Went after a local hike. Staff were lovely. Got some burgers and it's was brilliant value for money.

Nice pub. Standard pub food. The staff are friendly and they were helpful. Nice location as well.

Lovely pub with a practical outdoor space. Few picnic tables under a polycarbonate roof letting sunrays in. Dog friendly outside and inside (in certain areas). Car park for approximately 40 cars. Outside is a bit loud from delivery trucks, garbage trucks and guests driving in/out so if your dog is skittish consider sitting inside. The fish and chips as well as crumble were good and served reasonably quickly. The service was also good but the food has to be ordered at the till.

Booked for a midweek lunchtime, and glad we did as the place was quite busy. A nice welcome and shown to a lovely area opposite the fireplace. I'd heard the food was good but never expected it to be this good. My wife chose the Vegetable Wellington, and it looked so impressive that it brought approval from nearby diners. That doesn't often happen with Veggie dishes. Apparently it lived up to it's appearance and was delicious. I had the steak and mushroom pie...again a sizeable portion which was absolutely first class. Don't miss out on this place...we loved it.

Booked in for a Boxing Day meal for two people. Having visited when it was under previous management we hoped that it had maintained its high standards and we weren’t disappointed. Served an excellent, piping hot meal which was home cooked and tasted delicious. Very friendly and helpful staff who made every effort to make us welcome, especially Nicola. Thank you for making our meal special. We will definitely be visiting again.

Lovely village pub that serves excellent food and has lovely staff. We stopped for lunch and sat in the dog friendly bar, the staff were very friendly and helpful and took our orders promptly. The food was delicious and well cooked, between us we had a boneless bacon chop, bangers and mash, steak pie and fish and chips. The only issue was that the battery in the fish was a little thick, but it was all eaten so couldn't have been that bad. We will definitely be going back.

We stopped in Holmfirth and needed a restaurant to eat, and found this pub/restaurant on the corner and decided to give it a try. Absolutely unbelievable food and service, we ended up getting engaged after the dinner as was planned. But every year we are coming back to this dining place as it was just outstanding quality. Well done.

arrived 1:35pm on wednesday, after hiking . the lunch special £10 for a drink and small meal is worth to consider if you are not hungry, the berry and apple crumbles with custard was tasty and in good portion size. custard was come in a small jug. The kind waiter gave one more custard jug when we asked more. the belly pork bites were tender and delicious but they were salty due to soy sauce added. my recommendation for the belly pork bites is no added soy sauce. the small fish and chips was good.

Very friendly staff and beautiful surroundings... Huge free carpark Set in an idyllic country village this huge venue has a private function suit upstairs with bar. With ample seating to accommodate large parties in the bar, dining rooms and function suit. 😎

A great place for a bite to eat and a well served pint. Lots of other drinks on the bar too. Good food on the menu and a nice lunchtime deal for a meal and a drink. Outside seating for good weather days. Views of Castle Hill too 😎

Had the tator tots as a starter and the cheese and onion pie as a main, everything was really good, one of the best gravy and mash I’ve had in a while, enjoyed the fact that the vegetables on the plate where nicely cook and not overcrowded, sometimes with a pie or a roast the veggies are a lot and just thrown on the plate, in here they were well done and not overcrowded which was lovely for me, the staff was supper nice and I would definitely return to try a couple more stuff.

Popped in for meal at the golden cock, we had heard good things about the place. It is a beautiful pub/restaurant. Staff very friendly and attentive. The food was great! We did wait longer than expected for food but it was busy for a Tuesday night. We will definitely be back again.

Been up recently for Sunday lunch and the staff were so lovely and helpful ! The restaurant look rather busy but the staff managed to squeeze us in for lunch anyway. The service was very fast to say how busy it was. The best part was the dessert, I had a baileys doughnut and it was TO DIE FOR. Overall 10/10 experience will definitely be back soon!!!!

