I can’t believe we only just discovered this place, it’s everything you could ask for on a date night, a place to meet up with friends or a venue for a party - it checks all the boxes. We went for happy hour (1/2 off cocktails). After deciding to stay for a second round it started to rain. The staff was super accommodating and moved us from the outside back to a covered table with no trouble. It’s wonderful to meander along the paths, explore different parts of the gardens, look for unique plants or hidden statues and spot the fish in the pond. The inside is almost as attractive as the gardens themselves, high ceilings and tastefully decorated. The bar area is fantastic - a courtyard that is covered and air conditioned. I can’t wait to come back here.
A fantastic experience. I was blown away by Sundy house, and never expected the grounds to be so beautiful. The service was fantastic, from the receptionists to the waiters. The food was delicious, everyone was pleased. The grounds and the room itself was so unique, with just the right amount of age without it feeling too antiquated. We had a great time wandering around the gardens in the morning. Overall an incredible stay, and a fantastic little getaway.
Very good service. I didn’t feel rushed at all. It was nearly like going to a restaurant that you feel totally at home. The buffet is incredible on Sundays. Every food option you can think of. Our server kept the mimosas coming met all of our needs.
Oh my! This place has to be THE BEST restaurant I have ever frequented. It is set among a tropical paradise in the middle of downtown Delray Beach. The brunch was simple and out of this world as was the chocolate birthday cake we ordered. The service was impeccable. Our server Brigitte and her assistant Manoushka were very friendly, extremely accommodating, animated, and so eager to treat the 7 of us ladies like queens. What a fantastic place to dine. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you experience this fabulous restaurant in the middle of a forest, streams, waterfalls, and wildlife!
Charming setting with an exotic garden surrounding. What an amazing place for a romantic garden dining experience. Their Mother's Day brunch is impressive and reasonably priced. I love their seafood display and highly recommend it as the perfect gift for mom or someone deserving. Can't complain about the service and the food is absolutely delicious. Best time for outdoor dining is during the winter months. It can get a bit humid during the summer, but still worth it!
I had the most amazing experience here and it will forever be an important memory. My then boyfriend took me here for dinner May 21st, 2017 at 6:30 pm. Immediately was in awe by the elaborate but quaint decor. It was warm and comforting. We ate on the terrace and the garden and pond was breathtaking. We ordered the Korean BBQ skewers and Fig salad for appetizers. I ordered the seared duck for the main course and he ordered the pork shank. Everything was delectable. After dinner, my boyfriend took me on a stroll through the gardens and proposed to me in front of their natural lagoon pool. I cried and said yes. When we went back to our table our wonderful waitress gave us two champagnes on the house. The most amazing dinner experience I have ever had. Great service, food, and ambiance. Our waitress even let us know that they do wedding venues . This place will definitely be on our list! Thank you to the staff at Sundy House for the best memory I'll ever have.
We went to Sundy House to celebrate a birthday and we were not disappointed. The staff was very pleasant and the food was wonderful. Taylor ,our waitress, was so sweet and helpful with helping us choose our meals. She was very knowledgeable of the menu. The ambiance is excellent and well suited for a quiet and romantic evening. Thank you Sundy House ,we will be back.
Every year we spend Mother's Day at the Sundy House, never once were we disappointed. From the valet staff to the managers, they are well worth the price. It is truly the best buffet there is, amazing. Thanks to everyone there, for making my Wife and Daughter comfortable and happy
Landmark property with amazing food to match the amazing ambiance. TWe took the family to brunch and enjoyed all the variety of fine food. The kids enjoyed exploring the property and checking out the ponds and cenote. I didn't even know we had those in Florida! Drinks were well made. Service was excellent. Can't wait until next Sunday to visit Sundy.
Had dinner there this evening with a very beautiful woman. When I arrived, the valet was perfect. He was polite and I felt very comfortable giving him my car. A good start. When I walked in we were greeted by the hostess. A better welcome does not exist. This young woman treated us as if we owned the place. We got to our table and the waiter followed suit... he was perfect. ( HE DESERVED AN AMPLE GRATUITY) They accommodated my dates special requests to make changes to her appetizer and main course. I haven't been to the Sundy House in 10 years because I moved out of the area but for sure we will be back.
