Always delicious -- and we go there a lot. I've never had a meal here that I didn't love. Try the clam chowder (possibly the best I've ever had), the linguine with clams, the beef and broccoli, and I could go on. Staff are super friendly!
Love this place! This space used to be known as a somewhat cursed restaurant spot. But so happy the owners turned the curse around. The menu is small but amazing. The lobster roll, bread, oysters and tuna burgers are some of the freshest I’ve tasted. You really feel like you’re in a montauk-like seafood shack. Homey and kid friendly, and great happy hour.
Pricey but absolutely delicious. Funny thing is what I remember about the place was their yummy dumplings. It's a family recipe and I highly recommend. I also recommend eating it with small amounts of vinegar or Tabasco ;) you won't regret it unless you hate mushroom or pork.
Great place. I had the crab cake and my wife had the fish sandwich. Both were delicious The key lime dessert and sundae were also very tasty. Looking forward too going back and trying out everything else on the menu.
Always a yummy bite, always great service. We drift into here as a family every few weeks and get clam chowder, kale Caesar, calamari, burger, fish and chips, etc. Everything is off the hook. Their key lime parfait is the reel legend.
Great to see someone bring a proper oyster bar to NY. They are few and far between here. Oysters were fresh and tasted like the ocean, unlike what you get at most restaurants in and around the City. Lobster roll is up there with any I've had. Their take on NE clam chowder was wonderful; where most restaurants nowadays serve a bowl of cream with some potatoes and clams, this dish was more akin to how people used to make it (a clam broth playing the starring with only a bit of cream added and the heartiness coming from the vegetables and clams). Was pleasantly and unexpectedly surprised by the house specialty bread served with lobster butter. Don't usually like "lobster-flavored" food, but this tasted like the buttery end of a lobster roll. Hard not to love. Great beer menu and cocktails, too.
I woke up Saturday morning craving a lobster roll. I didn't want to travel to New England so I google searched the closest place to me. I couldn't have been happier to have found Bread & Brine. The food and service was Excellent! To my surprise they also had my second favorite. "STEAMERS" OMG. THE SIZES WERE OUTSTANDING AND OF COURSE DELICIOUS. Our new go to restaurant within a cute town and lovely drive
This place is one of my favorites to go to have vegeterian rice bowl (really good) and golden onion rings (must have). My husband loves the salt box burger plus the beers are nice and cold. Its casual, its really good and their food is awesome.
This was my first time taking out from this restaurant. The calamari was one of the best I've had. The clam chowder was also delicious. The staff was courteous and took steps to make sure that my order was prepared with care.
as a oyster lover i love coming to this restaurant! kids also happen to like their butter sauce pasta so it's a win win for everyone. wait staffs are friendly and helpful. oh, and the happy hour rate for drinks and oysters are great deal!
We got grilled fish tacos, lobster roll and fish & chip. Fish & chip is definitely the star.
We’ve been here twice over the last 6 months (we live 30min away) and food/service have been wonderful. They have their standard menu along with a pretty good list of specials. In addition to their standard shellfish dishes, you’ll always find at least one fish special. Fish was grilled perfectly each time. Note: they also have non-seafood dishes which were also great.
Had an amazing evening yesterday with my friend. Tasty drinks and great food!!! The pasta 10/10 the lobster roll 10/10 the spicy margs 10/10 and special shoutout to our cool waiter Ford!! We love you Ford! Will deff be back again with my friends and family. Such a cute place!
We had an amazingly Mother’s Day brunch. Love the street corn, Brussels sprouts were very yummy. The fare with egg was very good. The Lobster roll was spot on.
Amazing experience! The food... OMG! The food! Every single thing I ordered was amazing! Cooked to perfection and extremely tasty. The vibe was laid back and the music was good. There were so many options to choose from it took 30 minutes for me to figure out what to get. We decided to share a few meals and they were all on point 👌🏾 The drinks were also spot on! The service was a bit slow but, I attribute that to my lack of not knowing exactly what I wanted. I highly recommend this establishment and if you are open to sharing, do it so you can try multiple items on the menu. I'll definitely be back!
