The amount of time, care, and artistry that went into each roll is amazing and mind blowing! We drove 45+ minutes to try it and it was totally worth it! This one reviewer said she bodied the sushi in the car because it was too good and we totally understand and did the same! My husband said it was better than fish sushi which he loves and I don’t know how but the watermelon tuna has even more flavor than fish and you don’t have to worry about getting parasites 😋 Also, the chef was THE NICEST and most humble person ever! Definitely give it a try, you’ll be going back for more!
YUM!!!! This place is crazy good. This is by far some of the best sushi I’ve ever had (including non-vegan). My siblings, who aren’t vegan, also really enjoyed all of the rolls. We had the truffle edamame roll, lowkey Loki, classic spicy tuna, lady in red, and the inari. Literally all bangin. My person fav was lady in red. Could not recommend more for vegans and non-vegans alike! Also, the owner is incredibly pleasant and kind. I should’ve gotten his name. Such a sweet human!
Owner is so friendly and the food is absolutely delicious. We travel a lot for work and fun and this place is top #3 vegan sushi places. Definitely recommend if you’re vegan (or not!). The rolls are beautifully presented and very filling since it has real ingredients. It’s for take out (ghost kitchen fyi so you order and wait for it to be brought out, which is fine by us). Will definitely be back :) please come support local business!
My husband and I flew into Houston from Wisconsin for a wedding. We then drove 40 minutes from the airport to try this restaurant, and let me tell you... WELL WORTH IT. We got 5 different rolls and they were all delicious. I loved loved loved the Papi Shroom roll. Even my mostly carnivorous husband was praising the food and saying how much he loved the Spicy Mami roll. We both agreed that if we ever come back to Houston, The Vegan Sushi Spot is a must!
My sister was visiting from out of town, and we ended up placing our order pretty late, but the owner was incredibly kind and accommodating. The sushi was beautifully presented and tasted absolutely amazing. Everything felt thoughtful and high quality. This place is 100% worth visiting — we’ll definitely be back!
The food was absolutely delicious. Planned on taking a quick bite then heading home to finish but I BODIED the whole order sitting in my car it was that good. Presentation was beautiful as well felt like I was opening a gift. Had an issue finding the location but with a quick phone call was able to receive help with that. There is no space to dine in so atmosphere isn’t applicable hence my rating. Overall 10/10 HIGHLY recommend
Recommend? Yes!!! I highly recommend this vegan sushi ghost kitchen! Like other reviewers have mentioned, they make their “fish” in house. I ordered the inari and the Lady Red and they were both delicious. In a world of avocado rolls, they’re a real standout.
Just speechless-it is the best vegan sushi in Houston. The flavors are very well-balanced, unique and delicious. Usually, vegan sushi means cucumber or avocado roll. Here, the owner tried to surprise with uncommon ingredients all of which are made in-house, no artificial plant “fish”, gorgeous presentation even in the “to go” format. It’s so pleasing that the owner continues to develop the vegan culture in the city through his beautiful talent. To go format is very fast and easy. I hope that one day the owner would open his own restaurant that would look much like Nori in Austin! Good luck with your business!
There is no dine in option, so I can't speak for the inside atmosphere, but the outside and curbside service was nice. This was definitely worth the drive from Humble to Midtown. I've been wanting to try this sushi for a while. I must say that it's the best I've had since moving to the Houston area. Very fresh ingredients and the boxes were packed so neat. I had the Truffle Edamame Roll, the Papi Shrooms Roll, and the Spicy Dragon Roll (GF) with fresh micro-greens.
This place makes the BEST vegan sushi I've ever had. The presentation, the flavors and toppings - all are AMAZING. Don't skip out on the sides too - spicy cucumber salad was really good. My favorite roll was the Lady in Red. I wish there was an area to eat inside, but the food is so good I'll just order again another day and take it to go to somewhere like Hermann Park or the MFAH 🤗🤗🤗
Amazing vegan sushi and flavors!! I got the firecracker sushi and the spice was phenomenal, and the vegan tuna really shined. We also shared the tofu skins and again, the vegan tuna is great and paired well with the other flavors of the sweet sauce drizzle. Also very filling. My friends got the Papi Shrooms and Nicko Roll. They were just as great. Make sure you go to their instagram or website to order online and pickup is at CutThroat Barbers since this is a ghost kitchen. Highly recommend you to order here if you haven’t or are visiting the area like we were.

This is hands down the best vegan sushi I’ve had. The service is awesome too, real stand up folks. Must hit spot… no dine in option though only pickup.
We wanted some vegan sushi. Instead we arrived at this place which looks like a house. Frankly, we thought gps had made an enormous error and drove around the block. This place is not exactly comforting to even arrive at. When I called them, they said they're only doing carry out orders. [I think that's okay as long as you specify that on your google ad or website] It was highly disappointing to not be able to dine in as we had planned. Edited review on June 13th, 2025. We still wanted to try their Sushi. So we ordered online. These rolls were sooooo good. It was beautifully put together and tasted amazing. I was looking to see other vegan versions of Sushi than how it's done in my home town. I highly recommend this place. Ww will return again and again!
