EXCEPTIONAL!!!! A MUST TRY!!!! I came here to try the Chefs Sunday set lunch menu. The service by Luminita and Mark was outstanding, they made me feel welcome from the moment I stepped in to the restaurant. They regularly came up to me and asked me about the food and if I would like anything else and made me feel right at home..I really enjoyed Marks way of putting the cutleries on my table and the sense of humour of Luminita The first course I opted for was the burrata with balsamic and freshly grated truffle, the burrata was soft and milky, the texture was silky smooth and the burrata was seasoned extremely well. The second course I went for was the spiced baby chicken which was served with roasted potatoes, mushroom, gravy and seasonal veg, the food was served on a very clean and warm plate, the chicken was cooked to perfection at the right temperature 🌡 and the food was adequately seasoned although taste is subjective, I still cracked some salt and pepper on the Roasted seasonal veg. The waiter kindly offered me sauces and the mustard too was delicious. For the final course. I had the Apple Tarte Tatin, I was at a loss for words when I tried it out for the first time. The honey, paired with creme fraiche and the flaky texture of the pastry all of it balanced out the sweetness of the wonderfully caramelised Apples. Truly a delight to my senses. I will definitely be coming back to try the A la Carte. And hopefully bring in more friends to support this independent business. They truly are champions of higher welfare and seasonal ingredients led cooking.. Thank you very much for your hospitality

We had a great meal here and left quite full. The burger was amazing but I'd recommend anything on the menu. They have a Sunday roast two courses for £33 which is very price competitive for the area. The restaurant is intimate and beautiful. Also the house wine was tasty.

Had my birthday lunch here. Both food and service are amazing Mark is super friendly and attentive

Great experience for my dad’s birthday! Manager when I arrived was friendly and had a chat with him behind the bar whilst waiting for my family. Waitress was fun and nice her name begins with L I totally forgot the spelling sorry but has jet black hair and was on the ball throughout the entire experience. We had a nice table outside and the food was delicious. Would recommend

What an amazing night we had with Lumi (manager) and the chef team on a lazy Friday night in January. Yordi was lovely too. Great spot in E1.

We had an birthday party here today. Lumi and Mark was wonderful, friendly and attentive. The food came out hot and delicious. The drinks came quickly and there was not one single mistake which was an amazing feat as there was 16 of us! We were allowed to bring decorations (as long as it leaves no marks) ourselves hence the table sparkles, balloons and Easter Carrot favours 😁Thank you Galvin team we had a wonderful time!

Superb food for a very good price. Staff were pleasant and efficient. The room is a bit echoey which makes conversation a bit difficult. Service charge is high

The food is just a masterpiece. Delicious! Especially the tartar, I was looking this dish across the whole London restaurants. Venison and fish was fantastic, the service on a high level. They prepared the table for the Valentine’s Day in the special way as well which is so lovely.

Bon appétit… London style! Dinner @galvinbistrot last night was nothing short of spectacular. Think rich, buttery sauces, perfectly crisp frites, and indulgent French classics that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a Parisian hideaway—without leaving London! 🍷🍽️ From the silkiest chicken liver parfait to a show-stopping duck confit, every dish was pure perfection. And, of course, we couldn’t resist ending on a sweet note with a heavenly tarte Tatin. 🥰 If you love good food, great wine, and a bit of French charm, this is your spot! Who’s up for a little bistro magic? ✨

Incredible mushroom Veloute/soup for starter. 3 course set menus was absolutely delicious. Maybe offer one more choice for starters mains and dessert. Great ambiance and decor. Wonderful service by Gwen. Thanks for making my partner’s birthday special with a glass of champagne.

The best bistro in the city. Most awesome food. Exceptional service and the most joyful atmosphere. Can’t recommend enough. If you don’t do anything else. Make sure you dine here

Went here for a birthday and to celebrate, it was awesome and befitting the occasion. The waiting staff was very discreet and attentive. The food was exquisite, however the dessert was forgettable. The Comté was not quite what I'd hoped for and the biscuits didn't fit in the picture (not Galvin caliber). The brut served with the set menu was surprisingly good. They also served canned beer, which didn't feel in tune with the experience, but was so good and different to have.

