We had a wonderful experience at Porta di Roma. The Italian food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every dish tasted authentic and beautifully prepared. The staff was friendly and warm, making us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. It’s the perfect spot for a cozy, satisfying Italian meal. Highly recommend!
The food here is exceptional and authentic! I was pleasantly surprised! The owner, Demi, greeted our party after dinner was served. He is professional and a great artist in the kitchens and with the art on the wall!
First time guest and this place was PHENOMENAL from start to finish. We were warmly greeted upon entering and had exceptional service throughout the meal. Our server was very outgoing, pleasant, professional, made recommendations and very attentive to the table. We were warmly thanked when leaving. The server noticed a young lady outside get shoved to the ground by a homeless person and she went to check on her and offered her to come inside so she could compose herself bringing her water. Such love, compassion and empathy she showed a stranger which is unfortunately rare these days and I applaud her for that. The food was just as superior as the service. We started with bruschetta which was divine. The bread and tomatoes tasted very fresh and the olive oil was spot on. Very good sized portions and very reasonably priced I had chicken lasagna which is something I have never had or even heard of before. It was delightful and the chicken made the dish much more light to eat which I truly enjoyed. I combined it with the ravioli. The portion sizes were your typical lunch size and was very reasonably priced. It tasted absolutely wonderful and fresh and I would most certainly order again. I loved the sauce they use. My friend had the spaghetti with meatballs and chicken and just like my dish was your typical lunch sized portion and very reasonably priced. He truly enjoyed the dish and the meatballs and chicken were exceptionally cooked. Finally we ended with a chocolate cheesecake and tiramisu. While both were reasonably priced I did find the sizes to be a little smaller then most places I visit, especially the cheesecake. However both tasted fresh and we thoroughly enjoyed them. The tiramisu I enjoyed much more then other places I have gotten this. Overall this place is phenomenal all the way around. The service and food are first class and we will DEFINITELY BE BACK.
This is by far our favorite go to restaurant in Dallas. We love everything about this place especially Olga !! Out of all the times we’ve came here she has served us multiple times and she’s absolutely amazing. She brings a lot of charm, kindness and homeyness. One of the best servers and I can’t say that often. We always hope we get her as a server every time we stop by.
Nice little Italian restaurant with a long menu of lunch specials and several beers on tap. It's surrounded by office and apartment buildings and has paid street and garage parking nearby. We enjoyed the lasagna Bolognese and gnocchi. The fresh baked buns were a nice compliment. The service was thoughtful and attentive.
We placed a large group order to go. However, part of the group was vegan and vegetarian. The owner was very kind to make information available and offered customization to suit our palette and food restrictions. Despite being the busy hour, and such a big order, everything was perfect to the order and well packed. We loved the food and will be ordering again from them.
We needed a place to eat before seeing a show at The Majestic Theater and found this lovely spot on the map. I had the Gnocchi Gorgonzola, and my wife had the Chicken and Spinach Lasagna with Crème sauce. Both dishes were beautifully presented with an edible flower on top, and they were delicious and perfectly cooked. The staff were great, and we were very happy to have chosen this place for our pre-concert dinner. We will definitely be back before the next show at The Majestic.
Our experience was a 5-star one! Good thing we ate here before reading the bad reviews, or we might not have come at all. From the greeting at entry, to the personal attention the owner gave us, and our server's attitude, we couldn't be happier with the service. And food? Nothing short of authentic, Italian delicacy. My Veal Saltimbocca and my wife's Shrimp & Scallop Risotto were perfectly balanced in flavor and tenderness. Portions were just right, and prices reasonable. When in Dallas, definitely give this place a try.
The ambiance was warm and inviting, perfect for a relaxing meal. I tried their classic spaghetti bolognese, and it was tasty with a rich, hearty sauce that had a nice balance of flavors. The pasta was cooked perfectly, but I would have loved a bit more seasoning. The service was friendly, though it could have been a bit quicker.
