The service is quick and professional and they're happy to go off menu. The prices are more than reasonable, the portions are generous and the food is excellent.. The decor inside is INCREDIBLE, it's like walking into an opera house, beautiful sculptures and chandeliers everywhere. There is shaded outside seating on a busy pedestrian street which also has a great vibe. I highly recommend checking it out!

It is great coffee and hard working people. They are always absolutely packed and the waiters do what they can. The main reason why I give 5 stars is because of the televisions. All of the TV’s always have the important football games on. It is one of the only places in la línea to actually resemble a sports bar of some sort

Great bar and cafe, great selection of drinks and food options. It is a place that is always busy with locals so you know it is a good place to stop for a drink or bite to eat. Interior is of a classical style and renovated nicely to keep that charm the wooden classic Cafe seating also are comfortable and in keeping There is also seating upstairs and outside with heating provided for the chilly winter month's. There are menus available in either Spanish (as you would think as being in Spain) and in English. People watch your heart out here or enjoy the company and if that is not working for you there is always the free WiFi available to you. If this review is helpful please give a like.

Stunning! A temple to coffee. Built in 1902 this takes coffee drinking to a new level. Either to escape the midday heat or to relax and people watch in the evening, this is a must do if you are in La Linea. Very stylish and clearly judging by the locals in attendance a place to be seen. The art deco interior is other worldly. The coffee is also some of the best I have ever had. 5 stars for sure!

Es un sitio que conozco desde que era pequeño. Bastante bonito y en pleno centro. Muy buena opción para tomar un café. Lo único hecho en falta más variedad de pasteles y helados aunque los que tienen están bastante bueno pero la verdad es que la oferta es muy escasa.

Este café está en la Calle real de la Linea de la Concepción. Lo más destacable es el interior de este café que es un antiguo casino, precioso. Merece la pena visitarlo por el edificio en si mismo, aparte de esto como cafetería, tienen los cafés típicos y todo tipo de bebidas. El servicio es rápido y amable. Justo en frente hay una confitería y te permiten consumir los dulces en esta cafetería.

Está situado en la calle Real. El interior es muy bonito con unas escaleras impresionantes. Nosotros estuvimos en las mesas qué tienen en la calle. El servicio es bastante rápido. Enfrente hay una pastelería. El dueño nos dijo que podíamos comprar pasteles y consumirlos en su local.

I've visited Modelo many times. It is consistent, I'd say. The good things outweigh the not so good, mostly of which relate to two or three staff (not all) who are in the wrong jobs (as are their bosses who let their poor body language and almost moody facial expressions/attitudes carry on). The good - architecture, big TVs, good table service (most of the time), air conditioning inside and, when it's hot, outside too. The latter is a brilliant effort and unique in La Linea as far as I've experienced. The toilets are up to NW European standards (so, so rare in Spain) - I reckon they are the best you will probably come across in southern Spain in any cafe/bar! The 'chips' are the some of the best in La Linea. There are only one or two vegetarian dishes but there should be vegan offerings - and there are not any I could see. The vegetarian sandwich is a good snack. The negative....One of two of the staff, at the till in particular, are rude and very unwelcoming. One girl in particular doesn't make any eye contact at all with any customer; she almost snatches the bill away after totally ignoring them for a while, doesn't ever smile, doesn't say 'was everything alright' or 'thank you', or anything - not a word to anyone....it's truly awful and she should 100% work in another job. Sometimes, the waiting staff need to tidy up more quickly - the floor/tables is/are a bit of a mess at times, but I think this is recognised as a challenge and being addressed, judging by conversations I overhear. More regular cleanliness checks on the bathrooms would benefit, as would stopping non-customers using them. Also, please, Spanish men, if you are reading this, realise that urinals are there to use, not the toilet bowl compartment...perhaps some signs to overcome this male, Spanish cultural issue!? ;-) The noise inside can be loud. It is exacerbated by the echo-chamber effect of the lovely interior and because many noisy cafe tasks, like dishwasher stacking etc, are not in a backroom but at the bar, best I can tell - and the staff make no effort to lessen the dish, cutlery and glass crashing noises, for example. Modelo is a busy place. Prices are on the middling to high side for LL. A 330cl non alcoholic beer bottle is EU 3.20....too much really. I recommend Cafe Modelo overall. It is a central attraction and appeals to the older LL citizen. However, one or two of the staff at the payment point need to be retrained or go and work in a non-customer facing role as they are damaging the business' image and user experience, for sure. I mean, this is Spain, not Russia 🤣

