The duck and lasagna dishes were nothing short of exquisite! Each bite of the tender duck practically melted in my mouth, while the lasagna was a delightful layering of rich flavors and perfectly cooked pasta. And let’s not forget the homemade ice cream trio—it's an irresistible indulgence that you simply cannot miss! Each flavor is a creamy masterpiece, making for a delightful end to a fantastic meal.
Cute little spot! Services were slightly slow for drinks and appetizers but it was a busy Saturday night. We had reservations at another restaurant and stopped in with a group of six for pre dinner cocktails and fries. 🍟 The server was very friendly and was slightly slow to get our drink order. The sauce that comes with the fries was absolutely scrumptious. We had excellent martinis 🍸 and margaritas while seated right next to the kitchen. It was great to see the culinary skills of the chefs while socializing. Definitely recommend checking out as they had several different dishes that we would have tried had we been there for dinner.
It had been a long time since we had been to Taste and now I am not sure why we waited so long.... The staff was very accommodating with my dairy intolerance. Our server was fun and prompt with deep knowledge of the menu. The Halibut special was perfectly prepared and the Roasted beet Salad was well portioned.
This was our first time here. Absolutely loved it. Our server was quick and attentive. The food was delicious. We will definitely become regulars as it’s not too far from the apartment we keep in Cleveland Heights. Highly recommend. (Husband had crab stuffed salmon with mushroom risotto. I had the Filet Mignon Napoleon with parmesan risotto. We shared the stuffed peppers appetizer.)
I’ve been attending Taste for 10 years. It’s an awesome local restaurant that provides a great dining experience combined with customer service and ambiance. We reserved for 7 people and actually needed 8 so they placed us in the private room. Their food is impeccable and you must get the salmon!!!!
Overly impressed. This was quite the treat. Tonight we celebrated her in a special way with an amazing meal. We started with a Riesling for her and a Boudreaux for me. This was accompanied by mussels for two and truffle fries. Followed by the delicious filet we were more than satisfied and cannot wait to return.
My friend and I had an enjoyable dining experience at Taste. The restaurant boasts an extensive wine 🍷 selection. I really enjoyed the parmesan risotto, truffle pomme frites 🍟 and roasted beets salad. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu. Definitely coming back!
Nice wine list - and menu. We ate at the bar. Service was very attentive and the food was delicious. A nice calm night out. Perfect for dinner with friends or a date night.
Taste was a last minute choice but turned out to be a blessing in disguise this place is a hidden gem five star for sure took really good care of us and we will definitely turn to this restaurant
Great Calamari, the Chorizo Mac and Cheese was delicious, and the Airline Chicken shines with the Saffron rice. Highly recommend the chocolate mousse with Hazelnut ice cream for the dessert!
Taste is easily becoming my favorite restaurant. This was only our second time eating here, but it continues to astound me how high quality the entire experience is dining there. The food is incredible. Every part of it. The apps, salads, and entrees. There is attention to detail in every bite. I ordered the filet mignon. I almost never order this steak when I'm out because it's usually underwhelming. I decided to give it a go because the wine reduction sauce was really grabbing my attention. I'm so glad I did. This steak was *almost* unnaturally tender. It was as soft as butter. I didn't even know it was possible for it to be cooked that perfectly. I could rave about the food here at Taste for a long time. I haven't been disappointed yet. The cherry on top is that the wait staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. Our waitress remembered us after it had been several months since we'd been in. She really knew her wine and was able to help guide us to a decision. It's a great place with wonderful food and exceptional staff. I can't wait to go back.
It has been a long time since I was satisfied by every course. Everything was delicious & flavorful! My server was knowledgeable & polite. I'll definitely be going back!
Great happy hour. Very accommodating. Stayed for dinner since we were having such a great time.
In Cleveland (from San Diego) to visit a friend. She'd good things about Taste, but never been and she wanted to try. The restaurant is not pretentious or overly fancy, the staff is extremely nice and the food was REALLY good (it helps that we'd just landed and had airport food all day long). I had the duck (ordered medium, was perfectly cooked, served over green beans and potato puree), which was fantastic, my wife had the halibut (which she loved as well), and our friend had the crab stuffed salmon, which she "couldn't stop eating" (quoting her). We ordered calamari (crispy, not chewy) and mussels (very flavorful) and a salad as appetizers. For dessert we had the crême brulee (really good), the chocolate cake (served warm, very rich but not overly so, almost perfect),and the house sorbet (mango and blood orange - my wife comments that she liked the flavor of the blood orange, but the texture of the mango was better). We all had wine by the glass (I had the only cabernet on the menu, easy to drink, on the sweeter end of the spectrum, not dry). As a visitor, I highly recommend this restaurant, which was a very pleasant surprise as our first stop in Cleveland. TLDR: Visit this restaurant, you won't be disappointed.
