It was delicious. We sat on patio. Service was great. Look forward to going back again
I had the most amazing dinner last night at Toulouse and I wanted to give a big shoutout to my server Jenifer. She was great, very accommodating & friendly. She made my night extra special. The manager was also constantly checking in to make sure I was well accommodated. The had a great selection of food as well, I loved everything. I will definitely visit next time when I am back in hosuton !
Went for brunch with my wife and the entrees were excellent. Beef Bourguignon was rich and flavorful, meat was tender and pasta al dente. Best eggs Benedict I’ve ever had. The hollandaise sauce was decadent and the potatoes it comes I think were cooked in butter which made them taste so much better then oil fried. Highly recommend
We often hung out here with friends when I was staying in Houston. We especially loved the desserts—they were excellent. The mussels were very good, and the fish was okay. The place itself is beautiful, with a great atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and provide truly 5-star service, which makes the experience even more enjoyable.
Truly the best service I’ve had in Houston—polished, sophisticated, and incredibly attentive without being overbearing. Every interaction felt seamless and professional, and the pacing of the meal was perfect. The shrimp ceviche and lamb chop special were excellent, and the Daou Sauvignon Blanc was a great pairing. This is officially my Houston go-
Toulouse Café and Bar continues to be one of our favorite dining spots in the city—and for good reason. We started with the escargot, which I can confidently say is the best in Houston—rich, perfectly prepared, and absolutely indulgent. For entrées, I ordered the steak frites and my Hubby chose the salmon. Both were excellent. The steak was deeply flavorful—just a tad overcooked for my preference, but still very enjoyable—and I remain convinced Toulouse serves the best fries in Houston. The salmon was once again outstanding, perfectly cooked and consistently delicious. The Hubby likes his salmon medium and that's exactly what the temperature was. The patio deserves its own mention. If it’s a beautiful day in Houston, we always gravitate toward Toulouse—or Bari Ristorante—because the ambiance is simply unbeatable. Add to that excellent, attentive service, and it’s easy to see why Toulouse is firmly on our list of regular go-to restaurants. Reliable, elegant, and always satisfying.
Toulouse lives up to the hype - fun, eclectic, great food, and lively spot for drinks, finger foods or formal meal. The outdoor patio with DJ and/or live music helps make the experience exciting. In the middle of the River Oaks Shopping District, the restaurant does service to the upscale atmosphere. The wine list is vast and includes a fantastic selection at “reasonable” prices. We ordered oysters, lobster tacos, bisque, charcuterie board, salmon and lamb chops ! The bisque was somewhat bland as were the tacos. But presentation and atmosphere made up for the blandness. Everything else on the menu is excellent ! Especially the charcuterie board. Easy to chat and people watch.
We had such a lovely evening at Toulouse in the River Oaks District. Sitting outdoors on a perfect November night in Houston felt so calm and beautiful — soft lights, a gentle breeze, and that charming Paris café feeling that just makes everything nicer. We shared the lobster bisque to start, and it was rich and comforting. Then we had the crab cake with that creamy sauce, greens, and avocado — so fresh and beautifully done. The smoked salmon was simple and delicious, served with crème fraîche and finely chopped onions that were warmed in the oven so everything blended perfectly. And honestly, Luis made the evening. He was patient, attentive, and really knew what he was doing. Just lovely service. We ended with profiteroles — warm dark chocolate poured over pastries filled with gelato. Such a perfect, indulgent finish. Overall, it was one of those nights where everything just came together — great food, perfect weather, and that little touch of Paris right here in Houston. Really a lovely experience.
The food here is AMAZING. Also the outdoor dining is lovely, such a great relaxing vibe. I came here with my mom and a friendly and we have a very nice long lunch. We started out with some drinks and the zucchini squash chips which were so amazing I would highly recommend. Our server was very polite and professional, sensing that we were not in a rush, so she didn’t come bother us a lot or press us to order then pay. For my main dish I got the tuna Niçoise salad which was unlike nicoises I’ve had in the past but in a very good way. There was no lettuce, it was just the normal ingredients of a Niçoise salad chopped up and mixed in a dressing/sauce topped with tuna. I’ve been thinking about it since because it really was so good. It definitely isn’t super big or filling so if that’s all you’re getting to eat just know that. Overall this place was great, great food, great service, great vibes. The shopping district it is in is also great so I fun place to stop while shopping!
I had an amazing experience here! The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming you can tell they truly care about their guests. The food came out super quick, and the quality was absolutely amazing everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Emmanuel was our chef that night, and he did an incredible job! Every dish was made with care and tasted fantastic. Whether you’re visiting Texas or just looking for a great spot for a family meal or a nice date, I’d definitely recommend this restaurant. I’ll absolutely be coming back!
Went here for the first time for my good friend’s birthday tonight! Great service, the server is slick my water was always filled and sometimes I didn’t even notice them refilling it. The placement / timing of each dish was perfect. And of course the food was amazing! You can tell Chef Emmanuel put a lot of work into his craft with these dishes!!!
