On paper all these points seem simple BUT El Mariachi Tequila Bar brings them to life with a flair. Chips were very airy light tasty not greasy. Two different salsas. Both very tasty and addictive. one Smoky one not Not hot at all. Quesabirria tacos VERY delicious. beans rice & consomme. Lovely little condiments. Wonderful experience. Everything may have seemed simple but much more elevated flavorwise. Even the iced tea was very very good. service was exceptional Dessert was flan Brownie...perfect ending. Was determined to finish dessert Even though I was full. I didn't have to eat anything else until the next day I was so full Decor is nice too. I hope they invite me back.
Loved our time here! The drinks and food were delicious. Definitely enjoy the patio if you can! My taco salad was full of the flavors I love. Husband’s shrimp and pollo was his favorite dish. Daughter’s vegetarian poblano burrito was all she’d hoped for and gave her lunch for the next day. My blackberry margarita was amaaazing, husband’s avacado mango margarita was out of this world. Then we had a happy hour sangria that was made from scratch - not too sweet and balanced with spices that made it perfect.
I had the best time with my girlfriends at El Mariachi! Our server Aurora was so kind and friendly. We were celebrating my birthday, and Aurora went out of her way to make the celebration special. Her smiling face and kind personality went a long way. She made the day special with excellent recommendations, prompt and friendly service with refills for our bottomless margaritas, and a bright personality that made the day so special. I had so much fun! The host, Lupe, was also so friendly. He gave great recommendations on house specials and was funny and kind. We had a blast! I cannot stop smiling! Thank you you for such a fun girly brunch day! Will come here again!
Absolutely amazing all around! They make fresh chips and great salsa
Came here for the bottomless mimosas and was quite surprised by the excellent service and yummy food! Armando was a great waiter, always checking on our table and on top of refills. Highly recommend and will be coming back:)
Absolutely fantastic time at El Mariachi. Went for a boozy all you can drink mimosa brunch, and they were more than generous and on top of refilling the mimosas. Partner and I went with the Birria Grilled Cheese (s/o Guy Fieri) and it was as just as wonderful as you would imagine it to be. Will be back here!
If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food with some modern flare, this is the place for you. The food is absolutely delicious and comes out to the table well presented and hot! The service was exceptional and the atmosphere is fun and authentic.
Great food, friendly service, and awesome margs. I had a great dinner at El Mariachi last weekend. I ordered the cheese enchiladas with elote and black beans. They had great flavor! The classic margarita is the perfect combination of sweet and tart at a great price. It was raining, but next time I’ll be sure to check out their massive patio in the back.
Where to start drinks food dessert. Carne asada costeña is amazing my favorite of all the dishes. Drinks again where do I start . (See photos) And my go to dessert fried ice cream. 🔥🔥🔥
Everything was superb as always. Everyone in our group of four raved about their meals. Drinks, apps, entrees, service, all top-notch. Love this place as do our friends from Canada. They never miss a trip to El Mariachi when they are in town.
My 1st time patronizing this establishment was in April of this year for a spontaneous brunch and I’ve been a loyal repeat customer EVER SINCE! First off I’ve never felt more welcomed at any other establishment I’ve been to. My experiences here have never been anything SHORT of amazing from beginning to end from the service down to the food, drinks & dessert. Big shout out to Roberto the General Manager & Aurora from the wait staff who are amazing at what they do. We had so many laughs last night. It was a night to remember. If you both see this We love you 🫶🏽 Yesterday we indulged in Chips & Salsa, A 3 Margarita Flight (Paloma, Catrina & Paloma Blanca) 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Shrimp enchilada dinner (not pictured) Carne a la tampiqueña dinner 😋 Tequila shot flight 🤌🏽 & a Pumpkin Bread / Flan dessert (don’t remember the actual name) but OMG amazing 🤤 Ohhhh & let’s not forget the Tequila dinners they have every few months that offer a 3 course meal that’s pairs with a signature margarita for each course, followed by a tequila flight and a presentation by Tequila reps and usually accompanied by gifts or trinkets by said company for all guests in attendance. You must prepay a flat rate which includes taxes & tip usually around $80 and it’s so worth it. I’m a west side resident and I go out of my way to make the trip here because this place is a whole vibe 😌 This place is a 10/10 for me & my cousin!!!!
