Happy Lemon

So happy we have a legit boba shop in the neighborhood. This review is only for their Passionfruit Green Tea as it's the only one we've tried so far. We got their 50% sweet Passion Fruit Green Tea with aloe and they nailed it. Love how you can actually taste the tea and not just plain syrup. TIP: Order ahead through Yelp/GrubHub to pick-up instead of waiting in line, which can be really long on some days.

I’ve been to quite a few boba spots here in the Bay Area, but the one shop that has won my tastebuds is Happy Lemon! I recently tried the Strawberry Cheesecake boba with 25% sugar made by the amazing Jess and I’m obsessed with the drink! It was the perfect amount of sugar for the boba and was much needed, especially on how hot the Bay Area has been. Top service where my drink was made in less than 3 minutes. Definitely love the ambiance of the location, very spacious, and great spot to bring friends along!

It was pretty slow when I was there, but service was great and my order came up quick. Tried the salted cheese topping for the first time and I gotta say it's pretty damn good! I'll definitely be returning, wish they had a punch card!

Some of the best tasting boba I have had here in the city. Parking is not the best but I haven’t had too much of an issue with that. I had the waffle puff and it was airy and delicious. I recommend the mango boba or the milk tea with puff cream. The place is very clean and staff is nice. My favorite spot to get boba.

I love this Happy Lemon. The location is great with lots of foot traffic, plenty of street parking available around each block in the surrounding area. The owner is really nice and pretty, she handles everything so well Uber pressure as I’ve seen some of the ugly times when they were understaffed, somehow she’s still able to get my drink in a reasonable amount of time!! Bonus for how clean this place is, no sticky floor or tables. Not even any trash/receipts laying around anywhere inside or outside the store.

The drinks are always on point and made to order. Staff is super friendly as well. Best boba spot in SF! Pro-tip, get puff cream on the side to dip with their waffles. It makes it soooo much better! UPDATE: my friend was an idiot and dropped his drink after a visit. The staff made him a new drink even though it was completely his fault. AND they did this while they were busy, free of charge! Now THIS is above and beyond customer service and how you win customers! They honestly didn’t have to remake one considering it was my friend’s fault but they did anyway, one of the best services I’ve ever encountered.

Update: I’ve tried the Green tea with Salted Cheese (50% ice 25% sugar, based on another review I read, with boba) and I think the biggest mistake is that I got a large size instead of a medium size. It took a while until the green tea got a good mix with salted cheese, and until then I couldn’t really taste the salted cheese at all. Once I got to a good taste of salted cheese I understand why everyone likes salted cheese so much - it does add a salty creamy texture to your drink :) I got the Okinawa Fresh Milk Boba (if anyone is looking for the brown sugar drink, this is it!) with 75% sugar, 50% ice and it tasted great!

I visited the one on 4th Street. It’s usually a little busy in the evenings. Good place to try out. They have many options for milk tea, brewed teas. I tried Okinawa fresh milk boba with salted cheese. It was delicious. Must try

Stopped by near the closing time but they were open so ordered a regular Jasmine Green Tea with Boba. It was very disappointing - the tea tasted stale, the boba were hard, and it tasted like water. Unpleasant experience and would not be back since there's no lack of good boba places. I acknowledge it could be a one-off bad experience but life is too short to take risks like these.

Horrible all around. I got the ube milk tea with taro cream puff. The tea tasted bitter, with undertones of plastic (not kidding, unfortunately). Boba was grainy, sweetness and ice level were wrong. I couldn't even get halfway through my drink, despite ordering one of my all-time favorite bubble teas. Service was meh, can't blame them though because it was busy. Acoustics sucked and made me wish I had brought earplugs even for just the few minutes I was inside. Have been to several other happy lemons in the Bay and PNW and never had anything less than a good experience, let alone as bad as this one. Quite sad.

Unfortunately, I had a negative experience here. I saw the barista fill my drink with industrial tap water and then top off with tea. I also received a large drink with only about 11 boba pearls. Upon asking if the store was running low, the barista laughed at me and moved on to the next customer. Safe to say, I lost my appetite. I’ve worked in a boba store for over a year prior. The quality standards should be higher!