A warm welcome from Marie the manager and her staff. An a la Carte lunch including the signature steak-frites was excellent with super service. Highly recommended.

This was actually a great spot for brunch - I’m very surprised by the negative reviews. The atmosphere is lovely especially with the glass rooftop that lets in a lot of sunlight. Service is delightful and very helpful. The Pilsner Urquell was delicious and a great pairing with the burger which was generous with toppings and accompanied by a delicious fried pickle. The beef is juicy and the fries are crisp and tasty. My friends who had both classical brunch options and the Sunday roast all said the food was great. The pancakes were outstanding apparently. Highly recommend this spot for affordable quality food!

Close to Liverpool Street and serves really tasty food. It’s a bistro style and relaxed restaurant with an small outdoor area which is great for drinks in the summer and the winter (they have blankets). The staff here were welcoming and I would definitely recommend!

Had a lovely lunch for two. Staff were polite and attentive but not overpowering, and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Food was excellent, couldn’t fault anything. Not cheap, but worth the money in my view. Highly recommended.

Top quality food and good service. Have eaten here a few times now. Came recently after lockdown and was lovely to enjoy the food again. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting quality food in a casual setting in Liverpool Street.

We had the cod and the steak, both were great. Good service, reasonable prices. Atmosphere at the back of the restaurant was good for a romantic dinner. Not a whole lot of options on the menu, but both of us found dishes that we enjoyed.

French indulgent deliciousness. I would totally recommend the soufflé starter and Rhum Baba "by the inch" for pudding. Perfect for an outdoor December dining experience.

Escape the hustle and bustle of London and enter this charming French Brasserie for some delicious food! We enjoyed three courses here, all indulgent and tasty. The stars of the show were the chateaubriand for two and the classic creme brulee for dessert. No pomp and ceremony, just French food and wine done well. If you want all the bells and whistles, you can go next door to Galvin Le Chapelle. Expect paper table cloths, pouring your own wine and looking after your own coat. All aspects you might expect to recieve for the price tag, but that doesn’t take the charm out of the place as it is oh so French. The staff were lovely too.

We had an excellent lunch here. Good food, service and setting and the prices are reasonable given the quality.

I celebrated my birthday at Galvin's, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfect for a special occasion. The staff went above and beyond to make the evening feel personal, even surprising us with champagne on the house for the 6 of us! I had the guinea fow from the specials menu, and it was cooked to perfection. Everybody was raving about the food and wine which was recommended by the staff. 10/10 ⭐

Richard served us - phenomenal experience. He was so attentive without being overbearing, great recommendations and a brilliant sense of humour. The food was amazing, definitely recommend the prawns if you’re lucky enough to be here when they have them as a special, or the steak tatar 😍😍

Went to Galvin Bistrot for a Saturday afternoon lunch with friends and had an excellent time. The food was amazing and we loved the updated style to the menu since we last visited. The mediterranean style with things such as the sardine pincho or arancini balls while we chose the rest of the dishes were amazing. We also loved the starters such as venison tartare and the pasta such as the ragu. The mains were all the quality and presentation you'd expect from Galvin and did not disappoint. Staff were lovely, friendly and so helpful too. Wine and cocktails didn't disappoint either; negroni's and old fashioned's.

Great food, super friendly staff. Came here for my wife s birthday, Mark served our table. V cheerful. And most importantly, the food s great, had arancini, baby octopus and pizzette for starter; skate wing and pork chop for main, and tiramisu and afogato for dessert. If I had to pick bones out of the food, it would be the afogato and the slightly over-toaated bread for the baby octopus. Oh and in case if you bring your fluffy friend, they are only pet-friendly for outdoor seating.

A warm and delicious restaurant that offers the relaxed atmosphere of a bistrot with a wide range of fine dining options. I would highly recommend the venison tartare and the pheasant breast, the red Bordeaux on tap was also very pleasant. The service is attentive, quick and not overbearing. The setting is modern and cozy - very Christmassy this time of year which is a big plus for us! Well worth a visit if you’re ever around Spitalfields.

