People can debate on the prices. I always enjoy a pastrami on pretzel loaf. The chopped pickles on top really pull the entire sandwich together!

G
George Marcum

I love their food. The hot dogs are wonderful and their sandwiches are exceptional as well. The Jalapeño bun is my favorite bread and the OMG is a great option!!

B

Great bread and rueben was good. However, pizza sub was the best!!!

Hands down the best gluten free deli sandwiches in Dallas. It’s a fun atmosphere and the service was great. Highly recommend.

C
Chaz Riley

This place is legit, phenomenal food. Their rolls were so good I bought a dozen. Their lemonade is perfect as well. Will be back to try more menu items in the future.

I was craving a sandwich and a quick google search brought me to New York Pub. I got the Italian and it was everything I wanted and more. And on top of that they sell Zapp’s chips. I was in heaven. The only thing that was a dud was the chocolate chip cookie.. they are too darn small for $1.50.

James Booth

Had the French Dip on Pretzel bread covered in hot peppers with Au Ju sauce. It was excellent!

C
Cassandra Reinhart

Wow! Messy subs, but so delicious! I don't know where else you can get a PRETZEL BUN! Try the French dip! So good! They also have Joy macaron ice cream sandwiches, which are phenomenal and local craft soda!

My coworker and I just had lunch there. We both had the Peggy Sue's brisket sandwich, mine on whole wheat, hers on the pretzel bun, both were delicious. Service was fast and friendly. We'll be back and bring friends.

M
Matthew Nordtvedt

A gem! How do they make the bread so good??

G
Greg Resnansky

Best sub in Dallas hands down. Ham and peppered turkey is my favorite. The best part is you can pick up Peggy Sue's BBQ in freezer packs for dinner!

Found this sandwich shop right off the beaten path - was amazing!!! I got a half meatball sandwich on a white hoagie roll, and I will tell you, it is one of the best meatball sandwich I recall ever having. The roll was soft, the meatballs were super tender, the sauce was great and it was perfectly cheesy. Really can't ask for ask more!! I also got half of a roast beef hoagie which had cheese, lettuce and onion. The roast beef was excellent, I just needed a bit more mayo and salt and pepper. My husband got a turkey club hoagie, he really liked it, just needed a bit more seasoning like me. The interior is cute, with some arcade games scattered throughout. Overall, it was really good, looking forward to another meatball sandwich!! Oh, the sandwiches are huge!!!

Absolutely the best Italian cold sub I have ever had! My parents took me here as a kid, and 30 years later it is just as great with the new owner (who has gone to great lengths to stay 100% faithful to the old favorites on the menu). Aside from great food, the owner and his crew are friendly and fast in getting your food ready. Do not pass this place up!

Man this place is absolutely awesome! The Cuban is ridiculously delicious! the Chicago dog was awesome...I'll be honest we ordered 3 sandwiches and 2 dogs and we didn't have not one bad bite lol!! Good stuff friendly staff and the manager was above and beyond awesome.

These subs are all good, but what makes this place special, it is ... ... they have Delaware punch! Awesome

Just a great sub made with real, fresh ingredients. They slice the meat per order. I grew up in Austin eating Thundercloud subs almost every day in high school, I like this place even more. And it’s locally owned by someone who obviously cares about the product and his customers. One of my local neighborhood regular go-to’s.

E
Erik Ritz

Great sub and salad place with very friendly staff. I especially liked their house dressing

This place is a local gem. I travel to Dallas for work once a month and stop in every time. The food is always great. Today I ordered subs for a larger group, and they had a party platter ready so fast I didn't think it could be ours. The tall guy (I think he's the owner) even carried it to my car for me. The best part? The staff remembered that my dad was in the hospital last week and asked how he was doing. They always seem to remember their customers and you don't see that in many places.

N
Nicole Rall

Initially gave 5 stars for awesome food. On a subsequent order, I wasn't happy with under-baked bread. I submitted feedback through the website, and received a very prompt response from Andrew Kelley (unsure if owner or manager). He not only addressed the problem with the night manager, but apologized and sent me a coupon for $10 off my next order. THIS IS THE WAY YOU RUN A BUSINESS! These folks care about their food and their customers.

