“Very authentic Hong Kong–style café. I was delighted to see all the classic Hong Kong signature drinks on the menu. Every dish we ordered tasted great. I’ll definitely be back!”

I’ve been coming for many years, order the same food items, , and always ask for same waitress Beef chow fun no vegetables, extra meat and sauce, fried sole of fish, chicken wings. The best and the owner is always there. They know everything about my order

My go-to restaurant for authentic Chinese/Cantonese cuisine for the past 22 years. I always order the same dish, beef chow fun with vegetables and I love it. I’m looking forward to the next visit!

Located in the Houston Chinatown, I loved this place, it did not have a huge menu sometimes typical of Chinese restaurants but still had plenty of options. I was there for the fried rice, got the chicken and salty fish fried rice, great portion, excellent taste and flavorful. Ended up getting a take out as well of Curry Chicken of Rice which was juicy, well balanced and with plenty of chicken and a take out of Shrimp and salty fish fried rice. Give this place a try for sure if in the area, the service was friendly and efficient too. Located in a small strip mall with enough parking.

This place is my new favorite hk cafe place. The hk cafe near by is pretty good too but they don't have as full of a menu as house of bowls. Staff here is next level amazing. Cannot wait to go back and try more dishes, only thing we didn't like was the hk lemon ice tea. Food is amazing so that's all that matters. The shrimp in the egg and shrimp is a bit on the small side and frozen but taste overall was still great.

Our go-to place for comfort food! The black pepper beef pasta is both my husband and my favorite! It’s a bit strong in flavor compare to other dishes, we like it this way tho. I always get the lemon tea, good taste never too sweet or artificial. It gets overcrowded during weekend lunch time and the parking could be very challenging! The restaurant itself is old and dark. But who comes here for fancy atmosphere? 😉

My favorites: F14 no pork R29 spicy chicken Sometimes you have to wait for service or for your order to be taken, BUT the food is always good

This was our first time here and honestly it’s already our favorite Cantonese spot in Houston. Every dish we tried was amazing and the portions were very generous. There were four of us, and we each picked a dish to share. The bbq pork and roasted duck combo with rice was my favorite. We also had the Yang Chow fried rice, so good. And the spicy shrimp with pan-fried egg noodles were to die for. Great flavors, generous portions, and just a really good Chinese restaurant in Houston. We’ll definitely be back soon.

This place is straight out of Hong Kong! The food is great, the staff are wonderful, and oh my goodness did I mention the food is great? I got some beef curry brisket to share with my wife with some Cantonese French toast. My wife got a honey tea and I got the 香港 milk tea. We followed it up with some fish balls and egg drop soup. Everything was amazing and I cannot recommend you try it enough if you’re in Houston.

My first time here and WOW, I was impressed. I had the Egg BBQ Pork Chow Fun ("F10" on the menu). The portion was big and the silky, eggy sauce was so satisfying combined with the noodles and thin slices of pork. Perfect comfort food. The place was busy on a Saturday afternoon, and everybody else's food looked amazing. I chatted up another customer who said he's been eating here for 30 years. The House of Bowls website says they are "a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Houston’s vibrant Chinatown," and it's true: They're tucked into a little strip mall behind a Wells Fargo at Corporate Drive and Bellaire Blvd. I will definitely return; next time I'll get the Beef Brisket Noodle Soup.

We got the chicken wings per the reviews of others and they were so juicy!!! We tried other dishes like the chow fun and fried rice which were tasty but the wings are definitely the best.

This restaurant never let me down. Same as every time we visited, the food quality here is high and service is speedy. Today we ordered Curry beef over rice and Korean style stir fried rice cake. Both were so yummy and better than any other places. The best is their iced milk tea and iced coffee. Almost every customer has one of them on the table. Must try! Very authentic Hong Kong style iced coffee and milk tea! Almost forgot to mention the garlic wings. It's heavenly tasty.

I was missing their jumbo spicy garlic shrimp and had to get some among other favorites with friends. The food is delicious as always and the staff very attentive and efficient. My water never went empty and the service was quick. They even packed the leftovers for us. I can't say I've had a dish i didn't like, so try it all and the French toast:)

Food is great! Menu can be overwhelming even after few times you go there. So many tasty options. With three dishes you can feed 3. We order beef with broccoli, the house special noodles (spaghetti style -egg) and a sea food combo with flat noodles. Right balance of spice and taste of the ingredients. Service is fast and attentive. The restaurant itself is not sophisticated and decoration not exiting, but good for purpose. Good value for your money.