So thrilled to have a real oyster bar right in our backyard. Top quality oysters, seafood and more. The entire menu is thoughtfully planned and executed making this an easy go-to for my family. The atmosphere is lively and energetic and the service is spot-on. I’ve come here on many occasions with family and friends and it’s always been a hit. Good job.
Loved the New England-inspired menu. Lots of fresh fish and seafood. Tried a whole bunch of small plates and oysters. We got the clam chowder and Lobster French onion soup, both of which were amazing and uniquely prepared. If you're not a seafood guy, the chicken wings were crisp and tasty. The decor is comfortably fancy and modern. Great beer and cocktail menu as well.
I love this gem! It feels like New England in Hastings. (think Maine or Cape Cod). It's a seafood place so not many options for vegans (if you are listening, it would be great to have a vegan entree to choose from!) but we love their Brussel sprouts and the cocktails are great. For now, it's a happy hour/before dinner place for us!
If you like lobster in many forms this is the place to go. Very tasty in a casual environment
Love this place! Im not usually into fried seafood, but this place did it! Their shrimp basket is so freaking good! They have great oysters! Tons of seafood - The lobster roll is a must-have! Happy hour is great! They have a tv at the bar! And the staff are super friendly! Their drinks are unique and excellent beer selection! Love this spot it is a super chill atmosphere!
Always delicious. The fish sandwich, rice bowl and dumplings are favorites.
Didn't make a reservation but we were seated in about 20 mins. Couldn't figure out what to get because everything sounded delicious. It's a cute place that merges a bar and shack like restaurant. Definitely have to return to try the other items!
Wow. Where do I begin? The staff is phenomenal. Kristen is a gift from the stars (yell at me if I misspelled her name). Every drink and food item is phenomenal. These folks genuinely care about what they are doing and their community. 15/10. See you on Saturday!
I love coming to B&B if I want I delicious but sometimes simple seafood meal. The drinks are always made to perfection and the food is always a constant good, and the oysters are always fresh The service is top notch. The town is beautiful with lots of shops to peruse. You'll walk away feeling full and happy!
Seafood was very fresh and they have great happy hour specials.
Both a neighborhood pub and a night out. Loved their fish and not fish menu items. Outdoor seating available. It gets a little loud on weekends.
This is a must try place. Outstanding food and excellent, friendly service. Great place to go for sports games especially NY Knicks playoffs! All kinds of treats for Knicks fans and a great atmosphere! Cheers!
Came with mom, dad, husband and baby- service was great, this is a really friendly place and everyone on the staff is energetic and lovely. The restaurant is fun and clean, the food is OUTSTANDING, 10/10 from my whole fam (just say yes to the oysters, you won't regret it).
Always delicious food. The oysters are fresh and served on a tray of ice. We had the dumplings (delicious), Chicken wings (well cooked and spicy) Stuffers (stuffed clams, executed perfect), old bay fries were great, the steamed rice with tuna poke was also delicious. Service has changed with the times but always friendly. I always enjoy going back and I look forward to my next meal.
Some of the best most consistent food in the area! I’ve never been disappointed by bread and brine. The staff are also awesome and make it fun as well as delicious.
Lived up to the hype. Awesome food, relaxing outdoor space, great wait staff. Would highly recommend if you are looking to fill your seafood cravings. The baked clams appetizer along with the fried clams were outstanding. This place must make their own breading and it shows in the quality of the finished product. We also thoroughly enjoyed the mussels, along with both the hot and cold lobster roll options. A+ Highly Recommended
B&B has been the go to spot in town since they opened. Great food, great drinks, great people and great vibes. Their private dinning space is incredibly special too. That cozy room has been the foundation of some of my fondest memories. I always feel transported to an oceanside town for the night when sitting around that large dinning table. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a space to celebrate. Stopped by for lunch with some friends today and discovered a new favorite meal combo so I’m feeling inspired to spread the good word. No matter how delicious everything on the menu is (shout out to the mussels and rice bowl) that slow cooked turkey chili has my heart forever. Adding a fried egg and swapping the old bay fries (more like ol’ bae 💛) for rice were my switch ups of the day and what fueled my thumbs for this review. A+ P.s. they can get busy weekends so make a res if you can plan ahead
A nice little place in Hastings on Hudson. The decoration is clean and simple with a sea fishing and fishes theme. The cocktails are finely crafted. The oysters are fresh and plush. The linguine with clams are extraordinary: the best I have ever eaten with a deep broth flavor and a fresh sea zing. The rubarb pie with strawberry icecream is round tasting and sophisticated at the same time. The wine list is adequate and the beer one interesting. A lovely place for a fresh simple sea food dinner.