Visited The Golden Cock over the weekend and had a wonderful time. The service was excellent, we were made to feel very welcome and were shown to our table straight away. I had the southern fried chicken burger while my husband opted for the steak and ale pie. Both were lovely, followed by the crumble to share for pud. All in all we had a lovely afternoon and will definitely be returning.

I arranged wedding here for my nephew. What can I say, it was fabulous. So accommodating, menu was perfect and worked for all dietary requirements directly with the chef. Service was just as perfect. Attentive but distanced like a well oiled machine. We dined here a few times leading up to and after the wedding and there was no difference in quality and choice. I would highly.recommend this venue as they offer a homely personal touch with good food, large selection of drinks and exemplary service!

Had a wonderful birthday dinner for the inlaws. Ordered some beautiful mac and cheese on the side, aswell as solid onion rings. Our table ordered 3 steaks, all of them were cooked to the requested temp. All deserts tasted awesome. Special mention for a good beer selection and being pet-friendly. Would definetly come again.

We came for our evening meal and loved the place. Lots of period exposed stone and timber beams and open fire place, a really nice place to be. The food was superb, cooked perfectly and piping hot. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive. As a family of 4 we managed three courses and a couple of drinks each and all for £130. Excellent value in my book and I definitely recommend a visit.

Decided at 1200 that we would eat there at 1300 and successfully followed the online booking process. This was our first visit. Wow what a lovely place. Nice menu. Karen had the steak sandwich, I had the beetroot falafel wrap which was exceedingly tasty ! The skin on fries were perfect with both dishes. Vanilla ice cream to finish, along with a really nice cuppa tea. It was a very quiet Monday lunchtime so the car park was empty, but anyway, there's quite a lot of space out there. So, on the whole, a very pleasant experience. We'll be back.

Really can’t fault this place, excellent service and lovely real ale. Food is good, all freshly prepared. Lovely location too in Farnley Tyas.

Spot on. In particular the fries, so many places skimp on the quality of the fries but not here. Dirty burger was fit.

We came here for a works meeting to venture out from our own pubs and we were very impressed! Nice, clean warm pub with a welcoming atmosphere. We all ordered off the main menu with some bar snacks as starters and I had half a chicken whilst my husband had the steak and our friends got the chicken schnitzel, all of which were absolutely Devine! Ben looked every us very well ensuring we had drinks and everything was okay. Will definitely be coming back. Well done Ben and keep it up, from Two Pointers and Derwent Arms! :)

I was very fortunate to celebrate my 80th birthday in your upstairs room on Monday 30th December. The buffet was outstanding, such a variety of excellent food. The service was also excellent and all my guests thoroughly enjoyed the occasion. Many thanks, Pam and Richard Cook.

A favourite place for a family meal. Lovely location, and the food and service is always good. Mash and roasties in particular are amazing.

Delicious food and great to find somewhere local that provide plant based options for both adults and kids along side pub classics, a well considered menu with something for everyone. Despite it being busy the staff were really friendly and helpful, they were all willing to give time and answer any questions. We'd not been for a few years after a bad experience so I assume it's under new management so we will definitely be back!

Pub is beautiful with a lovely rustic feel. My husband and I shared the sharer platter for a starter and it was fabulous. The burgers were really moist, and the pie was choc full of hunks of meat. Will be back!

What a great place! Table for 13 of us. Preordered our starters and mains. All our meals were delicious, and served hot. Lovely staff, nice building and atmosphere. It was my first time there, but it won't be my last. Highly recommend 👌👍🏻

The Golden Cock Pub is a local gem. The food is outstanding - nothing on the menu disappoints, but the Southern Fried Chicken Burger is a standout. The pub's location is perfect for a scenic walk, and we love making the trip there as locals. The Sunday pub quiz is always a great time, adding to the fun atmosphere. Ben and Ellie, the owners, are incredibly welcoming and make every visit special. Highly recommend!

We called for a beer after work as the weather was lovely for October. The bar had a nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly. The food looked good, thought we didn't eat.

