Excellent food. It came out super fast. Bartender was great and very friendly. Portion sizes are huge. Prices are very fair.
Great atmosphere and friendly staff! Food was excellent! Support local!
The food is really good. We went during lunch time and the lunch menue had a nice variety and was very good and we didn't have a long wait. The staff is very friendly and everything was accurate.
We're from San Antonio, TX. We have LOTS of Mexican food restaurants. Many serve very good food; provide great service and such. La Cocina could be successful in San Antonio, in spite of the present competition. We both had a La Parrilla plate ($20 Sunday lunch special). What a feast! We could have split a plate and had more than enough to eat (took home quite a bit of food for later). Aside from the rice, beans and salad, included was steak, chorizo, shredded pork, chicken breast (cut thin) and 2 quesadilla tacos on a bed of perfectly sautéed onions and bell peppers. All perfectly cooked. The side order of queso was awesome (white cheese) and the corn tortilla chips were fresh, warm and crisp. The tortillas (flour and corn) were good but not handmade. I know that's an extra burden on the restaurant (costs) but it's what sets one apart as better than others. Service was absolutely the best. Asael, a very cordial and personable young man, ensured that we had a great dining experience. One can tell that he enjoys what he does and works to the best of his ability. Clean? Absolutely. From the eating area to the restrooms, EVERYTHING was spotless. If you're looking for a great place to eat superior Mexican food, La Cocina should be your place.
First, cleans bathroom is a big deal and they are here. Food was very good and great price points. Maria was our server and did a great job multitasking as host and server. We like the environment as it has a lot of room, warm wood benchs and classic color decor and muisc. We would stop back.
My first time coming here. Not the fanciest but don’t really care about that. As soon as we got there we were given chips and salsa for free and the food was amazing had soooo much flavor (I got the California burrito) and very well portioned and the server we had (forgot her name) was excellent, she did a great job and was very nice. Wish I had tipped more, such an amazing woman.
Our favorite restaurant in the area! We love the chips and salsa they give to every table. Last time we had the la parilla and california nachos, both so well done and tasty. They have a cool decor on the inside and nice patio outside in the warmer months. Servers are always nice as well
Love this place! First time going there and look forward to going back. The salsa wasn't my favorite but the queso dip more than made up for it! They have all the things you'd expect from a good Mexican restaurant; the menu, the colorful decor and friendly staff! The portions are generous too! I had the California Burrito and the thing was the size of California... almost. Very flavorful as well!
Some of the best Mexican food I've ever had, and I've had Mexican in Chicago, Las Vegas, and Colorado. Seriously. The food is off the hook, the service is terrific, and the margaritas are incredible. Love LOVE the chicken tortilla soup (add an egg to the leftovers for breakfast - yum!), the shrimp tacos, and the jalapeno margarita.
amazing food, very comfortable atmosphere, big menu with lots of options for everyone. the only downside is the cost, everything was very costly, for two pepsis, we paid $9.98.
Location is nice, food is good, service too. We went here because I love Guacamole, but I was surprised to pay that much for such a small portion?!?? In other mexican restaurants I get three times as much Guacamole for the same price, that was not good. But I still give a 4 star rating, because the food IS good and the service too. Maybe they run out of big plates? 😝
A little pricey but everything else made up for it. 👍good service👍good food👍good atmosphere 👍 I enjoy going to this restaurant, this is a good place to enjoy your food with a good atmosphere and comfort for your eyes. I do enjoy cooking around as I eat and there's plenty of little details around this place to enjoy while yo eat. I like to plants and the ceiling I noticed is made interesting to me. I like contrast to it, it's just unique and simple and it makes me notice it. So if you like this type of foods then it definitely is worth it to get a glimpse because it's not a bad place. I'd like it to be a different location but I'm not going to hate it I just do not like the town it's in. The foods bangin' so I like it regardless 👍 🎄 loving the Christmas decorations that are up too🎄
Updated Review: Came here with friends and family with a table for 7 around noon. Great drinks, good food, atmosphere and service. Fajita Nachos are a must have and will cause you to ha e cravings later to come back for more. Overall, solid place to eat our in Jamestown. ‐-------- Old Review: Great atmosphere and great food, made us feel like we weren't in Jamestown. I had the California Burrito which was huge and came out fast. Only minus was the Margarita's (Mango and Blue Caracao) were pretty strong with liquor which needs to be dialed back to appropriately balance the flavor. Overall great experience and I will recommend to others!
Love the vibe of this place. Went on a sunday night so the place was busy, but didn’t have wait time which is great. Tried their veggie Fajita which was delicious, especially the grilled veggies. Cocktails were a hit or miss. Avoid the mango mojito at all costs, tasted like cough syrup. Blood orange cocktail was great. Also liked the corn guac although the chips smelled oil. Thank you for complementary salsa and chips. Value for money : Yes I’d recommend trying if you haven’t already:)
We haven't been in a few years but loved it when they opened. We stopped recently and I was not impressed by the food or prices. My husband and son got a taco salad and there was a literal pool of watery grease in the bottom of their bowls. Meat wasn't very flavorful. I got the Texan fajita and it actually tasted very good. Very flavorful and a huge portion. Server couldn't understand much English, but we were able to work everything out with her. She was very friendly but quick and didn't give our table much attention. I was thrown back a bit when our bill came back and was over $100 for 3 adults and a kids meal. Each soft drink was $4. I asked for a little extra sour cream and it was another $4. A small scoop of avocado was $10. Not impressed with the price of everything compared to the quality. I was confused why they were nearly empty at 5pm....... But I figured out why quickly.
No wait for a table. Waitress didnt speak much English. Messed up drink orders. Messed up food orders. Had to be asked several times for silverware. Food came. About 50% of it was wrong. She didn't care. Food had no taste. Like it wasn't seasoned. I was not impressed and will not be returning
The food was ok, but I guess the furnace was broken and when we went it was 17 degrees outside and it was FREEZING inside. The food got cold really quickly, queso got super thick because it wasn’t really hot and I was using my hot plate to keep my hands warm. No warning was given and when I said something about it to the waitress all she said was “yeah, I feel it too.” I know it probably sounds like I’m being dramatic and exaggerating but I can assure you I’m not. It was a really bad experience and I’m so disappointed because unfortunately it makes me not want to go back. And I really love Mexican food.
