Amazing food. Great oysters. Incredible specials. Nice cocktail menu.

Great views and great service. Best Bone in Rib-eye. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Worth every penny! Only wish the noise level was a bit more controlled, but not really sure how a restaurant could even do that when the dinner guests are so happy! I will definitely try to return next time I am in the area.

Amazing staff and food. Went for dinner and ordered the king cut prime rib with French onion soup. The soup was amazing and the prime rib was made to perfection. Will definitely be coming back.

Cathy and Jessica at the bar were incredible and on point with service. Drinks were poured right and timed right. They were easy to talk to and made the evening, loved the service soo much.

A hidden gem in the suburbs! Gale Street Inn – Diamond Lake in Mundelein is an underrated secret that more people need to know about. My friends and I originally planned to head into the city for dinner, but we ended up switching plans and coming here instead, and I’m so glad we did. The food was outstanding, especially for the price, and the view of the lake added such a relaxing, scenic touch to the evening. The atmosphere really stood out: quiet enough to have a real conversation, yet still lively. It made for a perfect dinner setting. Service was solid, and here’s the best part, their bread and butter might just be the best I’ve ever had. No joke, it was that memorable. Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for great food, a peaceful lakeside vibe, and a place that feels like a true local gem.

Went there last night for our 19th anniversary dinner and they simply knocked it out of park. This is really an excellent restaurant. Everything was perfect! The quality of the food is off the charts!

Excellent food. Slow service, but a very busy night. The whole place sang happy birthday for somebody. The prime rib was HUGE! King cut $60. Ribs were excellent... $35 I will be back!

Ask to get seated on the window side so you can see the lake! We enjoyed our dinner but seeing the sunset as we left made us wish we were seated that direction. Things we ordered: - Prime Rib, Queen cut. Delicious - The beets salad - one of the best restaurant salads I’ve had. I ordered with no alterations and shared my dad’s prime rib- it is the menu ‘steak’ option. - the house salad with salmon. Salmon seems kinda of a pricey add on but you get an entire piece of salmon. Delicious! -Pork ribs. The bones slid right out! Noted by family as delicious and tender and the BBQ sauce was tangy. The restaurant said they cook them for 4 days. (Idk I can’t eat pork). Chocolate mousse cake: very good! Parking lot has a few divots and such so if you have a walker or wheelchair be a little careful. The entire restaurant is ADA friendly though. Dessert took a little while to arrive but the service for dinner was fast!

Excellent service food was exactly what I ordered. Everything was perfect high recommended. Chef Jose was very professional. The level of detail on the presentation was beautiful and food was cooked perfectly. The perfect balance of flavor, freshness, texture, aromatic, and color. Exceptional from start to finish. Went for lunch with family. Had the French Onion soup, it was delicious. Also tried the baby back ribs, also delicious. Beautiful views of Diamond Lake, nice atmosphere & great service. Spoke with Bill the owner, very attentive & helpful. Highly recommended place!

In town this weekend for the Annie Oakley shoot and came across this Gem!! The meatball and polenta was absolutely amazing. The pork chops were super tender, my sister got the special pork shank and it was wonderful! The atmosphere was great and service was top tier! Highly recommend.

Had my 60 the class reunion here today and everything was amazing. From the food to the service and the cleanliness and atmosphere.

I have not been here for at least 15 years and it is my loss. The place is beautiful service amazing and food even better. From the appetizers to meal it was 5 Star all the way! The NY Strip was perfectly cooked the flavor was one of the best. My wife’s salmon was done to perfection and a huge portion. The Prime Rib was a Queen cut and done to perfection. The house salads are the nicest I have had. Please go and enjoy!

This really is the best kept secret. Food was phenomenal, hubs got a filet and huge lobster tail, I had a filet with mashed potatoes. Crème brûlée is on point. Service is top notch. We will def be back

Outstanding food!! Great service and a really classy atmosphere. I had the famous "fall off the bone" ribs and prime rib. The ribs were an excellent representation of this style of Chicago ribs, extremely tender, high quality baby back pork ribs with a char finish and a tangy bbq sauce (served on the side). The prime rib was cooked perfectly and came with a homemade horseradish sauce on the side. Great wine selection, Bill the partner there was really knowledgeable about the list and it was obvious that they've put a lot of thought into the selection. I'll be back soon to experiment with more of the menu items! Today I tried the Happy hour specials and I have to say these are some of best specials I've ever had!!

We had my mother and Aunt's birthdays there. The food was delicious. The service was spot on and so friendly. It was absolutely lovely!

Our waiter Mario was knowledgeable on menu. Very good service and entertaining. My Birthday dinner was amazing. Seating near fireplace. BEST Ribs in town.

Excellent presentation and perfectly prepared meals. The fresh oysters were fantastic. The skirt steak and whitefish were presented as well as they tasted. Save room for dessert as the tiramisu is top notch@

Can’t beat this place for ribs. Been going for decades. They still fall off the bone they are so tender. Service is great, lovely dining room across the street from Diamond Lake. Good wine list and extensive menu. We would go more often if it wasn’t so pricey but it’s our go-to spot for special occasions.

I grew up going to the original Gale St. Inn when I lived in Chicago but this location just blew me away. The atmosphere is very modern, the service is outstanding and the food was delicious. Everything was clean and organized even with the winter blizzard from this past week with happy staff there despite weather conditions. Also, Bill, the GM, was very polite and walked around to all people at the restaurant to greet them and speak with them. We drove almost one hour cause of the winter storm and would gladly do so again as we loved this location more so than the original in the city. Hands down, amazing experience.