We stopped in on the way home from Untermeyer. As I am on a restricted diet, Tina was extremely accommodating - the good ( tacos & mussels) were delicious. We have been meaning to get to this restaurant for a bit & we’re not disappointed in the least I cannot wait to go back when I can have garlic & spicy food again.
Cozy little place to have conversations and relax. The food/drink was delicious and the service was great. I will definitely be coming back soon!
The food was delicious! I’m from New Orleans, so it’s generally hard to impress me with seafood from other places. Although not nearly as spicy as we do here, the food was indeed delicious. I had the mussels as an appetizer and they were just phenomenal. It was my first time trying north east oysters, and it was different but delicious! Louisiana oysters taste like Louisiana lol, the oysters I had here had a sweeter, lighter almost fresher taste which was great! I did not realize the taste can vary so much by region. Overall great food, great craft beers, great service in a relaxed low key environment 👍🏻
Absolutely fantastic seafood experience! We tried a little bit of everything — the clam chowder was rich and flavorful, the oysters were incredibly fresh, and the calamari was perfectly crisp without being greasy. The fish sandwich was a standout: light, flaky, and seasoned just right. Even the salad was fresh and well-balanced. Friendly service and great atmosphere made it even better. Highly recommend if you’re looking for delicious, well-prepared seafood!
Woke up craving a Lobster roll. Looked up this place online. It was better than what i thought. I like the atmosphere, nice place to have a conversation on a Sunday afternoon. You can have the lobster roll cold or hot, it comes with potato chips. I also ordered the Chowder, which was nice and I had a Sangria which was exactly what I needed. Employees were attentive, 3 different people asked me if I needed anything. I would definitely come back. Ps there is a public parking lot next to it.
WOW! We had a hard time choosing because the menu is big and everything sounded awesome, and everything we picked was a perfect 10 (clam chowder, calimari salad, lobster grilled cheese, old bay fries). Plus, the service, from the minute we walked in the door to the moment we left, was stellar. We can't wait to go back!!
Local favorite. Korean fried chicken sandwich is the sleeper hit! We’ve eaten there at least 100 times and have never had a bad meal or bad service. Super friendly staff and a big plus that it’s very kid friendly.
I had a craving for oysters and missed spending time with my husband (he works a lot). Absolutely fantastic experience. Nautical decorated tavern with great food and service, clean, calm and very welcoming. I had oysters and warm lobster roll, my husband had clam chowder and Korean chicken sandwich food was very delicious. Loved that house vine comes in the can. Paid parking is available next door, wheelchair accessible. Definitely one of Westchester hidden gems.
Once a month (at least) fish tacos, a Red Stripe, and Bay Fries. We’ll always come back, get the Happy Hour specials (great turkey chili) and those crispy fish tacos, with a squirt of lime and a drop of Cholula hot sauce. B&B never disappoints. It can get loud, but it’s neighborly and boisterous.
We returned to Bread & Bread once again and the experience was great, the quality of food was consistent and delish, and although Kristen was not our server this time, the service was great! Maria was our server, she picked up where Valerie left us. This was the lowest point of our experience, having servers switch or just disappear and meeting a new person. We had a chance to see awesome Kristen, she exudes such beautiful energy. You should have Kristen train servers, yeah she’s that good! We went back to Bread & Brine very recently and we were pleasantly surprised! We were seated instantly and the host was pleasant and full of smiles. Our server, Kristen, was incredible! She was super knowledgeable and witty, very professional yet personable. We ordered drumsticks, calamari and pork dumplings for our appetizer and every item was fresh, tasty and delicious. Kristen checked in often and this enhanced our dining experience. For our main, we had a crab cake sandwich, fried chicken, steak frites and a Burger, with sides galore-- the Mac and cheese was yummy, but we have had better. The crab cake was excellently prepared and layered right. It looked like art, the avocado was creamy and hearty. I always have the crab cake because it is filling and perfect! The chicken had a tantalizing crunch, but the degree of moisture was unparalleled. This place has the BEST fried chicken hands down. The batter and chicken meat were so good, my mouth did the happy dance with every bite. The calamari was pure perfection- light batter and crispy finish and fresh calamari. The prices are really good, for that quality of food. Parking is plenty and the service was excellent. The bathroom was clean and nicely kept. The overall experience was 5 stars!! Please give Bread & Brine a try-- well worth it.