I have dined at Taste innumerable times, often before Dobama performances nearby. I have enjoyed many of the offerings but recently discovered a standout favorite, the Filet Mignon Napoleon. I am a fan of raw and rare meat and the dish was PERFECTLY prepared. It required a bit of deconstruction to eat but the entree was spectacular! The potato pancake on the bottom had absorbed delicious dripping from the lower filet. The presentation is a real eye pleaser. The establishment also has an extensive wine by the glass menu which permits a party to indulge everyone's preference.
Good atmosphere and interesting menu, with several vegetarian options. Service was quick and server was attentive. The crab-stuffed salmon was delicious.
This place is sensational! Spend the money and enjoy yourself! Perfectly cooked food!
Went with a friend tonight as a small celebration, and Carla was a wonderful server. She was knowledgeable and attentive. The food was lovely--my companion and I both got the daily fish, and I can't say enough about how good it was.
Decided to try a place new to us. We picked it after viewing the menu online. After we got to our table our server came over and introduced herself to us. Abigail was a fantastic server, very attentive and knowledgeable. We tried the stuffed shrimp with crab appetizer and it was incredible. We asked her for drink and food recommendations because we debated between a couple things. Everything she recommended was delicious from the seafood paella to the martinis. On our way out we met the owner who was very gracious. The only thing I would say is they could use a little sound absorption panels on the ceiling or walls because it is pretty loud in there. All in all a great evening.
Always a fantastic experience at Taste. The first time I went there with my wife, I was alittle tight on money so i ordered one of the meals i saw that was cheaper on the menu. The roasted chicken breast. It ended up being one of the most phenomenal meals I've ever had. I had that again tonight and as usual it did not disappoint. Would HIGHLY recommend a trip to Taste. They do not disappoint.
What a pleasant surprise. Delicious meal. It was 4 of us and I would have loved having any of the four dishes served. If you are looking for good food, this is the spot. Atmosphere could be improved for outdoor seating, but the food made everything worth it.
The food here is absolutely delicious.....we had a creamy chicken soup that was probably the best I've ever had. The atmosphere is relaxed.....there was live music, and the wait staff were so friendly and very attentive!!
Low key, perfect, and delicious. We come here every time we're in OH, this time celebrating our friends and their new baby. They were so welcoming and accommodating, one of the staff even asked the pianist to play Peanuts songs for the little guy. Everything we've ordered is 10/10, the atmosphere is warm and the staff is great. I wish I could have left with a t-shirt to represent you guys back in CO!
I hosted a birthday dinner party of 6 and it was amazing! Food was a 10/10. We had Seafood Paella, Crab Stuffed Salmon, Potato Gnocchi, Pappardelle, Chicken Marsala, Shrimp Appetizer Pear Martinis, Ana the Creme Brulee! Everything was flavorfull and fresh. CARLA was out server... she was great! Funny, personable, welcoming and accommodating! When I go back in will definitely ask for her. I highly recommend this place. My birthday dinner was a success.
We had reservations and was seated immediately upon arrival. Our waitress was very personable and efficient and the food was delicious. This was not our first visit but everything we make dinner reservations we have a nice experience.
Top notch food!!!! I had calamari with tomato sauce for dipping, and seafood ravioli with a cream sauce with mushrooms and spinach. EXCELLENT!!! Highly recommended. Service, as so many others pointed out, was not the best for our table, but other tables did have fantastic service. Luck of the draw. The restaurant is relatively small and has loud acoustics, so it's not optimum for disabilities. But the food makes up for any short comings you might experience. There is plenty of parking all over the place - behind and in front of the stores. We didn't have a reservation and had no problem getting a seat, but reservations are recommended. It was very busy by the time we left. Be sure to make an evening of it and visit Dobama Theater across the street or one of the many small specialty shops - crafts, clothes, bicycles, vintage, gift shop, etc; or perhaps take in a movie at Cedar Lee Theater. Lee Rd, with it's many wonderful shops, is a treasure!
