One of London places which didn't change for years and I am so grateful for that. Still amazing Spanish tapas and such good wines that have that magic to take you back into same time 30 years ago. Definitely place to meet friends, have a laugh, and enjoy good food. Just came back from Myvue cinema across the road after watching the latest Alien movie and had such an amazing burger that I had to find out who the cook was there.
Huge serving of paella says good for two but its actually enough for 3 people. Highly recommend Spanish Tripe its soo good. The tripe is sooo soft and easy to eat. Spanish sardines serving was actually big i was expecting small sized sardines😅 the service was also amazing. We were attended to accordingly.
The menu at El Metro is a true celebration of traditional Spanish cuisine, offering a tantalizing array of tapas that are perfect for sharing. Each dish is crafted with the utmost care and showcases the rich, bold flavors that Spain is renowned for. To start, the **patatas bravas** are an absolute must-try. The potatoes are perfectly seasoned and topped with a smoky, spicy bravas sauce that has just the right amount of kick. Paired with the creamy aioli, this dish is a delightful explosion of flavors and textures. Another standout is the **gambas al ajillo**. The prawns are succulent and cooked to perfection, bathed in a fragrant garlic and chili oil that’s impossible to resist. The aroma alone is enough to make your mouth water! No visit to El Metro is complete without indulging in the **paella**. Whether you opt for the seafood, mixed, or vegetarian version, you’re in for a treat. The rice is infused with saffron and cooked to perfection, with each grain absorbing the rich, complex flavors of the broth. The generous portions of seafood, meats, or vegetables add a satisfying heartiness to the dish. To complement the food, the wine list offers a curated selection of Spanish wines that perfectly enhance the dining experience. The staff are knowledgeable and eager to help you find the perfect pairing for your meal. El Metro restaurant is a culinary haven for anyone seeking an authentic taste of Spain in London. The combination of exquisite food, a lively atmosphere, and impeccable service makes it a dining experience that you’ll want to repeat again and again. Whether you’re a tapas aficionado or a first-time explorer of Spanish cuisine, this restaurant promises an unforgettable journey for your taste buds!!
Beautiful place amazing atmosphere and great food…. I first seen this restaurant on the show As Time Goes by and I said I have to go there and wasn’t disappointed at all
Still the best! After years of coming here I still love it and can't fault. The food, the staff, the.setting. Came last night with my best friend and my dog ruby who is always welcomed, as we sit outside, and nothing disappointed. Look at our feast! I can't recommend the mussels enough. See you again soon! Thank you as always for being brilliant. Love Gem and Ruby 🐾 x
I’m on short holiday i pass by this restaurant first i was not sure but I approach by a manager and I decided to take the shot.. What a amazing place i had a paella valenciana and a fabada with my partner what a delicious food and think for the next few days a would love to try other food of the menu. Great food.great atmosphere and the great staff. I recommend this place.
The decoration of the restaurant is very cosy and really gives of the Spanish atmosphere accompanied by the Spanish music. The staff was very friendly. I really recommend the steak it is top notch.
Stopped here for dinner last night while staying in the area. Family of 5 with 3 young kids. Food and service were very good. Authentic tasty tapas dishes and a nice friendly attentive service. I have worked in hospitality for nearly 30 years as a Chef and restaurant owner and i am hard to please. We would certainly be regulars if we lived here.
The first time I went to this place I was with my friends and everything was amazing except the person who served us. I came back since the food is amazing and the lady who looks like she’s in charge is brilliant, couldn’t let one time to ruin it for me. Today I went there after almost half and a year and young girl and boy whom I never seen before were absolutely terrific!! The way she handles everything and at the same time pays attention to every single customer it’s something else & both of them were such a team players, always helpful and working hard. Food as usual very nice, never disappoints! Can’t wait to come back.
A lovely atmospheric Spanish Tapas restaurant which has a varied menu including classics and specialities, the portion sizes are large so don't hesitate to share, particularly the Charcuterie board and whitebait. The house white wine is light and crisp and compliments the dishes perfectly. Sitting in the lovely surroundings as the trains rumble underneath and all the local accents and languages are being spoken is a delight.
Came here a few weeks ago and absolutely loved our experience!! We came on a Sunday night, and the two staff members were super attentive, kind and helpful. The food was amazing and more than generous portions. We cannot wait to come back again soon!
