Fresh and wonderful food. Got the spicy twice cooked pork and brazed eggplant with beans. The staff was kind and helpful. Only downgraded atmosphere because building is old but but clean. Bathroom was very clean. I’ve always found that small places give you the best service in the freshest food and they did not let me down
We ordered a total of three dishes between the two of us, and at first we were worried that it might not be enough. But when the steamed fish slices were served, we realized that the portions were very generous! The flavor of the food was excellent. It was rare to find such authentic Hunan cuisine in Houston. The service at the restaurant was also great, and we ordered a pot of hot tea that tasted like a light, fragrant chrysanthemum tea. Overall, it was a great experience.
Got premium food so we got premiums flavors. For Christmas day our family decided to have a feast. We got the Alaskan king crab that was $54 a pound. Our crab was 10 pounds. That and all the other stuff added together made the meal a wonderful experience. Flavors were on point and fresh to the taste. As usual we got so much food I had to clean up the ends of the plates as everyone was getting full. This place is definitely a hidden gem. Initially when you walk in there is a smell from the tank that holds the seafood but very quickly you get used to it in anticipation for the food.
The food is delicious! We have Twice-Cooked Pork, Spicy Chicken, Green Vegetables and Sour Fish. It's worth mentioning that the portions of food were very generous, and we were quite satisfied after eating.
Overall the experience and service was good. We ordered the Spicy Hot Pot as well as the Braised Pork. The Spicy Hot Pot was the highlight of the meal and the Braised Pork was decent as well. If you are looking for a reasonably priced Chinese restaurant I would recommend giving it a try.
Authentic and delicious Chinese menu! Flavor was great! Had pork and lamb Very typical interior - some tables are located a bit too close to the bathroom though… Will definitely come back to try more items
This was our first time at Shanghai restaurant. We tried to go one other time but it was still closed because of Covid. The restaurant was a lot smaller than I expected. We came for dim sum and although the food was very good, you do just order the items off of a menu. They do not push the carts around so you do not get a true dim sum experience. I would not say the waitresses were super friendly but that does lend to a true dim sum experience. We had to ask for water several times and they didn’t refill. I was very impressed with all of the food though. The portion sizes were very big and everything tasted very good. The shrimp dishes all had large pieces of shrimp. Fried dishes eere fried well - not too greasy and steamed dishes were nice and hot. We got the little piggy buns just for grins. We had 7 adults and we ordered A LOT of food (packed up 3 Togo boxes) and the price was very reasonable. We will definitely come here again.
Ordered jasmine tea and string beans. The ginger and garlic flavor on the dry string beans are delicious!!
Great place to try out authentic Tujia (土家)cuisine and ordering the steamed fish head with chili was memorable. The fish head is massive! The flavors of everything we got were delicious. We also got “saliva chicken” (口水鸡)which would be better translated as “drool-worthy chicken”… there’s a good amount of numbing spice in that dish. Eggplant with garlic sauce (鱼香茄子),spicy and sour shredded potato, sautéed long beans, beef with broccoli were all delish. Chrysanthemum tea was fragrant though the color was different from what I’ve previously seen. We even chatted with one of the owners, who’s super nice. Overall this is a place I’d visit again and bring friends.
One word to describe the dim sum: yummy. Its hard for me to try other dim sum here in Bellaire since I always have my favorite ones I like to frequent and I think this one may easily become my favorite dim sum spot. Its good quality, fresh, and has a lot of variety. The only thing is I think the Turnip cake could be fried a little longer, however my little girl loved it and ate 2 pieces (it came in 3 pieces). The price is very affordable and you can order a lot without breaking the bank account. Definitely my new dim sum hangout.
This place is my weekly go to since they opened!!!!! Food is always on point and I always feel like home when eating there. Everything is 5 stars and I would definitely go back many many times !!!!!!
The food was super amazing and delicious perfectly seasoned and fresh. Very impressive.