I am extremely big on leaving reviews when I feel like a service is extraordinary! Not only was the vegan sushi delicious, they gave me a complementary roll that was even more delicious than the original rolls I ordered. I ordered through DoorDash and the food came perfectly prepared, sealed tight, and all of the sushi was still well put together as if I was dining in. The flavors were delicious and if you are looking for a great vegan sushi spot, you should definitely try this one. They have a large amount of gluten-free options as well and take cross contamination very serious. Will be returning when I’m back in town.
This hidden gem was worth the 45 minute drive from Spring, TX & well worth our money. The ingredients were fresh & the service was fantastic. The rolls were creative, the flavors paired nicely & the presentation was immaculate. The employee &/or owner who answered the phone, sent the menu order link via text & brought our order curbside was friendly, super appreciative & had great energy. Order ahead, as the food preparation takes a little while, but it is worth the wait. We tried (in order of our #1 favorite to #3 favorite): green goddess, forbidden fruit & lady in red. I look forward to trying everything on the menu.
I order a few rolls for me and my partner and the sushi was delicious!! One of the hardest things to give up going vegan was sushi, but the sushi here was so delicious I was genuinely surprised. Lots of sushi places have veggie rolls, but this isn't just a veggie roll, the rolls have so much flavor, I couldn't believe they didn't have actual fish in them!! It was kind of expensive but it was well worth the price. I can't wait to order again!!
I found this amazing spot after I had a dream about having vegan sushi haha, it was a beautiful reality cause I inhaled the whole thing! Such a delicious, light and healthy choice. The service, communication and neatness of the packaging was beautiful like a piece of art of someone who loves what they're doing! Will be ordering again very soon!
As good as ANY food gets ANYWHERE in the world! Incredible flavors, impeccable presentation, wonderful owner/chef. Made with care and love. We are from the West Coast and are lucky to have amazing vegan and vegetarian options, but this is place is as good as it gets and we will look forward to coming back here soon. It is a take out kitchen so we enjoyed a great picnic at a nearby park. I can’t believe this amazing food can be ordered and pickup up. It doesn’t matter if you’re a vegan or not the flavors beat any sushi you’ll find. Come and enjoy and support a great place and business!
The Vegan Sushi Spot takes sushi to the next level. As a vegan for over a decade one of the things I miss is good sushi. Not here. This is not your “we’ll just take the fish out and now it’s vegan” sushi, but a whole different, innovative and loving approach. You need to try this even if you are not vegan…
It's not your usual restaurant or pick up only window, instead it's a pick up only from the side of a nice home (look for the pick up sign). I like it because I respect the hustle and you can literally say "it's home made" We have picked up from here twice now and the sushi rolls have been amazing. They're freshly made, each are unique & flavorful. The price is justified simply because there aren't many places that offer 100% vegan sushi rolls without having to worry about ingredients. My overall impression is that this is the spot to pick up from for 💯 authentic vegan sushi rolls. I didn't get the gentleman's name, but in the 2 times we have ordered from here, he has been very polite and apologetic for any delays (I'm from NJ and I experienced REAL delays..no delays here lol). My final thoughts are, simply try it even if you're not vegan, I highly recommend trying it out and give them some grace on prep time. Its home made, so I don't mind a few mins of delay. It's located in the arts district, which is vibrant and lively. For dessert, there's Vodoo Donuts a few blocks away.

The vegan sushi was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and made with so much care that every roll tasted amazing. Our takeout order was prepared right on time, and everything was packaged neatly and organized so nothing felt rushed or messy. From start to finish, the whole experience was smooth and enjoyable, and I’ll definitely be ordering from here again.
Amazing, fresh sushi! We are vegan, but I definitely don’t think you need to be to enjoy a good meal here! It’s a pick up order Business, but a perfect spot to grab food to take home or to take with you for a picnic. Our rolls were so colorful, and didn’t even need soy sauce. They already had so much flavor and ingredients on them. My only complaint is that they aren’t in Austin where we live because we would be here all the time 😅
It’s a ghost kitchen, no dine-in (as of 8/30/24). Ordered 5 items today: Green Goddess Lady in Red Spicy Dragon Inari Veggie Roll (classic) The two truly unique items were the Inari and Green Goddess. The flavor and texture are both soooo delicious 🤤 — just try it. The Lady in Red was good. Skinned and boiled tomatoes makeup the ‘tuna’ and they add red popping beads for texture. Spicy dragon roll is basically the classic veggie roll with the avocado wrapped around the outside. Otherwise it’s the same roll: sweet potato, asparagus, cucumber, avocado. Even though everything was delicious, I would recommend studying their menu so you don’t accidentally order two super-similar rolls like I did! Totally coming back to try more rolls. PS please stop killing the beautiful orchids for my lunch, they don’t add anything and it’s such a waste 😭
The good: ---------------- - The food is outstanding (VERY flavorful). - Food is served in cardboard boxes. Thank you for not using plastic utensils. The not-so-good: -------------------------- - This is NOT a sit-in restaurant. In fact, it is not even a restaurant. They operate out of a home, which is VERY hard to find due to a lack of signage. Take-out only. There is a park nearby (Cherryhurst park), where you can sit and eat (if you don’t want to eat in your car). There is also a (run-down) water fountain in the park, if you want to wash your hands (see below). - Strangely, we were not given napkins to wipe our hands after eating. - Water is not provided either. - Food is a VERY pricey (for a take-out only place)