We stopped in for lunch during a day exploring Chinatown. The service was quick and friendly. The food was all enjoyed by my family but they weren’t able to accommodate my gluten allergy so sadly I could not partake. The spicy shrimp entree was enough for two and thoroughly enjoyed! The egg rolls were ok but not anything to write home about, I would try another appetizer next time. The restaurant was decorated nicely. Great spot for authentic food!

The food was great—we ordered three dishes and enjoyed every one of them. If you're into spicy, the Spicy Beef with Rice is a solid pick. The Shanghai Fat Noodles (F16) were fresh and probably our favorite of the bunch. The Salt and Pepper Spare Ribs didn’t disappoint either. The atmosphere was nice, but the service could use some work. Our server was... efficient, let’s say—but definitely on the abrupt side, especially compared to the friendly service we’re used to in Chinatown. We paid in cash, and the change was set on the table. About 30 seconds later, while we were still sitting there deciding on a tip, she swooped back in and took the change. Apparently, she made the decision for us—bold move! All in all, the food was great, but with so many excellent options in Chinatown that offer both great food and warm service, we’ll probably explore elsewhere next time. P.S. The french toast with sweetened condensed milk was quite good!

Most food are pretty authentic Hong Kong style dishes. With exception of deep fried tofu which is lack of golden color due to short cooking time. Also the乾炒牛河, they did not put enough heat before dumping the noodle into the Hot wok so there is lack of 鍋氣味道. I personally like that deep fry chicken wing with green onion.

Set your expectations down a little and think of this place as old school Cantonese restaurant and then you will be content 😄 This restaurant offers plenty of old school favorites like mince beef with raw egg over rice, salted fish and chicken fried rice, peapod leaves with garlic, beef stir fried with flat rice noodles and bean sprouts. The portions were generous, just wish they use a little less salt. The waiter and waitress were friendly enough for a Chinese restaurant 🤣

This is a fantastic spot for HK food! We came in during lunchtime on Friday- warning, the restaurant is popular so it gets packed and the parking lot in the area is pretty limited. We ordered the Hong Kong Style Lemon Tea, Curry Beef Brisket Chow Fun, Chicken Wing with Pepper and Scallion, and French Toast. The drink is citrusy and not too sweet which I personally like. The chicken wings were super juicy and flavorful- this is a must! As for the HK style french toast, this definitely satisfied my sweet tooth and I’d come back just to eat this. As for the Curry Beef Brisket Chow Fun, the noodles were a little mushy and stuck together but the sauce was flavorful and the beef was very tender and flavorful. Overall, I’d give this spot a 4.5/5 for the food! Service was standard and the interior was pretty spacious (but as I mentioned before, it gets pretty busy inside since this is a popular spot)! I can’t wait to visit again and try more dishes.

Overall, the food here is good. I think their roast duck is the best in town. It’s very fatty, with crispy skin, and not too salty. The spare ribs were good, but not fall-apart tender like some other restaurants. I don’t know if this is a choice due to regional variations in the dish, but I liked it a bit less than some other places. The flavor was very good however. The service was fast and courteous. House of Bowls is an easily recommendable restaurant, if you crave Cantonese/Honk Kong style cuisine.

Good value for HK style dishes. Quality and taste is average if you have a hankering for HK-cafe inspired type food. Their serving sizes are big so they get some credit for being good value for money.

We order bbq pork and shrimp fried rice, spicy shrimp crispy noodles and fried chicken. The noodles had a good kick to it. The fried rice was on the bland side and the fried chicken was OK. Service was FAST. We got within about 5 minutes but the fried chicken took 15-20. Portions were great and the price was fair. There are so many other restaurants to try in Houston so we’ll probably not be back.

Expected a little more flavor from the dishes. They look great in the photos that everyone is taking on Google Maps, but just disappointing flavor. My meal was made better because I put Chin-Su on the dry noodles with beef. My spouse got the fried rice with BBQ pork and added duck. That was not bad. We also got the 6 egg rolls, not the greatest sauce to dip them in but serviceable. Will not return to try other items. Better places in Chinatown.