One of my all time favorite sub places (definitely top 3). Everything here is quality: the meat doesn't have any preservatives or hormones, the veggies are organic and non-GMO, and the bread is baked fresh in house. They also make their own sandwich "juice" (essentially a seasoned red wine vinagarette), which I just found out they sell now by the bottle (perfect for those times when I want a sub and they are closed, or I just want to make a quick sandwich at home). Also, if you're a fan of Reuben sandwiches then give theirs a try - I was very pleasantly surprised.

L
Linnea

Go here if you want a quick, tasty, quality sub! The owner, his wife, and another sweet gal, were working and they were so friendly and welcoming. If I ever find myself in Dallas again, I will be stopping at new York sub! Thank you for the sandwiches! 🤗

This place is amazing. I love this place and think it is the best place to get a sub in Dallas. The team is incredible at getting the subs done quickly, and the subs are works of art. I really like pretty much anything on the menu. Everything is super fresh.

Ordered delivery from here a few times, it was right once, but I blame Uber Eats for that. The person I called about the most recent offered to remake me entire order and deliver it himself. #legitcustomerservice. This is definitely a place to try, the sandwiches are phenomenal (esp the pretzel bread)and obvs they have amazing customer service. They've earned a loyal customer here.

( Today is Jan. 3rd 2018)I ordered through ubereats. Order was fast, food fresh (meatball sub my favorite here. The Chocolate chips are amazing and very much home made. This is my 4th time ordering here. I moved on from Chinese take out since the foods tend to make me sick :/ , but here had no stomach problems. Just amazing food and great taste. Give it a try ;) -ER

Been coming about once a week since they reopened this Dallas Icon. The service is terrific and the food is even better than ever. They have the same menu they did before but with a few new additions and improvements. Yeah, they have "the juice" and it's everything you want it to be.

S

New York Sub is one of my favorite meals from childhood, and I am so thankful it was given a second chance! Shredded lettuce and their vinaigrette makes any meat choice sing. Sometimes Italian, sometimes Turkey, always a great sandwich.

Yoo this place was indeed fire! I walked in for the first time ever Monday 3/28/2022. The atmosphere was lit. The food, bomb. The service and speed, A1. Friendly all around and they called me by my name 🤪 always a plus. Will be coming here every Monday 😎

This is the type of place you HOPE you find when you're looking for great food that you can't get just anywhere. One of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten in my life - and I've had sandwiches and subs in NY, Socal, Austin, Detroit, Seattle, Portland, you name it. I had the smoked pastrami sub and my soul nearly left my body when I took the first bite. Can't recommend this place enough!

C
Charles Swanigon

The half sandwich was more than enough. Everything was great, from the meat to the veggies, and they had a solid selection of beverages. It was the best sandwich I've had in a while.

E
Erroll “Ejax” Jackson Jr.

This place is what I’ve been looking for! I had the Cuban and my wife had the smoked brisket pastrami. They were excellent. I’ll drive from Frisco regularly for these sandwiches.

This place is phenomenal. I drive all the way from Burleson. Every single selection I've had so far is amazing!!! The staff is super friendly and everything is always fresh!!

I have passed by this spot shuffling kids around for over a decade. Stopped in today and it was wonderful. I ordered a sub for the name but was treated to samples of BBQ while I waited. If you put the greatness of Pecan Lodge or Heim BBQ don’t know if I could have told a difference it was that good. They also had the late great Peggy Sue’s sides available. Menu is expansive so it will be once a week stop for a while!!!

J

How is it possible for anything to taste so good?! Best Reuben in the universe! Glad I got a whole so I could save the other half for later.

High quality, next level sandwiches and food presentation. Lots of fine touches here (preserved antique games, compostable containers, decor)- I was most impressed with the service- We’ve had wonderful conversations here, which is the kind of thing that’s missing from most places. I crave these sandwiches and fries if I go long without them- irreplaceable.