The Sunday Brunch is very special. If it's a nice day out, there isn't a single bed seat in the house. The grounds are beautiful and the waitstaff is always very professional. Pro move: get a freshly made waffle from The breakfast station, then pile on a couple of truffle fried chicken strips from the entrees and lastly a dollop of whipped cream and syrup from the dessert station.
We took our daughter here for her 16th birthday tonight and the food and atmosphere did not disappoint. While I have been here several times, they had not! The current chef is amazing and they go above and beyond to keep everyone safe during this time. I highly recommend especially if you have any concerns about the restaurants right now. Wonderful!
WOW this place is magical. I cannot wait to go back and eat at Sundy House - I would love to stay here as well, even though I am a local! This spot is perfect for any event! The food was amazing and the staff truly cares and you can tell. My only suggestion to the Sundy House would be to invest in "citronella coils" if candles are too hazardous. We were made aware that there were mosquitos outside before we were sat. Thankfully our server kindly offered her own personal mosquito repellent lotion and it worked wonders. Amazing place, amazing people and amazing food~
Our visits here to set up flowers for weddings and baby showers are at the top of our list. We enjoy all of the nature at this venue. Displays of a charity of trees, plants and flowers really engages the senses. We even celebrated our own anniversary here last year with brunch. You must make the trip on a Sunday. It is so worth it it!
I recently enjoyed a beautiful bachelorette brunch at the Sunday House in a gazebo and everything was absolutely beautiful! The service and managers go over and beyond to create a memorial experience. I’m vegan so they accommodated my requests and I enjoyed avocado toast, potatoes, and of course yummy mimosas! While we were there there was a wedding and bridal shower in different parts of the Sunday House and I can tell you nothing felt like we were on top of each other or intruding in each other’s events. It really is a large beautiful garden design to make your event no matter the occasion a serene time! Thank you Sunday House!
Beautiful venue where we had our wedding! Everywhere you look is a picture worthy of taking. The Staff were so accommodating and everything was just amazing. All our guests commented on how lovely and great the food was! Would definitely love to go back to have brunch there one day, it truly was magical.
I can’t thank Sundy House enough for their outstanding accommodations, fantastic service and endless hospitality! The entire staff made our day so special for our Bride to be and it was just the most perfect day! Thank you so much for such a great first experience at your location! Amy, Adnane and Joan were so hospitable our entire visit. I also wanted to mention the beautiful garden views we had that really set the scene for our special day, I have never been to such an enchanted area dining before! I can not wait to visit again!!
My family just enjoyed diner for my father's birthday at the Sundy house. We were seated outside in a gazebo. We were concerned about it being too hot outside, however, our server turned on a fan and everything was perfect. The outdoor seating was very nice, as well as the food. Overall, it was an excellent experience.
We love going here for Brunch. Though we couldn't afford it every weekend, it is most definitely our "special occasion" brunch spot. It is well worth it and you will not be disappointed. From the warm welcome of the valets, to check in and obviously the food and service staff all top notch.
Hands down one of our top favorites! This place is literally right off the main road so we were concerned that it would be loud while we were eating but as soon as you step through those gates you are stepping into a botanical garden with lovely water features, an abundance of tropical plants and many pathways to walk around and see everything. We both had an excellent meal and the only noises we heard were the waterfalls and the birds. It's a bit pricey, but if you live in the area or are visiting it is a MUST TRY! We can't wait to go back.
WOW! This place is incredible. A group of us stayed overnight for a birthday and when the AC broke in our original room they let us move into a larger suite almost immediately. We ate brunch at this hotel as well and the food and service was spectacular. It’s worth the price. Oh and the property is perfectly picturesque - perfect for photos, dates, or a wedding!
What an amazingly experience. From the first my husband and I had our car parked until we left the beautiful, lush grounds, service and food were all exceptional. We celebrated our anniversary with brunch on Saturday. The tuna tartare salad was delicious and my large blueberry pancakes with bacon hit the spot with our coconut mojitos. Our table for 2 was nestled under magnificent trees that kept us cool on a hot day with a brook running near us. Our waitress was attentive and excellent as was the whole experience. We have reservations for our next visit!
I attended a baby shower here recently and it was my first time visiting. It was a beautiful venue and the food was good! There are a lot of paths that lead to a pond which was a great place for us to take pictures. The shower was held in a private room which was nice and allowed the event to be a little more secluded. The staff was friendly and attentive.
