Pompeii is a wonderful family-owned gem in Los Altos. The service is always friendly and attentive, and the food absolutely delicious. The chicken parmesan, lasagna, and linguine are some of our favs, paired with their fresh homemade bread. You can really taste the care that goes into everything!
We were craving a carbonara but we tried plenty of other items on the menu as well. We must have been hungry because we ordered a garlic shrimp and a bruschetta for appetizers. Then a risoto, bolognese, tortellini and a medium pizza Pompeii. For dessert we shared a limoncello tartufo. Service was great. The style was more of an old school Italian, nice sauces, perfectly cooked pastas. The pizza bread was thick kind and the toppings tasty. Our favorites would be the tortellini and bolognese but the rest were equally nice. The dessert was divine and I am usually not a fan of lemon. Bread is served with dinner with butter and a nice dipping sauce.
Very nice , friendly and welcoming set of folks here. Awesome service. We ordered gnocchi , penne and spaghetti . Loved the spicy arabiatta sauce , home made marinara and the Gorgonzola sauce . Would definitely recommend visiting this restaurant.
Pompeii, haven’t explored in depth — will update this post eventually ; but for now enjoy multimedia of the interior.
The perfect end to a Sunday for me is a comforting Italian dinner, and Pompeii gave me that! First time but not the last. Attentive service and the staff all of them are super friendly! I had a glass of Sauvignon and the Alfredo plain- and it was made perfect. Thanks Pompeii! Cheers
Incredibly solid Italian. Everything was delicious! Staff were also very attentive and helpful.

Delicious and fresh cooked pasta, with friendly and thoughtful service! Gabriel and Felipe are amazing, adding their personal touch in every dish. If you are lucky, you can catch one of their freshly baked bread or homemade flan and tiramisu. Totally recommend them!!
Love this place. High quality Italian food. Very accommodating. Usually I get take out but a few times I’ve sat in. They are very authentic with great options for dietary restrictions. Very nice people working there. Highly recommend!
Probably our most visited restaurant. Their bread and its dipping sauce is very special and probably the best of the kind. It's free and refillable. The size is big, most entry is enough for two. My recommendation would be the steak, and the garlic spaghetti (sorry, I don't speak Italian). The service and the environment is also very comfortable. The only thing we don't like is the cellphone signal, but well, maybe a good thing to enjoy the meal.

Food: The salad is a bit too salty but the seasoning tasted so good! The pastas are also cooked nicely at al dente! The portion is very filling. One little pettiness is the seasoning of the linguine scampi. The flavors are not cooked into the shrimps which make it a bit less enjoyful while dining. Service: the staff is nice but it seems like the time we visit is almost their closing time or it was a down time in the town, so they didn’t really put too much of attention to our table, which is a good and bad thing. We got to have some nice time without being interrupted. Ambiance: nice and clean, suitable for small family gathering or dating.
Very friendly service. The food is original and tasty. The veggie pasta could have used more sauce. The food took a while to come to the table (about 40 minutes). They were generous with the extra Parmesan (love the cheese!!). Nice ambiance. Great place in Los Altos for a taste of Italy!
The food was amazing!! We had spaghetti carbonara, the server noticed that we were going to share our food, so they asked to confirm if we wanted to share, and it came with two plates of pasta! (very considerate!) The margherita pizza was delicious besides it’s not thin crust.. but still good! Tips: if you order sandwiches or something with bread, you won’t get a plate of the house bread unless you ask for it! (they were delicious!!!)🤤
The pastas were absolutely out of the world. Please try all the pastas. They are all amazing. The tortellini was the best though others were pretty close. The pizza was just ok. Maybe one step below average. Service was great. We saw Chef Chu also in the restaurant from the restaurant Chef Chu. Servers very polite.
Good Italian restaurant, been going there for several years. It is located in downtown Los Altos, so you could go there after waking around downtown. Their roasted sun dried tomato based dip that they serve with the bread is awesome. The entrees are largely the typical Italian stuff pastas, some steak, etc. I like their arabbiata sauce, I usually ask them to substitute the marinara with that. The place is small and cozy, usually crowded around 7-8:30 even considering the overflow room they have to the side. In summer you can sit outside, gives you a feel of sitting in a restaurant in Italy. Highly recommend!
When I crave for Italian, I always think of Pompeii. I ordered a linguine Alle vongoe , I really like it. The sauce is not too watery and it's flavorful. The linguine was relative Al dente. We also ordered the fried calamari and it was really good. Some place made them where battered came loose, some place made it too oily. This place get it done right. It's still my go to Italian restaurant.

7/27/2022 Pompeii Ristorante 100 State St Los Altos, CA 94022 On our continuing exploration of downtown Los Altos, the wifey and I tried this place for Italian for a late July lunch. Los Altos has lots of free city parking so we parked at an adjacent lot. This place has a nice setup for patio dining with tables on the corners and ample inside tables. We sat inside and service was fast and good. We ordered the Calamari Fritti, Spaghetti and Meatballs, and Steak Panini. The Calamari was a bit overdone so a little tough, chewy and crispy but this place uses real Cocktail Sauce (with horse radish) instead of the Plain Jane Marinara that most other places use, be sure to ask for at least two ramekins. The wife's spaghetti was a little salty and had nice flavor with generous size meatballs. I was happy with my Panini sandwich though the edges of the steak were tough and chewy. I guess they could do a better job with trimming the meat, but I can handle gristle and fat, so it's OK with me. This was a nice find for our exploration. Good food, service and value. Definitely repeatable. 1/2/2025 Have repeated many times, delicious Italian food. Wifey's favorite is the seafood Fettucine and I like trying different dishes, this time the Capellini Pomodoro, flavorful tomato sauce pasta.

Service was okay and the pasta dishes were tasty. Prices reflect the affluent Los Altos town profile. This diner with bland decor is not not a great value overall. Even a child's menu item is about twenty dollars. The wait staff while nice, lack professionalism. Waiter Juan for example, talks to customers in an uncomfortably loud tone of voice. The Italian eatery is an okay option if you are local, but not worth driving out of your way for.
Very traditional Italian restaurant, seating too crowded and was very noisy with busy lunch hour on a Friday. Food, not bad, but not particularly special either! Service was good!

A busy dinner spot with friendly, attentive service and a warm atmosphere. Worthy of 4 stars with the exception of the prices which are a little steep, but probably in keeping with other nearby restaurants. Pizza was flavorful and had a decent crust that was not too thin, but not a deep dish either, and the salads were good. Only Pepsi products however, so fresh brewed ice tea would make a good addition.

Really normal but expansive American italian food, the pizza taste like frozen, even papajohns is better! and veal is so few that you think it’s some 8 dollars take away, the service is pretty arrogant and awkward, should improve a lot!
