Good food great price. Dont like new location though.
Excellent quality and portion size. Ordered the buffalo burrito 🌯, enchilada style. Flavorful and hearty. Good choice.
The food is always delicious! The service is always fast and polite. The atmosphere and bathroom are both very clean.
Food is always great. I highly recommend the chorizo burrito. No credit cards so bring cash. If not, ATM is on site.
Great place to eat. Employees are very polite and efficient. If you like Mexican food this is the place to go to.
I love the food here. My go to dish is the buffalo shrimp burrito. I am a huge fan of the nachos as well
Delicious and fresh. Been going for years and never an issue. And staff is always friendly. Cash only. ATM inside just in case.
What a great dining experience! I enjoyed the Buffalo Chicken Burrito, Chicken quesadilla, fresh guacamole and of course with Gonzo sauce on everything!!! Thank you ~ XO !!

Awesome tacos, will be going to this spot regularly.
Best Barittos none of the other joints even come close!!! Worth the trip no matter where you live!!!?
Been going there for over 10 years. Great food. Try the buffalo burrito
Good place to dinner. Tasty food and excellent attention. Staff very kind. I recommend it.
Delicious and huge portions you get your money's worth and filled up.
Staff is awesome and caring, Joe the owner is awesome and treats you like family, food is the best always fresh and not greasy, very home made, it’s a feel good place to go to! Customer for life!
We've been going here for a while. Food is excellent. We've never been disappointed. Minor quibble is with the cash only policy. Also, we miss the Salsa Bar.
By far the best and most authentic Mexican food in the Garden City area! No other local Mexican spot compares to this place. Extremely friendly people, fast, and the owner is an awesome guy.
Gonzo's food was great and the service was just as equal. My waiter Dawson made sure i had everything i needed and was very helpful to me for it being my first time eating there.
I simply liked their dishes. I always get fantastic service there. The place is clean and the employees are always very welcoming. Would recommend to others.
Amazing fresh Mexican food. Must pay with cash but they have an atm there. We have been going for years and quality and service is great
We had a great experience. The staff was friendly. The food was very fresh and tasty.I would say the best Mexican food we had in a long time. Not too salty. We ordered the epanadas, beef burrito and vegetable Quesedilla. All the sauces were awesome! The green sauce especially was very refreshing..We will be back again.
If you call ahead they always have the order ready in less than ten minutes. Everything is always fresh. The staff is friendly. There is not much better than the buffalo chicken burrito. Out of this world. The gonzo sauce makes everything better. Sweet with a kick.
Great food. Recently introduced to this place I got the loco Joe burrito. It was perfect. The rice was well cooked, the guac was perfectly balanced with the rest of the ingredients. I have also had the steak quesadilla and it was delicious as well. Looking forward to trying the tacos. They are cash only. There is an atm inside
Absolutely the best establishment ive ever been to. The owner is one of the kindest people ive ever met. He is very involved and gets to know his customers. Not only is the staff amazing but it is truly the best Mexican food on Long Island. I live in Georgia now and my first stop every time I land in New York is Gonzos. 10/10
We had Gonzo's Grill cater my sister's bridal shower on Aug 4, 2018. Joe, the owner, was beyond helpful in helping me plan the entire meal. He was upfront the whole time and really only suggested things that would work for our party. The staff was always friendly and helpful everytime I called. I can't do justice in describing how amazing the food was! Everyone loved it! I definitely recommend using them for your next event!
I have gotten the Loco Joe Burrito and chicken quesadillas. The Food has always been good. Few things wish they could deliver, stay open longer and accept credit/debit cards. I do recommend eating there.
Been here dozens of times and ordered many different things and they have never disappointed. Food is delicious and the staff are always friendly. One of my favorite spots.
Shrimp burrito is the best! , today was exceptionally delicious !. fresh grilled shrimp tasted like I just took it of the grill . Took it home and ate by my window . comforting food during a world pandemic. Thank you front line workers.
The food is excellent!! We drive over an hour to enjoy a fabulous meal!! Highly recommend everything they prepare is fresh and absolutely delicious!!
absolutely amazing as usual! The owner joe always going above and beyond and pumping out the best Mexican food on Long Island!
