We recently hosted my bridal shower at the caucus club and everything was amazing! Alicia the event coordinator was very easy to work with and an excellent communicator. They let us arrive early and set up our decorations which was great! Antonio and Andrew were our servers for the event and very attentive and helpful. Chef George made an excellent three-course meal, and all of it was delicious! The tosca chicken might be the best chicken I’ve ever had. The event turned out beautiful all-around. Definitely recommend the caucus club!

SERVICE: Our server, Brandon, was phenomenal. He was attentive and not over-bearing. He checked on us just the right amount of times! FOOD: Every last dish we had was delicious I highly recommend this place

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at the Caucus Club, and the entire experience far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was elegant yet comfortable — the perfect balance of class and warmth. The hostess greeted us with genuine kindness and even gave us a tour of the establishment, which was a nice personal touch. The live music added the perfect backdrop to an already beautiful evening. For dinner, my wife had the lamb chops, and I ordered the Chicago-aged ribeye. Both dishes were seasoned and cooked to perfection — you could truly taste the quality and attention to detail in every bite. Overall, the service, food, and ambiance were all outstanding. This was an unforgettable experience, and we’re already planning to return with our family. The Caucus Club is truly one of Detroit’s gems.

Wow is all I can say! Never been here before but can’t wait to return! What a hidden gem of the city! The atmosphere is comfortable with the great jazz pianist playing live. The tables were comfy but still upscale. Shellie, our server, couldn’t have been any nicer and knowledgeable! The food was absolutely delicious! The filet and Mac and cheese and asparagus were legit next level good! The French onion soup was some of the best I’ve ever had with a rich, flavorful broth! Even the apple crisp special for dessert was outstanding! Great place for a special occasion or just a nice, quiet dinner! Will come back here again absolutely!

Absolutely phenomenal experience! I had dinner at Caucas Club Restaurant tonight and my server, Shelly H., was absolutely amazing. She was warm, attentive, and made the entire experience exceptional from start to finish. Every recommendation she gave was spot on, and she made us feel genuinely cared for throughout the meal. You can tell she takes real pride in what she does. Thank you, Shelly, for making our night so enjoyable — we’ll definitely be back because of you!

Service was incredible and so was the food! Brandon took such good care of us on my fiancés birthday and catered to his gluten allergy. He was one of the best servers we’ve ever had anywhere! The jazz music was also so pleasant.

My husband and I were over joyed by our experience at Caucus Club! We are so glad to have hosted our wedding dinner here as the food, service, and atmosphere were beyond perfect. The owners, Alicia and George, were both so kind and helpful throughout our event planning process and they made sure everything was seamless including linens of our choice, custom menus, meeting our guests dietary restrictions, arranging the Jazz band for our wedding night, coordinating with our day of wedding coordinator, and much more. The restaurant manager, Joey, was also just as helpful! He made sure our timeline at the restaurant aligned with our day-of timeline, allowed us to walk through the restaurant, and answered each of our questions as they came up. My husband and I, as well as each of our guests, could not stop raving about Caucus Club's food and service. The waitstaff were so attentive to each of their tables, as were the valet attendants. Thank you so much Caucus Club for the perfect wedding dinner! We look forward to being back. -The D'Andreas

Top notch place with top notch service. The ambience of the dining room is very romantic. We were lucky enough to dine on a Tuesday evening when it was quiet in the dining room save for the wildly talented pianist, Sasha. What a treat! Our server Shellie was as fabulous as they come. The type of server you HOPE you get when you dine anywhere, but especially a classic steakhouse. We knew right away we were in good hands with Shellie. She was kind, funny, attentive, and her knowledge of the menu and kitchen was outstanding. She also made a very special evening for us (celebrating our engagement anniversary on the cusp of our upcoming wedding in addition to my recent college graduation) even more special but adding a nice touch to our key lime pie. The oysters Rockefeller and goat cheese truffles were to die for. The papardelle bolognese, New York strip, and mashed potatoes were perfect. And the key lime pie was divine. Thank you Shellie, Sasha, and Caucus Club for a perfect, special evening.