Great place to relax after work and get a quick and delicious bite to eat. The lobster roll was amazing (mostly claw meat) the current market price was around $28. The calamari is very small but quite good. The rice bowl with crab cake added was also so delicious and much more filling than the lobster roll.
Been trying new restaurants along the Hudson and wanted to try this one. Parking in the area can be hard on weekends. They have outside seating but choose to sit inside. Came late for lunch ordered clam chowder it was not your typical chowder. Was not creamy at all I’m told that’s not how you make it but what other way is there. The oysters were ok my best friend ordered the burger but unfortunately the order that came out was wrong. So she had to wait again for a new order to come out. My crab cake salad was delicious and was the best part of the meal.
Exceptional. We had 5 adults and 5 children on the private room for a birthday dinner, and it was such a memorable evening. The bartender takes pride in the cocktails menu, and we really ordered so much of the menu and loved everything. The favorites: brussel sprouts, crab dip, lobster roll, lobster BLAT. The kids loved the hot dogs, fries and burger. Service was friendly, patient with the kids, and our food came out hot and fresh. Great for groups or date night. They've got lots of space. We'll be back!!!
DELICIOUS SEAFOOD RESTAURANT 🦀 Incredible seafood restaurant and atmosphere. We went for a family Sunday lunch and was very satisfying. The grilled salmon salad was very delicious and filling. The stormin’ seafood basket is a very good choice to sample all the types of fried seafood. But we all know fried clams are the best 😉 The crab cake sandwich is very good and filling. Clam chowder is good and so is the shrimp cocktail 🍹. Overall everything is great and they have a dedicated kids menu. They also have a large private party guest room for special reservations. Love this place! Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Love my escape night with my hubby. What a breath of fresh air Bread & Brine is for those who don’t know. Felt like I was in one of my favorite seascape towns —— with the best crowd and authentic staff. Recommend the blood orange salty dog cocktail, oysters, crab cake and of course lobster roll - chilled 🫶
We’ve been meaning to try this place for months and I wish we had come sooner. The selection of seafood is good and everything is top quality when it comes to taste. The service was very friendly and attentive. I tried a lobster roll and it tasted amazing - the pieces were hot and buttered. My wife tried a fried fish sandwich which she really enjoyed and was a good value for the price. We also shared some delicious fried calamari and a basket of fried shrimp with fries. The total ended up being a bit on the higher side but the food was well worth it.
Very delicious sea food! Oyster is on point, fresh and nice sauce. Lobster roll, crab roll both are great! Lobster mac and cheese is splendid. We also had perfect storm, a small basket of fried fish in batter, calamari, fried shrimp and fries, quite good! The grilled fish was amazing! If you are in the area there is a plant shop worth visiting.
We had a great experience at Bread & Brine. We ordered fried ipswich clams, fish tacos and fish & chips. The fish was hot, moist, tender. Nothing was greasy. Nice seasoning on the fries. The clams had good flavor as did the tacos. The nautical decor is fun, the service was exceptional. Today was our first visit. We look forward to returning to try more menu items!
Great ambiance. Lobster rolls are on point! I got the cold one, a friend got the hot one. Both were devoured. Their soups are great too. Not the cheapest place but if you order lobster, don't expect it to be cheap. Went here for a late dinner (~7:15pm) and ended up staying past closing (8:30pm) and the staff was courteous and didn't make us feel like we needed to leave. Very convenient location in downtown Hastings right next to a municipal parking lot.