You must try the home .ade Empanadas omg its perfect delicious!!! I had the shrimp & chicken Empanadas!!! I heard thier Tacos are amazing!!
For the last few months, Gonzo's Mexican Grill, located in Franklin Square, has been my "go to" place where I have ordered meals that are beyond great. My favorites are the "Gonzo's Burrito" and the "Local Joe Burrito," named after proprietor, Joseph Gonzalez. The meals are hot, fresh, and zesty. With chips and Salsa Verde to complement these meals, "Gonzo's" is Mexican cuisine at its finest. ____________________ Following up with a review I posted a few months ago. Tonight, I ordered Chicken Fajitas from Gonzo's and – again – this meal was nothing short of spectacular! Thank you, Joseph Gonzalez and staff – for a great meal. ____________________ I ordered the Chicken Fajitas (again) tonight, and - (again) - this meal was delicious. Thanks, again, Joseph Gonzalez and staff.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I discovered Gonzo’s Mexican Grill in Garden City, NY through Facebook, and out of all the restaurants I came across, this one immediately stood out — and it did not disappoint! From the moment I walked in, the owner personally greeted me with a warm welcome and engaging conversation, setting the tone for an amazing experience. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the food? Absolutely scrumptious. The wings were meaty, full of flavor, and so good they didn’t even need sauce. The burrito, made with their special wing sauce, was hearty, flavorful, and downright addictive. Even the drink was perfectly cold and refreshing — just the right amount. This place gets a 10 out of 10 from me. I’ll definitely be back and plan to bring family and friends next time. Totally worth the visit!
Gonzo’s is a great neighborhood place; the food isn’t greasy, sauces are good. The owner is very kind and friendly. Love coming here.
Awesome mexican restaurant.Great food !!!! I tried the grilled shrimp burrito, and it was delicious. Good service, reasonable prices, but a small restaurant and can fill up quickly. Parking is a little tough if you go around lunchtime. Definitely give it a try if you have never been !!!
I got a shrimp burrito and it was amazing. Fresh guacamole and seasoned nice. Shrimp nachos was good it I would suggest a little more cheese. I didn’t read ingredients and it had black olives that I don’t like that much, but that’s on me. Beans could be better “a little bland” Reading the most recent reviews I’m VERY SHOCKED. I guess everyone has to try on their own 😅
We ordered for a large party and the food was perfect! Definitely a complicated order and they paid close attention to the different requests. The owner gave surprised us with an order of nachos and other salsas! Amazing staff too!
Great food at good prices. Great soups. Ask which they have that day. I love the the shrimp corn chowder. We've been coming here for years at their old location and this new one a few blocks north. Order by phone and it's usually ready for pick up in ten minutes. Cash only but they have an ATM and a clean bathroom. They recently got a liquor license.
Something about Gonzo's is just so good. Price is just a little high for burritos.
Food is good. Nice spot. Cash only though.
Great food. Not great hours or variety.
My family loves this place. Everything we have tried is delicious, and fresh.
I would give it 5 stars but the only thing I ever eat here is the Buffalo Burrito (which has nothing to do with buffalo chicken or buffalo anything for that matter) which is absolutely delicious but I don't know if everything else is as good.
Great food. They give you a good amount of food for the value. The only bad thing is that they do not accept credit cards.
Decided to go with my daughter's and was pleased mostly take out But there were places to dine in Cash only no credit card Food is worth it
Shrimp nachos are great. One star off because they only take cash
I been going to this place for years. The quality of the food is amazing. However, I only gave 4 star’s for lack of accepting credit cards in 2020. Not to mention it is a cleaner way of doing transactions with everything going on at this time with the spread of COVID19.