This place is amazing! Went a few days ago for dinner, my first time being here. The service was fantastic. We had multiple servers attending to us. Multiple members of the staff came to check on us and get to know us, ensuring that our time was fantastic. The food was exceptional, especially the crab cakes and oysters. Additionally, they have a fantastic selection of wines and desserts, so many choices! UPDATE: My second time here was just as amazing as the first. Our fabulous waitress, Shellie, was so attentive and sweet. She made our night extra special. I ordered the Barbra Streisand to start the evening off, what a luxurious drink! We also got some delicious oysters with extra fresh horeradish. I ordered the halibut for my main dish and many compliments to Chef George. Will definitely be back again!

My husband and I went here on 4/24/24 for my birthday. The experience was amazing! We walked in and we were greeted with a gentleman who opened the door for us and said “Welcome to the Caucus Club”. It was an amazing way to enter the establishment. Our waitress was Sarah and she truly made my birthday dinner special. She made the table side Caesar salad for us and it was very delicious. She took time to explain the process and why they use some of their ingredients. Throughout our meal she checked on us and made sure we had everything we needed. The food here was top tier. The Tomahawk steak was the best one I have ever had. The steak had a woody taste and the flavor was so unique. We ordered it medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. The Mac and cheese was really good. The potatoes dauphinoise was hands down the best I have tasted thus far. I have never had them with nutmeg before and it was delicious. The food was definitely a 10/10. At the end of dinner Sarah boxed up the food and even let us keep the bone for our dog. She surprised me with a birthday toast, which I thought was a very nice touch and way to end dinner. The ambiance of the place was very beautiful. The lighting was dim and romantic. Throughout dinner the musician planned the piano. I love places with live music. Overall this place was a delightful experience and top notch! We will be going back soon.

I can’t believe we’ve never been in here until a couple weeks ago. Piano trio and great friendly serve. Their menu has loads of options that aren’t steaks. I enjoyed our evening, our meal and the entertainment.

This place was amazing! The service, atmosphere and of course the food! They have a piano with a mic and soundboard, so while there wasn't live music while we were there, it wasn't a prop! We'd love to go back while it's live! I had the perch, which was delicious, perfectly seared, and seasoned, I did not have to add anything! My wife and son split the Woodfired ribs, and they were done quite well, too, andcameqithgarlic roasted mashed potatoes... a nice accompaniment. TheCaeser salad, prepared tableside, was quite good! Weekend got a history lesson of the Caeser Salad. Ifyo7 read my other reviews, you'll see I judge service... and tip, according to whether I see the bottom of my glass or not. I drink a lot of coffee and water and I never got more than a couple of sips before they were refilled. It was all hands-on deck. While our main server, Allen, was very attentive, the other server, and even the host, chipped in to ensure all our needs were met. Allen was great! Personable, funny, knowledgeable, and attentive. We were celebrating our anniversary, and he even gave us a card. The place is not cheap, definitely high-end, but well worth the cost for the service, atmosphere and great eats!

We went here for our anniversary dinner and had a wonderful experience. There weren't many people when we first arrived, but the place was soon bustling with guests. There was recorded jazz music playing until a live jazz trio started at 7pm. Brandon took excellent care of us and gave helpful recommendations. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was well prepared and flavorful from start to finish. We started with the burrata caprese, followed by lobster bisque and french onion soups. For dinner, we had filets that were each properly cooked and tender. The sides were also big enough to share. It was definitely a memorable experience.

My Husband and I came here to celebrate our 6 year anniversary and the food was incredible we ordered a dry aged bone in ribeye for our dinner and split it my husband dry ages meat himself and thought the quality of the steak was amazing. We ordered the Rockefeller oysters so good and the meatballs were delicious too. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a good quality steak and nice night out. The atmosphere was perfect for celebrating our anniversary the the live piano music was a really nice touch!