This is such a cute little place with somewhat of a hipster atmosphere. I dined on a Sunday night, so it wasn’t super crowded. Service was good and the food to table time was decent. I had the Maine style lobster roll which was almost as good as ones I’ve had in Maine. I tasted my family’s dishes and they were equally as delicious. I’m not a big oyster fan, but I’ve heard good things about them. Their dessert menu is luscious.
This was my second visit to Bread and Brine. My first visit was to try their fried clams. I got an appetizer portion to go. They gave me a very generous portion of the most delicious, perfectly cooked, very large clams. My very positive experience prompted me to order again. The second time I went I wanted to order the clams again but unfortunately they were out of them. They suggested the fried calamari appetizer in their place. I tried the fried calamari along with a Main style lobster roll. I also ordered a small New England style clam chowder and asked them to leave out as many potatoes as possible since I'm diabetic. The lobster roll was spot on. Good portion of lobster, perfectly toasted roll. The clam chowder's flavor was very good although I was a little disappointed in the amount of clams provided. The soup itself was a little on the thin side for my taste. But again, the flavor itself was excellent. The only clear loser in my order was the fried calamari. I'm sure it might have been excellent, but unfortunately after cooking they put it into a container with no vents, and sealed it. The result was a container full of soggy calamari. The calamari itself was very tender, but I really couldn't enjoy it because the breading was complete mush. I would definitely try it again as an in restaurant order, but as a takeout item it was no bueno.
Had the lunch special lobster roll. Quite tasty although one in our group found that the lobster itself was not prepared with enough salt.
I stood and waited by the wait to be seated sign for about 5 minutes, no one showed up so I sat myself at the bar. The atmosphere is open, bright and casual, sort of like a beach town diner. My burger was mediocre, the tomato slice was as thick if not thicker than my burger patty, plus it was the butt of the tomato. I don’t think i’ll come back, maybe for a drink.
My first time taking a field trip to explore other parts of NY state! Took the train up to HOH for the lobster rolls at @breadandbrinehoh and it was such a nice half day trip! I can’t remember when’s the last time I had a proper lobster roll but this was so good 😊 I had the cold one so it wasn’t very buttery, but great for the summer heat. It was definitely a plus that the bread roll itself was yummy too 🤤 The storm basket had shrimps, squids, fish, and fries. Loved that it came with 4 different sauces so we could mix and match however we wanted. The seafood was good but the fries were too dry for me :/ At first I thought it might be too much for two people, but it was actually just about right!
Great space. Fish and chips was nicely fried. I thought it could've been seasoned a little more. My friend said the lobster roll was really good. It looked like a generous portion of lobster. The clam strips were fried well and was a generous portion. We both really enjoyed the New England clam chowder. There was a generous portion of potato and clams. Great selection of beers and cocktails. They take precautions for indoor dining and have a few tables outside if you prefer. They have this really cute room thats sectioned off that would be great for an intimate gathering. Overall definitely worth trying.
We went for a dinner here and its was a relaxed little restaurant with a bar attached. Service was really good, and our food came out very quickly which is always nice. However, the food itself was, for lack of a better term, average. Nothing bad but nothing that really stood out. Overall things were also pretty expensive, but some of the seafood items varied based on market prices so it is possible it was just a bad day. Also, this place only serves seafood so if that is not your thing then there isn't much for you to eat here.
We enjoyed our time here! The food was pretty good and service was very friendly. The only reason I took a star away is because although we had a reservation we still had to wait almost 30 minutes to be seated. We enjoyed our food and drinks. Just wish the portions were a little bigger. Overall, it was a good experience and maybe we’ll come back in the summer
I recently dined at Bread & Brine and had a pleasant experience. The food was pretty good, with a variety of dishes that were well-prepared and flavorful. The seafood was fresh, and the quality was impressive. However, the service could use some improvement. While the staff was friendly, there were some delays. Overall, it's a great spot for a delicious meal, but a bit more attention to service would make the experience even better. Still, it's definitely worth a visit for the quality of the food alone and a nice outdoor seating area.