Came for restaurant week and received the bottomless mimosas! The atmosphere was great! As soon as your mimosa was low they immediately come refill your glass! I will definitely be back!
Food was yummy! Service took a bit at first but then we got checked on regularly & they were rly good about filling up our waters too. I got the Zapata Skillet & my friend got the Plaintain French Toast. I rly liked my meal! I don’t live around here so I’ll prbly never go back unless I’m in the area. We had some Jell-O shots in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month starting today!
A relative recommended this place to us, it was worth trying out. Food was delicious, service was great, the outside patio is super romantic at night with the lights and music. We both had the Pollo En Salsa with Suiza. Come try it out for yourself!
You can’t beat $32 bottomless mimosa brunch WITH ENTREE INCLUDED. I’ve been several time and have never been disappointed. You take one sip of your mimosa and they refill it immediately. 😭😭 can’t recommend highly enough.
I was thrilled to, by chance, revisit this restaurant, after having a fantastic experience here 8yrs ago. I remembered their lovely patio, & was delighted to be able to eat out there again. David was our server, he was excellent, took fantastic care of us. The manager stopped by too, to check on us. And the food....outstanding! I wish I lived so I could visit more often! (I ordered the Ensalada Tropical)
Food was great! Drinks were delicious. We had dishes from the fixed menu for Chicago Restaurant week. My kids tried other dishes from the regular menu. We will definitely be back.
The experience at Mariachi’s was great! It was a lively crowd of guests and the service was great. A special shout out to Roberto, the GM, who checked on us from start to finish. He was incredibly pleasant and ensured we had a great experience. 10/10 would recommend :)
Wow, this is one of the best Mexican restaurants I have eaten at. Not only is the food delicious, the menu is quite diverse and not just filled with the standard dishes available at every other Mexican restaurant. And on top of it, the have a rotating menu of ever changing special dishes. Even the bar has stepped up their game and has unusual drinks. We had cucumber-jalapeno margaritas, on the rocks, and in a pitcher. They even had several carefully chosen craft beers on tap (great choices for a Mexican restaurant) that I have never had before. Chips and 2 salsas were clearly homemade. The appetizer we enjoyed, and its a must order if you like plantains, was the Sopes Oaxaquenos. Our entree was the enchiladas poblanos - chicken enchiladas with a fantastic poblano cream sauce, esquite corn and roasted garlic rice were the side dishes. The dining room and bar were also well designed and the service was great. Definitely check this place out.
Stop by to grab a drink here. Great atmosphere, great menu even though I didn’t order a drink. I got a strawberry margarita, and while it want the best one I’ve had, it was a decent drink. Free chips and salsa which is always a plus in my book.
Excellent experience for Sunday brunch and enjoyed bottomless mimosas. I had the Zapata Skillet. Also, great fresh tortilla chips! I will definitely return for more.
If you're in the mood for some great Mexican food and some great drinks, I'd definitely recommend El Mariachi. In my opinion, they have hands down the best margaritas on the rocks I've tried so far. The food was both delicious and excellent! The fried ice cream is for sure a great way to end your meal here. Service and staff were phenomenal and made me feel at home.
Been trying to try this place for weeks and it was finally open! Real steak - looking forward to leftovers for days and coming back for veggie options Thanks guys 🌻
Moving back to Chicago after 3+ years, and coming back to El Mariachi I'm so happy it still has the level of excellence I remember. Everyone here is so nice, Sandra was our waitress and was incredible! Thank you for the recommendation of mangorita. The fajitas were delicious and full of flavor. Can't wait to come back.
Armando was absolutely stellar! Dined in tonight and he gave us the best service. He was very knowledgeable when explaining the menu and provided options that worked with my dietary restrictions. Thank you, I will be back and sure to recommend this cute spot to my friends!
David was our server and he was great. Knowledgeable about the food offered some great recommendations. I have already shared this restaurant with many of my friends because of him.
We had the BEST experience thanks to our amazing waiter, Armando! From the moment we sat down, he made us feel welcome and taken care of. His energy was so warm and he went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. He had great recommendations, was super attentive without being overbearing, and made the whole experience feel special. You can tell he truly cares about his guests and takes pride in his work. Thank you, Armando, for making our day so memorable! We will definitely be back and hope to see you again!
