We love Maria's. It's "Spanish" food so kind of close to a lot of what you'd expect. Once in a while it's hot as heck inside but that's about the only ding I've ever had against it. Sitting outside when weather permits is perfect!

Maria’s is my favorite place for safe gluten-free Mexican food on LI. Options are labeled on the menu and the food comes out with an allergy flag every time. The staff are very accommodating and knowledgable about safe options. Make sure you ask for the gluten free chips!

Absolutely outstanding Latin cuisine. My party of four had Mexican carne asada, a Spanish shrimp dish,, Mexican chicken and rice and Cuban roast pork with the crispy skin. All of the food was absolutely outrageous. Unfortunately the service was slow but we were there on a holiday evening so we'll cut them some slack. Will absolutely go back Update: we've eaten here a few times and just used them to cater a party. They are still outstanding and would recommend them to anyone who's looking to cater an event. Best restaurant in the area!

Maria's is a hole in the wall type joint that has been there forever. It is very small and very popular so getting a seat without a reservation can be difficult. The menu selection covers all of the typical favorites. The potato ball appetizer is amazing. All of the food was served hot, the portions were generous and the food was delicious! The owner is very friendly and the staff were constantly refilling drinks and made sure that everything was perfect. Definitely worth the visit and we look forward to going back,

I ordered here for my family for the first time about a week ago and all the food was spectacular, except for one steak that was actually for me. I called and expressed my dissatisfaction and was met with the best customer service you could’ve asked from anybody. They offered to give me a whole replacement meal and to deliver it to my house, but at the time I was already tired from the day and just wanted to go to sleep. Instead they offered me credit which I cashed in on today. The food I received today was spectacular, down the last bite. I appreciate good food, but even more so I appreciate great customer service and human understanding. Based on that alone I would certainly recommend this restaurant to anybody who is curious for the first time. I don’t think you can go wrong. Well done Maria’s! Thank you so much! I look forward to dining in soon.

We love this place!!! The food quality and taste has never disappointed. The servers are attentive. The ambience leans towards romantic. Their Sangria is really tasty. The only Debbie downer is parking during busy times, but if you're an original city folk, this is something you're familiar with; regardless, it's worth it!!!

Good food, great service and an endless bowl of chips and salsa.

I called this afternoon to see if Maria's could accommodate 8 plus a high chair for 6pm. They agreed, and although the parking can be a little tricky if the place is packed it is worth it! We were sat right away, our drinks were delicious! I recommend the coconut margarita frozen, and the passion fruit margarita on the rocks, so yummy! It was our first time here, and won't be the last! Our food was very good, everyone was happy and some of us had special orders but everything came out perfect and correct (a hard feat normally but during a pandemic, impressive!). The hostess was very nice and friendly as were the waiters who served us. Great place, thank you!

Fabulous food and drinks plus an amazing staff. Your water glass will never be empty and your chip basket will always be full. The staff works as a team so you never need to wait for 1 server to assist you. The service is truly at a fine dining level. Their birthday song is so fun and you leave with a full belly and some to bring home. The Margarita's are amazing and the strawberry mint mocktail was delicious. The carne asada with plantains was perfectly paired together. They even have some plain dishes for your picky eaters and a refreshing gluten free menu. The building is spotless inside and out and the patio area is beautifully tiled.

Can we take a minute to talk about how incredible Maria’s is? I treated my friend here to celebrate the big 4-0 birthday, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. From the moment we sat down, we were hooked. The homemade salsa is absolutely delicious, and it’s way too easy to fill up on chips and salsa because of how good it is. We started with the Calamari Frito Tropical, which was crispy, flavorful, and had the perfect tropical twist. For entrées, the table was filled with amazing dishes: the Ensalada De Carne Asada was fresh and packed with flavor, the Ropa Vieja was tender and rich, and the Fajitas came out sizzling with that mouthwatering aroma. The Mexican Street Corn was an absolute standout, creamy, smoky, and perfectly seasoned. And let’s not forget the Churrasco Argentino, which was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. Maria’s isn’t just a restaurant. It’s an authentic Mexican experience. I often frequent this place, as does my family, and it’s truly a staple in the Nesconset community. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service makes every visit feel special. Highly recommend for any celebration or just a night out with amazing food!

From the minute you get in, you feel welcomed. The food was delicious, and the attention from the servers was outstanding.

I was there on a Wednesday and it was busy, but no wait for a party of 2. There were many large groups celebrating birthdays. The staff all join in and sing if you enjoy that sort of thing! I got a special, mahi fajita. It was very good. The menu is expensive and has something for everyone.

Food was delicious, 3 people ordered from the specials, I had the Enchiladas del mar. And we had the churro bites for dessert. Drinks and service were great too! Will definitely be back.

Great food and an incredible number of gluten free choices. So many it was difficult to choose. A bit costly, but quite large portions and nice dress up place. Post Covid Update: they changed their menu, a little smaller but still SO many great options, most are Gluten Free, and they added back the stuffed sweet plantain!

Service was great. Food was absolutely delicious. I got the small ensalada de ceviche which is definitely still big enough for two portions especially after they put the chips and salsa on the table. My fiancé got the maduro relleno which he loved and said it hasn’t changed at all since he came here as a kid. Will definitely come back.

It had been years since I was here, and I'm glad I returned. Somehow the food has gotten better. Had an excellent carne asada meal and finished with a tasty fried ice cream. Highly recommend, just save time to find parking.

My wife and I come here as often as we can. Never disappoints and we always leave fully satisfied. EDIT: Came for dinner a few nights ago and finally remembered to take pictures of the food and drinks prior to digging in. We usually dive right in and wind up forgetting which is a true testimant to how good the food is. I had the Churrasco a la Pobre. One of my absolute favorites here. The wife had the Carne Asada pictured across the table and my son had a chicken quesadilla. The drink of choice for the night was a mango mojito.

