The best Italian restaurant in the Bay Area hands down! The service is really amazing and the food is simply delicious, everything is handmade with lot of love! From pizza to pasta to dessert you can’t go wrong with anything. I’m Italian and this is our family go to place when we want to feel like home 😊
Wow! We - a party of seven, including two children - were graciously accommodated on a moment's notice. The service was wonderfully done by a friendly staff, and we felt very pampered by the warm and personal service. The food options all sounded delicious and we had a good time debating our entree choices. The best part of dining with family is that we got to sample everyone's choice and, honestly, they were all unbelievably good. I'm still thinking about the spaghetti with clams - it was delicious! The bread was a hit with the adults as well as the children. The desserts put the perfect finishing touch on the entire meal. The entire experience made for a memorable occasion. Thank you!
I went here because the reviews were good. At first I sat outside, but it was freezing cold, so then I opted to go back inside. It was still cold inside. For some reason they leave the door open, so it's pretty cold inside. I would definitely recommend to bring a jacket. I was expecting just an average Italian restaurant maybe a little better, but I found a diamond in the rough. When I got there a man who looks like an owner was at my service from the time I arrived till the time I left. Within two minutes my drinks were on the table and I had warm tasty bread with some kind of olive oil mixed with some sort of vegetable I guess. I didn't really understand what he was saying was in the olive oil because his Italian accent was so thick and authentic. I enjoyed that he spoke some Italian to me here and there, because it made the effect of the Italian restaurant come alive. I asked him what was the best thing on the menu. I'm from out of town and I don't really know what to order when I go to restaurants. He suggested some sort of pasta with pork shoulder. I agreed, thinking that it might be pretty good. I was wrong. It was probably one of the best Italian dishes I've ever had. I'm 52 years old and have traveled the world. And I can still say quite honestly that it was one of the best meals I've had. I'm only in town for a week and I plan to eat there at least three more times before I go. I'm going to have the same meal that I ate. So overall the food was amazing and the service was excellent. The food and the service made me feel happy.
We ordered from Tre Monti’s catering menu for a large party. They were very responsive and on time with the food delivery. We had an assortment of foods. All very delicious and fresh with quality ingredients. Everyone enjoyed it. My favorite was the salmon with capers. We will use them again!
Enjoyed the vegetarian panini. The best I have ever had. Freshly toasted flat bread and perfectly grilled veggies. Mildly spiced so you get to enjoy the true flavors. The bread they serve is really fresh, warm and so airy. And super attentive service! Will be back for sure
The whole staff is kind, warm and inviting. Relaxed atmosphere with good food and delicious wine. The homemade pasta is great, and cooked perfectly. The cheesecake is nothing but phenomenal. Absolutely wonderful experience. Can’t wait to go back.
Too bad the amount of outdoor seating was scaled back (probably by the city, not the restaurant). Only problem is some people's expectations (a minority, fortunately) that this place is a routine town sidewalk snack shop, as reflected in comments about being too expensive or the food "nothing special." The food IS special. Very special. One example: the Ravioli ai porcini's mushroom cream sauce delectable, the raviolis perfectly al dente. Other dishes equally flavorful, including a Calzone masterpiece, elevated into a stunning and elegant entree platter. Quality ingredients matched with skill -- a bargain at the price.
So far, this Italian restaurant has been consistently good. The ingredients are FRESH and totally authentic. Best pizza I've had in the entire Bay Area, and a really good wine selection. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere cozy.
We had a dinner date here and the experience was great. The host recommended an orange and pomegranate mixed Italian soda which was delicious! All the hosts were super friendly and we felt welcome and really enjoyed the service. Overall atmosphere and food feel very "Italian". We liked it a lot!😄
It's challenging in California to find a pizza that reminds me of NYC, here they make a delicious pie with "color"! NO BLONDE CALIFORNIA PIZZA!!! The grilled octopus appetizer was delightful, tasty good size on top of arugula...WELL DONE. Tiramisu is delicious. They also have a very nice, albeit small wine selection. We'll be back!!
