Tip: If you don't care for an item in the Bento Box, they'll happily substitute it. Be aware that the beef teriyaki may have a smaller portion than the chicken.

The staff and service are great. I enjoy coming here, however I am concerned about their practices to preventcross-contaminationn of chicken and shrimp when the chefs are cooking. I am allergic to shrimp and on multiple occasions, I’ve found a shrimp in my chicken teriyaki and I can’t finish the plate. I hope this is something management has thought about and if not, I hope this is an eye opener and they do put practices in place.
I love chicken terikiaki I love noodles somuch🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 oh mggggg
Great food! If you buy any type of meal there 5 times you get a free chicken teriyaki! Not to forget the tasty dumplings they make. I've bought 2 orders of dumplings cause I love them that much! Totally recommend!
Yummy! This is my favorite place to eat in the mall, and sometimes I come just for the food. Chicken Teriyaki is so delicious that I've never tried anything else on the menu. They are super fast here even when there is a long line.
10/10 service. Food was great, portions were good and everyone was nice.
So delicious! the food here is truly amazing love that we can see the cooks make it right in front of you truly delicious I wish they had a restaurant outside from the mall but it’s fine. The employees are nice! They have everything set out so you don’t need to ask them for utensils, to go bags which is very helpful! Sometimes the place gets packed sometimes they don’t depending which day you go. Other than that! I love this place. & I believe last time I met the manager he gave me their business card which included the rewards system which I’m very excited to use!
They offer free samples at their store, and the taste is delicious
The staff was super friendly, and the food was great. Will definitely come back
My family and I love the Bento Boxes from here. And if there is a item you don't care for they'll happily substitute. There is always a line as it is a popular spot in Memorial City Mall's food court. But don't let that discourage you as the line moves fast. The service is quick and the food is good with their hearty portions.
Great food and fast service 👌
My favorite teriyaki chicken in the area. Located in the food court of the mall. Big portions. Delicious teriyaki sauce
Went here for a quick bite to eat. Time was around 4pm. I was the only person there in front of the stall. Place was well staffed even at that time. Five persons. Cashier, Manager, "Side filler", Griller, and the Teriyaki sauce/bagger. Food still was freshly made. I ordered the chicken with extra serving for 1.79 more. Chicken was well cooked, but still very moist thigh meat. Sauce was a full two scoops. Rice and veg were as expected. Total was under 10 dollars. To those expecting substitutions: please go to a real restaurant. This is mall court food. Recommened if you are hungry and want something quick. Very tasty.

10/10 service. Food was great, portions were good and everyone was nice.
The food is delicious no doubt, but if you claim something to be a specific amount of calories I would expect to see the cooks using food scales or something. My bowl that was supposed to be 345, is actually 500 calories. Can be a little misleading but besides that everything is good 🙂👍
Food was good. Kinda pricy. Very confusing ordering as they hand things out of sequence and don't use order numbers. Also have to ask for all amenities. Had ro ask for soy sauce, napkins, chopsticks, etc. Noisy as hell in the mall due to poor sound control and high ceilings. With the dividers and face masks you have to yell loudly. Not for the soft spoken person.
The food here is always hot and fresh love that, gives good amount of food, I always get chicken teriyaki taste amazing
Overall, the taste here is good. Teriyaki chicken, beef, and shrimp. I recommend the chicken. Portionwise, it's average. Pricewise, it's a little expensive according to the quality and quantity. Nothing surprising. If you feel like having Japanese food at the time you walk by go for it.
Very good mall restaurant. They provide you free samples of food before you commit to making a purchase. The food prep and serving area is very clean and organized. The dining area maintained by Memorial City Mall is kept very clean and sanitized. I highly recommend eating at the Japanese Restaurant establishment.
My sons love the place and they always ask for extra meat the chicken. For me it’s a bit too salty but it taste great with extra rice.
Fresh and good food. I ordered shrimp tempura , beef and shrimp with vegetables ( broccoli and cabbage). The food was ready is about 10 minutes. Find pic attached. I didn’t want any rice . The plate had 90 % cabbage with some broccoli and 10 % of protein .
Had chicken teriyaki with fried rice. I thought the plate came with half steamed veggies instead of full of rice (at least at different locations I've been to), so there was lots of rice and I had to take some home. Overall, the food and the service were good.