Small place for dim sum, gets crowded but not much of a wait as there's good turnover. The crispy curry beef puff was phenomenal. The pork buns are good, but a little smaller than most places. There are good vegetarian options if you want that for some reason. Right next to H Mart so you don't have to shop hungry.
FRESH! It is very evident that the food cooked to order. It was an amazing flavor fest. The menu is quite traditional and lots of interesting items. I did ask for one item to be not spicy and they did an amazing job of keeping the flavor without the spice. You can order single meals but it is more fun to share. The rice was perfect. My only dislike, not a complaint, was that the food took a while to make, but there again, totally fresh and hand prepared, worth the wait. The atmosphere was good with the decor, but it would be a lot better with traditional music playing.
This place is okay. I'd even say good but we tried many dishes and end up finding surprisingly little to say about them. It's a VERY authentic (for better or worse) dim sum restaurant that accomplishes what it does. Some of the highlights worth noting from out dinner include: - The cheung fun is thinner than usual, more akin to a Vietnamese bánh cuốn than cheung fun you'd find elsewhere. Whether you prefer this is up to you. - The chicken feet are very good! They are seasoned well, substantial, and have enough edible cartilage to make an actual meal and not just make you feel like gnawing on bones like a certain animal. - Durian puff is A++ if you like durians. The pastry part is fairly thin, not too sweet and the dish is mostly made up of real durian paste inside. It also has a nice pandan flavor. - On the other hand, the beef tripe is... not great. It felt old or perhaps simmered too long, where most of the fat rendered and became overwhelming while simultaneously softening the texture. The beef tripe felt very tough yet not crunchy like it usually is. - The gai lan is frankly overpriced (SP grade for a plate of greens? C'mon) and the oyster sauce that comes with it is WAAAAAAY too salty. All in all, a good place if you just want some dim sum lol.
reasonably priced dim sum in a smaller casual atmosphere. if you want to avoid the the crowds at some of the other over crowded places, you can get your dim sum in a low key friendly place.
Solid affordable dim sum. Smaller place and very quiet on a Sunday evening. Everything was hot and fresh. Beef balls were perfectly cooked and the sesame balls were slightly larger than other places. Wasn't a huge fan of the beef Curry puffs but glad I tried those and the mala cake which was pretty good.

The flavor is awesome !!! And authentic Chinese flavor. Each dishes are fresh hot cooked so you can taste it is not prepared! Pork liver is really tender and nice. Price during weekdays lunch is amazing However. One of the food is not good maybe which makes my husband got diarrhea right after the lunch. Other than that everything is nice.

**They do NOT have dim sum or the rice noodle dumplings anymore!!** I came here on a weekday, so that may have been what caused the problem I had. I ordered the Peasant Family Braised Pork ($18.95) and it would have been really good if it was actually hot. The Chinese spice flavor was there and the meat was tender and fatty, but it wasn't really hot. I was expecting it to be fresh hot because 1) it's a restaurant and 2) the other Google reviews said that their food took a while to come out because the food was being made fresh. However, my dish came out only 2 minutes after I ordered, which is great since that's really fast. HOWEVER, upon eating the meat, I realized that it wasn't exactly hot. It felt like it was made earlier in the day and then left under a heat lamp and then barely reheated for less than 2 minutes and served, which is kinda disappointing because I thought it would have been really amazing if not for that. The rice also tasted like it was made earlier in the day and then kept in the rice cooker/pot. It wasn't super hot and tasted like it was just about to go stale. It wasn't, but it was on the verge of being stale. The service was pretty good. The waitresses were attentive and helpful. One of them placed everything in a to-go container for me while I was paying the bill, which was really helpful and nice.

We went for lunch today, and the 1 star is for the restaurant not the waitress. The food itself was just okay. They put too much ginger in the dishes, and anything labeled “spicy” wasn’t spicy at all. For a quick lunch, though, it’s nothing to really complain about. I ordered four plates and couldn’t finish them, so I asked for one soup container and two boxes for my leftovers. The waitress told me that she doesn’t give soup containers to customers because they’re expensive—which meant I would have to pay for the container. How ridiculous. I paid for my meal, but I’m not allowed to take my food home because the container isn’t free. I’m okay with paying extra, but not for a plastic to-go container after a meal. In the end, I was given four boxes to take my food home, even though there was a lot of sauce on my plates. Apparently, they don’t care whether the sauce spills or not—they just want to save their $0.50 container cost. I could have cut $1 from the tip to cover the container cost, but I didn’t think that was fair. The waitress didn’t do anything wrong. She was just following the restaurant’s policy. So keep in mind: if you’re planning to take leftovers home (especially with sauce), bring your own containers—because theirs are apparently much more expensive than everyone else’s. I’ve never seen a restaurant actually sell a to-go container before. Notes taken:-C
Last time they mistaken the payment between two customers and wasted us 15 mins waiting. No apology and compensation, but still ask for 18% tip? How come, poor service still ask high tip. Does it make sense?