The food was honestly really good. More of a casual Italian place if you don’t want to have to dress up but still want some good food. I felt like our waitress forgot about us for a while after we ate but it was fine because we were chatting. The vodka sauce was amazing, since I’m vegetarian and couldn’t have the normal vodka pasta on the menu k swapped it out for penne and that was no problem. Espresso martinis were very espresso strong, and the tiramisu could have been a little more moist but otherwise very good overall.
We went on a Monday night and the place was pretty disorganized. There wasn’t a sign telling you to wait to be seated or to seat yourself so we hand to hunt someone down to ask (FYI - it’s seat yourself). Once we were seated the service was pretty quick and the food came out hot. I ordered calamari and small pizza and both were good (especially the pizza) and my friend ordered chicken parm and cheesy bread. The bread was fresh but it tasted like they put old garlic oil on it and cheese that wasn’t completely melted so it was like flaccid plastic, and they didn’t drain the pasta so his plate was a watery mess. I only saw one person working in there the whole time and, although there were people seated at the bar with drinks and food, I never once saw anyone behind it. All things considered, I thought it was pretty good.
Server was really sweet and nice. The blonde bartender who was working on Feb 13th was very rude and has zero hospitality skills. We ordered drinks through our server and we asked for the wrong drinks. Our mistake.,but we went to bar to ask bartender about changing them out for us. She barked at us to handle it through our server. Bartender was not busy and was the opposite of how friendly our server was. The bartenders attitude was enough to keep us from ever returning.
It’s my first time trying this place so I went with the safe option, Alfredo and to be honest it was bland. It was a Togo order so maybe that’s why it was dry… (15 min drive home) Only reason I’m giving it a 3 star is because my husband and cousin got different items and they both liked it. Willing to give it a try another day and maybe dine inside see if it makes a difference.
Staff were very slow to take our order. Food came out fast once we ordered it, but was overall tasteless. The garlic bread buns somehow have no flavor (truly baffling how they accomplished that) and the Bolognese pasta sauce tasted just like chef boyardee meat sauce, lacking any spice or earthiness. My noodles were clumped together and some were hard. Also, having a $3 fee per check for split checks and forced gratuity for a party of only 4 people is ridiculous.
I’ve been to this place at least five times in hopes that the customer service experience would be different but it never is. It seems as if if you’re African-American they don’t want you in their establishment. The food is just OK overly priced bland Italian. Each time did I come here staff prepares seemingly for a dine and dash so I stop eating in and start getting my order to go same experience I would never return her again and I’m not saying they’re racist at all I’m saying that every time that I go and spend my hard earned money, I leave feeling unwanted and miserable and unwelcome and disappointed in the food 🍲
I decided to eat here on a Sunday evening after flying in with my coworkers for a medical equipment and supply convention. Unfortunately, the hotel employee recommended this place. The service was extremely slow. Our party of four barely touched our food—it was disappointing and could have been much better. The waitress kept forgetting our order, and the older blonde woman was just as unhelpful. We will never return!
If you find the frozen food section of Walmart to be good and enjoy listening to Chumbawamba playing over a 1982 set of crack Pioneer speakers, well you’re in luck. This place is fire. For the rest of us…wow, not sure what to say. The waitress was pleasant. Thats about where the good news stops. The first 2 beers I asked for were not available, so I called an audible and went with a basic red. Nope…not today they say. We don’t have X or Y…of course the 2 I wanted. Great - I’ll have an Ultra. I ordered the calamari and the veal parmesan. When I say this entire meal was out of the frozen section of Walmart I’m being too kind. Calamari worst I’ve ever had. Veal - it was a mixed rib cutlet at best. The veggies you get with it…all 6 tiny pieces were right out of the freezer, into a bowl to be microwaved. I really hate to talk poorly of places, but anyone giving this place anything beyond 3 stars needs a psych evaluation (or they enjoy freezer burnt meals). Hard pass…won’t even walk past the same side of the street next time I’m in town.