Brimstone here for the Food Hounds, bringing yet another Tidbit of delicious knowledge to your attention! From now on... when I hear or see the term, "Eat at Joe's" -- I'll be thinking of Joe from over at Gonzo's Mexican Grill. This cozy little place has been a mainstay on Long Island for over ten years and I can honestly say that there's truth in things getting better with age. The restaurant itself is located on a main street which makes parking a little bit of an issue; however we found the the food was well worth the 1/2 block walk. Let me start by saying that Gonzo's has a REALLY cool vibe; one wall is adorned with photos of the owner with a variety of different celebrities (including Albert Einstein - they are all doctored), which adds to the uniqueness of Gonzo's. Joe literally has a phenomenal sense of humor and passion for what he does which adds to the appeal of dining here. We started off with an array of different goodies that were bursting with flavor! The Guacamole was made fresh for us on the spot and was served with three different salsas and chips. We had fantastic tostones which were lightly seasoned and were still a little moist in the middle (I REALLY enjoyed them and I normally do not). I was given a winning mixture of Guac and Mayo (I think was called Mayomole) that was full of flavor and was unreal on the steak and chicken Empanadas. We had a Mexican Rice Ball that was reminiscent of the Italian version, except it was stuffed with black beans and drizzled with a tasty blend of cheeses and a delicate sauce that was very good; but paled in comparison to the Gonzo's Mac & Cheese (with chorizo and other nummies mixed in) and the Gonzo's Chili which was nicely spiced and didn't disappoint. Next thing on the menu for us was their award winning Gonzo's Wings... Oh damn. I've got to tell you how unbelievably fantasmic the wing sauce and wings themselves were. The wings were fried to crispy perfection and lightly glazed with sauce boasting a spicy-kick and an overall sweet taste. Followed up for the WIN by the Buffalo Burrito which is honored by the presence of the aforementioned sauce, breaded chicken breast, Mexican rice, mozzarella and bleu cheese. This burrito was simply orgasmic... literally shocked me how kick-a$$ it actually was. I'd absolutely order it again and again... and again! We had the Grilled Shrimp Salad with blackened and grilled shrimp (the portion was very generous) and then a couple of the featured Quesadillas. The BBQ Steak Quesadilla was off the hook and included fat trimmed bbq'd flank steak, sliced avocado (very generous with all the dishes containing avocado) and Cheddar cheese. Served with sour cream, this baby was the real-deal. We also had the Cabo Wabo Quesadilla with grilled chicken, sauteed mushrooms, onions and peppers, melted jack and Cheddar cheeses, lightly seasoned with breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese... and BACON! Bacon, bacon and MORE bacon! Last but certainly NOT least, we had the Tres Leches Cake which is apparently soaked in three different milks and covered in white cream topping. The perfect end to a perfect meal. All in all, we really loved this place and everything that went along with it. All the food is low fat, healthy and prepared fresh daily. Everything is relatively inexpensive and you truly get a lot for your cash as everything on the menu is between $6.50 - $7.50. If I was you... I would make this a regular stop in your catalog of great places to dine.
Food was fresh and delicious. Would have given 5 stars but they only accept cash. They have one of those "janky" ATMs there that I hate to use. So before you go and you should go; get some cash!
Excellent food, great service and reasonably priced. Just wish they took debit cards or I would give it 5 stars and visit more often.
I liked the shrimp burrito I ate. The place looked clean. The staff was nice. Will go back and try this restaurant some more.
Great place to grab lunch or dinner. You can order ahead of time and pick up your order in the restaurant. There is also seating inside to eat there. I'm taking off one star for two minor reasons. First, it only takes cash. Second, although the good has always been good, sometimes it's less fresh than other times. But don't let that stop you from coming here. The only place on long Island that I've been to thus far that has a Buffalo shrimp burrito.
Food is very fresh, place is clean. The owner greets you from the back and is a nice guy. However, it is very bland, no kick, not Mexican at all. Staff at the counter needs to smile, there doing there job very well, but please Smile.
Their food does taste authentic but not the best. Their guac is pretty tasty. I had a shrimp taco and wasbt really wowed. Will definitely return to try other dishes.
It’s a nice cozy place that knows how to make burritos well! I enjoyed how they cater to how you like your food. Great for dining alone and small groups. I would highly recommend!
Pretty much every time I think of placing an order, I realize they are closed because they close ridiculously early for a food establishment.