This is an experience for someone like me who doesn't spend $75 per person for dining. I've had Sundy House brunch on my short list for around 20 years, being a PBC native, this place has a reputation with us locals for great brunch. Well, I finally made it there and it was all that I hoped it would be. Old Florida charm, hospitable service and excellent food selection. So glad I went after all these years.
The brunch is delich! The outdoor gazebo we dined in was so elegant yet down to earth, relaxing while feeling fancy. The entire experience was heavenly. We have returned several times. Like most places this good it’s expensive but a true experience in a historical charming and purely delightful restaurant.
Celebrated my birthday here tonight. I was blown away as soon as I parked. What a beautiful setting. Tropical, romantic and well managed. I loved the hidden tables around the the beautiful landscaping, tress, flowers and gazebos. The lights that guide the path and light up your seating area. Staff was amazing. Food was even 5 stars. This is now my new place.
This is Mother day special Sunday Brunch. I like the atmosphere outside like a botanical Garden. But some of the cold cut and cheese. Look like stay outside for more than 2 hours.why not display under a ice plate . Food is good. Service is good. Atmosphere is Great
We finally had the opportunity to try the Sunday Brunch. The Sundy House did a brilliant job of offering their buffet style brunch by offering an all you can eat menu brought to the table. We truly enjoyed our experience although I do not feel it was worth $75 per person.
Went here to celebrate our engagement and the food was phenomenal! We arrived 15 minutes early, garden seating is first come first serve, but unfortunately no one was at the desk to greet us and we ended up waiting another 10-15 minutes for a host to seat us. Despite starting off on a bad foot, our server Zeynel was very helpful in choosing a nice wine pairing with our meal and was very attentive and funny throughout the night, even while dealing with a large party in the gazebo behind us. We had the salmon and mahi mahi plates with a side of calamari and this was by far the best seafood meal I've had! Although we were disappointed with no one congratulating us (I proposed on the same day and it was written in the reservation notes) I would still recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!
We went there for Sunday brunch. It was a good experience that could have been even better, but circumstances were out of the staff's hands. Apparently the air conditioner died in one of the big rooms so they had to scramble to seat their guests as they could. They did as good a job as they could from what could gather. We were seated a half hour after our reservation. We were put outside on a beautiful BUT HOT day. We did our best to enjoy our meals, but it was just to hot to be sitting out there. The servers were very helpful and attentive and we enjoyed some of the food stations. It was a good experience to have, but my wife and I are not sure if it was good enough to come back too.
The staff was not super welcoming on our arrival but were very accommodating later. The gardens are beautiful! The rooms could be more comfortable for the price and the prestige. Brunch was not bad (the wide variety of food was impressive) but you’re really paying for the ambiance.
I know a lot of people come here for brunch, but we've primarily come here for the bed and breakfast. It's the perfect place for a staycation. If you want to visit Delray Beach, spend a few nights here, and then get around town. As you can see from other reviews, they have a great brunch, too! In my opinion, this is the place to stay during July 4th weekend because you can walk to the beach and watch the fireworks.
Let me begin by saying I just stopped by to purchase a gift card, although I have eaten here and been very satisfied. My friend needed a special gift for someone and was not familiar with restaurants in the Delray area. This was the first place that came to mind because not only is the food delicious but the experience is really what stands out. Beautiful outdoor seating in a lush botanical garden setting with gazebos, ponds, and statuary. Perfect for an intimate dinner under the stars or a wedding. The interior of the restaurant is equally interesting with an open air veranda and central bar. For a special occasion, I highly recommend the brunch. You won't be disappointed. The only negative for me, on this occasion, was the length of time it took to get someone to help us and provide the certificate and no one really seemed knowledgeable about the prices for the boutique bungalo cottages available for an overnight stay. This place is on my bucket list for a weekend getaway to include the brunch.
I used to love this restaurant and originally rated it as five stars. It was my favorite brunch spot and I used to frequent it. Today, I came here with my wife, mother in-law, and daughter. The atmosphere was still lovely, but the food and selections went down and were average rather than exquisite. The service was horrendous, plates were not picked up and drinks were not refilled. The drinks were watered down, and even the bathroom walls had holes in them and the paint was bubbling on the wall. To add insult to injury they added a 20% mandatory gratuity charge to the check which left zero motivation to meet or exceed customer expectations. This has nothing to do with the pandemic and everything to do with maintenance of pricing, significant reduction of food and drink quality, and unacceptable service for a higher-end establishment. Very disappointed and will not be back.