Excellent and authentic Italian food! Bread was great to start, my meal was both beautiful and tasty (the sea bass), excellent wine, and the tiramisu was very good though maybe a little light on the rum. We will be back when the menu changes for winter
What a nice local treat! My husband and I arrived to find no tables available on Saturday eve and decided to dine at the bar. I'm so glad we did! The Buffalo mozzarella appetizer was delicious. We enjoyed a nice glass of wine and shared a kale salad and a stuffed chicken breast main, which they split into separate plates for us. The service was impeccable and the food absolutely delicious. Definitely our new 'go to' place. ☺️
Great delivery experience. Food always tasty!
First time here and we loved the food and service. The pastas are homemade and delicious. The pizza was delicious with a light dough. Very attentive service. Will definitely be going back.
I work nearby this place and I have had a few clients tell me how great this place is. So I asked my wife out on a date and we ended up here. As soon as we stepped in customer service was amazing. One of the owners was manning the lobby and sat us down quick. Once we ordered, we had our food pretty quickly. There is another owner who is one of their chefs and he is by far one of the best chefs I've ever had the pleasure of tasting their food. I'm not the biggest fan of pasta or Italian but I fell in love with what was made and my wife enjoyed her food just as much and was telling me that she wants to come here every day for breakfast lunch and dinner and I do not blame her. We will definitely be coming back for more dates here.
It is our 4th time eating here and the service is always incredible. Giovanni and his staff are very friendly and attentive. They don’t rush you at all. They make authentic Italian food that is delicious and at your table before you know it. Really calm and inviting atmosphere. Very reasonable prices. Highly recommend. Will be returning soon.
Had spagetti con vongole substituting gluten free pasta and gluten free cheesecake. Delicious from start to finish. Beautiful patio, outstanding service, wonderful atmosphere Gluten free cheesecake to die for! Don't miss this gem.
Edit (8/29): We dined in for my son’s birthday and had 2 margheritas plus the gnocchi (pictures added to my previous ones). Everything was great from the food and service. They also brought my son a birthday dessert with candle. I showed the previous message here for free pizza and they honored it. Thank you, Tre Monti! ************************** I first tried Tre Monti when it was ordered at the office. Someone in my team had it and he was raving about it. I then ordered the Margherita pizza and boy was it good. I then decided to order for my daughter and I. I ordered the Margherita and, it came a little different than the first time. A bit more soft (almost undercooked looking in tiny areas) but we ate it and it was fine. Well, I ordered again. This time for my son to also try. Margherita and Calabrese pizzas. I received 1 pizza (assume Margherita, which is the one I wanted the most) and some pasta plate. Boy, was I disappointed but figured, hey, we have at least the 1 pizza and my daughter can have the pasta (she loves pasta). We had to hurry and eat as (like I mentioned above) she was going to work. Well, I call my son and daughter to eat, open up the pizza and it's the Calabrese one, AND, it is very much undercooked, soggy and can barely pick it up. I had to throw it in the air fryer to speed up cooking for my daughter to eat before going to work. We tried the pasta and that was a fail. It tasted like heavy American yellow cheese. I immediately reached out to Door Dash and their auto chat initially refunded the 1 pizza. I had to reach out to a rep to get the full refund. This was a big fail from Tre Monti.
Had a fantastic lunch at Tre Monti in Los Altos. Nice outdoor seating. Lunch was great. Salmon Panini and Pasta Bolognese in the photos. Service was outstanding. A little on the pricey side but reflected in the food quality.
We've gone here several times. It's a delightful, delicious, authentic Italian restaurant. The pizza is perfection. I really enjoy the stuffed squash blossoms. It's a friendly, lovely place, with excellent food.
Forget the alfredo paste!! the The food is made with ingredients from Italy!!! The owner all the time is thinking about the experience to offer Italian food !!! Tha taste is amazing! Ask for the boscaiola!!! Is amazing 100% recomend
Spectacular place . Both food and service ! Soup , pasta are made daily in a fresh way . Even for a lighted candle and a complementary desert- totally a pleasant surprise!