4 of us had dinner Saturday night at Taste. The food was fantastic. I had the seafood soup which was Filled with the seafood listed, and the seafood linguini. Not only did my meal exceed my expectations but all the meals and appetizers on table were both tasty and filling. The only thing I would have changed was we did fell rushed a little. Salads and soups arrived at the table at almost the same time. Had to tell them to slow down a little.
The food was great. The service was a little slow due to them being short staff but overall it was great.
We had an early dinner here on New Year’s Eve, and it was wonderful. The filet special was exceptional, and the potato gnocchi was perfectly cooked and flavored. Portions were very generous, too! Based on other reviews, I was ready for the service to be lacking, especially on a holiday, but our server was very good. They were busy, so things weren’t super fast, but it could have been much worse and our server was as attentive as he could be. We will definitely be back!
Taste is one of our favorite restaurants! We've been going there for years, and the food is consistently good. They have a broad menu, and the daily specials are outstanding! We went for Valentine's Day this year and it was amazing. The staff was all dressed up for the occasion, the atmosphere was great, and they had a violinist playing.
I’ve been here several times in the past month and the food is tasty! Daniel is an excellent bartender and extremely polite. The mussels are delicious and succulent, the Asian zing ribs are tender and the glaze adds a nice flavor. Pretty much every item on the happy hour menu is exceptional including the drinks. Get here early because happy hour is only 1 hour! I’ll add pics next time…
My boyfriend and I went here for our anniversary this past week. We got the Arancini Di Riso for an appetizer which tasted good but you only got two balls. I kind of expected more for the price. My boyfriend got the soup of the day which was a seafood soup which he enjoyed. The waitresses seemed to struggle, trying to remember all of the specials and honestly we couldn't remember what all she said after she was done telling us about them. My boyfriend got the Grilled Lamb Rib Chops which he enjoyed but there was some gristle and fat. Also it came with just one potato pancake which was kind of flavorless. I got the Crab Stuffed Salmon which was really good. The vegetables that came with it were alright but had no flavor and they didn't have salt or pepper on the tables. I'm sure we could have asked for some but we didn't. I also got a chocolate martini which tasted good but honestly I couldn't taste the alcohol. Also parts of the ceiling were chipping which was unexpected because I thought that this place was supposed to be kind of fancy and more upscale.
Went here for a birthday celebration, had a very nice experience. Drinks were very good and our server was nice. The calamari was very good, not rubbery at all and the marinara it came with was one of the best I've had! Our entrées were delicious as well. The only reason for 4 stars is it was very busy (as expected on a Saturday night). Service was a bit slow, it was almost an hour until entrées were served and drinks took a good 25min to arrive. Not too big a deal as we were having a chill night. Just know it can get very busy. Would definitely come again for another celebration (may we'll try out luck with a week night).
Good food, service was slow even for an 8 pm seating. the pianist was very loud so we sat in the back and I think they forgot about us.
The service was friendly if a bit slow. My gnocchi was amazing (fresh shredded cheese as an option would be great) and my husband's filet Napoleon was unique and for rave reviews. We came for the creme brulee and it was okay, but I would definitely come back.
Got a corner table that gave a view of the bar and decor. The lighting was cosy and food, delicious. We ordered the salmon, gnocchi and ribs The place was abuzz with chatter and laughter 😃 probably the interesting wine and cocktail namaste list added to the laughs!
The food is great and the ambiance is nice but we've been there twice for dinner and both times it was so awkward waiting for a table. There's no hiatess or hostess stand and we stood waiting for 5-6 minutes before a bartender and waitress came over to us. No greeting, no welcome how are you, just "follow me". That's the worst part about the place. You need a host! But our waitress from Brazil was amazing we loved her.
I have eaten here 3x already and every time I have really enjoyed it! The food is great! Customer service could use some polish! My last dine in was actually dine out because we ate outside. I can say that I was surprised that they did forget us out there! I took my daughter for her 19th birthday and she really enjoyed it as well. Prices are steep but the food in my opinion is worth it. This will be a regular restaurant for me but mostly for special occasions.
The food was excellent, so no complaints there. As mentioned in many reviews below, the service was terrible. Very long wait for food. I’m not sure if it was just this particular night, or if they are habitually understaffed. Our waiter appeared to have nearly half the restaurant assigned to him, and when we left, we noticed he was even assigned to the outdoor tables too. He did the absolute best he could, but this restaurant should not be seating so many people if they don’t have the staff.
Marleny was so sweet and attentive. They were definitely understaffed or overrun, and we had been sat for 20 minutes without anyone asking for our drink order, and she noticed and immediately took amazing care of us for the rest of the evening. We got the Cleveland Independent Restaurants Week prix fixe deal, and at that price point, I would say well worth it, however at MSRP, it’s a stretch.