Lovely restaurant in a beautiful village and beautiful views if you take a short walk after your meal. The staff were friendly and the vibe was welcoming. The food was very tasty but all three of us felt the main dish portions were small (i only got 17 chips) On the positive side that left us plenty of room for desert which was excellent. If you like to have starters, main and a desert then the portions are probably fine and they won’t be wasting food. However we hadn’t been before and went straight for the main and compared with other places it wasn’t enough. Certainly a nice place to go again and try another dish from their menu

The Golden Cock is a great pub and restaurant that serves many dishes with very attentive staff and a lovely cosy atmosphere. The calamari had a nice batter to it and seasoning plus it wasn’t too chewy. The fish and chips were very nice and no complaints taste wise although the amount you get for how much you pay isn’t quite right with it being a little bit expensive. Altogether it is a nice place to go for a meal.

Drove by this beautiful building called The Golden Cock. Thought we would give it a try. Took my family to enjoy the experience and can I say we were not disappointed . Food lush ( large portions) ambient atmosphere (great at our ages), very relaxing, Lucas n Joseph amazing. Thank you for making our 1st experience with you top notch. See ya very very soon. Xx🍽🍷🍺🍹

Had a chicken burger with gravy dipping sauce and chips. Burger was delicious. Bit stingy on the chips!

M

Had the light bite menu on a late pm Thursday. Small fish and chips and a pint of Landlord for £12 was excellent value followed by superb apple and raspberry crumble. Staff very attentive and friendly.

R
Ruby Stevens

Toasty, cozy pub! I had dinner with my friends here and the service was quick and friendly. Very warm inside!

M
Marie Vickers

Party for 8 catered for, pate needed a slice more. Salmon was perfect except the portion size of pasta with pesto sauce. Doughnut to finish. I was not has full for a 3 course as expected. Spent lots of money with over 6 bottles of wine. Everything was very good. Just a bit more on the mains . A 1st timer to the restaurant

D
David Binks

Sadly not as good as I remember it. Distinctly average starters and Sunday roast. For £20 for the trio of meats i was hoping for something slightly better executed. 3 x small roasties were a bit wan. Greens miles over cooked. Pork was ok but beef and chicken very dry. Service was decent however. Been in the past and had higher expectations. Sorry but don't think we'll be back

G

Sunday lunch was okay but very average.Very unimaginative over priced prawn cocktail to start with.Main course was not too bad, chicken a bit dry, needed more gravy.Coffee served with mini dessert was not even luke warm. Friendly but forgetful service, kept forgetting to bring things.Had better but that's how it was, rather disappointing after it being recommended to us.

Very disappointing. As a family of 5 we decided to try here for a change. At a Saturday tea time it was quiet inside, we were shown to our table. This was very close to a table with a young family on, even though there were many more appropriate tables available. We were then left with tatty menus and sticky tables for about 15 minutes before we called someone over to get some drinks. Eventually we ordered food, this was also far below expectations. Two of us had ordered lasagne and paid extra for garlic bread the total cost of this dish then being £18! The garlic "pizza" bread was clearly from a supermarket and had been cooked to a crisp, the dish also came with the tiniest side salad perched on the side of a board. Another of us had ordered pie, this looked homemade but was mostly pastry. A mixed grill was also ordered which was the smallest ever with the steak being ordered medium to rare but came well done. This was a birthday meal out, we didn't complain as we all just wanted to eat at the same time without any fuss or confrontation. But after this experience we unfortunately won't be back.

We went today at 5pm for a family meal. We all chose the Sunday roast. Beef had run out so most of us had chicken & pork. It was like shoe leather and cold. Vegetables were missing off plates as was stuffing. Waitress was resetting a table and dropped cutlery on floor. She picked it up and continued to set the table with it. I had lemon meringue pie for dessert without the meringue! A cut up strawberry was in it's place. My sons dessert also came minus the cream & they had replaced it with custard. £126.00 this cost us. Disgusting really. Was told we couldn't have a reduction in price so the knocked two soft drinks off the menu instead. All around us were disgruntled customers. We won't be returning. It's not the place it used to be.