It was my husband’s first time here. I recommended coming here after I’d visited with my cousin in 2024. The food was incredible and our waiter Mark was polite, friendly and helpful. It was well worth the visit.

Dining at Galvin’s La Chapelle is about a lot more than the high quality of the food. The care and attention to detail is second to none and the friendly and knowledgeable team provide a warm welcome and seamless service, making each visit into a heartwarming experience. La Chapelle is our go-to restaurant when dining out in London.Olga and Stuart Mundy

Was treated to a meal at the bistro at Galvin’s in an evening. Waiters were pleasant & attentive to start with. Food quality was as good as expected. We loved the duck pate & beef tartare. My grilled Octopus was a success though I would have preferred vegetables to potatoes if there was a choice. My friend’s duck leg was very good too. We had no complaint along the lines of quality, perhaps just the lack of a little sparkle. Also service was a bit slack at the end. All in all, a very pleasant evening in a lovely environment.

Delicious food in generous portions. Even starters seem a bit larger than expected. Confit Duck Cassoulet is very good, but again, I couldn't even finish the whole dish - could easily be shared between two ladies. We had a nice evening. Nice setting. Just a little noisy.

We had a lovely bottomless brunch... Amazing duck salad to start and a fantastic burger. Too much food but Soo so good. Would have been 5stars but got charged for the water and didn't have the option to go for tap water!

Unmistakenly French look and feel. The large bi-folding doors seamlessly connecting the indoors with the outdoor terrace. Beautiful in the hot summer evening I went. The food is really good and the service excellent. More a 4.5*. I loved it! I also loved the ceiling fans on the dark ceiling. Very Français. As it darken, it had a beautiful atmosphere, all the most with the lighted trees just outside the terraced area in the square. Magical. They serve Pilsner beer from the Czeck Republic, that comes directly from there in a beer tanker. One of the very few places in London where you can find it. The beer is kept in the 3 copper tanks over the bar. Amazing just to look at it. The food was really good. I went for their Michelin menu with caraffe of wine. My starter of braised calves' tongue, beetrot & celeriac and main of free range chicken breast, peas, broad beans, alsacs bacon, baby gem were wonderfully cooked and beautifully presented. My dessert of buttermilk pannacota, strawberries, pistachio was truly delicious. The buttermilk pannacota was one of the best i've ever had, sooo smooth, and the crunchy bits of pistachio adding the texture. Divine. In brief, a beautiful bistrot, with great food and excellent service. The staff are superb! Very highly recommended. PS: while there, have a look around the square at the sculptures of the Herd of Hope. Truly magnificent. At night it's got a magical feel!

Lovely French Bistrot with a nice terrace. Delicious wine and great service. Food was ok, not the best steak I’ve had but not horrible either. However, the fries were great.

Our evening meal was booked towards the end of service time. This bistro has quite an early closing though the a la carte restaurant next door stays open much longer. Service was a bit patchy although the bistro was not full. Some main menu choices were not available but the alternative choices were tasty and well cooked. Had a good evening and would probably return.

Ordered from the set menu: Heritage Golden Beetroot, Goats’ Cheese, Walnut - wonderful. Maple Cured Pork Rib Eye, Tomato & Samphire Salad - WAY too salty; I couldn't eat. Brie with Carrs’ water biscuit, Apple & Shallot Chutney - perfect. My friend ordered the Truffle Salami, Roasted Red Peppers, Capers, same entree, and Buttermilk Pannacotta, Oakland Farm strawberries, Pistachio. All were perfect except the pork ribeye. Came with a glass of wine for each set for 24£. Can't beat the deal.

