The food here is incredibly fresh and flavorful and authentic. Their sweet fresh coconut was so refreshing and delicious. perfect for cooling down the flavorful dishes. Our food came out surprisingly fast, which was great because we were starving! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, made with fresh ingredients and bold Thai flavors. We may have over-ordered but the food was so good that we finished every last bite. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving authentic Thai cuisine!
Service was great! Food was fantastic, the atmosphere was welcoming I will definitely be back!
I absolutely adore this place. It might be one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the entire city. It certainly is the best one in this neighborhood. The atmosphere is funky and cool with a mid-century Thai cinema theme for the decor. The waitstaff are friendly and good at their jobs The curries are great. The fried rice is great. The samosas are some of the best I’ve ever had. The spring rolls are excellent. The pad Thai is great. You really can’t go wrong. Everything on the menu is worth trying. My only word of caution is that the spicy basil chicken fried rice is actually pretty spicy so watch out if you are not used to the heat. Haha
Tried a bunch of dishes here and everything was amazing and authentic! The shrimp paste fried rice was great—super flavorful with lots of toppings (a must if you like bold flavors). The five spice pork leg, crying tiger, and salted egg yolk squid were all perfect, while the tom saap pork ribs tasted super authentic and spicy (just wished for a touch more lime). Even the wings and papaya salad were on point. Drinks were great too—especially the Blaco Margarita (smooth and tasty without being heavy on alcohol). Overall, this place nails authentic Thai flavors with great execution. Definitely recommend if you’re into bold, spicy, and savoury dishes!
This spot is tucked away in SOMA and offers great service, food, and vibes. Everything we ordered was delicious and served in big portions. For lunch, we had the grilled pork shoulder, pad thai hor kai, and crab fried rice. Definitely want to come back to try more of their Thai street food menu!
Saap has some of the best Thai food in San Francisco Food: very authentic and the spice level is on the Spicer side. I choose medium or 3. Thai hot is very hot. My favorites are the larb salad, som tum poo pla ra, tom yum fried rice, pad see ew and pad Thai. They get very good wokhey on the noodles. I also love the chicken wings and the north east sausage Ambience: Street food vibes. Fun to watch the live counters Price: saap is a little pricey when compared to some of the other options in the city but the taste more than makes up for it IMO. 30-40$ per head is a reasonable estimate for an app and main. Service: friendly servers. They arranged a free desert for us on our anniversary. 10/10 will visit many more times
Had lunch with a friend here and everything was expected very delicious since we were introduced by one of my foodie friends. The Thai food here were authentic and good since I don’t really eat spicy everything was perfect wasn’t over spiced at all. The only thing I would work on is the cocktails, didn’t taste the alcohol 😅don’t get me wrong I’m also not an alcoholic. Other than that everything was perfect
Very good Thai food without having to go to the TL. The food portion is large. They are very generous with proteins in their carb based dishes: like fried rice and noodles. I ordered the crab fried rice and it was huge with lots of crab meat. The chicken wings were also delicious. The Tom yum had large shrimps and lots of veggies. I ordered the duck salad as well. They also provide lime to squeeze. It is quite loud inside with lots of tv. They have some outdoor seating and parking was easy on a Sunday.
The food here is absolutely amazing. This is now my go to and favorite Thai restaurant in San Francisco! I made reservations for a Saturday night at 6:30pm. The restaurant was packed when we arrived, and our table was prepared quickly while there was a line to get in. Everything that we ordered came out quickly and each plate after another was a hit. Everything was absolutely delicious! I really enjoyed the tom saap pork sparerib soup. The soup was rich from the pork ribs with a sour tom yum profile and spicy for medium heat. The crispy pork was delicious and full of flavor with a crispy skin. All of their noodle dishes and fried rice were very flavorful. The north and east Thai sausage was also flavorful, with two varieties of Thai sausages. I also have never tried a Thai crispy rice salad and found it to be a very unique dish that had a nice sour tang and saltiness to it. All of my friends were stuffed from finishing all of the food and we concluded that we'd be back to try more items. Stop by Saap Ver for some great Thai food and experience!
This my second time eating in this restaurant. I did not take pic of my first visit but I ordered their spring roll and pork belly rice meal. Somehow, this is a so so food. For the second time, I tried their pad thai with prawns and fried fish cake. This is good better than food i ordered in my first visit. They take order and serve food fast. The price is on the expensive side but the food quality is good. The vibes in the restaurant is very good. They have large tv with a bar. Very good for drinking and watching sports.
Food: there were several creative dishes on the menu. The food was overall good but is on the salty end. The portion also felt small relative to the price. Be careful, even medium spicy is very spicy. Service: I was a bit disappointed with the service. Next to us was a table with 10+ people. The same server checked in with them multiple times during our 1.5 hour of meal, but never once checked in with us. We had to wait 15+ minutes just to get the server’s attention to request the check.
Nice place with lots of seating inside, they have a few 2 / 4 tops and some communal tables. It gets very busy and I can see why. The food is flavorful, fragrant and just amazing . I ordered the pumpking curry with chicken and a side of sticky rice. You can choose the lever of spice and got the spicy, it was very balanced and delicious.
Very friendly staff, but food is subpar. We ordered the red curry beef, and the spicy chicken basil. Both are too strong in fish sauce flavor. The spice levels are not consistent between the two medium spicy dishes. The curry is also quite runny and the beef is tough.