We arrived half hour early for a lunch reservation but were told they couldn't seat us till our reservation time. They suggested we walk around the gardens which was beautiful and peaceful. Once seated service was prompt food was delicious but I wish they had some more vegetarian choices. It took a while for our server to bring the check and return it but the atmosphere was relaxing and they had live music playing so it wasn't that bad. Overall it was enjoyable.
Atmosphere and live music were outstanding. Food was pretty good, and there was a surprising amount of options. Not many vegetarian options though. Service was where everything fell apart. Our table was never cleared, went up multiple times to the buffet and always came back to our same dirty plates still sitting at the table. Silverware was not refreshed. Drinks were not replenished. I asked our server assistant for a glass of champagne and he said he didn’t know what that was. Waited 20 min for our check, and then to find out an automatic 20% tip was included for a party of 2 on top of a $75 brunch was a bit much. If service had been up to par we would’ve been happy paying the 20%, but our server was covering 10-12 tables with essentially no beneficial help so it was not her fault but instead management’s. Would like to come back for an a la carte night in the hopes that the restaurant is better staffed.
Recently stayed here to celebrate our 1 year anniversary.... The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful... Everything was walking distance and easy to get to... However, the room was not very nice (dirty, moldy shower and shower curtian, no fridge and difficult to get new towels) nor were the people working that weekend with the exception of our waitress from dinner on Sunday evening. She was wonderful and extremely helpful.... Even though we still enjoyed our stay, I would not recommend staying there... To eat, absolutely.
Got invited to a Sunday brunch on 1/2 with friends and after researching the menu, realized it was a buffet style. We don’t live in Delray so its not that I should have known it was buffet. I am 30 weeks pregnant and visibly large - I cannot eat that much nor can I drink. I asked the manager working on 1/1 if they would accommodate me considering I cannot drink the mimosas/bloodies and cannot eat $75 worth of food. Even if it was $50 that would have been reasonable. The manager smugly told me that’s just the price and “plenty of pregnant ladies” pay the full price even though they can’t drink. Wow, this is modern times and yet we’re still not accommodating pregnant women? This place should be ashamed. Update - Our wonderful server was kind enough to consider that I wouldn't be eating and drinking at the table and still treated me the same as everyone else. Thank you to her for showing compassion and great service in a time when there's rising covid cases and restaurants are short staffed everywhere.
The property and dining areas are absolutely stunning and beautiful. The service was good. The food was mixed. The crab legs were the worst I have ever had. The shrimp were large and not bad but not great either. The eggs benedict were terrible. The short ribs were good. In summary, the brunch is not worth the money. We will not go back. I can imagine that the restaurant generally serves very good food in a stunning atmosphere.
I frequent The Sundy House often for brunch. I'm disappointed in my last brunch experience.I took my friend to celebrate her birthday. The reservation was originally for 10 people which was later modified to 7 confirmed guests several hours prior to arriving for our reservation. We we're seated in the pavilion, a lovely view, the food was good and our server was very nice and attentive. At the end of our meal, our server brought the bill and we paid without reviewing the check as it's brunch everyone pays the same amount of $75 per person. We even paid our server over and above the included gratuity that was added to our check. Everyone left satisfied with the experience until Monday. I reviewed our bill only to learn that we were charged for 9 guests instead of 7 - an honest mistake? I immediately called and left a message explaining the matter and requested a call back; I did not receive a call. A second message was left requesting a manager call but still no call back. I have yet to receive a call to address this matter after 2 weeks. Sunday House has lost a loyal.patrone of their establishment. I'm disappointed since it was one of my favorite brunch spots. Review your check prior to paying, I wish I did!
