We went to the Opera Grill for a Christmas family gathering and had a truly lovely experience. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was warm and festive, and it made for a perfect setting to celebrate together. A special mention to Paulo, who did a fantastic job of looking after us — attentive, friendly, and professional throughout. He really helped make the afternoon memorable. We’ll definitely be returning.

Had an amazing experience at Opera for my son's 18th birthday with family. We did initially have an issue as we booked the music room but when we arrived had been placed downstairs. They promised to try to get us a table upstairs but after being seated decided to stay where we were. From here on in, the experience was impeccable. The food, atmosphere and service (in particular, Mario). Was second to none. Every detail taken care of and pre empted. Remebering each order for everyone, swapping out the cutlery for dishes ordered and keeping the glasses topped up before you realised you even needed it. Mario made the transition between courses seamless and attended to the table brilliantly. There was a live singer performing as well a dj. The venue was packed and had a real buzz in the air. Seemed like a great place to go for a drink as well as to have a meal. Although might be a bit loud for some, we loved it. At the end the general manager and coordinator came up to us, apologised for the mix up over the seating and gave us a generous contribution as way of good will. Would highly recommend for the overall experience

Very lovely evening dinner, celebrating the mother in laws birthday. Service from Pauli was friendly and very helpful, atmosphere was lovely and food was very good! Lovely evening had by all.

Love Opera, our second visit never disappoints. Didn’t have a reservation but no issues. Amelia looked after us so well. The lunch menu was exquisite with great portions. Very attentive staff. Will certainly return it’s been too long.

Came for my friends 40th birthday on a table of 14 and cannot fault a thing! Staff were amazing and so was the food. Bianca is such a gem! What a lovely girl! down to earth and attentive, she made our night. Thank you all but especially Bianca! Xxxx

We were celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary having been treated by our son and daughter. The food was amazing, we really enjoyed the entertainment and the overall ambience was excellent. We had a couple of hiccups but having worked in the industry I understand that mistakes can happen. For me, what makes the difference is how you put it right and both Annie and Oscar excelled. They were thoroughly engaging and empathetic and displayed all the customer service skills you would expect from a high quality establishment. We really enjoyed our evening and will definitely come back - thank you!

Paulo was our amazing waiter tonight and he made us feel unbelievably welcome and was very attentive. Our glasses were always full and the service and celebration evening was excellent. We look forward to our next visit

Isaac the bar manager deserves a mention after making sure we were served at the bar with the same care and attention of those at tables received. The bar was packed and the atmosphere was great with all the pre Christmas celebrations. Nothing was too much trouble and they made my birthday very special ! We were staying in Chester on Boxing Day night and decided to give this place a try for a drink at around 10pm, as it was opposite our hotel. The outside of the building was decorated beautifully for Christmas and the inside is very impressive and attractive. There was a DJ and Saxophonist playing, which created a fantastic atmosphere. The service was very professional and drinks were served quickly, with an extensive selection of wines and spirits. We really enjoyed this place and stayed until closing - it seemed to be a really great crowd of people inside and everyone was having a good time dancing to the live music. We'd come back if we were ever in Chester!

I had the most wonderful dining experience at this restaurant! From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for the evening. Our waitress, Jemima, was absolutely outstanding – attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely friendly. She made us feel completely at ease and gave spot-on recommendations that elevated the meal. Oscar, the manager, also went out of his way to check in on our table and ensure everything was perfect. It’s rare to see that level of personal attention, and it really shows how much pride he takes in creating a memorable experience for every guest. The food itself was phenomenal – beautifully presented, full of flavor, and clearly made with care. Combined with the top-notch service from Jemima and the thoughtful oversight from Oscar, it turned what could have been just a nice dinner into something truly special. I can’t recommend this place enough. If you’re looking for great food and even better service, this is the spot.

This was our first visit here and we really enjoyed it. The food was amazing as were the cocktails. The service was first class from start to finish. Although the music was a little loud (I'm an older gentleman 😁) we'll definitely be visiting again when we visit Chester. Thank you for a wonderful evening ❤️

This was a treat and we were both really looking forward to it, especially as it was an expensive restaurant. We booked for 6pm and were told to wait at the bar initially. Despite booking, we weren't given our table until 6:30pm as they had seated other people and had forgotten about us. When we were seated, it took 20 minutes to get our order despite asking earlier. It was 50 minutes from when we arrived when we finally ordered. The food did come quickly which was good, but the medium rare steak we ordered had an awful charred outside which made the steak unpleasant. The starter of Korean chicken was really good and so was the dessert. But sadly the main was a let down. They forgot about my boyfriend's dessert and I found the waitress to be rude and inattentive. We sat with our bill for 20 minutes and no one bothered to come over with a card reader. In my opinion this is an expensive and luxury place to go for food and sadly they did not provide service that matched the restaurant. It was slow and there was barely anyone in the upstairs restaurant. I am highly disappointed and I had been looking forwards to this for weeks. A male waitress took the desserts off our meal and I told him the reason for removing the service charge as I feel this restaurant needs to be told their service is not up to standard. Overall, I would not return and they have let themselves down. What a shame!