Good food but very rude staff especially the girls they don't even look at your face when talking they have 0 customer service
Food was very bland. Disappointing. Quesadillas had almost no flavor.
Food is good.... however i really dislike there CASH ONLY POLICY...They should charge a 2-3 % upcharge if they must for credit cards. Like SOME gas stations do & give a little off for cash.. 🤨😒🙄
Cheap but not really tasty and really dry..
Chicken fajita salad was not grilled chicken fajita at all! Definately not Mexican food, except for the salsa.
Although the food is fresh, there is no taste. I ordered a couple of types of burritos and neither the rice or the vegetables were seasoned. It tasted like steamed vegetables. The tostada salad was mostly lettuce with some vegetables on top . No rice, beans or barely any pico de gallo in it.. I asked for the hottest sauce they had and I was given "tobasco" sauce. If you want authentic taste this is not the place for you.
Drove 2 hrs from NJ to treat my sister in law who was visiting. Google said the restaurant would be closing at 9pm. We arrived on September 11th 7:56pm. Only to have 3 employees yell from the counter “CLOSED”. No one approached the door to let me clarify the hours of operation or to just simply say “I’m sorry but we are close”. I felt embarrassed that I had hyped this place up so much. I’d been coming here since early 2000’s when they had the Mineola location. I’d walk on my lunch break from Commerce / TD Bank. I even put up with the “no debit/ credit card” rule which is super annoying. Note to staff: Next time just be a little more warm to your long time supporters. Even if you don’t know them by face or name.
So went to Gonzos Grill on Nassau Blvd. Will never go again ordered 93.00 in food and asked for a bigger container so as to not need to fill 10 small ones with the to go sauce and they wanted to charge me.. makes perfect sense to use 10 small rather then give 3 medium... Very cost effective. Green sauce ran out so asked for more and was told they ran out for now.
Nothing special. Theirs sauces are weak in flavor and one sauce tasted like ketchup. The chicken and steak tacos were filled with dry steak and chicken and the tortillas were dry and on the stale side. The empanda was the most disappointing. Overcooked meat and tastes stale also. I wouldnt try anything else. If they cant get their sauce and tacos right it's a poor excuse of a mexican restaurant.
Good food, but what's the point of being open till a certain time if you're not going to serve? Staff is def not the friendliest and theres only 1 reason they're hired Also..cash only is super shady. With your prices you can definitely afford a credit card machine
this is the Mexican food you get when you don't want real Mexican food. food is horrible no taste no hot sauce guacamole is terrible idk how this place stays in business with literally 3 tacos and 5 burritos to choose from step up your game or close down cause horrible job you are doing.
I really wanted to like this place. Always looking for new spots somewhat locally. The manager was SUPER friendly. Maybe the only reason I didn’t drive back and return the food. I also believe they closed at 8pm on a Saturday night which is odd, so it might have been too late anyways. Ordered a couple different quesadillas and I’m pretty positive there was no cheese in them. Mine had weird cubed steak, some strange sauce, and a random large slice of avocado. The chicken in the chicken taco was like boiled maybe? Definitely not grilled and no flavor at all. My wife did enjoy her burrito so maybe that went well. The rice that came with the quesadilla was strange and dry and nothing authentic. This is the worst food I’ve ever gotten from a restaurant. I’ve had better food at airports. I’ve gotten better tacos upstate at an American food restaurant. Just really strange. The restaurant is also cash only so that sort of adds to the mystery of this place. It’s just too bad because the place was clean and the employees very friendly.
Ordered soup and dish taco. Asked them , that I want hot meal. 10 min later, soup was ok, hot enough, but rice, meat, beans were barely warm. Had to heated up. Is no big deal, but shows disregard of customers, not only and sanitary requirements.
Cash only. While I appreciate the freshness of the food, it had to be the blandest Mexican food I've ever eaten. I got the "blackened" chicken fajita burrito, the chicken was as white as the rice. Under salted, heavily under seasoned, if I didn't add hot sauce there would've been no flavor at all.