We had such a delightful lunch! Excellent food and service. We got 6 tapas and a paella for two, the portion is generous so that was definitely too much food for two people, I would recommend /suggest 4 tapas more than enough. The freshness of the food, added herbs and spices, beautiful flavor compositions are outstanding! If you’re lucky and weather is nice, you can enjoy lunch in the beautiful garden as well. Really good size of delicious food and 2 drinks per person at the total of £155, which we thought was super fair for the food, quality and location. Will definitely go back!
Absolutely gorgeous family restaurant, the food is just delicious! The staff were so lovely and friendly. I highly recommend the pork belly and the garlic prawns. But really everything really was amazing, next time I an in the area I will definitely be popping in. The red wine was so good and the glasses were large!
The paella and sauteed baby squid with garlic and white wine were really good! The place is usually crowded, so better to book in advance. The staff is very friendly and the place has a garden with outdoor heating.
Lovely little place, been here a few times now…great food…highly recommend the chorizo picante, prawns, pork belly, croquettes and potato bravas…great drink selection, margarita are great, and lovely staff that provide great service as well as being super friendly! Sat outside here feels like I’m almost in Spain!
This is the first Spanish restaurant that actually tasted like real Spanish food. I've been in the UK for 5 years and I tried some Spanish restaurants from all over London, none of them were good enough to be considered a Spanish restaurants. Last time I went to one in Ealing I thought that's it, this was the last chance. But last week I found El Metro in Fulham and that goodness I did it. They have a 2 and 3 courses menu, even on Saturdays and Sundays. I ask for charcuterie and it was delicious and the steak with salad ans chips. It was the right amount of food. I love eating and I eat a lot I have to say. This was a real taste. A REAL SPANISH TASTE. The terrace is very cosy. It has stoves and blankets. We had late lunch and the temperature was very low and we had it outside. I recommend this place. One of my favourite restaurants in London. The pictures might not be the best but with the stove's red colour you can appreciate the very nice food.
Wonderful, traditional tapas! I felt like I was in rural Spain and the food was just as fresh and delicious. Attentive staff and a great atmosphere. Nice and cosy
Place came highly recommended by my spanish friend, and I have to say, it's the best Spanish restaurant in London!! The food was just amazing, we had the chorizo al vino, every tapa that had gambas ( prawns), pulpo a la gallega and my absolute favourite Paella NEGRAAAAA, all accompanied by a never ending jug of sangria! Service and staff were absolute charming and attentive!! Will definitely be returning! Ive also attached a photo of my demolished plate, didn't have time to take any when the food had arrived as I was afraid I wouldn't get to try any!
First time visiting El Metro....Had quite a few tapas dishes the quality was good throughout the dishes, service was friendly, and the restaurant itself has a certain charm.
An excellent Spanish restaurant in Fulham. We had a lemon sauce salmon and seafood baella, they were so delicious with a free dish from the owner .Higly recommended.
what a find ! Great place with great tasting food - first time here, but definitely planning to come back soon.
Very excellent service and friendly environment. Moreover, excellent food quality, well managed, very tasty gambas pil pil, chorizo picante and so many like these. Well organized everything on the day of football match.
This review is well overdue. We had an amazing Christmas Party 🎉 at El Metro in December. The staff made us feel welcomed, the food was delicious and plenty. They went above and beyond to make our night memorable with live music and great atmosphere. Thank you team El Metro for making our event a huge success. We would not hesitate to have our next party here again.
We met our friends who were visiting London. We just thought it looked good so decided to give it a try. We had a great lunch. The waiters were friendly and helpful. They made us feel welcome. The food was excellent. Would recommend for a quick bite or a couple of beers 😊👍
Came for a lunch in the terrace during the weekend.. Me and my friend have order a number of small plates to share and a couple of beers. We had jamon which was pretty good (small portions though), patatas bravas which didn’t impress me to be honest but had a good sauce, chicken with chorizo which was a larger portion and was actually delicious for those who can handle some spicy food. Also had gambas al ajillo (prawns in garlic) which actually quite disappointed me. The prawn were not tasty at all and didn’t come in a cooking hot ceramic plate as usual for this dish. As a consequence they got cold quite quickly. We had a portion of croquetas de jamon which actually were delicious and gave lots of extra points to the meal. The service was nice and fast.. all the staff was pretty friendly and really operative considering how busy it was due to the nearby football match starting soon after. The restaurant has a real spanish feel to it as well which is always a good thing when in London. Also, it’s a family run business, so gets my support as an independent business. Prices were a bit high but we the two of us had a lot of food and barely managed to finish everything including 2 bottled spanish beers. Paid around 35£ each so not to bad to be fulham! Recommended!