Love coming here. Food is delicious and the atmosphere really adds charm to the whole experience. There's indoor dining and a small room for private events. Outdoor seating is nice on warmer days. Need to go back for happy hour. I was a bit disappointed by their Margarita cocktail. It was made with passion fruit but lacked more of the sweetness I expected. Perhaps they used too much ice on this go around. The New England clam chowder was delicious but there was an overwhelming amount of potatoes. Chunks could be smaller. Not enough of a downside to keep me from coming back though. The shrimp basket is always a home run. I can never finish all the fries. Municipal parking lot right outside and some shops to get out if you need to walk off a full stomach.
Returned to Bread and Brine yesterday and ate at the restaurant. Ordered a cup of New England Clam Chowder, a Lobster Grilled Cheese, and a Caesar Salad. The Clam Chowder was top notch - delicious. The salad was very good. But the Lobster Grilled Cheese was a disappointment. It was served with what almost seemed like hot Cheeze-Wiz oozing out of it. This completely overpowered and drowned out the other tastes in the sandwich not to mention it was very messy. The keyword here is LOBSTER. A lobster grilled cheese should highlight the lobster not the cheese. The cheese should be an added ingredient and should be more subtle. Service was good and accommodating to a request to prepare a Caesar Salad without Kale.
Disappointing. Seemed like some of the seafood was frozen. Fried basket had 2 shrimp and mostly clam straps. The crabcake was meh. Not lump meat. The shrimp and grits were good. In fact, the grits were creamy and delicious.
Want to love this place and I do for the oysters but other than that the service is inattentive, the rest of the menu is just OK and the music playing is great if you are 16, during the seventies, stoned out of your mind. What are they thinking? Keep returning to find a better B&B but not happening.
Honestly, I don't understand the hype around this place. Yes, it is located in an expensive neighborhood, not far from the shore. The menu is interesting, but the portions are smaller than typical in similar restaurants. Food tasted nice, but based on other reviews, I expected a bit more flavor. And the service truly surprised me. Do I need to come in wearing a tuxedo to get any attention? Young man was clearly bored and wasn't trying to hide it. Indifference increased when I told him that I'm driving and not planning on purchasing alcohol. No one asked - how was the food, or do we want to order anything else. Verdict: we came, we ate, we paid, we left: nothing to write home about. Somewhat disappointed since we decided to dine there based on earlier reviews.
Walked in at 7:30. It was stated place was closing at 8 pm but they would seat anyways (google says 9 pm). Average review was decent (should have looked at more recent ones before being seated). Ordered salad that came without dressing. I flagged waitress about wanting dressing. She suggested I was mistaken and there must be dressing. I tore apart my salad so she would believe me that I didn't have dressing. Shrimp cocktail was rubbery. I googled recent reviews while at my table. One recent reviewer complained to the wait staff that her to go order was thrown out with no apology or compensation. The waitress in that situation then began gossiping about the family to other staff in front of the customer. So I chose to say my food was okay without further complaint. I had a quick and expensive dinner, leaving within 45 minutes so they could close. Needless to say, I won't be back.
The food at bread brine was very good as always. The oysters and dumplings were solid appetizers and of the entrees we ordered, the Buccatini was our favorite. I will say that the service was pretty unfriendly, which was unfortunate because we chose the place specifically for my husband’s birthday. I don’t know if it was because we had kids (they were very well behaved), but it really put a damper on the birthday dinner experience. Hopefully, just an aberration.
We tried their lobster roll + old bay fries but we left underwhelmed. Lobster roll lacked flavor and fries were too soft/soggy. Given the other reviews, we might give the rest of the menu a second chance.
A little late on this review. Last Saturday was our second time at this place. Both Saturday nights. We were seared promptly and with a friendly smile. I'll start with the good. We had several items on the menu. The calamari tiger style (a must try) the lobster roll (hot) delicious. The whole fish. Perfection. The house salad (ehhh) and a few others. No real complaints. The only issue I had was with the blond bartender. Her drink was horrible. I asked for a new one. She made some passive aggressive rude comment. And made me a new one. It wasn't great. She continued to talk to another customer about me in what she claimed was a joke but it was rude. She was snappy and sarcastic to a flaw. I won't be back if she's there. Totally out of line. There seemed to be a theme with her..she was just off putting in so many ways.
