Absolutely amazing. I took my friend for her birthday. We had the cheese tray, the house salad which had mandarin oranges with French vinaigrette, the Cesar had fresh anchovies the the creamiest Cesar dressing. We had the grilled ribeye and the grilled lamb chips with garlic mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Sublime. We had a great visit with the owner Elizabeth. This place is a must and is worth the drive from Austin to Flatonia.
This restaurant is exceptional! Our waitress was charming and was well versed on the wine list. Our food was delicious and rivaled anything we have grown accustomed to in Dallas. It made us feel like we were in Europe!
We were visiting family in Flatonia and returned to The Red Vault several times as the food was incredible. Lunch: For appetizers we ordered bruschetta and a caprese salad. The tomatoes were fresh and tasty, and the mozzarella was authentic. I ordered the steak burger medium rare. It honestly was one of the best burgers I've ever had. It was juicy, came on a croissant bun with gouda cheese, avocado, lettuce & tomato and a side of fries. The fried chicken was full of flavor and had plenty of meat on the bones. Dinner: My boyfriend ordered the grilled lamb. It was well worth the price. It was full of flavor, served with a garlic basil butter, a side of mashed potatoes and veggies. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass. It came with a delicious sauce that didn't overpower it's soft texture and great taste. Dessert: Slice of dark chocolate cake with raspberry sauce and a lava cake. Both were amazing but the dark chocolate cake was my favorite, especially when paired with a red wine. They have an astounding selection of wines. If you're not sure of what to get, the owner Gabriel is a sommelier who can make a suggestion. They also have a good variety of beers. We can’t wait to be back next year!
truly an amazing and welcoming experience the owners really care about their guests and the food is amazing!
Wow! What an awesome meal. The lobster bisque was the best I've ever had and my beef filet was so perfectly prepared with a very yummy gorgonzola sauce on the side. Pair up with. Great wine and friendly service too!
We ended up here by chance on our anniversary. It was Asian night and the chef had great sushi rolls (Dragon & Califonia rolls) and tempura. We also tried their Vegetable Spring rolls, which are also great. We splurged a but and shared several plates to try them. Price will depend on night and entrees, but their online menus has prices.
I liked the name of the restaurant so we decided to give it a try. The food was excellent and so was the service. My ribeye was cooked exactly like I asked (medium, just because I was worried medium rare might come out rare since I’ve never been here before). My wife had the Chilean sea bass and she loved it. The bread was hot and fresh and the tea was good (one of the things I measure a restaurant by). This place used to be a bank at some point in history and now the vault is their wine cellar. Would definitely eat here again if I return to this town.
Just stopped on the way to Houston, Awesome place! Salads were delicious, crab cakes, awesome. We had the chicken cordon blue and it was really nice. The bread was off the charts! I took awful pictures but I tried. You should check this place out if you get the chance.
Fantastic evening for dinner out. Wonderful food, great atmosphere..quite the hidden gem. Bruschetta was nice, the crab cakes were probably the best I've eaten ever. The chicken marsala , the salmon, and the ribeye were all very savory. Salads and vegetables were extremely fresh. We made room to share a piece of their lemon cake and it was the perfect finshing touch. It's a great place for special special occasions or just the well needed date night. Update. Same.great.di ing experience on Valentine's Day. It was a full house, but the salmon was fantastic and the crab cakes were as amazing as my first encounter.

Traveling cross country in an RV strong winds forced us to abandon the highway and search for food. What a SURPRISE, the Red Vault Bistro in little bitty Flatonia Texas has food worth being a destination regardless of where you live. Enjoy!
Wow, what a wonderful stroke of luck that we ended up at Red Vault Bistro on our drive from NOLA to San Antonio. On the spur of the moment, we decided we were too hungry to wait until San Antonio for dinner so we looked for somewhere close to where we were on the highway. We saw the great reviews and ratings of this place that was only 10 minutes away. We hit the jackpot. The food was fabulous, the service was awesome, the environment was very nice and the prices were super reasonable. If you’re ever near Flatonia, check this place out!
Such an elegant place to eat! Perfect place for an intimate dinner for two. The wine was superb. The food - amazing! This place is so romantic. We actually drove from Victoria (about an hour and 20 minutes drive) to have dinner here. It was well worth the drive.
We stopped here on on way home from Waelder. I’ve been coming to Flatonia my whole life but never knew Red Vault Bistro has been around since 2011! Service wasn’t service at all but was like being welcomed into someone’s home. Elizabeth was incredibly kind, gracious, and catering. The food was incredible. I think it qualifies as a great meal- one that can compete with other high calibre restaurants. If you’re looking for a great meal, with a warm atmosphere, this is your place.
Great food, desserts, & service. Had lunch (salads and burgers and lemon cake). Place was very clean. Music was soothing and inviting. Overall amazing place to stop by if you are going through this town. We are definitely hooked. Even my young teen enjoyed her salad and loved the cake.
This is one of the BEST kept secrets in central Texas ! Food and service has always been fantastic! The lobster bisque and caesar salad are the BEST anywhere! The smoked ribeye is my favorite! Thank you for feeding my family so well!
Our filet and sea bass dishes were both five star quality. Fantastic salads and deserts as well. Could not have asked for more hospitable service. The Red Vault will certainly become a regular stop for dining.
This quaint stone building on Main Street is all the things!! The food is delicious, the service is personal and low key. The butter pecan cake , they call it” the bomb” is one of the most delicious desserts we have ever eaten!! 5 stars all the way!

Very cozy & quite little bistro with some nice wines to enjoy next to the fireplace on a plush couch. The chef in full attire, came out and introduced himself, then came back to make sure we were enjoying our meal. Not a large selection of food on the lunch menu (could be a rotating menu, only been once) but everything was prepared exquisitely.

Ordered to go...food was delicious and lady working was wonderful. I got a bottle of wine, had it opened to go, was charged $106 dollars for a wine I found at the local gas station for $40. A little upset but I will keep that in mind for next time. Otherwise, great place.

Very good food, wine excellent, and service. Very quaint atmosphere. We would go again.
I stopped here looking for an interesting place to eat. Menu looked good. Great wine list. When I got here there were lots of open tables and was seated quickly. 2 groups of locals came in right after me and were seated about the same time. their orders were taken and their drinks arrived. I was told 3 times she would be right with me. I was alone. So since I still had an hour of driving I had to leave and settle for fast food. Disappointing. It looked like such a quaint place.
Had 730 reservations. We weren't acknowledged until 750. Food was completely overrated for the price. Service was mediocre at best. No beer. Find somewhere else to go.