Maybe you have to be a regular to get great service. We went in and were seated by the bartender who I think was supposed to be our server too. He brought water and never returned. I watched him serve others at the bar and tables nearby received drinks and food even though they showed up after us. Another server came by and took our food and drink order. After ten minutes I hadn't received my drink so I walked over to the bar where the manager was chatting with patrons. I asked him about my drink. He spoke to the bartender and I received a dripping glass with my lemon martini. The drink was the best part of the meal. My lambchops were overcooked and I just feel like everything was overpriced, especially since the menu prices in the restaurant were different from the online prices. I've had better from here, but I don't think I'll be returning.
I've been here a couple times and I send the doctors here that we interview for CC. I ordered take out tonight, cus of a dinner that went south and thought, Taste is a safe bet! The take out was an absolutely soft, wet, flavorless mush.
I must say the food was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! BUT- The service was terrible. The bartender Fernando did an excellent job of taking care of the whole bar pretty much on his own while most of the staff stood around or didn’t know what to do. Only a few employees were actually making an effort to work quickly and attentively while the rest mosied around. I don’t like that the owner/manager? Was walking around with a glass of wine the whole time but hey not my business! He should be making everyone do their job not drinking. I’ll be back for the food and piano saturdays but I’m really hoping the service gets some upgrades! Thanks to Fernando for taking care of us. And OJ!
I wanted to love this place. The food is amazing and so well made. However, the cocktails and service left much to be desired. The few cocktails we have ordered were sickeningly sweet-- go for the wine, they do have a great selection. But it was the slow service that was the most disappointing. It took an average of 2-3 hours for dinner, with us sitting there for 20 minutes before our server rushed over to even offer us drinks. It just seemed like the servers were just overwhelmed when we were there. Just a note: the seating arrangement is very cramped. There just isn't enough space to move chairs and whatnot.
Visited Taste for the first time this Valentine’s Day and was really excited after reading positive reviews. Place was decorated well and they had a violinist which was a nice touch. However, I was incredibly disappointed overall with the experience. We waited 15 minutes to be asked what we wanted to drink, and the food came 1.5 hours after we sat down. When the food came out, my $50 steak, ordered medium well, came out medicine rare. Our server graciously corrected the issue. Mistakes happen and it was busy, but for a bill over $230 I guess I just expected a little more.
This could easily be a 4 star (possibly 5 star) restaurant if the service wasn’t so terrible. We had a reservation, but still had to wait over 10 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. Then our server basically disappeared after we ordered our food. We had to have another server find her, and even then she took forever to get us wine and our check. We had told her that we were going to a show, but she seemed to think a lot of herself, more than her customers. When she brought our bill, she didn’t leave a pen and disappeared again!
It really takes a lot for me to leave a negative review. My girlfriend and I had 6 o'clock reservations as we were seeing a movie at 7:15, and we were greeted and seated quickly. THIS IS WHERE THE GOOD SERVICE ENDED. It took over an hour and a half to get our food as we heard apology after apology about the kitchen being slow. Despite asking to be cashed out before the food arrived as we were running late, the staff stalled until our food was brought out and one of our orders was completely incorrect. My girlfriend ordered the scallops with rice pilaf and asparagus, but instead received lukewarm scallops with mixed vegetables. It was like they ran out of ingredients and just made do with what they had. We were already rushing out the door and didn't do much complaining, but I cannot recommend this place that has any expectation of good service; despite the food having potential. I will absolutely not be back.
I was at taste tonight and waited 20 minutes to even see our server. I had to ask who was assigned to our table and asked to please order. 45 minutes later we still had not received appetizers. We just left at that point. I’m sure they were busy but still not a good look.
We had the most disappointing experience here. Our server barely attended to our table, and the food took an unusually long time to arrive. The seafood pasta was supposed to come with scallops, but there was literally only one tiny piece. To make things worse, the dessert we ordered was wrong. Even though a 20% service charge was automatically added to our bill, the server even couldn't split the bill and overcharged us for an extra dish we didn’t order. Overall, the service and transparency were unacceptable — definitely not worth the price.
Very disappointed 😞 I do not recommend ordering door dash here. I was told the portions are not very big and they don't know why the items were sold to go anyway. Smh. Traveled 20mins, plus the deserts were 12.99 a piece. Get home and see there is barely ant desert. Called and got a sarcastic condescending response.
