We come here often... The food is always very good & fresh... This kinda surprised us in the beginning, thinking that a "diner" might be mediocre or unpredictable. One comment though - they apparently changed their salmon from wild caught to farm raised... it used to be delicious... as good as you'd get in any nice fish restaurant, now it's below average with that strong fishy taste. Everything else is great though! Also, the staff is very friendly & efficient, they have nice outdoor seating where dogs are welcome, & a nice bar area with sports on the multiple TVs.
We travel over 20 miles to visit our favorite restaurant...then we go see the grandkids! Really an outstanding restaurant. Great breakfasts. Food is very good.
Great service. Great food. My family and I went around 10am on a Thursday and there was no wait. Even though they were understaffed they were on it. I couldn't stress enough how amazing the staff was. Thank you for all you do during such a difficult time. Even though we couldn't see your smiles we knew you were. Hopefully in due time restaurants will stop doing everything they're told to do and allow vaccinated employees to not wear masks so e can go back to being more personable and seeing their smiles. Be more like In N Out.
Amazing old school spot! The servers love the local Ben coming for years this is a 10/10
The food was great. My daughter was disappointed with the menu changes as it resulted in her favorite item being removed. But they had the ingredients to makeit for her one last time. Great patio for us and our dog. Super server tgat made the experience a good one.
Woody's Diner is a fun place. The atmosphere is lively, the staff is great and the restaurant is very clean compared to most. There's an outside patio and welcome pets. They do a good job turning over the tables during peak hours, your food generally comes to your table within 15-10 mins after ordering. The portions are of good size, we can have breakfast for a family of 6 for under $55. So, it tends to be our breakfast routine on the weekends. I can't recall a time we were disappointed with the food or the service.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff. I had the chili cheese dog with fries which I highly recommend. The hot dog was butterflied and cooked very well. The fries were seasoned well and nice & crunchy.
Good food. Everything open inside. Have to wear your mask until you sit down at your table. Great beer selection with a full bar. They make their own craft beer with offerings changing weekly. Best french dip in town
Great food, great food choices, good service, and a nice atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant over others in the area. 🙂
The service is usually pretty good. Dogs are welcome on the patio but no dog menu like lazy dog. There are two patios. Great milkshakes! There are a ton of choices! Even peanut butter and banana I think. Good food! The ultimate grilled cheese is amazing! The French dip is excellent also!
First time getting to dine in a restaurant and nearly 2 months it was a fantastic experience. This is not a complaint just a heads up that condiments aren't on the table you have to ask for them. it's absolutely awesome to be able to eat in a restaurant again!! #@aliciamedina
Always great & friendly service. Food, always delicious and comes out fast. Husband and I eat breakfast there almost every week. Lunch there last week, delicious as well. Cobb salad and tacos!
We enjoy going here for breakfast or dinner. Good variety of selections from their menu. Prices are appropriate for the portions. The wait staff are always friendly and fast. Usually a sizeable amount of people in the bar area having a good time. The root beer floats are huge! The beef dip sandwiches are one of the best I've eaten locally and I'm always searching for the best.
I'm a huge fan of Woody's, having eaten at both the Adam's Avenue & Pacific Coast Highway Locations. I mainly like their breakfast options and the service here is always attentive. Sometimes there can be a wait, in which there is also bar seating available. I like that they add new options to the menu, so I have tried some rather different plates here. This type of general diner food always satisfies my early cravings and is decently priced. It also has pet friendly outdoor seating for leashed dogs.
Great atmosphere, not too noisy. Excellent service! The food was good - nothing extravagant. My meal was something I make often at home. I would recommend.
Prompt friendly host , clean bathrooms, expected but prompt wait time for food and drinks. Clean tables, smiles all around , a lil on the higher end for dinning prices but not by much and well worth the pricing, and finally food made to east coast standards not westcoast impersonations.
There’s something timeless about Woody’s Diner in Huntington Beach , it feels like stepping into a California postcard. upbeat staff, generous portions, and that “locals know” vibe. Their milkshakes are a must-try creamy, old-school perfection. If you’re visiting or thinking of moving to the area, make this your first stop after the beach. You’ll get a true taste of HB life; friendly faces, sandy flip-flops, and comfort food done right. As a local realtor in Huntington Beach, I love introducing clients to gems like this… perfect place for breakfast with the kids !
I stopped by here to get some lunch and the food was good. The service was great and the atmosphere is really quiet and pleasant too.
I thought this was just going to be an average cafe/diner. Was I wrong! Food was great, beers nicely poured and the staff was phenomenal. I will be back soon! July 15, 2021 Family and I came back again, and the food was even more phenomenal than last time! Spinach Avocado Tuna Wrap, Honey Mustard Chicken Sandwich coleslaw, beer fries, beef vegetable beef soup… delicious!