Visited Opera last night for a meal. I ordered steak and my partner ordered the burger. I don’t think it was worth the money at all. We ordered appetisers and they didn’t come. The meals just came and we were asked if we still wanted them so I said no. My steak was lukewarm, mushroom cold, broccoli side was stone cold. I shouted the waiter and he apologised and said he would get some fresh. I was already half way through my meal when they arrived. I did tell him about my other food items being cold but I said I would just deal with it. When the bill arrived the broccoli was still on and I asked for it to be removed, I thought it would have been in the first place. I don’t think the steak meal was worth what we paid, I’ve had nicer in other places. The ambience and setting were lovely, it’s a stunning place just a real shame we were let down by the food. The service was slow but our waiter was really nice so no reflection on him. Just an honest review.

We visited and ordered the Sunday roast beef, asking for it medium, but unfortunately it was incredibly tough – we couldn’t even cut through it with a steak knife. The roast potatoes were also extremely dry, with skins that were almost impossible to cut. We had to send the dish back as it was simply inedible – like chewing rubber. We then ordered the steak for two (£100), which looked fantastic when it arrived. While the presentation was great, it was again over-charred on the outside and just okay in the middle. I’m not sure what’s going wrong in the kitchen, but the quality of the main dishes was a real letdown. Only the trimmings were enjoyable. On a more positive note, the service was excellent. Big shout out to staff and the Manager – they were all welcoming, professional, and handled the situation with great care. The ambience is incredible – the space looks fantastic and has so much potential. It’s just a real shame that the food didn’t live up to the rest of the experience.

Very disappointed that we traveled an hour for the Sunday gospel choir - when it stated on insta it was available on the 28th. It wasn’t on due to lack of bookings. Bit disappointing with it all. As when we was here in October the server said it was an amazing Sunday. The host Gary did listen to our concern but sided with the venue. So off to Manchester to Albers Schloss for a Sunday dinner with entertainment. Table 91 charged £31.35 for two drinks with no ambience or atmosphere. My advice - check before you book. As they will defend the venue rather than you as a paying customer. Social media stated it was available which was booked at 11:38 but not when arrived at 1600. All opinions my own.

So tonight we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary and we thought this place might be a nice place to celebrate 30 years together. We were very mistaken and we couldn't wait to leave.The starters were very poor and expensive. My husband had two duck spring rolls and a dip and it was £13. Honestly, the spring rolls looked like they came from the frozen aisle in Tesco. Very poor quality and very poor quantity!! My tempura prawns were very poor as well just battered prawns - no taste at all and nothing tempura about them. They knew it was our 30th wedding anniversary so they put us beside two tables of Christmas party goers. We asked to move to a quieter table and were duely obliged. We had to wait half an hour for a table where nobody was sitting until we sat there. We couldn't quite understand that as we watched from the bar. The mains were better but very ordinary and very chain pub style. The dessert, was a passionfruit creme brulee. It had obviously curdled and after one mouthful I was nearly sick. It was vile and completely inedible. We complained but nothing was done about it. All the waiter seemed to be interested in was a review and we were asked twice to review the meal - It was all rather pushy !! I walked out in the end, I was disgusted, my husband paid the bill and was asked about a review again. All in all, a very uninspiring, over -priced meal and a disappointing meal, dressed up in a posh outer cover ( the building is lovely) we will never go back. There are so many much nicer places in Chester to eat. The Opera was a huge disappointment and on a very important night for us ( our Pearl wedding anniversary) it ruined our evening completely. :( :( I have given one star but really would have liked to have given no stars. Very poor 😢

Booked a table on the 11th of October 2025 for my daughter's birthday. The atmosphere, layout and live music upstairs was great. But everything else was below standard if not appalling from the service to our table to the food itself. How many basic things can you get wrong? Stating the facts below. - Forgot to bring our food, waiting over 1h30min, then had to check with the staff and they said they forgot our order. - We paid extra for live music, but by the time we got our food, the band stopped playing. - Ordered 6x steaks, including fillet. 5x were inedible so barely touched because too chewy.(I guess they had no good cut left and gave us what was left). - They forgot to bring the birthday cake, again I had to got at the bar to check/remind etc.. - Sauce to accompany the steaks missing, no seasoning - Charged for porno start martini (alcohol free), that we didn't have. I appreciated the supervisor at the end to come to us, after we complained, and gave us a discount for the meal. Also he as offered us for 4x people to come back for free, and received an email to invite us the following days. However, since we've responded to this email and were going to book this Saturday but nobody got back to us to acknowledge or confirming anything after waiting 10 days and chasing, so really put off by the place and will not come back again.