The place was easy to find. I made a reservation online so our table was ready when we got there but it didn't seem busy until we left after noon. We had very nice and speedy service and they kept the unlimited mimosa drinks full! The food was amazing!
The tortilla chips are so so good, best I've ever had. Food was excellent and service was fast. Cocktails were also top notch.
Excellent!! I was warmly greeted by the hostess that made me feel like family. Placed a pickup order and waited outside with my dog. They were smiling and very kind and brought my order out to me!! Food was tasty.
Aurora R was CLOCKED in and ready to SERVE!!! Had a blast with my best friend and ex boyfriend drinking bottomless mimosas. Yep, you read that right. An amazing and beautiful time with people I cherish. Thank you El Mariachi for a beautifully unique Valentine’s Day! Life’s what you make it, so let’s make it right. ❤️❤️❤️
Really great bottomless mimosas deal - $30 for bottomless + an entree. The skillets are delicious and a good portion - I got the Zapata skillet. The vibe inside is vibrant with good music. Friendly staff. French toasts are not worth the price due to the low quality. Coming back here for the skillets!
Went with a group for a birthday brunch celebration. The service was very good, our mimosa glasses were definitely bottomless as no one ever saw the bottom of their glass! 🥂 Our drinks were topped off frequently. The food arrived quickly and was tasty, nothing was extraordinary, but good. We would recommend it for group get together or celebrations.
I ordered door dash delivery. The food was good! I Had a steak chimichanga, with black beans and rice with guac. I would have given them a 5 but the beans tasted canned and the steak needed more flavor. Other than that, it was hot on delivery, they followed the instructions such as no sour cream and they give you salsa and chips even though it was a delivery order. A LOT. I definitely would like to come and sit down inside one day!
They have great food, great chips and dip, and a cool atmosphere. We had the steak burrito Suizo style and s veggie burrito. They were both huge and really good. Definitely fill you up. The millionaire margarita is also really good. Love that they had TVs so I could keep tabs on the bowl games. Only downside was the temperature inside there. First we were sitting next to the window and the draft was freezing cold. Moved away from the windows and it was still cold but not as bad. All in all a good experience.
The food was good, as was the service. The fajitas are big and tasty. You her complimentary chips and salsa too. Margaritas are good, but could be a little stronger. They have a huge outdoor area out back. Guacamole was good too. If you have room, get the flan. It was good. Everything was good.
Service was excellent and staff very accommodating. Very nice Mexican decor and atmosphere. I had a burrito and it was very good, as were the 2 sides, lime rice and corn.
Really great weekend brunch ($32 for bottomless mimosas + an entree) 10am - 3pm. Weekday happy hour 4pm - 6pm includes $7 margaritas, $4 beers, and half off select appetizers (e.g. taquitos, quesadillas).
Hit up El Mariachi Tequila Bar & Grill in Lakeview last weekend, and it was a solid vibe. Started with their tableside guac—super fresh and fun to watch them whip it up right there. I went for the steak fajitas, and my buddy had the enchiladas verdes; both were on point. We also tried a couple of their margaritas—can't go wrong with those. The place has a cozy, festive feel with cool decor, and the staff was friendly, though service was a tad slow since it was packed. Dropped about $60 for the two of us, which felt fair for the quality and portions. Definitely a spot I'd recommend if you're in the area and craving some good Mexican eats.
Went for Valentine’s Day with my husband. Relaxed atmosphere, good food and nice ambiance. Food was mild not too hot. Great portion size. Nice, would go back..
I enjoy a nice dinner of chicken enchiladas with mole and a Paloma. The drink was well made and much better than most places. Mole is increasingly hard to find and was glad they offer it. The food was good in a predictable / conventional way and prices were reasonable. I'd eat here again if I was nearby, but it's not a place to go out of your way for.
I've been here a few times for brunch and dinner and food is always good. The most recent time I went here was kinda disappointing. The server took forever to get our order and by the time they did the brunch hour had already passed. Then they took a while to get our bill as well. I'm aware restaurants get busy during brunch. Especially if it's large groups of people but it was just me and one other person. The quality of the food is always good and they have a good deal on brunch if you're into bottomless mimosas etc. This place is also always playing music so if that's your thing go for it. However, you've been warned if you just want a conversation with minimal noise etc.