Maybe it is just a series of unfortunate events but this was the worst meal I've had in a quite a while. I write this at almost 11p because I'm up and nauseous from the food I ate around 5:30pm. So I came here because my first option stopped serving at 4 which I was unaware of until I got there. That sucked especially after having to walk out of a movie before they revealed the 4th vengeful killer or maybe 5th? I lost track. IDK&IDC, it was long and horrible. So this place was close by and I decided to wait for it to open. I had some hope for it, the reviews were decent and I like Thai food and this made me long to go back to Thailand where I had some of the best food experiences. This was not that. The restaurant is decorated cute plays like some house dance music and has a nice vibe so I had some hope for it. I was the 2nd patron in and the restaurant is a good size but it was just us two and they sat me down one table from him so there was him an empty table, myself and then another table along a bench seat wall. I figure that's easiest for the wait staff so no biggie. They took my order I realize before the other guy who was patiently waiting and I thought that was strange cuz how long had he been there not looking at the menu anymore by the the time they handed me mine. Anyway, I order and then he orders. While I watch some TikTok, another gentleman walks in and they sit him in between me and the 1st guy. I thought, really? This whole big restaurant and you're cramming us in the corner together. Then a gentleman and his girlfriend come in and they sit them to my right. We are the only people in there all in the same corner! Then the very first guy has a friend come in to sit with him and a 3rd person joins the couple and thats when my food arrives. So comfy with 8 people surrounding me in an otherwise empty restaurant. Another woman walked in and I thought to myself, well there's an empty chair across from, might as well fill it. They sat her at one of the 20 tables in the middle of the restaurant thankfully because we were all out of room in this one corner. So the food. I ordered a beer, the samosa and the crispy pork with basil from the street food section and they asked if I wanted jasmine rice with that which was extra. The beer was very good, it was the first lager on the list and it was actually the only thing I did enjoy and they got it to me pretty quick. Before the 3rd guy had been seated between myself and No.1. The samosa were...lackluster. Dry, nothing to dip in and served on a lettuce leaf with some sweet cucumber thing which was okay but didnt really go with the samosa at least I couldn't figure out how. I ended up using it with the crispy pork. The crispy pork. Maybe I misread the menu or something but it was room temp? There was a piece in the middle that was warm that made me think it should be a hotter dish but it's not what I was expecting. Basically cold pork with a sweet basil sauce. I wanted to send it back but I've never done that or really had a reason too and I've seen the movie Waiting so Im not about to do that. I can make the best of it. I have some rice too right? Luke warm, no steam coming off of anything. Dry rice, better suited to making fried rice and barely warm. I was sad. I should have ordered soup like the 3rd guy did...at least that looked hot. I played with my food a little, ate the cold rice and the parts of the samosa that weren't so dry. Just wanting to get home, I payed my $60 tab and left a $10 tip because I'm not heartless. Now I lay in bed, in the dark nauseous and having missed a band I was supposed to go see because I had bought tix weeks ago cuz I'm not so stupid as to risk the night getting any worse by getting sick at a show.
We got take-out. I picked it up myself. My wife ordered some rice, papaya salad and a vegetable curry. We spent $61. The curry was mostly the liquid with very little veggies, the papaya salad (meant to be mildly spicy) was so spicy that we could not eat it (my wife likes spicy food and she could not go beyond a couple of bites). So, overall, I would say a very meager dinner with a huge price tag. We had to supplement with some cheese and crackers we had at home to feel we had enough for dinner. So, overall, I would not recommend the takeout.
I had been here long ago and this evening , we decided to order takeout. It was very expensive for two vegetarian dishes with tiny portions. The pumpkin curry was all sauce. The papaya salad was one of the hottest dishes I’ve eaten I’ve eaten in recent memory. Normally, papaya salad isn’t so spicy. There was precious little papaya in it, too, which is kind of funny, but we had to throw the whole thing out. Dried chilies were floating all over it. Meanwhile, as a concession to my husband, I had ordered a mild level version (there’s a choice for that dish) of the tofu pumpkin curry. It was still spicy, so clearly they operate on an unusual spice scale. Two dishes with almost no vegetables and lots of sauce, one inedible. Two orders of rice. Paid over 60 dollars. I had good memories of going to this place years ago but will not be returning.
I dined in to celebrate an anniversary and a job promotion. I had read many good reviews beforehand and was excited for the experience. My partner and I wanted a table for two, ideally by the window. When we asked, the hostess said those tables were reserved for larger parties. I understand seating policies from having worked in the service industry, but the tone and delivery of her response felt off-putting and outright rude. We ended up sitting at the bar instead, which was fine because we were still together and able to celebrate. The person bringing our food from the kitchen was very kind and attentive, and the fried chicken on the chicken fried rice was excellent. The appetizers were good as well. My tom yum soup, however, was extremely strong and unpleasantly pungent, almost as if an excessive amount of fish sauce had been added. I cook Thai and Chinese food at home and have had this soup many times at other restaurants, so I know how it should taste. While the food itself was mostly fine, this dish was a disappointment. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the meal. The server, who had seated us, never came by to check on how the meal was, and the bartender did not engage with us either. Aside from the kind person bringing our food, we barely had any interaction with the staff. No one spoke to us beyond seating us and taking the check at the end. The overall experience from the staff felt cold, inattentive, and unwelcoming - 0/10. I was very disappointed, as we had looked forward to enjoying a nice dinner in the city. While the food itself was okay, the service was absolutely unacceptable. Based on this experience, I will not be returning, and I hope others do not encounter the same level of rudeness. I’m hoping that next time we visit the city, we might have a better experience elsewhere.