Tonight was my first time trying this restaurant. It is located inside the historic Penobscot Building in Detroit. Lovely dining experience, I arrived earlier than my guest, and was happily given a tour by the host Matt. I was able to learn the history of the restaurant, as well as the building, and chat with Matt for a few, very nice gentleman. We started at the bar and had our bartender/waitress Shelly improvise lime mocktails for us, and she did not disappoint, they were great! We made our way to the dining table where we started with the burrata caprese and made our way to the T-Bone Dry-Aged steak with a side of mac and cheese. For our dessert, we ordered the chocolate torte and biscoff cake. The only reason I’m not going through item by item is because I have one thing to say about all of them, phenomenal. I recommend every single thing listed! It was all presented beautifully as well. Big thank you to our waitress, Shelly. She was very personable and happy to share a very thorough explanation of the history of the restaurant. She also was able to go through the items on the menu to help us decide what to order. Very kind of her to provide such great service! The atmosphere is gorgeous. It’s very modern yet it somehow still has a traditional feel to it. Unfortunately, it looks like the pianist was not there today however, this just leaves another reason for me to come back soon! Highly recommended, and intend to come back.

Don’t know how we have missed this hidden gem! First timers for our Anniversary. We received a historical tour when we arrived and had the absolute BEST waiter, Antonio!!! The steaks were amazing! I loved the zip sauce! Jazz music was a nice extra also. Highly recommend and would definitely go back.

Food was good, atmosphere was great, service was amazing, but the prices are high. Live piano music with dim lighting made for a great atmosphere. Our waiter Alan did a superb job! He was friendly, always smiled, joked with us and was on top of our every need. Food was cooked to perfection however I was no more impressed with the food than a similar restaurant at half the prices. Don't let that stop you, I honestly have zero complaints. There is something to be said about getting everything right!

Shellie literally made my mother and I’s birthday experience a 12/10. Not only was she personable, she truly resonated with us. It was almost as if she looked at us and knew what we would like. Her recommendation for the lobster bisque and filet were spot on (Im not sure how I will be able to eat these dishes at another restaurant). I would come back just to have Shellie’s recommendation. Thank you for making our birthday so special and for recommending the best menu items. The cocktails, wine, appetizer, entrees, dessert, and service will absolutely have us coming back.

Great steak and sides. If they get the food wrong they always fix any accidental quality issues. They stand behind quality. Best steak in Detroit hands down !

❤️❤️❤️ For my birthday, we dined at the Caucus Club Detroit (a must visiti). The food was freaking amazing 👏🏽 👌🏽 😋. The staff top notch, shout out to JaWan our waiter, he earned every dime. I usually don't like the spotlight, but tonight I was okay with my birthday dedication song❤️😍. I recommend trying the Chicken Scaloppine Tosca, pan seared asparagus, & a twice baked baked potato. The Tiffany Bday drink was a tad bit much for, lol... (I'm weak) It was pretty though🩵🥂🩵

I loved everything about this place: the ambiance, the superior service, the fresh- well prepared food was just the icing on top! We were offered a chance to enjoy a brief tour of the kitchen and the meat locker, by one of the managers, Mike and it was so cool to see the pride that goes into each city of meat. I was blown away by the presentation and the ambiance. Will MOST DEFINITELY be back again!

From the moment we stepped into the restaurant, our experience was elevated to an extraordinary level, thanks in no small part to our waiter, Jaquan—or Jay, as he introduced himself. His down-to-earth demeanor and attentive service set the tone for what was an unforgettable celebration of my cousin's 18th birthday. Jay went above and beyond, ensuring that every aspect of our evening was nothing short of exceptional. The culinary journey began with appetizers that set a high bar: the lump crab cakes were a harmonious blend of flavors and textures, delighting our taste buds and igniting our anticipation for the main course. And indeed, the Chicago Cut Bone-in Ribeye that followed did not disappoint. It was, without exaggeration, one of the most exquisite ribeyes I've ever had the pleasure of savoring in Metro Detroit—a statement I do not make lightly, having frequented every notable steakhouse in the area. The Caucus Club, with its culinary prowess, stands as a formidable rival to the renowned London Chop House. Our side dishes—the Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes, and Mac & Cheese—were each a testament to the kitchen's commitment to quality and flavor, complementing the ribeye perfectly. The grand finale, a Chocolate Trout dessert, was a masterpiece of confectionery art. Despite my usual indifference to chocolate desserts, this creation, with its rich dark chocolate, velvety milk chocolate mousse, and the tartness of raspberry accented with nuts, was an epiphany.I wholeheartedly recommend the Caucus Club to anyone seeking an unparalleled steak experience paired with impeccable service. Make sure to request Jay as your waiter; his dedication to guest satisfaction will undoubtedly enhance your dining experience.