Dining at Toulouse in River Oaks is always a treat, but what truly sets the experience apart is Chef Darwin. His culinary artistry is simply exquisite—every dish reflects a perfect balance of flavor, texture, and presentation. From the first bite to the last, it feels like a journey through the finest traditions of French cuisine, elevated with his own thoughtful touch. What makes Chef Darwin exceptional is not only his mastery in the kitchen but also his genuine care for each guest. He takes the time to ensure that every plate is prepared with precision and that dietary preferences are honored without compromise in quality. It’s rare to meet a chef who combines world-class skill with such personal attention. River Oaks is fortunate to have Toulouse, and Toulouse is truly fortunate to have Darwin leading its kitchen. If you want a dining experience where passion, flavor, and hospitality come together seamlessly—this is the place. Bravo, Chef Darwin!
I had an absolutely fantastic dinner here. I sat in the enclosed outdoor patio, which has a nice romantic ambiance. There are also plenty of tables outside for a more casual experience. Service was exceptional; our waitress patiently answered all our questions and made sure we were stocked up on beverages. Food was excellent and filling. Obviously this is a pricier restaurant but the desserts were a generous size. This was a perfect date spot but I'll come back to check out the brunch as well.
We had a fantastic dining experience at Toulouse restaurant! We love RIVER OAKS DISTRICT ! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was vibrant and inviting. The live music added a wonderful touch, enhancing the overall experience. Pasta absolutely delicious 🍝 The wine selection was impressive, and our choice perfectly complemented our meal. 🍷 Overall, Toulouse offers a great combination of excellent food, a lively ambiance, and delightful live music. Highly recommended for a memorable night out! 🥂❤️
I spent a lovely Sunday at Toulouse Café and Bar in River Oaks with friends, soaking up the sun over a relaxing brunch that felt like a little Parisian escape. The outdoor seating is gorgeous, creating such a charming vibe, and the live music really set the mood—a talented duo with amazing voices made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The food was good, satisfying and tasty, though not mind-blowing. The service, however, was excellent. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. Would I go back? Definitely. Between the beautiful setting, live music, and solid food, it’s a spot I’d happily revisit.
Went here for a birthday party and I heard a lot about it. The food was very good! Outstanding chef! The service was decent but the wait staff kept bumping into us and reaching over food. The atmosphere was good because of the company, not so much the restaurant. I think it wants to be exclusive but it didn't stand out to me. Food is priority number one for me so I might be back. Will have to talk to the wait staff though.
This was a very nice restaurant. Our server Tony was great. We started with the rose all day punch which was great, the more the berries melt the better. This was followed by the brie appetizer, also outstanding. I got the French toast and my friend got the crab cake Benedict. We both agreed the French toast was on par with our other items, fantastic. However, she wasn't the biggest fan of the crab cakes. She mentioned it lack a touch of seasoning and one egg was over cooked. These were small issues and we both would love to come back.
Greatly disappointed. My beed birginon was really greasy and there was more pasta than meat. Hamburger was not good either. Frito misto was ok. The brie and the steak tartar ok. Steak and pommes frites was the only good plate.
Friday date night with my sweet Gentleman - heard that Toulouse had the best espresso martini in town, and they were making their old fashioned with Garrison Bros. We have been to Lombardi and were excited about trying Toulouse. We made a quick reservation planned to sit at the bar and have dinner and cocktails. Toulouse is beautiful - its a complete vibe. The patio was packed the restaurant was packed - we easily grabbed two seats at the bar - and were waited on almost immediately. My espresso martini was good - not sure if it is the best in town -but good. I ordered an old fashioned for my Gentleman - the bartender made it with house whiskey - ( Jim Beam) I wish he wouldve let us know that in advance - and adjusted the price accordingly. It wasnt good. When we asked about it -he let us know that they were out of the bourbon - I wish he wouldve let us know in advance or offeed him a comparable bourbon. Small, yes. but when you talk your Gentleman into a fancy date night - you dont want him disappointed! We decided not to stay for dinner - I hope to go back for brunch on the patio - I hope I can talk him into returning with me.
My family and I came here today 9/3 to celebrate my bday with my family , we came in with no reservation and we came around 8:45pm. Gladly we got a table, restaurant was empty. Unfortunately, we had to order food quickly since one of the staff told us they will close the kitchen in 15 minutes so we had to order soon and quick. I wasn’t able to place an order for dessert, a bit disappointed though. Food was good and our server was very nice and helpful with food choices.
One word review, "Eh." If I may describ this place a bit more, I'd give food 6/10, service was not good at all (4/10), but a decent atmosphere, considering the price, which is ridiculously expensive for the quality of food. We ordered NY strip steak and duck leg. It would have been better to go to a local country bar for a better steak and a local Chinese restaurant for juicier $20 Bejing duck. If you have extra money to spend and want to feel a little fancy and special for valet parking and a glass of drink, feel free to go for it.
Everything was going fine until a roach crawled up from behind a divider into our seating area. We informed the server, who said, “He's a server, not maintenance.” He left the roach for us to handle. The manager came by and said it came from outside because the door was open. This wasn't an outside roach. All she asked was if we wanted to sit somewhere else. It was very hot in there I'm pretty sure the doors were open because they didn't have air conditioner. I didn't see anyone clean the area or anything. It wasn’t handled in a way that felt reassuring.
Writing this review and giving 1 star just because the lady in the front (white lady with curly blonde hair wearing red dress and a black blazer) was SO SO rude & looking to us and to our outfits. She must be trained to smile to customers and greet them well. We came in for brunch. I live in the area and came in with 2 of my girlfriends. We wearing regular blue long sleeve tops with pants. Server was nice and food was good.