I've always been a big fan of the Sundy House because of the wonderful ambiance, gardens, food, and amazing Sunday brunch. So my husband and I decided to stay at the Sundy House Inn for a few days on a romantic getaway. We had a wonderful time until the last night when on our way to dinner we, inadvertently, forgot the room key in the room. Unaware of this, we stayed out past the closing time of the restaurant. When we realized we had no key to get into our room, we tried calling the main number, knocking on every window of the offices, etc. But no one was there. After about one hour trying to figure out what to do, we decided to walk to the Colony Hotel, about 10 minutes away, and get a room there for the night so as not to have to sleep under the intracoastal bridge. The manager at the Colony Hotel was shocked that Sundy House runs an inn and yet there is no overnight staff or emergency number to call to handle emergencies and contingencies. We are most likely not going to be the only people who forget their room key. The next day, we walked back and were able to get one of the cleaning staff to open our room. But there were no other employees there, although it was 9:30 a.m. I later called Sundy House to let them know that we ended up paying over $200 to stay at a different hotel because of what happened and, therefore, did not use our room. But they neither offered a refund nor an apology for not having contingency plans to handle these kinds of emergencies. Of course, it was our fault that we forgot our key but any other hotel would have at one employee on call overnight in case any emergency occurs in their inn. This is very disappointing, particularly since the Sundy House is an otherwise lovely place.
Beautiful, gorgeous house... gardens, ponds, brooks, trees, little nooks to sit at, but don't eat there. Yes service was likely especially slow since it was NY day.. and we were a group of 20.. but they knew this in advance. 1 1/2 hours until our orders were taken, and the waiter looked mortified that we wanted separate checks.. also made aware of in advance. Then another 1 3/4 hours until our orders arrived.. most of them cold! And the portions were tiny! So how much sooner do you think you would get your tiny portions of food on a regular day?
We came in at 1:45pm for our 2pm appointment. Got seated around 2:20pm. Place was dirty. There were chicken bones and other food on the floor around the table. We had to replace glasses they were dirty. Service was very "cold" and slow. Food was good overall, but a lot of things were sitting on shelves for a awhile. They didn't add any fresh items. People next to us complained that there is no food anymore and waitress said that kitchen is closed. Bad experience overall. $80 per person is way overpriced. On top of everything they took automatically $62 for tips . My verdict is I would not recommend this restaurant.
Decent food overall, but an extremely disappointing experience and presentation for Valentine's Day's very expensive dinner prix fixe. You know you're in trouble when your four course dinner takes more than two and a half hours to be served and your servers' most common words are constant apologies for delays and oversights...we had to ask for everything that should have been automatic. Also, my wife's lobster tail part of her surf and turf was tough as nails and cold (probably due to delay) though the steak was excellent. And in fairness the crab cake, duck and bread pudding were good...when we finally got them. But we won't go back next time we visit Delray. They didn't come through, and certainly not for the high Valentine's Day price.
Today we drove an hour to have a family brunch at Sundy House. It’s been years since we were last there and thought it would be a fun and wonderful experience. Disappointing! Our reservation was for 12:30 and we were not seated until after 1:30 without an offer to grab a plate and snack for a bit while waiting. When asked how long the wait would be, the young lady was never able to provide us with an estimate. I wish we would have left and dined somewhere else. It was a long drive and a long wait for some very average food. The selection and options were nice, but just not that good. The desserts were all of the big box store variety. Just not what it used to be, not worth the wait and definitely not worth the money.
Brunch was expensive (as expected) but you definitely don’t get what you pay for. The waitress taking care of us barely came by to check on us or offer extra drinks. Seeing as to it is bottomless beverages, you would think they would be more considerate in visiting your table. Instead, they avoided eye contact. The food was great, but what is the point of a 20% mandatory tip if your not even being served? Also being rushed out isn’t a great feeling when trying to enjoy your stay. With that being said it’s a beautiful place with great food. However it is over priced and the service is poor.
Couldn’t have been a worse experience. We reserved our Christmas Eve family dinner for 7 a month in advance. We were truly looking forward to it. My husband had checked out the menu online several times. Once arriving, we checked in and began waiting. We had no idea it was a buffet for $100 pp. (reservations mention a Christmas Day brunch-we were there for a Christmas Eve dinner NOT brunch) Everyone we encountered was extremely rude and unpleasant. (Not the atmosphere we were looking for on Christmas Eve) We showed up for our reservation, waited 30 minutes and made the decision to go elsewhere. They still charged us $100. Under normal circumstances I understand that policy but it was never stated that it was a price fixe buffet. We’ve tried repeatedly by phone and email to resolve this without any luck. Absolutely no response from management whatsoever. We are really patient, kind people and it takes a lot for me to complain. This was really that bad! Live and learn. We were stuck traipsing down Atlantic Ave as a family of 7 at 8:30pm Christmas Eve looking for another option. Yet they they charged us 🤷♀️
Beyond disappointing! We made a reservation for 6 people on a Saturday night. Lovely round table in a gazebo in their garden. What they didn’t tell us was there was a wedding going on 100 yards from our table. Couldn’t hear ourselves talk while dining on a very expensive and mediocre meal. When salt was needed for our food not a server in sight! For a restaurant of this caliber you would expect servers nearby asking if everything was ok or if we needed anything. You would also think that while taking our reservation they would have warned us that a wedding was taking place...and perhaps sit us somewhere else. Adding insult to injury - this fine establishment charged us $7 to park while eating at their restaurant. Never again!!!!