Before my visit to this cafe I checked those comment and mostly negative for the services. Anyway I went there for a drink . I think their service not that bad! At lease I saw smiling faces :-) thank you again for the services. Very nice coffee and lovely place!

Very good and what a splendid cafe over 100 years old. The have a bakery across the lane where you have huge choice of cakes and buns which you can eat at the cafe tables. Wonderful rich moist bread pudding and excellent miniature apple tart.

Very good coffee and ORGANIC green tea! Which is weird to find in popular "cafeterias"... Tortilla had good taste but a little bit too oily for me 😫 the service is fast (not super gentle) but it's ok, they are trying to attend people as fast as they can since it's was very crowded.

I've been there having a beer with a sanwich and watching the football, I enjoyed that but service was a bit slow. The place it´s like an old restaurant from the 60s and the terrace it´s in the middle of the city center (In a path way) People moving around all the time.

Fuimos 12 personas lo cual cogimos 2 mesas una para adultos y otra para niños. Pedimos unos cafés y helados. Todo muy bien pero solo una pega la cual el camarero que nos atendió fue muy poco respetuoso. Uno de los helados se le pidió creo que fue de pistacho (no recuerdo bien) y nos trajo de otro sabor y el cual el niño pues dijo que ese sabor no era. La comanda se la pedimos lo adultos y su equivocación del camarero nos trajo una respuesta de los mas inverosímil que fue textualmente " he traído lo que me habéis pedido. No quiso reconocer que se había equivocado. Al decile que lo cambiaran nos dijo que lo cambiaría pero que eso lo habíamos pedido así. Los helados muy buenos pero esa actitud sobra y más cuando se equivoca.

The coffee was good, we sat outside and it was quite dirty, I guess that is to be expected with so many people and not enough waiters to clean up. There was one waitress on her phone instead of serving. It took a while to be served, better then our previous visit, we had to leave because no one served us. I can understand that the waiters must be stressed out, so they should employ more, I'm sure many people are looking for jobs.

They own the very good cake shop across the main street from the cafe. You can buy a cake there and eat it with a hot drink in the cafe. Only problem is they are a little pricey and staff seem totally disinterested. Local senior people are their main clientele.

We enjoyed our coffee and baguette and staff weren't too bad on our 1st visit. But the 2nd visit was absolutely horrible. We were served coffee and menus and then left. No amount of trying to get their attention worked. They absolutely avoided eye contact. We left the money on the table and went to another patisserie, with much better service.

La atención en este sitio deja mucho que desear. Primeramente le pregunté a la de la barra si la procesión pasaría por la calle a la que da la terraza (era para confirmar mi duda) y muy desagradablemente me dijo "hombre, pues claro, todos los años pasan por aquí" (ay, pues disculpe la obviedad de mi pregunta, señora). Decidimos sentarnos afuera y tomarnos unos refrescos. Cuando vimos pasar la procesión, nos levantamos y un camarero nos trajo una bebida, le dijimos que nosotras no pedimos nada más a parte de los dos refrescos, pero nos puso en duda diciendo que en nuestro número de mesa habían pedido un "Puerto de Indias" (cuando somos menores y no tomamos alcohol). Se acercó otra compañera (rubia con gafas) y el chico le comentó la situación. Ella hizo un recuento de lo que habíamos pedido (estaba todo perfecto exceptuando la bebida alcohólica), le dijimos que éramos menores y que, de todos modos, no nos podían servir alcohol. Ella nos contestó diciendo que no tenía nada que ver el que seamos menores con servirnos bebidas +18 ... En fin, la atención al cliente es muy pésima. Y como está experiencia podría contar muchas más, porque no es la primera vez que visito esta cafetería. Es una pena porque el local es muy acogedor.