Good food for the price. The line was just a bit long so took a while to get served. Mind you, it was lunch time, so I suppose this is understandable, especially being one of the more busier places in the food court.

Although they’re service is great. They have messed up by removing the previous hot sauce they used before to the current one. Willowbrook still uses the old one. If the owner is reading this trust me, bring it back.
***Update 05/19/19 I decided to try Sarku's Beef Teriyaki and it's not as good as the chicken option. Aside from being pricier ($10.00 vs $7.00 for the chicken) The beef portion served is also way less than the chicken; something to keep in mind if you were planning to share your food.*** Sarku's Teriyaki Chicken daily special rocks my portion/value scale with plenty of food served at a great price (order the to-go box) There is quite a line to place your order but it moves pretty quickly. Upon ordering you are given the option of having fried or steamed rice along with vegetables. Here's a tip: ask them to pour extra Teriyaki sauce over your chicken; I found it a bit on the dry side when first served. My Son payed extra for additional chicken but in the ended up taking it home as it was too much food (though a good alternative if you want to split the meal with someone). Overall, Sarku's lunch special is a satisfying, affordable option to consider if eating inside Memorial Mall.

I always see a line at this place, so I decided to try it out. Holy crap everything is just covered in oil and it’s incredibly bland. It’s cool that they cook it in front of you, but it took forever and was extremely bland. They literally squirted oil all over the chicken and noodles while it’s cooking. Also, the workers barely speak Japanese at all despite my best efforts to communicate in their native tongue I was met with silence and Spanish. If you’ve got that Chinese food itch that you need to scratch then go to my boys at Master Wok next-door instead.
Use to come to this place often and never had an issue until today. It was a line (which I never mind) however they cleared everyone up until me and then started to horseplay around like children right in my face and wasn’t making my food until about 5 minutes later. I had the chicken shrimp beef teriyaki bowl , chicken was already to the side cooked but not my beef or shrimp, one of the guys finally start making my beef and shrimp and it was “done” in less than 2 minutes , no teriyaki sauce cooked with it , had to ask for extra on time which he gave it to me with an attitude. Had a strong feeling my food wasn’t cooked all the way and I was right , shrimp still raw and beef could’ve cooked more. $15 wasted