Food solid. Friendly staff, clean. Nice bar area with TVs.
Very good food and very nice servers
Everything was great. Jessica was so attentive. She was the best !!!
We love this place. They’re amazing! The food is so good every time we go there we try to order an extra thing to take home so we can try everything on the menu The wait staff is awesome and on top of that; the manager even came out to greet us when we got there after we had called to see if they were busy I could not say anything better about this place except for the fact they serve amazing beer as well ! However, I do wish their selection had a few more options, but I do like some of their beers Much love to the entire staff
Ordered carry out tonight Elaine had waited on me & was very nice & friendly, went above & beyond helping me with my order Fantastic Service Thank you
Love it, go there all the time, especially for Sunday morning breakfast. Great staff, great food!
Really enjoyed my breakfast here..seemed like it was a lot of food for a good price.

I enjoy what I eat here and employees are nice to me when I'm there. Unfortunately the reason I'm writing this review is to save some people time. DO NOT bother trying to call in a to go order on a Friday or Saturday night. For some reason they don't train their hosts to take orders, so you have to wait for a server, who are all swamped and forget that they were asked to take a phone order...or just ignore it and hope you eventually hang up. Tried this at least 3 times because it works out when theyre not busy, not sure why I keep trying on busy nights. Edit: a few years since they have done much better and 4/5 times I do not have this problem anymore.
The wait staff were so good. Very friendly and efficient! You know, the people that take care of you have such a big impact on how much you enjoy your meal at a restaurant. Everyone of the people that waited on us was wearing a mask, but you could feel their smiles. Maybe because we are currently so limited in our interactions with others this personal touch from staff is even more appreciated than usual. The food was good. Salad dressing watery but a nice flavor. Fries a little soggy, but not bad. Pattymelt good and club sandwich was tasty but a little dry (per my husband). We sat outside at a picnic table on the grass with an umbrella providing shade. Still close enough to the beach to feel a nice reliable breeze. Staff kept our drinks well-filled. Overall a nice experience.
Food and service is great! I especially love the authentic Reuben sandwich with sauerkraut. The Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce is divine. I've sat outside, which has been nice, but I'd recommend that they service the heaters so they all work. It's uncomfortable to be seated by one that is not working when it's chilly.
Pleasing retro automobile and surf woodie wagon decor. Burger was good. Nice to have a choice between fries and onion rings. Friendly, polite staff. Service was fair. Had to keep asking for things, including drink refills. We brought a cake and they gave us plates, etc which was appreciated. Some of our group stayed a bit longer to chat and catch up. No one ever arrived to clear the tables after 30 minutes when we departed which I thought was odd.
I ordered the dinner chicken fried steak with extra gravy. It was very good. This restaurant is adding a surcharge now plus tax. My tip did NOT include the tax & surcharge in the total bill. No way am I going to tip including those charges.
It was good, tho I was told about a different dish I should've tried! Sounded good but didn't see it. Guess I'll have to try that next time!
Update 6/3: They have added a 3% CDC PPE charge on the bill? Not sure why. They’ve been open throughout while other businesses were shut down and now once everybody is open they add a 3% “tax”. Sorry but it’s not worth it to drive from LB to get taxed. Love! Love! Love! Place is great. Awesome healthy breakfast items as well kids menu for under 6 bucks with food leftover Great vibe as they are all about freedom! Definitely will be making this my breakfast spot from now on.
Good service, usually not to noisy so you can talk to your friends. Nice variety on the menu.

Food was okay. Place was not busy but the food took forever to come out and was pretty much cold by the time we got it. Server was nice and sweet to our dog but we only saw her when she brought our food, water for the dog and our bill. Orange location isn't great either, do yourselves a favor and take the drive to the Sunset Beach location instead.
First experience, we waited 20 minutes after being seated for service. Food took a long time. The food was good, but service through our experience still lacked. They forgot to put BBQ sauce on my BBQ burger. Second experience seated and served faster, but still lacking, even though they were not busy. Again, they forgot to put the BBQ sauce on my BBQ burger. Overall not impressed. Price point is good, but service needs improvement.
My sister and I meet for breakfast once a month. The food is always good but this time the atmosphere was totally different. The person who greeted and showed us to a table seemed as if she didn't want to be there. No smile. She put the menus on the table and walked away. The restaurant was dark because the shutters were closed. The employees didn't seem happy. I wonder if there are new owners? It's not the same Woodys.
The food was acceptable and the theme was nice however there were ants all over some of the walls, overall wouldn't come back.
A restaurant with plenty of options, including breakfast served all day. We used to go here regularly but the last few times the food has been pretty mediocre. The service has always been fantastic, at least. They also allow dogs on their patio, which is a plus. My go to was always a patty melt but the last few times it's been overly greasy with undercooked meat and lacking flavor. My husband is always pleased with his breakfast items. He's a big fan of the breakfast burrito and some of the scrambles. Overall, it's an ok spot for a cheaper sit down meal.
Woody's Diner. I went here Wednesday and there was no wait. We sat down and ordered our drinks which where good. Didn't take long to get our food and I ordered some chicken and fries. ChickenTenders: The Chicken was cooked well and was pretty good but the skin had an odd taste to it and was burnt. (Salted) FrenchFries: The French Fries were actually really good, salted well and perfect texture! Lemonade: The Lemonade was good, nice and cold with ice. Service: Nothing special not bad but not really good.
Tasted and seemed like frozen little flat biscuits, and chicken fried flat compressed steak. Flavorless scrambled eggs not fluffy at all. Home fried potatoes were OK questionable as to whether they were frozen. Weird looking flavorless white gravy. Nothing seemed fresh or homemade. Very dissatisfied with this breakfast.