De vergüenza!!! ya no es lo que era son malísimos muy muy lentos , y la cafetería casi vacía .. como se nota que ya no están los empleados antiguos que era rapidez y buen servicio.

20 minutos para que me tomen el pedido. Seguramente están precarizados y falta personal como se suele acostumbrar en hostelería. Pero también el camarero me ve mientras atiende otras meses y dsp me pasa por al lado dos veces para recoger mesas. No cuesta nada coger el pedido y luego recoger. Me fui. Ojalá que los dueños brinden mejores condiciones de trabajo a los trabajadores para que haya un mejor servicio.

Atención 0 por parte de la camarera.Tuve que levantarme cada vez que necesitaba algo. Siendo así que habían 4 mesas y estube al menos 1 hora. La camarera "Rubia con coleta" ( Dice ser la encargada) No sé su nombre. Es selectiva si no le entras por el ojo ni te atiende..Y aparte te mira como si te estuviera perdonando la vida " siendo que no tube ningun tipo de conversación, ni situación, para ese trato.Si tiene problemas que los deje en la puerta, Siento ser tan directo. Por lo demás bonitas instalaciones y buena atención de otros trabajadores

El sitio es emblematico,pero hay un camarero,canijo y calvo que no tiene respeto ni educacion. Fui una mañana con mi hijo a desayunar,que venia de Escocia!,y este camarero ,al acercarse a la mesa,lanzo un resoplido de desprecio al vernos,no le gusto nuestro aspecto moderno.Nos levantamos y nos fuimos a OK.

Desde que llegué hasta que me atendieron, algo más de 1 cuarto de hora y como podéis ver el local no estaba para nada concurrido. Me tuve que levantar hasta en 3 ocasiones y acercarme a la barra para que por favor se pasara alguien por la mesa para ordenar una bebida. Las camareras que hay se les nota falta de profesionalidad y empatía. No están por la labor. Más ACTITUD y GANAS DE TRABAJAR chicas. El camarero rapado con gafas se nota que están más curtido y sobre todo tiene educación. El establecimiento es bonito, tiene rasgos clásicos como de la época de la ilustración aunque algo más moderno.

Llegamos desde malaga a la linea y paramos a desayunar en este bar más de 40 Minutos esperando el desayuno los camareros corriendo de un lado para otro mas perdidos que un pato borracho el servicio un auténtico desastre pero para cobrar si son buenisimos y muy caros aparte de las bromitas sin gracia de un camarero con Barbas y una muchacha rubia el desayuno malisimo un filete con dos trozos de lechuga y un trozo de tomate

Estaría bien se supieran manejar el local. Camareros desordenados, algunos con poca profesionalidad, tiempo de servicio muy mejorable.... Entre otras cosas más.....

ASCO DE SÍTIO! Había una cucaracha en mi mesa, y palomas volando al redor. Y los atendentes ni siquer dan atención. Aún cobran por las cosas

Terrible experience, again. We try to give a chance to Café Modelo, but undoubtedly the worst service in La Linea. And I am not even talking about the waiters, because we can clearly see they are very busy. However, where are the restaurant managers and owners in a Saturday afternoon? They simply got disappeared and left ONE waitress to look after indoor and outdoors. She was clearly irritated, and I don't blame her, honestly. They avoid to take any eye contact, even though you put your hands up and move towards them to place an order. After a long and long wait, we left with no orders placed. Also, the place could be more tidy up.