Where do I start? How about the hostess she greeted us before we entered the restaurant, she was very pleasant and very nice took us to our seat and we were promptly Waited on by Antonio who was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu . I had the macaroni which was some of the best I've had . My main course was the Pappardelle Bolognese which was very well seasoned and tasty . My friend ordered the Steak Frites, Wood Fired and he said it was well cooked and one of the better steaks he has had. Also ordered two Chocolate Torte to go and ate them the next night and they were very good too. The ambience is one of a kind. If you're looking for a fine dining experience to IMPRESS a date , a customer or any one for a matter of fact . Caucus Club is the place to go. I've been coming since I've been 16 and thoroughly enjoy my experience each and every time.

This is a traditional steak & seafood restaurant with old fashioned, formal service. We went on a Thursday evening and were one of less than a dozen in the place. The waiter was very attentive and the food was good. I had the rack of ribs which was well done and tender, but needed more sauce which the waiter was glad to get. Overall, it was a nice experience and we plan to return.

The atmosphere, service, and cuisine was top-notch! I enjoyed my dishes and the tableside service. I also enjoyed the musical performance of jazz standards while I ate there. It was a bit of a walk to get there from Park Avenue using Maps (even though I specified going there on foot, it gave me driving directions!), it was worth it! 5/5!

Had our son’s Wayne State University graduation family dinner at the Caucus Club. Our server, Louis, was great. Our son said it was the best steak he’s ever had. Love the atmosphere and glad they instill a dress code policy. Excellent service and fine dining!

Celebrated our anniversary there with a quiet dinner. This place is old school luxury dinning with a relaxed atmosphere and wonderful service. From the moment of stepping out of the car you are met by friendly staff at the valet service who escort you to the hostess. She greeted us after giving our names for the reservation with a warm Happy Anniversary, only to show us to our table in the corner that had a nice card on it acknowledging our anniversary as well. Little touches go a long way to enjoying the evening. Maryann was our server and could not have been nicer and attentive but not hovering. Our first course was the tenderloin tips in a brown sauce with wild mushrooms. Tender, juicy and delicious with a great mouth feel as the mushrooms were firm and lovely with the tenderness of the beef with a delicious brown sauce made this dish. My wife next had a salad which was nice while I had the lobster bisque. I have enjoyed lobster bisque for many years in many parts of the world and I can truly say that this was one of the absolute best I have ever had. It was creamy, lobster was tender with depth of flavor and a touch of spice in the back of the throat, my guess is paprika. This dish alone is why you come here. I had the chicken Milanese and it was fine. I can’t say anything bad about it but it was not in the realm of the tenderloin bits or the bisque. We finished the meal with a cheese cake slice and again, what a wonderful little twist to make the dense and often heavy cheesecake seem light, airy and refreshing, a touch of lemon. It was wonderful. Highly, HIGHLY recommend the Caucus Club for dinner. Last thing I want to mention is the pace of the meal. It was relaxed, not rushed and perfect for our evening as we had reservations later for the second show at Cliff Bells and so it all worked out beautifully.

This restaurant is marvelous!!! I took my wife here for our 19th wedding anniversary. We couldn't have been more pleased. Everything about this place exceeded expectations. The service 5 star, the food 5 star, the atmosphere 5 star. Take my word for it. If you go to "Caucus Club Detroit" you won't be disappointed. They even have live music after 7pm. Everything is made in-house except the ketchup.