I love the food at this restaurant but I had an issue that is really upsetting me. I have eaten at bread and brine 3 times in the past month- we give them a lot of business. Last time I went there, they took a very long time to give us our food- they were nice about it bought us a drink so we excused it. I ate there tonight with my two kids. My little one barely touched his calamari and I had asked the waitress to wrap it up, while I ran to the bathroom with them. When I came back, she said that the wait staff threw it out. I was like wow that was a lot of food to throw out to which she replied most people don’t save it. This is a local restaurant and they get a lot of business from the town. That was not the correct answer. They basically threw out a twenty dollar platter of calamari after being told to wrap it up. I don’t think we will give the restaurant business again. And maybe they don’t care because they do make very good food. But service should also match the food.
I came here with friends that were from out of state. We arrived around 730 and were told that they were closing soon. I was confused and double checked to see what time they closed and it said 9. Around 745 we ordered drinks, four of us ordered, while we waited for the last 3 to arrive. Our friends came at 755 and we were told that we had 5 minutes to order from the kitchen before they closed. We still hadn't recieved our drinks yet. We ordered our apps and meals and our friends ordered their drinks as well. At 810 the first DRINK arrived. And it was the one ordered by our friends who had ordered after us. 5 minutes later 2 drinks came out, again for our friends who ordered after us. We ask what happened with the drinks that we ordered first, at this point its been 30 minutes since we did. Our server was called and he asked "what's the problem" in a unpolite way. We explained that our drinks weren't brought out, so he asked what the drinks were and then said they were put in and went to check on them. We got them 10 minutes late but again they came out one at a time and only two of the drinks ordered. Around this point, about 835, the food came out. The apps came out first, and the entrees right after but still very close together. I had ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich and noticed that it still hadn't come out. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that it was coming out a bit late. By 850 there was still no buffalo sandwich or 2 of the original drinks ordered. When we asked our server about it, he responded unapologetically that he put the orders in and that he will check to go see what happened. We told him that there it wasn't worth it at that point and that's when he started to sound apologetic. Overall the reunion was soured. I've been here before and that's why I'm disappointed that I'm writing a negative review on this experience.
I booked online via "open table," and they ignored it, open table notified me about my "missed reservation." My daughter ate fish tacos, we were told it was mahi, but that was doubtful. My wife ate a "steamer bowl," aptly named, and I had something called the "perfect storm," another perfectly regrettable meal. Try to find a better place if you can! 🤮🤮🤮
Food was disappointing, just okay. Very small portions and nothing special. Seems fancy but food comes very casual like a fast food spot - plastic cups and baskets for food. Spent $92! for two people and regret it so much definitely not worth it, could’ve gotten actually good food for that price. If you go earlier it’s also very dark in the place until you sit in the side with the windows, overall not a great vibe.
Just moved to the area & tried this place over the summer. I ordered the seafood pasta dish. It was disgusting. One of the worst dishes I’ve ever tried. The mussels/seafood were not fresh & the sauce has zero taste. I immediately sent it back. I was sick to my stomach. Ohh and they served you a a carafe with warm water, no ice…
SHRIMP & GRITS REVIEW I gave this restaurant 1 star because of my recent experience with their shrimp and grits, a staple in my Creole family. The first time I visited, the dish was amazing! It had the perfect amount of shrimp and grits, with sautéed onions, peppers, and a rich red sauce over the shrimp—beautifully plated and hearty enough to keep me full all day. However, when I returned three months later, which is today, November 7, 2024, and ordered the same dish, it took them awhile to bring out my food, which was ok at least im getting what i want fresh and goodness. Well, when my food arrived...the bowl had about 3/4 cup of grits drowned in 2 cups of red sauce with chorizo, plus 4 large shrimp that looked like they came straight from a cocktail, with no sauce. I couldn't believe they messed yp this CREOLE STAPLE!! The cornbread was ok but it was a little hard at the bottom...as if it was the beginning stages of turning stale. I left feeling disappointed, still hungry, and overcharged—it just didn’t live up to my first experience.
