Shiso Sushi is a family-owned hole-in-the-wall known for fresh, high-quality sushi at a great price. Customers rave about the meticulous sushi chefs and friendly service, especially Azucena. Some find the location and parking challenging and the menu unclear.

The accuracy with which they complete each order is incredible. I've ordered so many times from here with substitutions, and the order is perfect *every* time. The sushi always tastes fresh and everyone there is friendly! Love this place!!
The food is spectacular. A friend turned me onto the place a handful of years ago. What a culinary gift. I make the drive from the westside just because it's so good! Seriously awesome food. Enjoy!
Great new place with a super nice owner/Chef Paulino. Fresh seafood and quality rolls for a great price. Glad this is around the corner from my apartment, just wish they had some Sapporo but they say that they're working on getting a beer and wine license very soon. Overall great spot 👍
My husband and I have been coming here since they first opened. We absolutely love it here. The sushi is amazing, their speciality rolls are unique and the best! We're treated like royalty every time we come. We went there for pick up when things were closed due to pandemic, and it was our first stop the second things were open again!!!
My girl and I had come here years ago. And only by chance, and with suggestion from another sushi location's parking attendant Arsen since that place was super packed, we came here to Shiso Sushi. And I'm sure glad we did. Got lucky with parking (you know NoHo), and we got sat down right away by the nice hostess. But everyone was super nice and so fast. Always making sure everyone was attended too, from the very nice waitress to the nice gentleman busboy/server. Ok. But the food? To die for, people. Every single order was amazing shrimp and vegetable Tempura to the sushi roll, the Shiso House plate (last item under the rolls). Can't stop thinking about it. It'd been such a long time that we'd visited this gem. But that I won't let that happen again. We'll be visiting much sooner rather than later. Thank you Shiso Sushi staff! Fue nuestro honor comiendo aquí.
Great tasting sushi! They have the tables spaced out for distancing. I had the rolls. My favorite was the Spicy Yellowtail actually. The Shisho House roll was fancy, beautiful, but just ok on the taste. Prices are a little higher than average, but I enjoyed the food.
Ordered sushi for pickup and it was ready very promptly. We ordered a variety of rolls and they were all delicious! They have a big menu, so I'm looking forward to returning and trying something different next time.
Found this great sushi spot while working in the industrial park nearby. The parking lot is small and scary and some characters hanging out front of the liquor store. Once inside, I found the staff to be very friendly; the cute waitress didn’t speak much English but her charm made up for that. The men behind the sushi bar were are clearly well experienced. I enjoyed a bowl of clam miso soup which was perfectly prepared. The clams were tender and super fresh. Next came the sashimi salad. What a surprise to find the greens crispy and dressed just right. The six well per portioned slices of sashimi were so fresh, each piece felt like a zen inspired slice of serenity in my mouth. Perfect texture, perfect flavor. I can’t wait to come back and try the dynamite!
This is a fantastic sushi restaurant! My bf and I went on a Friday night and it wasn't as busy as we thought it would be! We found parking right inside of the plaza it's located in. We ordered the baked salmon CA roll and baked scallop CA roll along with garlic edamame and a seaweed salad. The garlic edamame was OUT OF THIS WORLD good!!! The level of spicy and garlic was perfect and the portion was generous. We completely devoured our rolls and we were really happy with the service and prices. We definitely plan on coming back for more! Great experience and great tasting sushi!
Everything was delicious, food came out the kitchen pretty quickly. Staff is super nice and attentive. They have large bottles of my favorite Japanese beer. While the location is not great, menu is quite reasonably priced and not overly ambitious. Their kitchen is also open a bit later than their peers which was the main reason we actually tried them out. Will definitely come back!
Paulino is the best, the sushi here is amazing and reasonably priced. I've never had such fresh sushi in all the valley. Always a 10/10 here. Anything here is amazing
This is my go-to local Japanese restaurant. They have great tasting traditional Japanese food at a reasonable price. The servers are very attentive and helpful.
Their sushi rolls are tasty and I tend to get their sashimi options and you can taste and feel the freshness and quality of the fish they serve. The spicy garlic edadame has the perfect blend of flavors. I'd also recommend getting hot sake to really enoy the experience of the sushi. The staff is friendly and check on you regularly.
The service I got while I was there was fantastic. They were attentive and offered good recommendations. The sushi was good nothing that was super standout but at the price they offered this is a solid choice. I've been here three times now and I've tried a good portion of their menu now. Service has been great all three times.
Came here with my sister to eat before a movie. Good sushi and quick service. Friendly staff. TVs to watch something while you eat. Nice experience.
One of the best sushi place! Yes, in NoHo:)
I like to consider myself a sushi snob (been to Japan 3 times) and this place is one of the closest I’ve found to out there quality wise. Their fish is so damn fresh, it’s not one of those places that needs to drown it in sauce to hide the flavors because the fish actually tastes amazing. The employees are freaking awesome. Super friendly and they memorize what you like if you come often enough 😂
Allow me to express my genuine enthusiasm for this exceptional sushi establishment. It surpasses the likes of high-priced sushi spots such as Sugarfish or Katsuya. It stands out as a true gem within the valley and deserves your utmost attention. Though it may appear unassuming as a hole-in-the-wall establishment, its charm is undeniable, making it an irresistible destination to frequently visit time and time again. The pricing is fair and reasonable, while the staff exudes kindness and warmth. Being a family-owned business, it holds a wholesome story that adds an extra layer of appreciation to the overall experience. My family goes here weekly- we are regulars :)
Shiso "House" Roll which comes with: Salmon, tuna , yellowtail, crab & avocado wrapped w/cucumber (no rice) was perfect. Baked Scallops roll was the best ever. The other two we tried were not that great. Baked Salmon Roll, not enough Salmon. Chirashi - Assorted sashimi over a bed of sushi rice, I didn't like the fish, especially Tuna.
This Japanese joint is the real deal! The food is super fresh and tastes amazing. The staff are super chill and looked after us really well. If you're in the mood for some Japanese food, this place is the spot. Highly recommend
Awesome presentation, service and most importantly the sushi was fresh. The taste was very good. Not bad at all considering where it's located. My new little spot 😍
Wonderful small business at the corner of Saticoy and Lankershim Blvd, this place is a hole in wall sushi joint, with high quality ingredients, at a great price point, while being family-owned. The sushi chefs are meticulous and particular about their craft, and every roll and soup is made with care. This has become our favorite sushi spot in all of Los Angeles, but you need to try it to believe it.
I thoroughly enjoyed coming here with my family our first night in Cali. The food was really good, the service was great, the atmosphere was calming which was greatly needed. Ended up with a bowl of sashimi (with extra sashimi). Will gladly return the next time in the area.
This new Japanese restaurant earned my 5 with their attention to detail and their focus on authentic Japanese food. I have to say that the Tempura is the best I've had outside little Tokyo. The sushi fish was fresh and tasty; Melted in my mouth. The one item that could have been a little better was the agedashi tofu. Too much nori strips. That took away from the tofu. The Gindara combo plate was delicious and an amazing value. This includes a miso cod filet, mixed tempura, a California roll (or spicy tuna roll), potato salad, rice, miso soup and green salad. What a deal at $23. The highlight was the spicy tuna on crunchy rice. Very tasty and with the cool of the avocado and the crunch if the rice it was a sensational dish. The service was also great. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