Andrew Kelly is the proprietor of the ONLY "NEW-YORK-SUB" shop in Dallas, TX.,. PLUS... he sells DELAWARE PUNCH... which induced this 81yo Disabled Vietnam Vet to drive to Dallas (5 hours one way) to try to buy some of the Del.. Pun.. syrup to dilute to make the juice! (Like I did when Ken Harkness owned the sandwich shop, after I returned from Vietnam). It was a pleasure to meet Andrew, who treated me like a brother-from-a-different-mother, AND honored my request for a DAV discount. He is also a real ingenious fellow wiring in a theater type SUBWOOFER kicking bass that will knock your socks off 😯!!! The restroom is immaculate, containing a wire rack to place your boxed-up other NEW-YORK-SUB in, cuz ... Like Jay Leno says... "You can't eat just one! " Thanks Andrew, and your family crew; my humble heart goes out to y'all, and prayers for continued success. 💗🙏🤓🐻 YT, CRAZY TED BRYAN......... 🙃!!!!!

Wow is this place great. If you’re looking to get your money’s worth you’ve come to the right place. Half sandwiches are loaded and the Texas Club is about as good as it gets for a sub at this joint. Great atmosphere and friendly service will make you feel like a local with plentiful options for chips, cookies, and drinks as well. Top 3 sandwich in the city by my vote. Pro Tip: get the Jalapeño Cheese or Pretzel bread to take your sandwich order to the next level.

Great subs and service! Super fresh and high-quality ingredients. The owners are really nice, too. Very friendly. I had a great experience and will be returning soon!

The special was brisket pastrami and it was out of this world. The bread was fresh, the pastrami had the perfect texture and flavor, and the vinaigrette was a nice little kicker. Ambiance was low key and perfect for being across the street from SMU. Great little hole in the wall sandwich shop.

o

I needed sandwiches last minute for a Christmas party! NY Sub was able to do a big order of sandwiches that blew all my guest away. So fresh, tasty and huge. Everything you need, couldn’t be better! I’m so thankful to the owner!

Hands down the best sandwich I've ever had. I had the Texas Sub and the Chicago dog. I took it to go but literally had to call them and let them know how good it was. Phenomenal🔥🔥🔥🔥

This place is freaking outstanding. I had the brisket pastrami sandwich yesterday today I had the French dip mind was blown. The beef has the right amount of smoke on it, not overpowering, but you get it in every bite. I can’t wait to go back and eat my way through the rest of the menu. Oh the potato salad was outstanding too.

BEST SUBS in Dallas and anywhere in this country. Husband and wife, love buying local, and their smoked meats are wonderful. Whole sandwich is easily 2 meals or more. The place is so cool, reminds me of Austin, retro with pinball machines

N
Natalie Manriquez

My husband and I are from out of town and we saw this place as a TikTok recommendation. The vibes were great. We got there in a rush and had a decent size order ahead of us, but the owner was super nice and chill when we came up. We got the Italian and the Texas Club. Both were great!

D
David Shrier

This small, family owned restaurant has fairly modest appearance, but some of the best smoked meat that I have had in many years in visiting Texas. Generous portion sizes and a varied menu of sandwiches, including meat that they smoke themselves. I had the Reuben and can recommend it. Absolutely worth a trip if you happen to be visiting SMU.

I don't think I can go to Subway any more, amazing subs, amazing staff, and an amazing smell! If there were more stars, you'd have more than 10!

J
Jim McGinnis

Great subs in a great place. I had a bad experience navigating their line today, and ended up walking out. I was clearly next, but they put others in front of me and then educated me on how the paintings on their floor worked. It made me sad to be treated badly by a store I like. I hope others have a great experience though, because their food is really, really good. While they didn't earn it today, I give them a 5 star review because their food deserves it and it's a small well run business. Probably just a busy day for them...one day I will go back.

R
Reci Woodert

I couldn't decide, so I got the Chicago Dog. I never had one before. They have beef on the Hot Dog. The beef is out of this world. The hotdog is so good. I also got a cookie. That cookie was a perfect Semi-Sweet bite. I definitely will be coming back. They definitely need more reviews. This place is definitely a spot! Love the game section as well.