Had dinner last night ( sitting outside on a lovely evening) at Tre Monti. What a fantastic dining experience, and the hospitality shown by the owner and the chef were wonderful. This place should be packed every night! We had two great appetizers, one was a grilled octopus dish with arugula and the other was grilled artichoke hearts prepared expertly. We also had a pizza special that was squash blossoms over asparagus cream with nduja.(see photo) Because the food was so great and we were having such a good time we also had a pasta course which was a shell shaped pasta cooked perfectly a tad of crunch but soft enough and delicious. The owner also showed us his incredible pasta machine, very impressive. Normally I wouldn't post this glowing of a review, because I (selfishly) would still like to get into this place whenever I want! but if you REALLY like food, and can tell the difference or want to learn the difference between great food and just meh food, you should go to Tre Monti
Place is great every time I come! Would highly recommend the king salmon cream pasta. I had some trouble finding the menu online so, I took some pictures
As a person who is very picky when tying food called “italian” in US, I can admit that place has a strong taste of cuisine which is so rare for the bay area. Totally worth visiting if you prefer non americanized italian dishes
By far the best Italian restaurant in Los Altos, since my husband and I moved from NYC to the area. We also had the burrata with prosciutto and candied walnuts, sooo good. Didn’t take a pic because we just dived in. Will go back and try their pizza next time.
Amazing is an understatement. The servers were extremely kind and fast. The food was beyond this universe. We tried the prawns, filet mignon, pastas, pizza, salad, and bread. This place by far had the best filet mignon ive ever had. The mushroom cream sauce was flavorful and perfectly complimented the meat and asparagus. The meat was extremely soft and just melted after every bite. A newborn could chew through their perfectly cooked meat. It was just phenomenal. The quality of the food left me speechless. The pizza also had an amazing crust that took on its own exquisite, delicate flavor. Also, the bread. Superb. It was a nice, fresh taste that spoke to their food's superior and fine quality. Overall, I was extremely amazed with this place and would defenitely go back any day.

I rarely write long reviews, but Tre Monti absolutely deserves one. I've been back multiple times, and each meal has been nothing short of outstanding. My Favorites: 1. Porcini e Tartufo Nero Pizza – The earthy richness of the porcini mushrooms paired with the delicate aroma of truffle is next-level. The flavors are so well balanced, and the crust—perfectly crisp on the outside, chewy in the center. 2. Pizza Genovese – Equally amazing. The pesto is vibrant and fresh, with a depth of flavor. If you're a fan of basil, this one will win you over instantly. 3. Spaghetti alla Bolognese – Comfort food done right. It’s the kind of dish that tastes homemade, and this is my kids' favorite. What I appreciate most is the consistency. Every time I visit, I know I’m in for something delicious. The ingredients are top-quality, the portions are generous, and the plating is thoughtful without being fussy. The staff are always kind and attentive, and the atmosphere is casual but elevated—perfect for both a cozy dinner date or a relaxed meal with family or friends.

We came upon this restaurant by chance and were so pleasantly surprised by our meal. Our food was extremely well prepared and went beyond the old standards. Service was very attentive and helpful. We'll be returning soon!
The most authentic Italian restaurant in the peninsula. We have been going here the last few years and it’s the best Italian food outside of Italy. We love esp their pizzas and appetizers. My family likes their pastas too. Great espresso and tiramisu as well. The owner is from Italy and he sources a lot of his ingredients directly (he travels there) from Italy. Really friendly and attentive servers too. Best kept secret in Los Altos!
Delicious food. It's a bit on the pricey side but the Pasta taste is unique and so tasty. The service was great and the vibe of the restaurant and the area was also great.

Pizza, pasta, kind of expensive for lunch. Excellent service.
Not sure what it would be like for a busy dinner, but service for lunch was excellent. The homemade pasta was delicious and we loved the atmosphere. Great spot. Just a 4 star instead of 5 because my Carbonara had way too much sauce. But it was really great overall and we will return.
