Tip: Visit during happy hour for $1 oysters and good cocktail or beer deals. Some reviewers noted a strange smell, so be aware of that.

Looking for an elegant speakeasy that serves oysters 🦪 with black caviar and champagne; escargots, frog legs and more, in the heart of Downtown D! All while having local musicians play jazz or other ambient live music, then this place is a must-try! It’s right behind the Adolphus Tower on Main St. They also host oyster happy hours once in awhile. The oysters and caviar prices are great, the quality of oysters was 🔝 (PEIs and others east coast bivalves depending on the day and market), as well as caviar - priced reasonably! You can light up a cigar on the outside patio. They play old b&w movies on the screens. The bar is ample, including wine choices. I love the noir/gold color scheme and beautiful crystal glassware, and the chandeliers are a showstopper! Thoroughly enjoyable evening 🖤💛
This is a truly amazing bar with an incredible atmosphere. We are from Switzerland and we can assure everyone: you have to travel far to find such a jewel. The drinks are awesome, and there are some rare rums - and by chance we ran into a cigar night: the selection of Cuban cigars was awesome. We had a “35 Anniversary” Montecristo, to die for. Live Jazz music, lots of happy people, a great place.
I love coming here for an evening happy hour with $1 oysters, a good cocktail or a $5 beer. It has a very 1920’s or 30’s kind of vibe and on some evenings they have a good jazz band playing. Fantastic selection of whiskeys/bourbons (both US and Japan), and gin although you can get anything but these are their specialties. Fun outdoor sitting area too. Even the bathroom has a fun vibe lol. Sometimes it is packed with people and other times no one but don’t let that discourage you. Check it out for yourself.
The Mitchell!! Great food great wine great cocktails great bartenders great music great building great decor great vibe! My favorite Third Place in the metroplex.
Fantastic spot for cocktails and food in downtown Dallas. Service is great, as are the cocktails. It’s a nice fairly chill vibe normally, does not get crazy like some other bars in the area, and they often have live jazz music. They have $1 oyster happy hour Mondays and these oysters are delicious! Recommend the frog legs and beef tartare as well. Looking forward to trying additional menu options when I return!
EXQUISITE VIBES !! The service was attentive and had great drink recommendations, even willing to go off menu and suggest seasonal drinks. The food was great all around from roasted chicken to scallops and burgers. The wine list was especially French. Definitely going back for more.
I’m not sure what the best happy hour in Dallas is, but it’s not NOT this one. Bartender was great, martini was everything I wanted, oysters were a freaking dollar??? Knocked a star for atmosphere because it smells kind of ick in here, like a weird dirty drain smell.
We stopped for drinks after eating at Sky Blossom and YALL. It was so good! We should have gotten dinner here. They have a wide selection of spirits and the bartenders are super nice and will make you anything you like! If you're looking for some good strong drinks, The Mitchell is the spot to be. We will definitely return to try their food.
I came in for a drink but stuck around. Great NY Sour, great music, great food
The Mitchell is truly a one of a kind experience. It feels like a secret hideout that you can’t wait to bring your friends to. The cocktails are expertly crafted and the food is dynamic and unique. The staff is attentive, personable, and thoughtful. They went out of their way to make us feel like regulars despite being from out of state. Big thank you to the awesome staff, Justin and Dwayne. They made our experience all the more special
Great selection and variety of quality spirits. And champagne of beers! Excellent mixologists too! Live music was great. NYC vibe with nice TX tude.
The place may seem like only an alchemist type of bar. However, their menu heavily gourmet French inspired dishes with; Escargot 🐌, Ratatouille 🥘, Rabbit Confit 🐇(at one point), Champignons 🍄, Duck 🦆, Quail 🐦, Frog Legs 🐸. Their Chef and Sous Chef create amazing dishes which I'm impressed each time. The best cooked Quail I've had in my lifetime!
Someone recommended this place to us and it did not disappoint. We had such a fun evening here! Bartenders were super friendly, drinks and food absolutely delicious! Live music only made it better. Definitely worth checking out!

Great spot for drinking craft cocktails and smoking cigars on their front patio. I especially appreciated the raw oyster bar and the open kitchen, something you don't often see with cocktail bars. This is definitely going in my list of favorite places for a late night drink or bite in Dallas.
This place is an amusement park for your taste buds. Just like all amusement parks, you're going to be waiting a little bit in between rides, but that's ok - it's worth it. Hands down one of the best cocktails and food I've had in Dallas. Oysters, bone marrow, frogs legs, steak tartare and a handful of custom cocktails made for such an enjoyable evening with friends.
I love a place like this with an exotic and varied cocktail menu, and I wasn't disappointed. Everything was awesome. Plus they had $1 oysters! Can't beat that.
Okay, this is a review from someone who has been to a lot of “hip” bars and places claiming to be a cool “vibe” hang out. Well, this one is that and then some. I’m a big fan of live Jazz and they had it for REAL. The old fashioned was amazing! Check this place out and you won’t be disappointed.
I was in Dallas for the night before I caught a flight. I came an across The Mitchell by accident and I’m glad I did. I stopped for a drink and stayed for dinner. Then have a small library, so I got to read up on rustic French cooking while sipping my cocktail. The steak frites was 10/10. The cocktails, menu, music, and atmosphere was just what I needed. Tab is an excellent bartender and sets a great tone for the place. I’ll be passing through Dallas regularly and this will be my goto.
First the service is incredible. Professional, knowledgeable, kind and engaging. The cocktails & jazz music provide an amazing ambiance. But the real 1000/10 is the food. The chef is brings culinary innovation that is worthy of the highest praise.
love the jazz nights, our bartender Anna is amazing and such a professional! With their creative and delicious cocktails, this cozy bar will transport you to another time in style.

Amazing place! If Anna (the best bartender in the universe) isn’t too busy, ask her to surprise you with a drink of her choice. She’s basically the ChatGPT of cocktails—except her answers come in a glass. 10/10, would sip again!
Loved the look of this place. The drinks were excellent. We had the escargot and loved it. Really enjoyed the live music...BUT the music vibe didn't match the scene. They were good, just not what you would expect, it was 70's instead of more modern music. There were several people who came in, waited about 5 min and left. I really think it was bc the type of music, bc everything else was great! Don't get me wrong, The band was great, just not the right place.
Unfortunately, I found the creative process and presentation to be more interesting than the cocktails. None of the drinks wowed me in terms of their flavor, it felt muddled and had no point of view. The decor is a nice mix of traditional and modern. Seating was very comfortable at the bar. They offer unique menu items like bone marrow, quail, frog legs, oysters with caviar and also sell cigars. Overall it was worth coming for a couple of hours to enjoy cocktails, perhaps the food is better than the drinks.
Arriving to, The Mitchell, on a Saturday evening around 11:30pm, I was surprised they had few guest, but my first impression was exactly what a business owner would want; I found the place charming, cozy, and the entertainer alluring in every way. We were excited to enjoy a cocktail, and entertainment, unfortunately, the bar staff’s professionalism didn’t rise to the occasion. When you have a huge assortment of liquors, you should expect guest to ask if you carry what they prefer, and the cost; that’s an educated consumer. Making recommendations when needed, is also something I would expect of a bar professional, not walking away, and saying let me know when you figure out what you want, while you go sit with friends. Everyone should enjoy the evening the way they choose, but while we were given less than amazing service for asking questions about the Japanese whisky options, most of the bar was drinking beer from a bottle! Why put forth the effort of design, and entertainment, if the staff sabotage it all! I’m positive, The Mitchell can do better!