As you know from all of my other reviews on food is I love out of way places/hole in the wall/nostalgia/great experience/awesome food. This place had a touch and a cornerstone of all of them and the sub was great. I went on a Friday post lunch around 1 and was about 10 people in front ordering or waiting. Ordering went great and price was bit more than a Jimmy John’s or Subway. The staff were friendly and a fine olive oiled machine! I got my order of an Italian half in about 10 minutes while I drank a tea/lemonade. I did see that the place was BYOB which that is awesome. Need to remember to grab a beer. The place takes me back to my early teen years with all the nostalgic games and decor. They have outside seating and very kid friendly. Even has a merry-go-round. The sub was perfect. Such great deli flavors of the meats and fresh veggies. Let me talk about the bread. If you ever had a field trip to a bread baker like Bairds or Rainbow as a kid and they give you that fresh bread off the conveyor belt. It’s the same feeling. Fresh and you can actually taste the artisan care to make that bread. It’s like no other sandwich shop. I’m happy to find this jewel in Highland Park. Drop me a like if you find this review helpful.

Simple sandwich board, simple well made sandwiches. It’s basic, beautifully basic. I had the two hot dog combo, Chicago & Texas(chili dog) $10 great snap on the dog, good poppy seed bun, well made hot dog sammy’s. Classic arcade games while you wait are definitely a bonus, leave a quarter for the next person. ;-)

I’m always been weary of restaurants with the name “New York” in them, as they usually turn out not to be very much like NY at all. I finally gave in when a tempting deal popped up on a food app. NY Sub exceeded my expectations in every way - the flavor was exceptional and the portion of meat was generous. My husband (a New Yorker himself) said, “There is NO reason these subs should be this good.” 😆 The atmosphere leaned more toward Chicago but it still worked. The fairly youthful staff impressed us with their friendliness and professionalism, a rare find in many eateries. We will be back.

M

Great sandwich and great place all around! We were greeted when we came in and the people behind the counter really made us feel at home. I would definitely come back both to try the multitude of options available and to experience that level of customer service and appreciation. The only downside is that parking can be a bit tough immediately in front but there are a few lots nearby for other stores that are available so no need to fret.

The pretzel bread and cherry soda is sooo addictive, can't wait to stop by again!! some other students also said this place is pricy. It smells like my grandpas house but it's a nice retro place to escape modern life

A
Amanda Myers

Cute location that's been around for 50 years. My Reuben was nice, the smoked pastrami was amazing, but I am not a fan of having all the sauce and pickles on TOP, where you're forced to get messy and lose precious condiments. We also ordered the "every stop on the subway" which was so-so. There were not enough veggies for a sandwich which claims to have everything.

L
Lonnie Barrios

First time. Pretty good menu selection. I like the old time decor and atmosphere.

C

Very cool place but the bread is too thick.

R

Great sandwich...cool campus vibe with great music. Kinda on the expensive side, oil and vinegar and other additions are self serve. Try the gold sauce !! I'll go back and see if I can figure out a cheaper way to enjoy lunch and try other options.

Z

The food was excellent, and the portions were great for the prices they had. It's sort of like an upgraded subway with better food choices & larger portions. I didn't like the atmosphere because it was small and cramped. There were not enough seats & no one cleaning off the tables of the empty ones. I would only do take out here..

S

BIG BOI SUBS. Big flavor. I would devour the whole menu if I could.

A
Arsenio Almaguer

Enjoyed my food and the bottled lemonade. Everything tasted fresh which is a win. The price hits hard but the days of decent priced sandwiches are long gone, and I have paid more for worst food. I would return but maybe explain better what i wanted. I wanted a roast beef and turkey sub but I think it got lost in translation when i ordered.

C
Charles Venters Jr.

Really enjoyed this experience. It was like an old deli Bodega from the east coast. All the sandwiches are pretty simple but are really made with good quality products. My favorite is the French Dip because of the taste, amount of meat, peppers & dip sauce. A little messy but SO GOOD. We've had about 4 different sandwiches & they've all been really good. You also have the option to have the sandwiches toasted too.

