Alexander's Restaurant & Wine Bar

Our server Donna was a superstar. This place is a little off the beaten path but is totally worth the trip. The food was the best we had on the island in the 7 days we stayed. Definitely recommending this one to all friends and family who visit here.

Wow! We are visiting Hilton Head for the week, and decided to eat her for my birthday. Everything was amazing! Our server, Angela, was WONDERFUL. She was beyond kind, genuine and on top of it. Would give her 6 out of 5 stars if I could. The food = chefs kiss!

Some of the best short ribs I’ve had in a long time! The pomegranate marg was also great. My bf had the pork chops with grits and greens. He was very impressed!

One of the best meals we have had while in Hilton Head. Recommended by a local for our date night; Alexander’s did not disappoint. We made reservations as we were warned they get busy. We were greeted as we walked in and sat quickly. Our server did a great job, was attentive and professional. Great wine list at reasonable prices. Craft beer was solid, I like it when local breweries are featured. The food was fantastic! Scallops were large and so good. Surf and turf special was cooked perfectly (rare) and had great flavor. The mushrooms and onions were a great addition to the dish. We had the chocolate decadence for dessert; not pictured as it went way too fast. We will be back and highly recommend!!

Donna and the team that served us [ for my Birthday celebration/ Monday evening ] did an excellent job!! The suggestion of items to try as well as drinks and such was spectacular... We assumed that the place would be holiday decorated, and it was a nice change to see one place that wasn't totally overwhelmed with decorating. < although we do plan to go back to see the decorations, as suggested>. The salad was very fresh, the steak was amazing... However, I only gave the food a four star rate as the vegetable was inedible due to its condition, [to hard]. If you're looking for a good place for a great dinner and wanna get dressed up relax and enjoy your time... This is the place to go!! 🌹 Can't believe we didn't find this restaurant sooner!! 🌹

We had an excellent dining experience with Toni and the entire staff at Alexanders on Sunday 11/26/25. Because of that experience we chose to spend our last night dining experience with Toni at Alexanders again on Monday 11/27/25. Toni was an absolute pleasure to have as our server and we specifically asked for her again on Monday. She brings an extra level of service and was very helpful to us with menu selections. Doug Weaver the Director of Golf Instruction joined us and enlightened us to the history of Palmetto Dunes and his teaching approach to his clients. Doug is a very important person in the field and respected nationally if not internationally as well. We are thankful to the entire staff at Alexanders and the (manager,) who stopped by on numerous occasions to make sure everything was going well. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an excellent meal and experience.

Reservations are hard to get for this restaurant, so we were excited to finally get to try Alexander’s. We had a 5:15 reservation for 5 people. We arrived at 5pm, and the hostess seated us immediately. Being a family of 5, we usually get seated in awkward areas of restaurants, but our table here was great. We had a nice view of the water, and our table was separated by two walls from the other seating areas. Our server was attentive. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits. I ordered the filet and added grilled shrimp. All 3 kids ordered prime rib and fries. Everything was cooked perfectly. We would have liked a little bit more salt on our entrees, but the kids said theirs were seasoned perfectly. For dessert we ordered some ice cream and the chocolate decadence dessert. We spent the same amount of money at another local restaurant but much preferred this one.

Underwhelming experience at Alexander’s. Surprised after reading so many positive reviews. We were a table of 8 however the restaurant was pretty empty for a Thursday night. Requested timeslot couldn’t be accommodated (7 pm so 8 pm was selected), yet there were only 3 other seatings. Lighting inside the restaurant was very bright white stark light but request to turn it down for ambiance was kindly accommodated. Pre-reservation drinks at the bar were good with a selection of local liquors. Sadly, food was mediocre at best. Schnitzel was served cold, potato sides were old and appeared reheated not fresh. Best dish of the night was the house fish special I think it was Red fish which was hot and tasty. Prime rib was adequate not blown away. Others dishes were sadly not memorable and I cannot recall them now. Service was good. Overall I’ll personally likely not return, and not as a group, though as a smaller couple for lunch I suspect my parents as locals will give it another try.

My parents and I came here for a nice dinner, but if my experience is any indication, be prepared to get your tooth cracked if you order the Seafood Pasta. The reason being, is that when I ordered it, the mussels were in their shells, which I'm sure is fairly standard, and the shells were easy to remove, with the meat being just as easy to get out of the shell. The problem with that was while the shells were easy to remove, there were several fragments of the shell that had gotten to the bottom of my bowl. These fragments were practically invisible to the naked eye, and since they were mixed in with the rest of the food, I chewed down on it not knowing it was there, and it felt like I cracked a tooth. One time was okay, but this wound up happening three different times. On the flip side, there are positives to this place. I really enjoyed the part of my meal where I wasn't breaking my teeth, and they serve some really delectable desserts here! If you want a fine dining experience, this is certainly a place to go!

Great recommendations, but a sorry affair overall. The restaurant is set on a lovely waterway surrounded by old trees. It was our wedding anniversary and I was hoping we might have a tiny dessert bite with "Happy Anniversary" written on the plate - as shown by several pics from customers - for dessert. We didn't get that far. Nice chewey bread and spicey herbed oil to start while we waited for our meal. That was delicious. We both ordered prime rib medium well. The steaks arrived and even LOOKED Overcooked. I could barely cut the meat out, it was so well done and tough. The roasted potatoes and broccolini were cold and overcooked too - did they sit under a light? We asked that the meat be replaced. It was. The waitress was pleasant, the manager came by and she too was friendly and apologetic. New steaks were brought, but "just ok" as I told the manager. She seemed upset that I used that word. "OK??" she repeated loudly. and walked away. The second steak was less cooked, but the amount of rubbery fat was crazy, and unappitizing to look at. I had a few bites. The flavor so'so. It also had our previously delivered vegetables on the plates. Much colder than before. My husband ate his meal, grumbling.i ate the bread. I took my dinner home in a box. If I slice it thinly- vegetables and meat - it will make a nice omelet. A nice $40 omelet. Very disappointed. This experience ruined our anniversary dinner. Asking Hubby to buy me a burger on the way home. Not the night we planned.