Went in with a group at 7:45PM and as soon as they saw us the young girl behind the bar said they close in 5 minutes. Website said they close at 9:00PM. Didn’t even walk us to a table and they said to go sit outside. As soon as we sit down another young kid said in such a monotone “we close in like 3 minutes so i need Your orders now” so we were rushed to order food and drinks. Not only did they rush us to do all this in about 15 seconds but then he didn’t even write down everything we wanted. Took 30 minutes to bring drinks out 1 by 1 and literally just gave us our apps and forgot most of our entrees. By this time it was like 8:30PM and it seemed everyone else around us got a different courtesy for the waiter besides us. Also, every time we asked for our food that never came out he just seemed annoyed and always said “what is it now” . Food felt like it just went into the microwave before us, clam chowder (which i loved From this place) was super watered down, and drinks were also watered down. As we left i know They were slamming the dishes and chairs out of anger. If you guys are going to hire young kids to work for the summer, make you you teach/show them the importance of how to do their job professionally. I dont Think this group would be coming back.
A super regrettable experience that began with a carafe of warm water (a rather easy thing to get right -- wouldn't you think?) This was followed by a seemingly endless and very frustrating wait for our food and drinks -- with no genuine concern by the staff other than (oh, oopsie) "there had been a mix up in kitchen." Insult was added to injury when we were informed that a $3 soft drink had been taken off our tab as consolation for the terrible service, mediocre food and loud and unsettling atmosphere. Horrible. Do not waste your time or money.
I went in to get a tasty side order of fried clams to go. The person who took my order said 10-15 minutes. I sat there and sat there and sat there and finally someone asked me the name on my order and promptly brought them out..... cold. The person who took my order then never bothered to check on them again. Lukewarm fried clams, all you taste is the grease.
Bread & Brine has been in my heavy rotation of local fav restaurants for a long while but tonight we had an experience which has taken them out of rotation. I ordered the fish & chips basket (my usual order) and it looked perfectly cooked & crispy on the outside. My first bite revealed that the fish was rubbery and sinewy. I looked further into the piece of fried fish and discovered that it was completely raw in the middle. I tried to get the attention of our server but she was in a deep chitchat session at the bar with the bartender and another staff member. I took my fish basket to her and advised her that my fried fish was raw inside. She did ask if I wanted a replacement (I declined, I had lost my appetite after biting into squishy fish). If it had ended there, that would have been fine but unfortunately, our server was gossiping about it with a table of 3 guests that were seated a few tables away. She never checked on our table until much later and then gave us two cookies “on the house” (we were a table of four so two cookies seemed weird) - and then she forgot to bring us our check. It was a slow Monday night - maybe 5 or 6 other small tables of guests - so it was annoying to have to wait around and flag her down for the check after our terrible dining experience. I’ve been loyal to this local spot, it’s a shame that it had to end this way.
My baked clams were decent, shrimp was overcooked, fries were not that great, coleslaw was eh. Other parties Steamers with white wine garlic sauce were flavorless. Clam chowder was thin/watery -two others ate that it looked awful. Third parties Halibut and roasted potatoes and cornbread(this was pver cooked bottom very dark) seemed okay but the overall presentation was not good. We were returning from a drive and stopped to eat, honestly was very disappointed. Would not recommend. Seemed expensive for the meal we had no drinks either. Staff was attentive.
Came here for dinner on a weeknight. Food? Decent. Service? A masterclass in how NOT to wait tables. The staff-member greeted our order with judgement, eye-rolls and the memory retention of a goldfish (pro-tip: maybe write it down?). Add in the impromptu disappearing acts (sneaking bites behind the bar) and we enjoyed the authentic experience of being an inconvenience at our own dinner. (Management—perhaps consider revolutionary concepts like “lunch-breaks” for your staff?). Cute space and great location but I’ll pass on the side order of attitude. Maybe we caught this place on an off night, or maybe Mercury was in retrograde? Either way, my dinner and dignity left equally bruised.
Horrible experience here. The waitress was indifferent and unhelpful. We ordered potatoes as a side, not knowing that the entree we ordered came with potatoes. When the busser came out with two plates of potatoes, she looked down and realized what she did (or didn't do) and sent it back. We were left without plates or utensils until after our entrees arrived. How are we supposed to eat? Generally an unpleasant experience that I regret spending money on. I was looking forward to eating here for a long time and was disappointed.