Opted for the set lunch menu, which we had to request upon being left with the regular menu. For starters, the charcuterie board was nice but the pork skewers were dry and tasteless. The paellas (seafood and chicken) were pleasant and the portion size was really decent. Service was lovely, it was nice to sit outside with blankets offered.
Very nice tapas bar with outdoor space (patio-type). Portions are quite big and food was tasty. Real spanish recipes and the service was very kind and nice with us. We had a reservation but got there a bit late. They had kindly kept the table for us. We ordered sangria, which was very tasty, chicharron asado (pork belly), patatas bravas and croquetas. Everything was delicious. The bar inside is like a typical “bar de vinos” en Madrid. I highly recommend it. We were told that from Thu to Sun they have live music at night.
It was a great restaurant with a super friendly atmosphere. The decorations were very Spanish as well as all the small details. Food was good but could have expected better.
The service is amazing 🤩, food was very good, I would recommend you to try seafood paella 🥘 and grilled sea bass 🐟
Friendly staff and atmospheric place. Food was good but like so many places, unfortunately a teabag dropped into a cup of water will not make for a great cup of tea. Tea comes in a pot
The food is great, good quality. Nice atmosphere. Staff attentive. The only downside is that it gets really noisy when is busy. I went on a saturday night. Beside this I will definetely come back.
I think this would’ve been better on a sunny day when you could sit outdoors! Service was 10/10, everyone working there was so lovely. The food was decent but not the best tapas I’ve ever had. House wines were pretty expensive for moderate wine, next time I’d order sangria instead. Overall I enjoyed myself but there are better tapas places in London!
Visited with family for the first time everything was fine service, atmosphere until I started to eat my mustard chicken first piece was fine but the next piece was under cooked and smelt off told the waiter who spoke to the chef who said it was the spices, I don't think so, however I thought we would be recompensed in some way but no nothing. This would not have happened up in the north east, but what can you expect in London especially Kensington where people obviously have more money than sense.
We had a nice dinner celebration, the service really good and the staff very friendly and welcoming. I’m afraid the food was not good, we order the mustard chicken which was not completely cooked. I had to left most of it because it was undercooked, so the money didn’t worth it I’m afraid
We ordered two bitter coffees, two little bowls of soup with soaked bread topped up with a fried egg and one plain tasteless small sea food salad to share. We asked for some oil and vinegar to season it, and for this, we had been charged separately £2.50, including a voluntary tip of £4.17 (that was automatically included in the total amount). The waiter refused to remove the charge. When challenged, we were told that olive oil has gone up in Spain. I pointed out that there was no indication that this came under a separate charge. However, the waiter dismissed my concern in an offended manner, and we ended up paying a full amount of £37.52!
Advertised as "The most copied tapas bar"... I don't think so.. croquetas looked more like cheap veggie sausages and definitely unlike any I have seen in any other tapas bar (especially ones in Spain!) Patatas bravas.. soggy potato, no aioli.. again - unique and certainly not the template for a host of imitators. We asked for some aioli and what came had no taste and looked more like cheap gloopy tartar sauce. To be fair the lentil and chorizo dish was actually good and the complimentary gazpacho was also nice. But the Sangria was weak and uninspiring and the overall experience was disappointing. Adding injury to insult, I was conned into leaving a tip on top of the already included service charge - that's fraud in my book.
Worst paella ever eaten, you could only taste the cumin and a strong and bitter flavour. Also, the fish inside the pan was horrible, pale and hidden by the excessive amount of cumin. We informed the staff about it and they did not even pay attention or offer any discount. Staff arrogant. I really do not recommend this place. However, decent tapas.
Food was very average and overpriced. Owner and some staff were extremely rude and not listening to feedback - would never recommend going!