Mixed experience. Might have scored higher if it weren't for the fact that it was quite pricey for tiny portions, and the bad attitude of the servers when we reported problems, mostly of an organizational nature, with the mains. My starter of cured sea bream from the raw section of the menu was excellent. Sauce of ponzo diluted with cold tomato consomme was perfectly balanced. I loved the unidentified green leaves that dressed fish. They had a flavour that complimented seafood beautifully. Portion was very modest. My companion was happy with his two little items from the bites section of the menu. Sardine pincho was very fresh and vegetale, and he liked the mushroom and truffle arancini. I tried a bite of both and personally found the arancini stodgy. There was some confusion because my companion originally wanted a pizzetta as main, despite the waitress warning him that the portion was small. He became wary after seeing the very dainty portion sizes of the starters. An order of vegetarian pasta was added to his order before arrival of the pizzetta, which apparently confused the kitchen regarding delivery sequence for the remaining food. The pizzetta with taleggio and prosciutto was indeed tiny and served cold. In that respect my companion was happy he had augmented his order with warm pasta. The pizzetta bite I tried tasted mostly of parma ham, so serving cold made sense, but calling it a pizzetta instead of cold ham on toast was misleading. My main order of the signature burger and creamed spinach both arrived tepid. The spinach was seriously under seasoned and bland. Burger was tasty despite being lukewarm at best. My companion's pumpkin and and Vacherin pasta was the worst dish of the night. Cold, overcooked and sickly sweet. I think the flavour profile would have been vastly improved by a sprinkle of fried capers to add a pop of contrast to the sweetness. I sampled a bite and could discern cheesiness but not Vacherin in particular. When asked about our food we short listed some of our problems with tepid food as well as with the pumpkin pasta. We were surprised that serving staff, instead agreeing to report the problems to the kitchen, got defensive. Our waitress explained that there were lights to keep the dishes warm. We had seen the salamanders positioned way too high on the pass to be effective, given how long our orders waited there. A manager came to explain that pumpkin is indeed sweet so we shouldn't be surprised by sweetness of the vegetarian pasta. We won't be back. The cheapest bottle of red was incidentally £42. It's an elegant room.

Incredibly poor experience, small portions and still a hefty bill to pay despite being the meal being a "Gift" by friends to celebrate my birthday (Gift Voucher for 2 people, 5 course Menu Gourmand worth £250). The plates were delicious but tiny appetiser portions. For example, the main was a tiny portion of short ribs. Dessert was 3 chocolate balls and a small scoop of ice cream (photo below). We left hungry and wondered how such a well known restaurant could do such a thing. The price (and hype) did not justify the meal served. Ingredients were not particularly expensive, but rather just well-presented on a plate. A pub meal would have fed us better. Despite the voucher we still had to pay an exorbitant amount. We ordered 1 glass of wine (£17), 1 bottle water (£5.90 despite it being in-house filtered), and 2 coffees (£15), and we were left to pay £79.65 including £40 service charge, on top of the £250 that was already paid by friends (total £329). We left feeling scammed, hungry and that this was purely a commercial/profit-seeking dining experience.

D
Darryl

After a reasonable meal the whole experience was ruined by the manager's attitude, a seemingly genuine mistake where we were double charged for a course. We noticed after they had taken payment and were told to wait for the manager to resolve it. After leaving us waiting for 15 minutes the manager appeared and she said to us that she would refund the "£18 in cash as it was easier". I pointed out that we had also been charged service charge on this as she clearly knew, being the restaurant manager and she pointed at the receipt showing the £18 line and tried to push that it was £18. I reiterated that yes it was £18 but we'd also been charged 14.5% service charge on this and we didn't want to pay service for something that we had not had/been overcharged. At this point she said there was nothing she could do about the service charge and she was not going to refund us for this, then decided to insist that she would give us a free drink the next time we came... Sadly we won't be coming back, if you charge someone for something they didn't have then you need to refund them in full, you don't steal the money because it's more convenient for you. Very disappointed with the attitude and being treated like it's our fault they made a mistake, then being refused a full refund for this, left a sour taste and put off a long-term Galvin fan.

Seriously disappointed! Virgin Experience menu was very limited. Burrata starter was served by waitress saying ‘you’ll need bread with that’. Extra cost. Baby chicken main course was in fact half a minuscule chicken and came with nothing else whatsoever. Fries and veg were again extra. Pasta main course portion was pathetic - starter yes, main course no way. Desert was either tiramisu or a donut. The closest the tiramisu came to having coffee liqueur in it was by passing the bar on the way to our table. Food quality was average. A very disappointing ‘experience’ - we would have had a better and more enjoyable lunch from one of the stalls in Spitalfields.