Beautiful atmosphere, but we were very disappointed by the (poorly lit) table we were seated at for dinner. We were celebrating a bday that we planned w/ staff in advance & it was completely overlooked. Meals were ok. Definitely not the experience we were hoping for. The gratuity is automatically added so be aware of that & it's definitely not kid friendly. Valet parking only too.
Heard that next weekend is the last weekend for their Sunday Brunches.. My husband has never been. Wanted him to experience what I have experienced every Christmas for the last 12 years. Could not get a reservation until 2:30. Even with reservation we waited 35 minutes to be seated. The gentleman sat us at a table that was not set and had food all over the table cloth. When the waiter came over 10 minutes later. He was shocked someone sat us at a table looking like that. Soo by the time we were able to go get food it was well after 3pm. The buffet was only 1/2 full. Went back and none of the food was refilled. I took some blackberries off the charcuterie board. Stopped at the bar to get some salt and a bug crawled out of the fruit.. I don't know how to even express the disappointment I felt today... The experience was definitely not want I wanted my husband to experience!
Despite the wonderful gardens and decor, the service this place has is below any star. It is not equipped for wheelchairs! A reservation was made, specifically asking for wheelchair accessible, and outside for 7 people and a baby with a stroller. They showed us an outside table on an incline where debris was on top of the table from the trees above. The other was on the side porch. We took the side porch since it was at least leveled and covered from possible debris. Then the hostess came and pretty much said we needed to move to another place, freezing inside! We said, “we made the reservations for outside and you showed us this table” Her answer was, “you making the reservation doesn’t guarantee you’ll get what you want” 😱 We asked if she could join two tables and let us sit there, after all, we were a party of 7 plus a baby, and we had taken this table on the side porch because she gave us no option and she said, “no, those tables need to be for 4 people each.” Like if that wasn’t enough, after we sat at this table, she placed a party of 6 right behind us and tried to force people to sit next to us to our left. Thank goodness the people were smart and would not take the table to our left while all the other tables were free. We were crammed in a corner with a Wheelchair and a stroller because the hostess did not feel like putting two tables together and wanted us inside in a freezing room. In addition, there was a wedding there that night, so the line to the bathroom was ridiculous. Did I mention they don’t have refills? They charged us so much for sodas and ice teas. They put their 20% service fee already, for a waiter who had to be called in a couple of times to at least being water to the table. Food was ok, I am sure one can get an overpriced salad somewhere else. Terrible place, I have never felt so unwelcome as I this past Friday. We tried to reach the manager but no one ever answers the calls
This review is just for the Valentines buffet dinner, so disappointing! We had a reservation at 6:00, were seated at 6:35. So much of the food that was suppose to be available, was not filled when my husband and I went to get our food. Twice, there were no tomatoes, no mashed potatoes, no ribs. The salmon was dry and cold. The vegetables were terribly cold and unappetizing. When it was time for dessert, there was no one there to scoop the ice cream. Another guest and I waited for about 7-9 min, finally a worker that was carrying a refill of salad came to scoop our ice cream. The bill came, and we were shocked at the $250.00 check. Fortunately, for those that drink, Sunday House offered complimentary wine and champagne, unfortunately, we don’t drink. 20% gratuity was included in the $250.00, but we were taxed on this tip. We have lived in the area since 2003, heard so many wonderful things about Sunday House, this being our first time, sadly due to food quality and cost, we will not be returning.