E
ES Raphael

Very friendly sandwich shop. I had the barbecue brisket which is more Texas style than New York style but regardless of what you call it, it's a good sandwich. Super props for the retro pinball game in the shop. Colorful and fun. $17 for a whole sandwich and a diet Coke was the price of lunch.

D

Very courteous cashier and attendants! It was my first time visiting and I really hope I can come back to try other items on their menu. By the way the grape juice is AMAZING

The size of the sandos were awesome, the price was high and the fried pies were soggy and tasted like they were fried in cold and old oil. I expected more for $5.99 fresh fried pies. Not sure if I would visit again, but if I do I will make sure to order the fried pies and eat them when they are fresh. Mixed feelings about this visit.

Been going here for 30+ years. Unfortunately service and overall satisfaction has dropped considerably. Sandwiches take forever and they run out of items. Poorly run. Music is great

This place has definitely fallen off. I used to really look forward to coming to this place as a special treat. I went to school in Denton and there was another location there that had previously been very similar. Went yesterday and was extremely disappointed and won’t be back. First off the price is insane. I paid $26 dollars for a sandwich and small bag of chips and lemonade. That’s beyond too much. The sandwich is basically like eating a loaf of bread. The bread is enormous and not as good as it used to be. In the past the bread was a big part of the draw nuts it’s changed and is not good. The place also seems to be trying to sell a lot of other odd things like prepackaged food items and just unrelated to its core business. The service wasn’t rude but it just seems that this place must be under new owners and they are just winging it and likely just trying to survive by price hikes since they are so close to SMU. Sad story as this was once a really nice a unique sandwich place.

Cool place, nice workers, decent sub. But over $20 for a 6” sub, Gatorade, and a small bag of chips is honestly outrageous. Always try to support the locally owned places everywhere I go but I wouldn’t expect to pay prices like that anywhere in the country. I’m honestly hoping I got overcharged or something because that price is so high.

Personally too much bread and not enough filling, and the bread is not toasted. The menu also said ask for cherry peppers but they said they don’t offer them lol. Overall very average sub. Potbelly and even Jersey Mike’s are better.

I really wanted to rate this place higher but can’t give it more than 3 stars. The employees were very kind and walked me through the menu. Given the reviews this place has I was expecting more, but unfortunately fell short. The meats tasted great, but the serving ratios were off and barely had any cheese. The price didn’t bother me given I am a huge sandwich lover and willing to pay whatever for a great sandwich … but this was just not it .

Sub is good but the price is absurd. Spent $11 just on a 6 inch sub. I can get the same sandwich at Eatzi's in Dallas with better quality ingredients and bread choices for $8.99. For being next to a university you would think they would chill on inflated prices. Used to come here a lot but before they inflated their prices. Struggling with cost of food? Maybe make it affordable to eat at and you may have a more customers to make up for the cost. It was pretty quiet at 12:30 pm. Now I see why. 2 stars for the sub being good.

We ordered two sandwiches with chips and drinks and it’s was $40.00 The pastrami sandwich was super plain with not a lot of flavor. The #5 ham and capocollo literally tasted like a grocery store sandwich. The bread on all sandwiches is absolutely store bought and was very bland. And we just couldn’t get over how much the sandwiches tasted like they came straight from the grocery store deli. Also, they messed up our order and gave us the pastrami when we ordered the brisket pastrami sandwich, so we didn’t get to try what we actually ordered. I normally won’t post bad reviews but I just can’t figure out how they have such high ratings. It wasn’t terrible… but I definitely wasn’t impressed… especially for $40.00 I’ll continue hitting up Jimmys food store for the best sandwiches on Bryan or even Jimmy John’s is better in our opinion.

They didn’t have the type of meat that I selected from the menu, but didn’t say so and took my order anyways, then just subbed it out for a completely different type of meat without telling me. Didn’t find out until I got home and was not about to drive all the way back for a half-hearted attempt at saying they could change it for me. What if I had an allergy and that was the reason I had chosen my order the way I did.