Texan review. Arrived Saturday afternoon and had a 30 minute wait, were not allowed to purchase drinks at the bar while we waited for our table, but hostess was professional. We given Chips and a very small sauce bowl to share among 4 people, we requested two more salsa bowls and eventually was brought to us. Ordered House margaritas which were very good at a decent price. Higher end cocktails were even better, but cost more. Shrimp Empanadas were very good (appetizer). Entree was Chicken Salsa (tender chicken breast with mole sauce was good, rice and beans were nothing remarkable. Atmosphere was good and staff was professional.
The food is definitely made for a certain demographic. I wouldn’t say this is good or real Mexican food. See the picture of the “nachos” as an example. Save your money and go to Taco and Burrito House across the street. They also weren’t busy and didn’t check on us after taking our order until we were done eating and ready to take the check.
This spot has tanked. Twice now, the food comes out wayyyyy longer than you think it will take, and it’s largely cold, or undercooked (think raw hashbrowns, fries cold but also over fried? No one in our party of big eaters finished their plate. By the time the food came, we were just tired of waiting, but truly 80% of it sucked. We were embarrassed to have brought our family here. Homemade chips and salsa are the only redemption. Staff is well intentioned but unable to solve kitchen problems. Pic of me trying to recook the generally uncooked food we received at home.
We came here on Sunday 5/16 for a belated Mother’s Day Brunch!! Very disappointing, we were seated in the patio where all they played was very loud club music (not even consistent with the Mexican theme) which made it very difficult to have a conversation. We asked the server to reduce the volume and she stated that she would need to talk to the manager. Sound level never improved. Right when we sat down someone from the kitchen arrived with food for our table that we had not ordered. Later our food order was offered to the table behind us. Very disorganized service. Drink order was messed up too and my husband’s beer never arrived. Food was tasteless, no fresh ingredients and they refused to hard boil some eggs for my sister. The michelada also lacked any taste and the chilaquiles even with the spiciest sauce were pretty bland. We also requested an umbrella to cover from the sun and it was never placed on our table. Overall, 2 stars just for the pina colada and mimosas that were the only thing decent. Everything else was subpar, we will certainly never return.
The food is good but not the service. My friend and I got there early before the rush and when we walked in to the main building part of the restaurant we noticed the ample empty tables. Instead of seatings us in here, she guided us outside to the back (there were ice patches around the back patio) to some shed/garage that was converted into a dining space. It was freezing in there and I couldn’t even take off my jacket. When we sit down, the waitress just asks us “are you here for the bottomless mimosas?” And we say yes- she walks away to get the drinks. We overheard her greet another table more amicably and asked them “have you been here before?” And explaining how to access the menu which is a QR code on the table. It was me and my friend’s first time there too and we were sitting there for a awhile thinking she would bring out physical menus. I personally will not be returning here.
Not sure what was more upsetting the fact that I made this reservation a month in advance or the fact that they thought a table of 10 could accomodate 16 grown adults. They brought two baskets of chips with only 2 salsa to split amont 16 people. SMH Took over an hour to get our food and we sat for 20 min before getting our drinks. The GM Roberto was rude as heck. When I approached him about the accomodation he did not care about it. Basically said that they had too many reservations. I explained how I had made this a month in advance and confired it twice but his reply was that others did the same. Then why the hell take more than you can accomodate? The hostess had the odesity to put her finger in my face! Told her next time she would loose that finger. Needless to say will never return here again. This was one of my favorite restaurants and visited once a month with 10+ but their IDGAF attitude has turned me off. Taking my business else where.
What an annoying experience… The music is far too loud which adds to the chaos of an experience. We waited over 45minutes for drinks. We waited over an hour to receive food. I NEVER GOT MY FOOD, even though everyone at the table did. When I asked them about my food they asked if I wanted to still place an order and that it will “eventually” come. EVENTUALLY?! I refused to continue the order, so I sat at the table and just nibbled on the chips as my friends offered bits of their plates…Just really ruined the day.
The food was atrocious. To start with the tortilla soup did not have the consistency of a soup it was inedible. The premium margarita well nothing premium about it. It was sugar in a pitcher. When asked to remake it, it was still diabetes in a pitcher. Ordered shots of 1942 tequila and even that tasted like diluted oranges. Not the way we wanted to celebrate a birthday. Service was super slow. The food made my bf throw up before we even made it dessert. Worst dining experience ever. Definitely would not recommend.
