Best Chinese restaurant in Hollister! Good food, always seems really fresh. Great for lunches and nice dinner settings. A bit small but never had any issues. Quick service with friendly smiles.

People are always pleasant, love the food and prices are very reasonable. I go there mostly for lunch and carry out. Szechuan pork lunch special or fried rice is what I like. Great place.

Ordered soup and chow mein to go. Was detailed on the ingredients and spot on the instructions for my picky boyfriend. Food was good and texture of the chow mein was awesome.

The people here were the original proprietors of China Garden (was near Payless shoestore). The best Chinese food in Hollister is here. The cafe is small, pretty busy near peak times, but the menu is diverse; and take-out is a big part of their service. Yum!

I went for lunch for there chicken corn soup. Only place I know that has the best food. Loved it. Very clean n friendly service. Food came fast and was sooo good. Definitely recommend to everyone.

I am extremely picky about my food and specifically picky about my fried rice. I give it a 10/10. Service was excellent. Seating was comfortable. This is my "go to" place for Chinese food now. Owner and staff understood and spoke English very well. Also, dining area was very nicely air conditioned! Enjoyed myself immensely.

Been going here for years even when moved out of town to Los Banos. Thou happy to be back in my home town and even with change of ownership, food still amazing. Their lunch specials have a great price point with generous portions that can’t be beat imo.

Dishes were hit and miss. Fried rice, chow mein, sweet + sour chicken were good, but didn't enjoy the beef brocolli, 3 Ingedient Special, or the others... Dishes brought were dirty, had dried piece of food stuck on 2 of the 5 plates brought to the table. 2 of the 5 menus brought to the table had suspect hair in between the pages. Good value for what you get, but most likely won't be dining in again. Perhaps only order to-go what we enjoyed.

Kinda like they were cooked in the same sauce. The service was good no complaints there. For the money I do not think I will be going back. We used to like their food but something has changed.

The sesame chicken was could be better. Bland taste and very soggy. The potstickers were good though.

Portions were huge but flavor was lacking. Food items were either bland or super salty. Felt as if food was microwaved before serving since it was extremely hot on the outside but barely warm on the inside. I did show up close to closing so maybe it was just a bad time (not an excuse on their part). Or maybe it was just a bad day. Will give them another go but first experience wasn't a very good one.

I started working in Hollister recently and decided to try Happy Café based off reviews. I ordered the sweet & sour pork with fried rice, Soup was not offered as it was takeout due to covid. There were more vegetables & pineapple than pork and the fried rice had no vegetables at all. Just soy sauce and small amounts of egg. The overall portions are not bad, its just the lack of flavor.

Poor service, almost got enough sweet & sour sauce to wet the chicken, not currently doing dine-in but takeout doesn’t include soup so $6.75 extra for what’s normally included. Food was okay at best. $19.25 for one person and less than adequate portions.

Highly disappointed with the food. We ordered combo fried rice, which had two-three shrimp, chewy beef & chicken pieces and severely lacked in flavor. The sweet and sour chicken was ok, the onions and peppers were not sautéed for long so they were still pretty crunch and my husband unfortunately bit into cold pieces of chicken. He ordered the deluxe won ton soup, which the broth was flavorful but the wontons itself were horrifically over done and mushy. Lastly, he ordered the dragons nest which the noodles he mentioned tasted like they were just heated up and thrown into the to go box. They weren’t crunchy or thin, they were simply the lo mein noodles. Overpriced for such lack of flavor.

Ordered this via DoorDash, rice was dry and crammed to the top of the container. It looked like they dumped a ton of soy sauce on it or something that had no flavor. Also got shrimp noodles that had no flavor. The egg rolls were okay and the potstickers were very dry and also flavorless. This will be the last time I order from here.