It's my go-to Italian restaurant. The wine selection is good enough for me (I'm not much of a wine person). The salads are great. Some other dishes are a little over-priced given the quality or portion-size. One of them is the gnocchi. It was a huge disappointment.
Went for a date night with my husband. Reached late around 8:40 pm and the place was mostly empty. Peak time for them is between 5:30 to 7:30 pm and after that its quite open. There are quite a few options for vegetarians in Antipasti menu, fewer in the main course. I felt that the food lacked flavor. Spaghetti could have used more salt. Service was quick and all servers were nice and polite. The best of all was the tiramisu. Got to talk to the pastry chef and saw the Basque cheesecake come out. Will definitely go back for dessert here, not so much for the food.
Friendly service. Food was pretty good. The gnocchi was a bit mushy and the tomato and basil sauce it was in was not very good. They also are card only but charge you a feefor using your card.
Tre Monti is a what an Italian food experience should be. The dishes have all the familiar names, but bursting with flavors that are uncommon and delicious. The presentation of the food is beautiful. Try the buratta, eggplant parmagina, the seafood risotto to get a full experience of the complex flavors. Definitely devour the warm bread and olive dip - it is wonderful. The two gnocchi dishs we ordered were good, as were the two pizzas for the kids. Please know that the service is slow, and you have to try to get attention of the staff to get water or place the order. Go in prepared, but definitely go to Tre Monti.

Tre Monti is a missed opportunity. It's a passable restaurant in a great location. The food was disappointing. The service was good. Prices are a bit high but reasonable for the area.
I was disappointed with Tre Monti. The service was slow and inattentive despite (because?) the place being almost empty. The food was uneven - some dishes were great like the ravioli, but most were not, like a soggy pizza. The prices are high even considering the location, and I was disappointed that some dishes were really small, like the gnocchi. I also hoped for more vegetarian options. I will probably not be coming back.
The pasta was okay, the fish was not fresh. Service was a bit slow. Also ordered appetizer. Salad was good. Croquette so expensive $6/piece and there was only 3. Total we spent $146.
We tried the place on a bust Friday night. They didn't have a table but there was room at the bar. The service is really slow but kind of expected, Small staff with a lot of customers. Food was ok but nothing to write about. We got bison pasta and rack of lamb. We also tried the goat cheese salad. They have a very good italian wine selection. Not sure if we will try it again but it was an ok experience.
Found the place very expensive! A bottle of wine costed 3 times what is costs in Safeway. The food is very expensive and not worth $25 entree. The cheese cake was okay. Overall found very expensive and would not recommend anyone

Lovely, cozy establishment in a convenient location with very friendly, knowledgeable staff. We enjoyed our time here, even if the food was lackluster. The menu is reminiscent of our trips to northern Italy, even Tyrolean in some sense, like the mushroom risotto (which makes sense given the restaurant’s name). The menu really is fantastic, which is what drew us in. The fact that there is a specials menu is typically a good sign there will be fresh, creative, thoughtful dishes. Sadly, the quality of the food didn’t match up to our expectations given the prices and obvious homage to amazing, traditional Italian cuisine. I’ll take some of the blame: I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the uninteresting Californian variety of porcini (even though it’s so fresh here) after eating so many wild fresh porcini dishes across Italia’s mountainous areas. But that aside, the rice in the risotto was overdone (and not actually any of the varieties of rice I’ve ever seen in risotto before), it was way too cheesy (almost like a pizza!), and the flavors were notable only for how shockingly bland and uninspired they were. (I wanted to ask the bartender for a zest of lemon to season the risotto a bit.) A pasta dish we had wasn’t much more flavorful or inspired, although the pasta itself was decent quality — fresh and tender, perhaps handmade in house. For dessert, we had a scoop of what was pitched as gelato, but it clearly was not. It was neither high enough fat content nor dense enough to be considered gelato, and the flavor again, barely registering. Nice place, regardless. You should go and try it yourself, and maybe you’ll have a better time with the food than we did.