I used to love this place and constantly I have been coming here for 3 years (36 months) since I moved to Houston last 3 years. However, every time I came here, I felt rushed and disrespected a lot. Today, November 6, 2023, I bought a chicken and shrimp with steamed rice and veggies and waited quite long. The long who came after me bought the same chicken and shrimp and his box has a lot of vegetables, chicken and more shrimps than me while my box has no broccoli barely any vegetable and a little chicken. The communication of the Asian guy at the cashier (assuming he’s the boss who takes the payment) was rough and lacks of considerate smoothness in his customer service skills.
I do not recommend this establishment in the mall as I go to others and I’ve never been served as to this way, I bought two chicken teriyaki’s one with fried rice, one with combination and then one combination chicken teriyaki with shrimp with lo mein double meat on two of them I am happy and smiling up until I am seeing that the lo mein they serve for two of the platters, the amount that you usually get for one they literally split it for two of them and then the vegetables it supposed to go on top on all three platters, had nothing but lettuce one had a piece of broccoli and the other two had no veggies so basically I got served half my lo mein and no veggies but yet I paid almost $50. I will never go to this establishment again they are too greedy with their food
My experience at this location was horrible. Not only was the food disgusting and lacking flavor, the woman giving out samples on 4/18/2019 during the day had a staring problem. The entire time we stood to order and waited for our food, she continued to stare at my daughter. My daughter was so creeped out by it and asked me why was she staring so much. Awkward and So creepy. We purposely sat down behind a pillar to eat so that she could not stare at her anymore.
2nd day I have come to this location and it has been closed before the stated time. On top of that the employees are extremely rude and unwilling to help or have a conversation. I end paying for what looks like already packed food one of the employees had an eye on. You take my money but no courtesy of giving me a bag to carry it. Ask for Mayonnaise and all I get if finger pointing to a tin filled with other pepper sauce. Definitely wouldn’t be trying this place out again. Terrible customer service and the food isn’t great.
Restaurant and menu looks nice and we were excited to try the sushi and shrimp teriyaki. After waiting 40 minutes on the line, the cashier said that they were out of any such I and rice...!!! I asked why they do not write/display somewhere so nobody would wait useless if interested in sushi only. He was not interested and concentrated on next client. People in front of me suffered the same and probably half of the people there would face the same. Will never be trying it.
Maybe the worst mall food I had in years. The Bento box is just to avoid. The chicken was tasteless, and far in shape from the pictures in the wall, the rice just ok, but the worst part, the salad was warm and soaked. 100% will never be back.
I don't know who they have in the front of the register on Halloween@ 4:15pm but this Asian guy was rude and on top cusses me in his language. He got my order wrong but instead of correcting it he just yells at me after I've already paid extra. I don't mind paying extra but listen to a customer correctly.. the Hispanic behind the griddle cook was soooo nice and tried to correct it.. bless him. Horrible person at the register... spoiled my meal and my daughter meal was spoiled.. I gave it a 1 just because the Hispanic guys tried to correct it and also apologized... horrible did even eat.
Beside the cold food. Disgusting Service, and attitude. I asked for a simple request the rice to be hot or get heated on the girl, and I got rejected from everybody serving there
Rude, they had a combo special only on Thursday and Wednesday, they advertised right next to the register. I never got the discount that they are advertising. Everyone got there food before me. Mind you I ordered first. Please shut this place down. These guys don’t appreciate their job. Horrible experience. Also no napkins and plastic utensils?
I feel upset and dissatisfied because I ordered a beef bento with noodles and I got rice with beef. They charged me extra and my order arrived incomplete.
Over the years I've been going here. I've always enjoyed their food. But they keep raising the price and that wasn't a problem until they started giving smaller portions for their meats The first picture is from last year, and the second one is from 2 days ago They are now being extremely cheap with the portions and I won't be coming here anymore
My daughter and I do ice skating at memorial mall for past 2 years almost every Thursday and Sunday. Sarku Japan has been my to-go dinning place for 2 years. My daughter will eat something else from food court. Last night, I asked Sarku Japan cashier if they can put rice separate with veggies and chicken, cause my daughter share teriyaki chicken meal with me. The guy said he can’t do it, unless I pay extra. I explained, I do not need more rice, we just need rice separate with everything else, this is how my daughter eats. The cashier still said they can’t do it, only if I pay extra. I don’t want make a big scene on site but why??? His manner was ok but what he expressed was lack of consideration and rude!!! Really Sarku Japan? Christina
I won't come back. I trusted review on google but it was not correct. I had chicken terriyaki with rice. Customer service 1. Taste of food 2. Portion of meat 2. Overall 1. It was busy Saturday, I understand. However there was no concept of customer service. The taste was too blend. No smile from any of Asian staff there. Please learn how to smile and how to attend customer!
The staff forgot part of my order. The lady on the register was on her cell phone and rude. They packed my box with mostly vegetables and very little meat. It wasn't worth it.
Dry.....if anything brings me back to an old childhood memory, that would be my parents bring him to the mall and get an authentic teriyaki plate. This really shut me down, I haven't been to the mall and a few years I come back to expect the same kind of service and start off the chef that the chicken did really crispy and never really topped it off at the end teriyaki sauce. You can tell him Guatemalan didn't care and why I'm being specific because I can tell by the Spanish lingo I'm Mexican myself they didn't care and then let the chicken get crispy burned and they didn't even end it with teriyaki sauce big disappointment.

food was good but my body had a horrible reaction to it. It was the only thing I eaten yesterday so it couldn’t have been anything else and I still feel sick the following day. Probably the overly salted and all the msg from the teriyaki sauce. Can not stop drinking tons and tons of water. The chicken was so rubbery it could have been lab grown.