The Caucus Club is the definition of timeless luxury in downtown Detroit. It stands as one of my top three steakhouses, and every visit feels like a masterclass in refinement. From the moment you arrive, the service is flawless—gracious, attentive, and polished without being pretentious. The wine list is exceptional, curated with the kind of depth that speaks to true collectors and connoisseurs. And then, the steaks. Cooked to absolute perfection, each bite balances rich flavor with expert precision—proof that classic technique never goes out of style. The “old school” steakhouse atmosphere doesn’t feel dated here; it feels iconic, like stepping into a tradition of elegance that only elevates the experience. The Caucus Club isn’t simply a place to dine—it’s a destination for anyone who values sophistication, extraordinary cuisine, and a night out that lingers in memory long after the last glass is poured. ✨ Detroit dining at its finest—an experience reserved for those who appreciate the art of luxury. 🥂

Sharing the same review I left on Open Table: Everything was lovely. The food was delicious. I loved how they brought everything out and timed it perfectly., allowing you to enjoy one thing, giving it a minute and then bringing out the next for you to enjoy. There was a live band, with a singer. The ambiance from the time you walk in was 10/10. Food 10/10. The only thing that I was disappointed about was the drinks. The presentation was great but they weren’t really good . For $46 for two margaritas, should have been delicious. Though I was disappointed with the drink menu, which I why my 2nd drink was a margarita, I still loved my experience.

Excellent customer service, great ambiance, live music, and really good food. We sweet there to celebrate my wife’s birthday and she also enjoyed it. The starter bread was warm and really good. I had Lobster bisque and it was probably one of the best I ever had. For main course I Dry aged bone in ribeye with compound garlic butter. I enjoyed it. I had better steak at other high end restaurants, but this one was also very good. I asked for the pepper corn sauce and that was disappointing. My wife had the Chicken Scaloppine and that was amazing! I liked it better than my steak. Try it for yourself!

The atmosphere is nice they have someone playing the piano. I ordered the wedge salad, really wasn’t a big fan, but the blue cheese dressing was great. My entree was Chicken Milanese which was my first time trying it and it was good. Ordered a side of Mac & cheese, the portion size was good, probably enough for two people. It tasted ok though. For dessert, the key lime pie was amazing!!!

We were passing through and wanted to have a dinner and jazz experience. Looked this up online and took a chance. Unfortunately, didn’t quite panned out. We were coming from Chicago and was running behind. I called to let them know and whoever answered said no problem. When we got there, I found that they canceled the open table reservation (no big deal but I was concerned they would charge cancellation fee-nothing so far). There was someone playing the piano which was kinda nice. We ordered the dry aged steak which had great flavor but a bit overcooked. The crab cake was fishy and too much breading. The caesar salad was not worth $32. The icing on the cake was the perch had a mouthful of scales☹️. I don’t I’ve been to any decent/upscale restaurants that serve fish with scales. $300+ bill. Not worth it. The next street over has nice restaurants which looked more appetizing.

J
Jaye Minx

The hostess was lovely and kind. The food was good but nothing interesting. Our server was non attentive and curt. Perhaps due to her not thinking she would make enough money (to make 5 star service worth her while) on our small party. Though I specifically booked reservations here for a special occasion. We did not let it ruin our evening.

L
Lexi Johnson

Dined here for Valentine’s day, and although I can understand a bit of a wait, 30 minutes past our reservation time was a very late in a very hot and overcrowded waiting area. Our server was good, unfortunately the food was not especially considering the $300+ bill. I ordered the lamb chops medium rare and upon cutting into them I discovered that they were both raw. Due to running late to other plans (due to the late start) we decided to head out without sending back the food but realized upon looking at the food at home how raw and inedible it truly was. Very disappointed in this restaurant and will not be returning in the future.

