Absolutely sensational! They deserve a Michelin Star this year in the guide. Our female server was just amazing - friendly and knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. We loved watching the kitchen from the chefs table preparing our tasting menu. The masala curry tacos were an absolute delight! Wine and spirit pairing was perfect too. We had a very special evening at Alcalde - thanks to the whole team.

Came here for the 10 course tasting menu. We were quite impressed. All the dishes were strong, with a few outstanding (particularly the truffle dessert). The flavors were bold and a bit unconventional at times - make sure you are OK eating some insects. Overall, a great and worthy experience. Would definitely recommend.

Eating here was a lovely experience on a beautiful day. The squash root appetizer, lechon and rice pudding were the standouts. Beautifully plated, well composed dishes with excellent flavours. Everything was just really well cooked, fresh and hearty. The sangria cocktails were beautiful. Service was attentive. Absolutely wonderful meal at reasonable prices.

Very good food. Went as a business meal and was very impressed with the simple, straight forward menu. Not a ton of vegan options but the chef made a couple selections that were great. Enjoyed the local craft beer too. Would definitely return and try more appetizers. Kitchen was clean and wide open. Loved that. Wait staff spoke perfect English. Very helpful.

In general over rated. A few options to remember but not worth the hype. El arroz really good. El pulpo missing something. The new corderotartar way too salty. Good drinks. Service a bit too much. The view of the kitchen really nice

We went to Alcalde for my birthday. Upon arrival, the hostess didn’t greet us, I had to initiate the conversation and let her know I had a reservation. For a high end restaurant like this, I expected a warmer, more attentive welcome. The meal itself was definitely unique, with beautifully presented and delicious dishes, some more memorable than others. Sitting at the counter was an interesting experience, as we could watch the kitchen in action and see the cooking staff at work. Our main waiter was attentive, and a few other servers, who were even more charismatic, brought out some of our dishes and added to the experience. I can understand why some negative reviews point out that a few dishes are just “okay,” but there are also standouts that make the menu worth trying. Overall, it was a special dining experience, the ambience was just ok.

Tasting menu at the chef's table was a great experience and I thoroughly enjoyed being able to watch all of the beautiful food come together in the kitchen. The vibes were great and the food wasn't bad. Definitely had some very unique flavors and delicious bites throughout the tasting menu. All of the dishes were visually stunning. The wine pairing left something to be desired though. The pours were quite light, and they reused the same wine for consecutive courses and a couple occasions which was a little disappointing.

I had the pleasure of dining at Ojo in Bangkok during the summer of 2024, and the experience was truly world-class—the food, service, atmosphere, and location all came together flawlessly. Later, in October 2024, I visited Alcalde in Guadalajara for the first time and tried the tasting menu. While the presentation and service were excellent, I found the food to be overly experimental and, frankly, not enjoyable. I gave Alcalde another chance in August 2025, this time ordering à la carte. Once again, the presentation and service were formidable, but the food itself was disappointing—too salty, too “out there,” and ultimately barely edible. Although I initially felt the food merited only one star, it’s clear the team is highly dedicated and puts real effort into presentation and sourcing. For that reason, I’ve chosen to give a more neutral three stars overall. It’s also possible that my palate simply doesn’t align with Alcalde’s culinary vision.

Overall experience was good, but for the prices you would have expected better service. It was a birthday celebration (informed on the booking and at arrival) and they did not acknowledge at all that fact. Not even a simple happy birthday :( Few dishes were very good, but some pretty standard. We were waiting outside in the bench (restaurant looked closed) but nobody from the staff came to welcome us. Recently went to Xokol and that was absolutely fantastic and half the price. So definitely way better options for what you are paying.

I’m extremely disappointed by the service. I’m allergic to peanuts and before ordering we asked the waiter which dishes on the menu did not contain any. One of the dishes we ordered which he told us had no peanuts, had some. Luckily, when the chef came to present the dish, I asked her if there were peanuts and she told me there were. I mentioned my allergy beforehand when reserving as well as to all staff members we interacted with during the service. I expected better from a restaurant of this level. This error from the waiter could have costed me my life or at least a trip to the hospital.