The workers are very nice. However, the prices were a bit high. The food wasn’t all that good. I don’t know what the big hype is about the place. The guacamole has an after taste. I tried gonzos a few years ago and didn’t like it. I thought maybe I got the wrong thing or something. A few years later I tried it again and I wasn’t impressed. I had way better Mexican than this. I got the nachos and two fish tacos. The nachos had way too many olives which took over the flavoring. Barely any beans or cheese on it. I also paid extra for gonzo sauce which was horrible tasting in my opinion. The fish was the only thing I enjoyed. They could’ve at least provided me with salsa and sour cream, but of course you have to pay extra probably even though I spent a fortune on the food. I know fish is more expensive but the nachos without fish was expensive. They only had the gonzo sauce to choose from. I’m disappointed. I thought it would be good after seeing all the reviews.
0 seasoning on any of the food. I’ve cooked better quesadillas with a .99 cent taco seasoning packet from the grocery store.
As a hispana, this food was whack. I would give it zero stars if I could. I would like to donate them a box of seasoning. FOH
Terrible. Food had no flavor. Guacamole was awful. Definitely won't be back.
I just picked up my food and it was ice cold!! I asked for blackened chicken on my nachos salad and they gave me regular grilled chicken also ice cold!!! Never again will I be ordering from there!
Chicken I was served in a quesadilla was absolutely a few days old- tasted stale. Gross.
Any place that purposefully messes/tampers with a persons food should and deserves to be shut down. Zero stars. Even if what was said was “just a joke” - not funny. If judging based solely on food, it’d be a two or three star - bland boring food, lacking flavor, prepared and presented poorly. There are so many other places that do it better. One and done, not getting a second visit due to kitchen conversations.
I don't get it. I have had Mexican revenge twice and the wrong order 3 times. They ran out of ...salsa ? last saturday night at 7pm. Really?? $1.50 for 30 cents worth of chips( well they are good chips). Anyway ,If the owner took his head out of his magic hat with... here a shop there a shop. I used to go to his dad's magic store. Maybe he should try that.
Not sure of everyone’s Mexican food expectations, but the food Is very disturbing for a Spanish person to eat. Not authentic I think they cooked the ground beef with butter, lacked a lot of what a true Mexican beef burrito should Have in it. So bad I asked For my money back after The first bite.
Terrible!!!. Boiled plain rice is not Mexican rice. Check your empanadas daily. My beef empanada smelled so bad I'm sure it was old. First and last time customer.
Got a Buffalo burrito. NO BUFFALO. I don’t understand. The gonzo sauce is horrible and the food is so bland. This is my second time giving it a chance and this time was the last.
Horrible food with no seasoning. Please explain how this is a Mexican restaurant? Beans taste like they came straight out the can and on to my plate.
This place does Not except anything but cash payment I ordered 2 orders of Nachos 1 with chicken and 1 without and specifically asked the guy who took my order if the chicken is shredded and warm , He said yes and was confident that they make it fresh like normal Mexican restaurants . They not only gave me Uncooked cold chicken chunks on top of the nachos which was Nasty 🤮 , in addition the nachos were stale , everything was cold like was taken out straight from the fridge instead of the oven , beans were super dry . Disgusted by this place. I wish I can give them No stars !!:(
This place used to be good but it went downhill big time. The burritos are bland as can be, the fish tacos are 99% batter and 1% measly fish. Their steak is literally rubber and horrible and the chips are loaded with sodium. I will never be returning here again !
Got a chicken salad. Was basically inedible. They put some gross sauce on it that tasted terrible. Veggies did not taste fresh and chicken had a nasty flavor. Go someone else if you are looking for real Mexican food.
Worst tacos I ever had in my life. I never thought it would be possible. One of the tacos I ordered was steak. It looked more like, cubed roast beef, and it was incandescent with absolutely no flavor the queso was paste. I had a better taco in high school, and can certainly make better food with my eyes closed at my house using a microwave . I will not be returning to this restaurant.
I just got home and open the food bag, what a disappointment. The enchiladas no meat only cheese, the burrito no meat, only rise and beans😡 you don’t need a cook for that horrible food, you can buy frozen food is cheaper and the same quality. Never back to this place! I ordered one thing and they put in the bag something else.