Went there for my birthday, for the first time ever yesterday. We got there at 9pm (they close at 11). We were offered bread and butter to start, and when we asked for more bread we were told there was a shortage on bread (we were the only people in the restaurant). That wasn't a big deal so we proceeded to order the entree. We ordered the Osso Buco (veil). The presentation was nice, however it seemed like the food was just warmed up in a microwave. The outside of the meat was somewhat warm and the inside was ice cold. The waiter was kind enough to take it off the bill, but my birthday dinner was ruined. I walked out of there, ordered pizza, and went home.

Let’s establish the baseline. I cannot be immensely mad as the venue was alright, (only because the music was great) & our server was absolutely amazing. However, when it comes to $700 for two people I would expect more. The food was extremely sad for people who actually enjoy food. We got items from their four course holiday menu (we went on New Years Eve). Every item was the most mid, basic, frozen then thawed & reheated esque taste. The main course, a filet mignon & a ribeye tasted identical. They were hard to cut into bites. The seasoning was trying to overpower the meat & was so salty it was gross. Additionally, our drinks were bleh as well. It was to the point I was considering just getting shots with our food because the mixed drinks were coming back like they were training a bartender on a holiday night. My husband usually embarrasses me with how fast he gobbles up his food but he couldn’t even finish more than two bites of it due to how chewy/non appetizing the steak was. We get our steaks medium rare. Even at Texas Roadhouse, they fall off the fork. This was….depressing. After this, we just ordered our desserts to go. But again, the venue was appealing. Our server was hyper attentive. He was great at mind reading, noticing body language & eye contact, was speedy. He honestly made the entire experience better. We probably would’ve left had his service not been so quick, diligent& attentive. The live music was amazing. The singer & the band were phenomenal. It would’ve been lovely to have been near them, but their speaker system was good, so that helped. Overall, due to the venue & location, I would’ve excepted a bill closer to $350 MAX. The bill we received blew my mind. I would’ve paid even more had it been quality food such as at Mr. Paul’s Chophouse. Definitely won’t be returning here.

I have extensive experience working in restaurants, and while I believe our server meant well, her approach and attentiveness fell well below the level of service I would expect from an establishment in this caliber. From the start, the server repeatedly discouraged us from ordering. When I asked about the Caesar salad (which has a two-person minimum and is highly recommended in reviews), she told us the portions were “really big” and suggested we share a wedge salad instead. I hadn’t asked for substitutions or advice on portion control — I simply wanted to order the Caesar as listed on the menu. Her tone and insistence made the interaction uncomfortable enough that I decided to skip a salad altogether. For entrées, my boyfriend ordered the halibut, and I ordered a filet cooked medium rare. My steak arrived noticeably undercooked — closer to rare — and our server didn’t check on us until after my boyfriend had nearly finished eating. At that point, it was too late to correct anything. When I initially ordered the steak, she offered to upsell toppings like butter and mushrooms but never mentioned that sides weren’t included. We decided to wave her down to ask if any sides were included and when we asked, she replied with, “Just my smile.” That comment, combined with the overall dismissive attitude, set the tone for the night. To add to the confusion, the side of asparagus we eventually received was small — about six to eight pieces — which makes me seriously question why the Caesar salad was treated like an unreasonable order. Had the Caesar been entered correctly, I might have overlooked the steak issue, but the repeated lack of attentiveness and dismissive service made the experience frustrating from start to finish. For the premium prices this restaurant charges, guests should receive attentive, professional service and well-prepared food. Unfortunately, neither standard was met. By the end of the evening, I left hungry and disappointed — not exactly the experience you expect after spending that kind of money. Additionally, despite the “upscale” reputation, nearly everyone was dressed casually in jeans. Don’t feel pressured to overdress for dinner.

Oysters were good. The steak was terrible and is something you'd expect from a retirement home. I took one bite and asked the server for the bill. Venue was forgettable. fun if you enjoy staring at walls lol Do yourself a favor and go to London Chop House across the street. The only seasoning this place knows is salt, salt and extra salt. Did I forget salt?