Overpriced Disappointment at This So-Called "Italian" Restaurant I can't believe I wasted my money at this place. Where do I even begin? First, the steak. I ordered a steak labeled "market price" on the menu, expecting a decent cut. What I got instead was highway robbery at $70! But it gets worse. Instead of a proper steak, they served me burnt strips of meat buried under a mountain of arugula. Nowhere on the menu did it mention the steak would be pre-cut and massacred like this. The sides were no better. The potatoes were burnt to a crisp - apparently, the kitchen only knows one temperature setting: charcoal. We thought we'd salvage the meal with a pizza, but even that was a disaster. The crust was soggy, swimming in a pool of olive oil. I've had better pizza from a gas station vending machine. For these prices, I expect quality. What I got was overpriced, poorly executed food that wouldn't pass muster at a school cafeteria. Save your money and your taste buds - avoid this place at all costs.
Went for dinner with a friend. Place was empty at 630 on a Wednesday. Waiter kept asking for our order when there was no other customers. Water tasted a bit funny. Gnocchi was mediocre and my friend had to send her salmon back to get cooked some more. We were then rushed to pay our bill due to a shift change. Expensive for what it was.
Food was below average. Appetizers and main course were bland, drinks were just ok, and definitely not worth the price. I eat Italian a lot, but this one left me feeling dissatisfied. Service was good. Atmosphere was not -- no AC when sitting inside, while it was 85 deg outside. Overall, very disappointing given the prime location on Main St.
Asked for an extra crispy pizza, what I got was a wet soggy disgusting pizza. They use tinned mushrooms in water and tinned artichokes in water, then appeared to put that water onto my pizza to the point where it was swimming in water. I could've poured it off my plate. The dough was soggy and wet and disgusting. Worst pizza I've ever had. I ate some of the crust and some of the meat off the top, but left almost all of it, but they still charged me full price. This is a terrible "Italian" restaurant.
There was a 20% service charge so I didn’t tip. The waiter decided to write in his own 20% tip on top of the service charge. Management did refund me once I noticed.
I had Carbonara Di Mare and was so so so dissatisfied. Texture was mushy, and was a madeup dish. I had 2 bites and left it. My friends tried it and had the same reaction. Pasta noodles was like soup noodles. Owner and chef told us that since they use fresh pasta, texture is soft, but the taste was off. It was a long time since I had such a horrible food at a restaurant for a high price tag of 24+ dollars. They asked if They can cook me something else but I declined cause I also was disappointed with Risotto Di Mare that was purple color which is odd. Risotto texture and rice was too off. Only good dish we had was pistachio crusted Lamb Chops which tasted good. I won't recommend if you look for real Italian restaurant. I call this a horrible fusion but expected the menu mentioning that.
🍝 Food Impressions: My experience with the food at Tre Monti was less than ideal. • The King Salmon I ordered was unfortunately dry, which was a bit disappointing for a main course. • The Calamari portion size felt quite modest, definitely more fried than meat. • Even the complimentary bread didn't seem as fresh as one might hope for at an Italian establishment. • Overall, for an Italian restaurant in the Bay Area, the dishes didn't quite meet my expectations, particularly given the cost. 💰 Pricing & Value: The pricing at Tre Monti felt quite high for the portion sizes and the quality of the dishes we received. While ambiance can sometimes justify higher prices, the overall food experience didn't quite align with the cost. Ambiente: We chose to sit outside, and the outdoor area was generally pleasant. However, the restaurant was noticeably quiet and rather empty during our visit. While this can sometimes mean a more relaxed atmosphere, it also struck me as a bit unusual for a dinner service. 🤔 Final Thoughts: I had hoped for a better dining experience at Tre Monti, especially based on other reviews. The combination of the food quality not fully meeting expectations and the higher price point left me feeling that it might not be the best fit for future visits. While the outdoor seating was fine, the overall experience suggested that there might be other Italian options in the area that offer better value or a more consistent culinary experience.

The combination of the food quality not fully meeting expectations and the higher price point left me feeling that it might not be the best fit for future visits. While the outdoor seating was fine, the overall experience suggested that there might be other Italian options in the area that offer better value or a more consistent culinary experience.