I am amending the review I left almost a year ago. If it wasn’t for what happened last evening I would leave it at five stars, but I was very disappointed when I got the check that they’ve added some sort of unspecified surcharge to the bill. If they need to raise their prices due to the inflation that we’re undergoing, so be it, but I don’t like getting hidden charges put on the bill that I wasn’t expecting. I question the server about this charge, and they did nothing to correct it. Hopefully the management will take note of this and address it and stop doing this unfair practice. Previous review I provided from February 2021: We have been dining at Woody’s diner for years. It’s a great local place with friendly service and good size portions. The food is delicious and served in a attractive appetizing way. The atmosphere is great if you like nostalgia and a surfing theme. The staff here adheres to the rules as far as mask wearing, and I look forward to the day were it’s no longer mandated by the governor.
In addition to the declining food, I ordered the 2 egg breakfast, how on earth does that come out bland? Husband ordered a veggie omelette he said was not only undercooked it made him ill. Our bartender/ manager had no personality other than rude, and we didn't even complain until we left, she definitely pick and chooses her choice of customer where she is friendly towards. How does that make sense, we don't frequent thos place often at all, although we live locally, we usually go to Zubies or G's boathouse where were always treated with friendly staff, I did speak with manager/bartender after we paid and left a 20% tip reluctantly and she was irritated by the phone call and asked me to make it quick, as locals and business owners this location is a disgrace, an embarrassment to The HB community. Its a shame ot exists on our HB grounds.. we'll stick to our usual spots on the weekend when not traveling. Terrible place and awful manager/ bartender who represents this place and location.
I ordered a cheeseburger with onion rings and my wife ordered breakfast. The cheeseburger came with a bun so hard I had to return it. They came back with a fresh bun but by then the burger and the onion rings were pretty much cold. My wife's breakfast was barely warm but she said it was tasty. Probably won't be coming back here honestly. No shortage of good restaurants in Huntington Beach.
Been in the area just over 6 months, was told to check this place out. It was around 630 on a week day No one was behind the bar, took 15 minutes to get a beer order. I eventually placed an order for the Fish and Chips, It looks like it was cremated w a flame thrower. Very tough and hard to chew .The fries were ok, but I took 2 bites of the fish and politely asked for the check. Bar staff barely acknowledged me at the bar, there were maybe 5 ppl in that section. I suppose you need to be a regular to get better service. Doubtful I return here.
We have been customers at this Woody's location (and several other locations) since they opened, and live close so we come here at least once a month. Unfortunately it is nowhere near the quality and cleanliness that we are used to anymore. We were seated in a booth near the bar. I noticed A LOT of fruit flies as soon as we sat down, a filthy broom and pan leaned up against the wall next to us and the back of the TV above us was covered in dust. We asked to move to a different table. Our 2nd table looked like it hadn't been wiped properly in a while and had crumbs on top. Underneath the table was also covered in food, napkins and broken crayons etc. My son was very hungry and against my better judgement we stayed. I then went to use the ladies room and couldn't believe how filthy it was. My photos include pics from under our 2nd table, the dented and rusted trash can in the restroom, dust covered ceiling vent and paper all over the floor. They were not busy and there were plenty of staff which indicates that no one that works there from management all the way down cares about safe food practices or the guest's experience. Their prices have gone up while the quality and cleanliness is at an all time low. It takes weeks or months to accumulate the amount of fruit flies, dust build up and filth and I was so grossed out that I couldn't eat. I don't write reviews often but it was honestly disgusting and unfortunately we won't be back to one of our favorite local spots.

I don't know where my review went so I'll keep this one short. This place has seriously gone down hill while prices have gone up and service fees have been tacked on. By the time I got my last meal here, after they had corrected it 3 times, everything was cold and bland. The flies epoxied into the stables speak a lot for the ambiance.
I order a beef soup and it was cold , I asked the server and seems like she did not like it , also you are still eating having a conversation with your family and the bus boy is in a hurry to pick up your plates and I really don’t like that. The prices are really high for the size of the plates