I love this place. It's my go to sushi place. The waiters are very nice and the food is amazing.
Good food with good prices. I just ordered take out but might eat at the restaurant next time.
Azucena was excellent! The food was delicious. This is our new favorite place. We will be back soon thank you so much!

It looks like a hole in the wall, and like so many places in LA is better when the food gets there. Everything is super fresh, from the jalapenos, and the pickled wasabi to, of course, the fish. Fantastic for the price, without a doubt.
The place is clean. Has a lot of variety. Their rolls were good. We ordered their "dynamite" it was good we liked the baked scallops but they were too oily,(swimming in oil). My boyfriend likes tempura rolls. He liked their sisho "house" roll. We enjoyed the baked mussels. And the unagi roll. The service was very attentive and nice. The atmosphere is very relaxed and they close till 11 which is a plus. I liked the presentation of the sake, and their michelada was delicious
The place outside looks nothing like the inside. Really nice place. Well kept and clean. The drinks are canned or Mexican bottles. The wait staff was super friendly. The tempura had the right amount of crunchy. Everyone in my party enjoyed the food.
Rock shrimp tempura was really good. Salmon nigiri, salmon sashimi, & salmon belly nigiri melts in your mouth. Rolls are a good size. We had the Alaskan roll, Rainbow roll, and Lemon roll… they were all good and tasty. I would have given 5 stars but the karaage & sauce and salad dressing were not good plus they don’t have everything they serve listed on their menu. Also, the waitresses were unprofessional chit chatting with each other in plain sight when the chefs kept trying to call them over to pick up our order from the counter.

