We enjoyed our dinner and thought the chips and salsa were delicious! The guac was fresh and tasty. Their margaritas and draft beer were on point too. My boyfriend and I will definitely be back next time we are in Elgin.

I am new to working in Elgin. I was driving in downtown and thought I would try this restaurant. I am so glad I did. I ordered the lunch special which includes tea. Everything was seasoned well. It was a lot of food. The relleno was crispy which I liked as opposed to the softer egg batter. They had a hotter salsa which was really good as well. I highly recommend this place. I can't wait to bring my family and friends here.

The salsa was better than almost anywhere that I can get in Houston tho. Mildly spicy and super fresh. Chips made and not from a bag. The fajita burrito was fantastic. Definately will come back on my way through here again

We went there to hear the Shop Dawgs. Music in the Park had gotten rained out so they moved it to El Maguey. It's been a long time since we have been there. They have really freshened up the place! I had the chicken fajita nachos and they were very good. Our server was very attentive and she even made me coffee! Of course the music was awesome as Shopdawgs are one of our favorite bands. They rocked the house!

My friend Maria is always telling me to come eat here. Well we finally went for their valentine's dinner special and it's was fire 🔥 Fajitas for 2 and 3 margaritas is all it took to have a great Valentine's Day This is the only pic I got because we been having fun 😁

The burrito smothered in queso was delicious. The building is old and historical, which is awesome and worth a look, but the decorations are a mix of random things and there was no music so it lacked ambiance which is the only reason I rated the atmosphere as less.

Now I am very picky with my menudo but decided to give it a try & OMG it did not disappoint, I really liked it, very good flavor & the size was perfect. The servers were really nice & friendly. We are definitely going to come back!

We eat here on a semi-regular basis, so I've tried many of their offerings. There isn't anything that I wouldn't recommend. One thing that was unusual today was bringing only two tortillas for my order of fajitas. Yes, I requested and got more, but....2?

Not bad, prices reasonable. Waitress wad pleasant, it was close to end of lunch, theirs end at 3p. I would go again & try another dish.

Great place for breakfast. Right on main street Elgin. However there is an open arch between the bar and restaurant. So if you have a high sensitivity to smoke you might sense it. It really isn't bad.

Service was friendly and food was fast. Only negative was the menu price and actual price was a dollar off, plus, wasn't expecting to pay 2.50 for tea. But nice place. Enjoyed

The tab can add up quickly if you're there to drink, but the food is decent. Ask for the spicy salsa if you want an authentic Mexican experience.

One of Elgin's hidden gems, this restaurant serves truly authentic Mexican food in a traditional setting, at very reasonable prices. Wait staff is very friendly and the service is amazingly fast. Only drawback was that they put beef gravy on the cheese enchiladas, but they immediately replaced them with ones covered in queso.

Good value for the food. Margaritas are very small for the $ but are flavorful. Would have gotten 5 stars if margaritas were larger for the money that is spent for them.

Nice place. Lots of room with large seating areas. Food was tasty, although I only had the chicken tortilla soup. I'm definitely going back to try more of the menu!

Seems like a good place to eat! Everyone seemed to like it. My buddy had the biggest taco I've ever seen he ate the whole thing. It's not over the top but just a good average breakfast

The atmosphere is quintessential Mexican dive and the menu has plenty of delicious sounding offers. The food was pretty good, although I think they could have served it on a less-scorching skillet, as our asada and veggies were burnt and dry by the time we finished. However, the portions and flavor was definitely there...and the salsa was fire!! Loved it. They did a good job on my request for a peach jalapeños margaritas, as well. If we are ever in the area again, I know we will mosey back over there, even though our waitress was pretty forgetful. I would have understood, had it been busy, but we were only one of 3 tables, and the forgetfulness carried through the entire service, from water, to napkins, to the 2nd margaritas. All in all a decent experience in a nice atmosphere.

Pros: fast service, easy parking, good prices, very hospitable (Brie is an excellent server). Cons: food taste is below average

Food was mediocre at best. The guacamole was brown and not fresh. Service was very slow and server did not check on our table near enough. Wanted to like it, but it was just not a good experience.

Two stars for the food being decent. But, I can't go any higher than that, due to all of the smoking in the building. Everything spelled of cigarette smoke. We wanted to give them a chance and powered through the disgusting smell. They definitely need to either not let people smoke inside, or close the doors to that side of the building. We won't be back because of the disgusting cancer smoke.

Ordered a michelada and beef fajitas, unfortunately it was the worst tasting michelada that I have expperience in my life,it just tasted like hot sauce. My food was just ok, the meat was very dry . Also they have a juke box that only plays at the bar, very rarely I find a Mexican restaurant with no music playing. Other than that service was ok.

Black spots on the martini shaker, broken high chairs, no changing tables for infants in the restrooms, food was mid, and the service left a LOT to be desired. Top it all off with someone who thought serving orange juice in a martini was a good idea, and you have yourself a 2 star experience.

Food looks good but I did not try it. They need to update their prices online. I placed a to go order and when I got there they said it was twice the price as it shows online. The manager said she does not have any prices posted online but they do.

I ordered 4 tacos of chorizo Con papas and they gave me hard as papas and as you can see if the pictures had regular Fry’s In side the taco I ordered that because I needed something soft Because I had went to the dentist and I need some soft. So I couldn’t eat it. Also I will nerve go back to this place

Sorry guys but 2019 smoking in a restaurant... I covered smoking patio a separate completely isolated from air conditioning and doorways section. To have the smoking area completely open with the kitchen... I'm sorry but I don't want any cigarette Ash in my food.

Food is always good but the service is always bad. I know it's not the servers fault it's bad management. Knowing its Friday night, mostly payday for everyone and they only keep to servers on staff. Right now this place is 4 table short of being full it's 8pm and only two servers as always. Now we know why Morellias is always busy.

I LOVE Mexican food and have never been to a restaurant that served bad Mexican food until now. The quesqueso seemed like cheap powder cheese mix , salsa wasn't very good, chicken in my burrito was super dry. Would never go hear again nor recommend it.

Absolutely the worst food ever. The "fajitas"were made from round steak, had no flavor to them except for the grilled onions. Tortillas were like dough. My husband's enchiladas were cold and our friend's dish was also terrible. Will not be back!

I only had a house margarita and chips and queso. The margarita had too much sweet and sour. The queso was very bland and just tasted like processed cheese... I've honestly never had worse queso at a Mexican restaurant.

Waitress saw us, acknowledged us, forgot about us, we had to get our own menus, then we left after 20 minutes of no service. They just lost some regular customers tonight!

The beans always taste either burnt or expired. I have given this place a try at least 4 times over the year, I have not found anything I like there. Yuck! Horrible customer service!

The food was mid. She stood talking for 12 minutes 8' away from us a we waited for her to go get our ticket. And she was not talking to a customer. And if I had to write something like this, well that means this was not good at all.