Sandwich was not made . I asked the guy to switch from whole to half. He ask me have I paid I said yes so he told me the sandwich was already done. I waited 7 minutes watching them. Sandwich was not made. He just didn’t want to give me a refund. Never will return. There was a guy there he offer a young man something to eat that day. I was watching everything. The guy was calling people name out when the order was ready. I don’t have to lie!!

As this was my time second time experiencing New York Sub, 1st time in person, I was hoping it to equal my delivery version, unfortunately it did not. Dry sandwich, no dressing included as it was with my delivery version. Pickle spear was a sliver of a pickle that I actually couldnt find due to the fact that the lettuce covered it entirely. Called back to complain and person who answered the phone told me it was nothing he could do. I ordered online and got the worst sandwich I have had in years. Will not go back!!!

There was a girl at the front register named Sydney who was very off putting and rude to me. She spoke about me to other staff and said I was distracting to the employees while I was just eating chips and texting while sitting in a booth. The food was good and so were other staff but Sydney gave the restaurant a bad vibe.

Not really authentic. Basically jersey mikes style shop but not as clean and pricier.

First off, I am NOT Favor driver of any other delivery driver. Although I found your sandwiches acceptable, your customer service skills are awful. Then I just noticed on Google, you “The Owner” air your dirty laundry and attack your reviews. I would guess this place will have a short life. No loss as grocery stores can make your sandwiches. Update: You cannot even get my name correct or your being cute. Was there Friday after the 4th.

Bad food, bad service. Has to be one of the worst sandwiches I’ve ever had. I can name about 5 Dallas sandwich shops that are better. Open since 1974? How?🤢

Horrible customer service. I call to place an order they began taking the order then in the process of me placing the order I was interrupted and asked my occupation, as if that has anything to do with the order. Then they hung up on me. I called back and they again begun taking my order and I was interrupted once again and the person hung up on me again. Two different people. Then I finally called once more to see if I could order online. Finally got the info necessary to place my order online. Then I get there to pick my order up no one greeted me and then the guy who voice I recognized from my second and third call was like, " you can have a seat we have a lot of online orders" as if that matter. Do you have a our for me was my question? I would not take my family to this restaurant ever or order from them over the phone. And on top of all that they still was missing items on my order. Horrible customer service.

$33 for one sandwich, not world famous potato salad 8 oz and a lil bag of chips. Terrible. The pastrami was less than 6oz and plain plain plain. Outrageous. Shocked.

This place has really gone downhill. Menu sucks, none of the fountain drinks were available. People behind the counter don't seem to know anything about what they're selling. Will not be back

💯$29 and change for TWO 6in {SIX} inch SUB SANDWICHS! 😲😳🤯 Bacon damn near raw on BLT Chewy meat (uncured ham, possibly?) on Super Italian 💯VERY VERY DISAPPOINTING 💯 😕 Nothing special about any of the meat or veggies- choice of shredded lettuce, tomatoes, thinly sliced onion. Mayo, mustard and House Italian for condiments. But at $14+ for a 6 INCH sub!, the cost was $outrageous$ for the taste, appearance, atmosphere. Went at 1am (close at 3am), Restaurant entrance was locked. There's a walk up order window that takes your order and serves as pickup for GrubHub, DoorDash, ect. There are no menus, no prices, NOTHING to see what is offered and for how much! I had to get out my phone and look at the menu someone posted on Google maps, which Also had NO PRICES! A couple picnic tables and a small coin operated carousel are out front when you pull up. No THANKYOU Will not make that mistake ever again! 🤯🤯I'm still in Sticker 🫨 😲 SHOCK

I placed an order and they gave me something totally different, I asked them to please change my order and they just didn't want to do it, I asked them for a large sandwich broken in half, and they gave me half a sandwich, and finally packed everything of TERRIBLE SERVICE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE

Tonight I came to experience this sandwich shop as I really wanted a sandwich for dinner tonight. On their Google hours it does state they are open on until 3:00 am. Here I am in front on a Monday evening @ 10:25 pm having drove from near Desoto to eat only to find that the restaurant is closed. This is truly upsetting