We attended a wedding here and the wedding was beautiful. However, I would not recommend staying here. Staff was non-existent. I literally couldn’t find anyone anywhere. My toilet ran all day and night and wouldn’t flush. I had to walk quite a distance to use the restroom. Their continental breakfast is a joke. They had cereal but no milk. A keurig and K cups but no water to fill it to make the coffee. I sent an email to manager but no response but after the stay it doesn’t surprise me. I heard brunch here is great but after the horrible stay I did not want to give one more dollar to this place!!!
Absolutely terrible. Came here for Christmas dinner and made a reservation to still wait 30 minutes. But they’re quick to charge people $100 if you were to cancel. Sat at the bar - bartender wasn’t polite and kept making incorrect drinks. Also smelled like a run down beach bar. Finally got sat at our table, which was nearly a 5 minute walk into the depths of the darkness, away from the buffet. Whatever, I counted that as a benefit for me to work out while eating. Now the buffet. Totally unacceptable. They had breakfast food out for a evening dinner? What were they thinking?! They had limited options, crab leg smelled just like the dirty water they kept it in, meat was rare. It was probably the worst buffet I’ve ever been to. The insane part was that they were charging guests $100 a plate!! Obviously tried to come up with a compromise with the manager who clearly doesn’t care whether the business stays running. I would never come back and I feel so bad for our server who did a great job, despite our complaints and the day. Her name is Amber. Amber, thank you for your service, however, for your benefit, go work somewhere else. You’ll make much more at a different restaurant than this place that resembles a McDonald’s in the Bronx. I’ve been here several times before this and have been satisfied in the past. They must’ve had a terrible downgrade - which I put 100% of the blame on the manager. Update: Regarding Sundy’s House response to my review - as clearly stated in my review, I have already spoken with that trash manager. Working on disputing the charge and happily sharing with others how disgusting this place is. Thanks tho!
Not sure where to begin, we are a party of 4 that made reservations for a private cabana the Tuesday before the Saturday we planned to arrive, 5 days in advance. I explicitly asked the women on the phone if there is anything needed from me to guarantee the Cabana, as the nature of our event was private and special, she assured me we were all set. We arrive and the incredibly rude hostess who's name was Jeane, told us we cannot have the Cabana and proceeded to sit us at a 2 person table that was set for 4. We asked that if we really cannot have the cabana, to at least be seated at a proper table set for 4. We had even passed a 4 person table and asked to sit there, Gene stated it was intended for a party of 6 and needed to be left available if a party of 6 arrives. Not even 5 minutes after being seated at our mini table, the same hostess seats a party of 3 at the so called 6 person table...not even 5 minutes later.....as if to smack us in the face. We then sit and wait an hour in between appetizers and main courses. We were also told bread is by request, we requested it and it never arrived...our waitress told us at the end of our meal that the kitchen stopped making it and that's why she never brought it, as if we were supposed to know that. Once the mains arrive they are missing sides and 1 of the mains was completely undercooked to the point of being inedible. The same is always said about the Sunday house restaurant by us and those who have been, great food but terrible service. This will probably end up doing it for us. We will certainly never plan to go on a weekend, if we ever go again. Good luck if you choose to go.
What a terrible Thanksgiving / Anniversary experience! My husband and I decided to celebrate our five year wedding anniversary and Thanksgiving at the Sundy House. We made reservations almost a month in advanced for a 6 PM dinner. After arriving to the restaurant, we were told we would be seated in five minutes. An hour later, we were still sitting in the lobby. With no other options, we decided to stay. $75 per person was supposed to include Prosecco and craft beer which were told at the bar were unavailable and had to pay for our drinks. Also included was to be a buffet style Thanksgiving meal, sea food and dessert. I guess since we were the last reservation, there was limited food left. Other diners were furious and at every corner someone was complaining to staff. To say the atmosphere was tense was an understatement. The staff clearly didn’t want to be there and didn’t have a problem telling us they had been there since 8am and served over 600 people. Although the ambience is beautiful, I will definitely never be back.
Zero stars would be more appropriate but it is a gorgeous setting. Had brunch here yesterday and the only good thing about it was the weather. It was like one disappointment after the next and we really tried to to find something we liked but everything about this place was disgusting. The food was inedible, even the scrambled eggs were burned brown, the bathroom toilets were all clogged, and if we had a server the only time we saw her was when she brought the bill, which kinda made it hard to enjoy the bottomless part. Such a beautiful venue but I wouldn't recommend this place if you are interested in eating anything.
