The food was very tasty and plentiful. I really liked the place, it's cozy. The cocktails were very good.

Everything about this place was terrific… the food, service, ambiance…real authentic food , and the presentation was just perfect on every dish. Can’t say anything bad, definitely will be back. Oh and the price is very reasonable.

Went here to have a birthday dinner with a friend and this place always exceeds my budget. The coconut mojito is a must try.

This may be my new favorite spot! The food was outstanding, the entire staff was so sweet and accommodating, and the live music and atmosphere couldn’t have been more perfect. The hostess was very kind and allowed us to switch to the bar after taking a seat in the front dining area. Food wise, the beef empanada and spicy guacamole appetizers were amazing. For dinner, we got the beef tacos, Chicken Matiz, and the Bandejo, which were all perfectly cooked and delicious. Our server/bartender, Jeiber, was so helpful and so sweet. He made us a few surprise drinks which were all great, in addition to recommending a few of his favorite dishes to us. Matiz goes all out for birthdays too, including a bubble machine, air horn, and a club marquee sign. Matiz is the perfect spot for good company, delicious and reasonable drinks, and top-notch food and service that you can’t find anywhere else.

Wow, can’t believe this restaurant was here for 4 years and never knew about it. Took a chance last night and will be back multiple times! Food a mixture of Latin America spices and flavors. Portions priced for value with representative portions. Atmosphere and music had a “chill” vibe. Not a BYOB but the drinks we purchased were god sized and fairly priced compared to other restaurants in the area. At 10:00 I was told they move the tables and you can dance! This place is the total package for a delicious romantic dinner! I’ll be back with family and friends!!!!! I never done a second review but I’ve felt compelled to do one for this outstanding restaurant. The food, servers, price and decor(they change w/ the season and holidays) is second to none. While it’s not a BYOB they do not give “measured pours.” It was one of our daughters birthday and the were first class w/ an outstanding dessert and birthday shot gratis! This restaurant is not to be missed!!!!!!

Absolutely outstanding experience! From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel welcomed and taken care of. The atmosphere was warm, elegant, and inviting, perfect for both a casual night out or a special occasion.

I can't say enough good things about this establishment. The staff is absolutely excellent. Our server was named Joao (I hope I'm not butchering his name too badly). We have been there a couple of times, and have not been disappointed at all. The last time we were there I enjoyed the skirt steak which was absolutely impeccably cooked. My wife and I were there with older family members and were impressed by the fact that it was not overly noisy in the establishment. Our water glasses were regularly refilled. You cannot go wrong here. Definitely a place to add to your "Have to Check Out" list.

Went for Valentines Day. Amazing food. Amazing drinks. Service was spot on. Only issue was the live band was so loud you couldn’t hear yourself think or speak. If they are going to play to the whole restaurant put more speakers in the back or don’t offer seating 3 feet away from a speaker.

Great food. Appetizers, Entree and desserts all top class! Excellent service too. Felt like being in an island. Would recommend to anyone who likes south american food. Brazilian food was so good. Very very spicy with great flavour, perfect blend of coconut milk and tomatoes. Very friendly staff too

Every time my family and I head down the shore in the summer, a stop at Matiz Shore House is a must. The atmosphere is lively, the drinks are always delicious, and the food is absolutely to die for. For appetizers, we’ve tried the ceviche, yuca croquettes, and guacamole — all amazing and full of flavor. I always order the Chicken Matiz, and it never disappoints — consistently incredible every single time. This place has become a summer tradition for us, and we can’t wait to go back!

A gem of a restaurant in Monmouth county! Food is outstanding! Fresh ingredients with presentation that is 5 stars!

This place has been open for 6 years and I'm embarrassed to say we never knew about it! Great selection of delicious, specialty cocktails and beautiful atmosphere. Our waitress, Gabby, couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. The meals (my wife had Brazilian Shrimp and I had Surf and Turf) were perfectly cooked. Now that we know about Matiz, we'll be back again and again!

Matiz offered vibrant Latin flavors in a warm, modern setting. The staff were super friendly and genuinely helpful, from recommendations to pacing the courses just right. Loved the tropical shrimp ceviche, avocado salad, and the red snapper. Also tried my friends chicken dish “Chicken Matiz” Sooo good! The fried cassava was also a delicious, crispy counterpoint to the richer plates. The real bonus is the after-dinner vibe—the energy shifts to an DJ and dancing! SO MUCH FUN! Highly recommend!