Curtis and staff were Unbelievable..... Food is honestly the best we've had for the price We do Half Slab... combo with Prime rib.. split with wife and get extra mash.. perfect amount and Just Fireee!!!!! 🔥 🔥

We love Gale Street. The food is incredible. The staff is exceptional. The view and ambience are unbeatable. Would recommend this place every time. Can’t wait to go back.

Food was superb, service was even better. I sat at the bar where Curtis was out server. I had ousters, lamb and steak. All better than the last. I got the max and cheese as well and it was a mount Rushmore of Mac and cheese

We hosted our daughter’s Baptism luncheon at Gale Street Inn (Mundelein) in July 2025, for about 30 people. I worked directly with Head Chef José who was absolutely great to work with! We were able to customize a few select dishes to be offered for the luncheon. They printed menus for us. We were able to go in the evening before and set out decor. We were also able to store our sheet cake in one of their fridges. And they cut it for us after lunch was served. The food was amazing (great sized portions!) and the atmosphere & servers awesome. Thanks again Chef José! We would definitely host another event here again!

Had the most wonderful baby shower here a couple of weekends ago! The food and service were outstanding. Our guests got to choose from Prime Rib, Salmon Piccata, and Chicken Marsala. A lot of our guests complimented the food and the large portion sizes they received. It was truly delicious! I appreciate how attentive the staff was as well as willing to help us out in any way. They even allowed for my parents to get there the night before to start decorating the space which my parents really appreciated. Another thing that the Gale Street Inn did for my parents was, they created and printed out menus for each of the plates and made a really cute sign for the mimosa bar and coffee station!!!! What other restaurant would do that? Thank you! I am so happy my parents threw my baby shower here at the Gale Street Inn! Thank you for knocking it out of the park!

Had Zuppa Di Pesce with linguine pasta and white sause. My wife had Whitefish Almondine. The presentation was amazing and was perfectly cooked. It was the best seafood we've ever had. Ironic Gale Street is known for their ribs and steak. Not cheap but was well worth it.

Hands down a great place. Filet was perfect. Madelyn was the best bartender. Looking forward to return trips.

Far and away our favorite restaurant! Never have had a bad meal there. The chicken vesuvio is amazing but so are the pork chops, pasta and fish. You really cannot go wrong! They always have a wonderful specials offering as well.

I don’t usually write reviews, but I had such a great experience here that I had to share. I came in with my wife and kids last week for our first time after being recommended by some friends. From the start, our server Madalyn was such a pleasure and made our dining experience wonderful. It was our first time here, so naturally we had a lot of questions for her. She was so knowledgeable and she was so kind and patient with us. It can be difficult bringing in our kids to sit down somewhere but she was so great with them, we loved having her serve us. We started off with the lamb lollypops and could not get enough of them they were to die for. For our entree we got the ribs and shrimp combo as Madalyn told us they were famous for their ribs. They absolutely delivered! The meat fell right off the bone and the smoky rub mixed perfectly with their sweet barbecue sauce. We will definitely be coming back to try more of the menu and will be requesting Madalyn as our server. Thank you!!

One of the best spots in central Lake County for fine dining. I highly recommend for a classy date night, a wholesome family gathering, or a few drinks and nice dinner when flying solo. Great views of Diamond Lake boost the atmosphere.

I had such a great experience with my husband and our children. Our server William was so attentive and made sure that my son’s food allergies were well catered too. I cannot wait to come back on a date with just my husband. Truly, a hidden gem with great staff.

Amazing experience & even better food. We celebrated our anniversary here & they went above and beyond for our anniversary by providing us complimentary champagne & a surprised dessert for the day. Very generous and kind. Our server Aden was very attentive & gracious with his service. He helped make our special day even that much better. A beautiful and classy restaurant. We will be coming back!

Have been back a few times since this review. New owners a couple years ago. Menu and quality of food fantastic. They went from supper club to a relatively high end restaurant. Steaks, chops, seafood great. Comfortable spot and great bar friendly bartenders. The prime rib and king crab legs excellent. Combo to. Salad and windowed dining room make for a great comfort food dinner.

This is my second visit since the remodel and the decor and atmosphere is still great. My chicken Vesuvio was not up to the usual standards. The potatoes were hard and chicken was overcooked. The rest of the dishes ordered was great!

Food and service were excellent. Shared full slab of ribs and the beet salad. Yum. The Williams Cabernet was delicious. Disappointed that they don't offer an IPA beer, but good wine selection.

Honestly the food was good and service was fine but this place is way overpriced. There are only a couple entrees under $40 and most were $50+. I can eat in a good restaurant in the city for less than this.

The bread they served before the meal was amazing, and overall the food was okay—not anything mind-blowing. The service was excellent across the board, but given the taste of the food, the prices felt a bit over the top. The seafood didn’t feel all that fresh.

Have not been there in a couple years, use to go all the time. New owner skyrocketed prices. 65 dollars for a prime rib? Double price from before. Noway never paying that much. I had chicken vasuvio wife had a small steak, potatoes was hard, chicken eatable but with the food to high priced, not that good, we decided Never Going Back. It used to be a great place, high prices no more self serv salad bar. Place really went down. Very sad.