This place felt more like a teriyaki spot than a sushi restaurant. The sushi was just meh. Not bad. But not totally fresh and tasty. What really was yummy and hot the spot was their teriyaki plate. Prices also astronomical. For what I paid for a dinner for two, I could have taken my wife and I to a fancy sushi place closer to Ventura. In summary, you want some good teriyaki, this will hit the spot, if you want good sushi, go elsewhere.
Nice place to go your sushi, total run my Latinos no Asian at a Asian restaurants. Fish is ok service pretty good cost wise for this money I will go to japanese or korean owned restaurants where you can get full taste of Asian cuisine. We go to get take that's about it.
I decided to check the place out since I was close by and was craving a bento box, but they didn’t have the fried veggies or fried shrimp that typically come in a bento box. The staff was friendly, but the restaurant itself was really warm. I ordered a salmon plate and it looked really pretty, but was a small portion, and I felt a little pricier than most other sushi spots that sell the teriyaki bowls and the miso soup had absolutely no flavor to it. The salmon was OK, but like I said a very small piece the rice was decent. It’s kind of hard to mess up white rice. The teriyaki sauce was great. The salad was OK. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the salad dressing at this particular location.
First time here. Ginger tasted like cleaner. Signature roll is awesome but a bit steep for what it is. Servers and staff are very professional and are friendly. I feel they could come to the table more often to see how I'm doing. TIP: If you come here there is limited parking so the night time is better when more businesses are closed. Order house special roll. Tempura is also good but a bit high for what yoi get.
Nice and tasty little spot on North Hollywood for sushi. The down part is you need to figure out from the menu what is what because they have no pictures. The ONE major problem is how tiny the restrooms are and NOT wheelchair accessible. I had asked the server for the restrooms and she pointed them out and NOT once did she mention they were not wheelchair accessible. I would have expected more communication if they see a wheelchair and give a heads up than to make someone go and comeback because they don't fit.

It was our first time eating here. We usually go to Chibas down the road. We got there about 8pm. We got seated right away, prices are very reasonable. But it didn't have that authentic Japanese atmosphere. I ordered their version of the pork cutlet curry. I was not surprised that the pork cutlet was overcooked and hard. Authentic Japanese restaurants chefs know how to cook cutlets to a tee... So that's usually what I'll order, for me to decipher if it's a true authentic Japanese sushi spot.
It is just ok. The roll selection is limited. A lot of cooked/baked type rolls. Sushi is good but smaller cuts. The Wasabi is grainy and not very hot. I had the house special roll, a spider cut roll, and some sushi with 2 beers. 87 dollars and change. I asked if they have a cash discount and they said yes. Hit back 12 and change. I asked about the discount she said, "no I'm sorry". I needed a receipt that took 15 min for them to hand write one. Summary- food just ok. Chefs were great service. Floor servers not good service. Expensive for what you get. I won't come back. Parking lot is super sketchy with homeless and people loitering/drinking by liquor store.
this place is so incredibly mid. would not recommend and is very overpriced. Staff was rude. Additionally got towed in their parking lot because they originally thought we were going to taco bell across the street. Beyond disrespectful and disappointing
I came here because of the reviews but that was the worst mistake. First of everything on the menu you have to figure out what i’m there. The server didn’t know, so we kept looking up what’s in the roll online. I just ordered anything cause I got tired of looking everything up and I ended up picking something with eel and I can’t eat that. I just paid for everything and it came out to be over 60 for food I didn’t get to enjoy. Personally i’d say go somewhere else sushi wasn’t good, finding anything on the menu is you researching what’s in there, and the food made me sick.
Well i ask for 4 California rolls and 4 spicy tuna rolls and adding the lobster roll plate but they gave me like 31 rolls in each plate , which increases the quantity of money that i wanted to spend 98$ was the total, I didn’t even check the plates till I arrived to my place I thought it was expensive because of the lobster rolls , so something that I don’t understand is how in the actual hell the woman who attended me didn’t understand that I wanted four California rolls and four spicy tuna rolls 🤦🏽♂️now i have to eat all of this is unbelievable and clearly I won’t go there no more 😤

Do not go here. The service, the food, and the ambiance are terrible. The sushi tastes like nothing. You should just eat a piece of cardboard instead. Also, the owner had our cars towed after we purchased food from him in order to receive a comission from the tow truck drivers. This costed us over $1000. Scammers and terrible people. I would give them negative stars if I could