The food was absolutely amazing! Mouth watering, so good! Ana was our host and she gave us all the recommendations. She’s so sweet and really made sure we were well taken care of. Her hospitality was superb. Our waiters were on point. They kept checking upon on us making sure we were satisfied with our food. We highly recommend this beautiful place. Visiting the shore from NY where we got all the best latin spots (yeah im that guy). This place is an entire vibe...awesome spot for a intimate family dinner during the week and some sexy party vibes on the weekend. The food is absolutely amazing. The chicharron was some of the best I've ever had and I worked a bunch in Jackson heights and Corona queens. The service was top notch. Loved everything about my meal here today...im writing this while waiting on the check it was so damn good lol

Review for Matiz From the moment we entered Matiz, we were greeted warmly by the manager, Ana, who led us to a beautiful round table in the back — the perfect setting for a lovely evening. Our waiter, Lionel, was absolutely wonderful: attentive, kind, and genuinely delightful throughout the meal. The paella was absolutely delicious, and my friend’s chicken with mushroom cream was equally outstanding. Everything from the presentation to the flavors was spot-on. A wonderful dining experience all around!

Nice decor, friendly staff, outstanding food and drinks. The only thing that lets it down is that it lacks some atmosphere, when we arrived only about 5 tables were occupied but it feels fairly new, so I’ll forgive that. The food we ate was fantastic. We ordered the skirt steak and the paella matiz, both were exquisite and the steak was cooked perfectly and had a lovely chargrilled taste. The service was good, but it did take us a little while to get a refill. My wife ended up asking the bar for another drink. After that we had no issues however. Food was fast and came after 15 minutes after ordering. 4 stars for me, nearly 5. 5 for me would include slightly faster/more attentive service however the food and drinks cannot be faulted in my opinion. Price is also reasonable. I would come back again. I expect this place will come up in the next year big time. Thanks for the experience Matiz!!!

Not from around here but was intruiged by the menu. I live in jersey city where there is an abundance of spanish/central/south american cuisine. This place was top quality by all standards. Drink offerings were great and food options were well rounded. The two dishes i tried were superb and the drinks i had were phenomenal. The manager also told us about live music/dj on friday and saturday nights. I would be willing to come back for some vibes. We got a table on a saturday afternoon around 2pm with no reservation and no issues. The place was about 1/4 full.

It was our first time in the town when my boyfriend and I decided where to have an early dinner that is close by where we were. We visited the town since it has a nice front beach. When we decided, we saw this restaurant on Google search and came to see how it was. Upon arrival we were just stared by the hostess that seemed to be busy taking a selfie. We were asked if we have a reservation and we got stared at as well with the other guy. We decided to be sat down outside. I think they were having live music. Anyway, our server Andre was okay. Service could've been better. By the end of the service I think he got lost and forgot our side of Yuca. Drink were okay too. For apps, we got Fried Calamari and Shrimp Ceviche. They were alright too just same like other restaurants. The pork chops that I ordered were a little dry. And my boyfriend's skirt steak were the same. Overall, it could've been better if they were paying attention just because they were having live music. We'll be back to give another chance.

Service is slow but food is amazing.

We made reservations and waited 20 min got seated, served tap water tha tasted like pool water and forgotten another 15-20 min went by before anyone came to the table again, the couple next to us were complaining to when 1 waitress came over.

Terrible service. Been here for 40 mins and not one person has offered to help us. bartenders spent the entire time talking to a photographer instead of helping us with our drinks not one person has came to us in 40 minutes.

Super confused why I was charged $20 cover each person at 9 pm, was told it’s because it’s Latin night. At 11pm still looks like any other bar… also, $8 for a coors lite bottle? Definitely not worth it.

Don’t know why they delay order every time. Inspite of agreed ETA. I came to pickup order. Last time I waited almost 1 hr even today the host says it will take 15-20 mins to get order ready. After waiting for 30 mins , she again told 15-20 mins. No clear information or update. I would suggest guys, plz avoid this restaurant

First time here and NEVER AGAIN!! We were the only customers in the place and it took 2 hours to get our food and it was cold! My son never got what he ordered, we asked for a coffee we got an hour later ALSO COLD and they were rude when we complained about it! Then had to nerve to add $50 gratuity to the bill!!! If you want to eat GOOD, SPANISH FOOD THIS IS NOT THE PLACE!!!

The absolute worst service I’ve had anywhere on the planet. I am typically a big tipper. My tip was zero we waited 30 minutes for drinks. It took an hour and a half for our entrées to come. When they came, Mine was wrong. The other two people in my party ate and they were finished by the time I finally got my food, which was about an hour and 45 minutes into our visit. The manager took 15% off our bill. They are much more interested in having a club vibe then they are on food service. Our waiter was the rudest I have encountered across the planet.