Maria's is a great place for incredible food and cocktails. The customer service from the staff is top notch. Their Margaritas and Long Island Ice Teas are the best I have ever tasted and their quesadillas are out of this world. They have an amazing selection of food and drinks. Their outside patio is beautiful. I highly recommend Maria's. Just tried for the 1st time their Hanger Steak with eggs and potatoes....out of this world! Their Fajitas del Mar (seafood) was incredible!!

I highly recommend this amazing gem on any given day, however, last Thursday was absolutely amazing! Maria’s already boasts special pricing on their delicious margaritas and live music on Thursdays. We somehow got lucky enough to show up on a very special night last week. They debuted a special tapas menu to die for! We feasted on filet mignon smothered in queso, jumbo garlic shrimp, and a gorgeous dish of fried avocado and artichoke hearts, while being serenaded by their amazing mariachi singer on his acoustic guitar. Our server informed us that this menu was a trial but we believe Maria’s should make these items available more frequently! Such a romantic and fun night! Please see the photos attached here.

Great service and food! You get free chips and salsa, which is a bonus. Pretty large menu with lots of options. The Cuban quesadilla is the best and the margs are delicious! Only downside is the parking situation, especially on a busy night.

We have eaten here many times and the food is always excellent. This time we had two of the specials and they were superior. Seafood nachos appetizer and a dinner that was a combination of steak, fried pork, spanish sausage, sweet plantain, fried egg, white rice and beans. Please add these to the regular menu. We would love to have them again.

I have no idea how I haven't come across Maria's before?!?! This is my new favorite spot! Atmosphere was great, service was very attentive and friendly, drinks were on point and food was phenomenal! You could literally taste the freshness in every bite! The only con is that it's not closer to home, but I'll be making the drive at least once a month now that I've "discovered" Maria's! Ten stars!!

I can't say enough about how amazing this place is. The staff are friendly and courteous. The atmosphere is beautiful! Feels as if you walked straight into a Caribbean beach front restaurant. The food is priced well and delicious! My wife and I ordered 2 tacos with rice and bean side. The chicken tacos were juicy and soft. The steak taco was by far the best steak taco I have had and I've visited many a taco places. The sauce they use on the tacos is delightful! Rice and beans were delicious too! Not dry or hard. Cooked just right. The piña colada was not overly sweet which was a surprise. Many places make it too sweet. The desert we ordered was the cheesecake chimichanga! Boy what a treat! It was the perfect compliment to our lunch meal. The cheese cake filling was soft and the ice cream with a slice of orange underneath was good too. The orange slice gave the ice cream a hint of orange flavor 😋 👌. Its our 4th visit and we will be going again!

We had a great time the hostess might have forgotten about us which was a little bit disappointing but I am rating 5 starts because of the waitress Yudith (I hope I am spelling her name right) she was so pleasant, fast and made sure everything was done right. She recommended a delicious drink and got our food order quick. Had the steak quesadillas for appetizers delicious and I had the Argentinian steak with rice and red pinto beans cooked to perfection.

While passing by, my husband and I decided to pop in for a quick bite and I'm so glad we did! The appetizers were delicious, I highly recommend the Cuban Quesadilla! The stuffed plantain was very good as well. The holiday drink specials were also yummy and aesthetically pleasing. The holiday decorations are everywhere and immediately put us in the holiday spirit. We plan to come back and try the entrees very soon. Thanks to the staff for making it a pleasant experience.

The food was very good this time. We did go the night before V day, and it was busy, so the service was okfor the crowd size. I had been there before and the food was only ok that time. So, it's 50-50. I will go back again because I think maybe the first time was an off night.

The food was delicious! The portions were generous. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and some spicy shrimp plate that I forgot the name of. My work peers and I were having dinner for the evening, and yes, it was cold outside. But man inside was it ridiculously warm. It stood like that for about 45 minutes before anything was rectified. Overall, the place is pretty tiny. But great food overall! I do recommend if you're looking for Hispanic cuisine.

A quaint Mexican restaurant. Great place if you can get seating for a get together with friends. The food is as good as your company. Definitely try the signature sangria.

Went with the wife for dinner. We were immediately brought to a table, no wait. Cozy dining area. Menu is traditional Mexican cuisine. Got a quesadilla appetizer to start. Very hot and tasty. Perfect starter for us to share. We both ordered the combo dinner of taco, burrito & enchilada with various meats. Everything was served quick and arrived on an extremely hot dish. Solid portion of food. Very fresh tasting. Ordered the churro for dessert. Arrived with hot raspberry sauce, chocolate & caramel dipping dishes. The caramel is where it's at! Overall a solid meal and dining experience. Will probably go back again when the urge for a Mexican meal kicks in.

Tasty Mexican food. A little over priced in my opinion, but I'm not from the area. I had an excellent dish of carne asada. It felt a little more upscale than your average Mexican restaurants in Texas and California.

The taste of paella is ok and I also like the shrimps. Their outdoor decorations are beautiful. It is like a small garden near the street. My favorite is the wall painting of sunflowers in front of the parking lot.

Food was amazing very authentic and flavorful. Portions are very generous however the service was terrible. Our waitress did not even stopped to check if we needed any drinks refills. The restaurant was very crowded on a Monday night. Maybe they were short staffed. Food took a long time to arrive too.

Loved the building artwork. Hostess was being trained the night we went and both young ladies were pleasant and helpful. We didn't have reservations (wasn't aware you could make them), but were quickly accommodated. From the outside the restaurant appears smaller than it is, but once inside there is space. They have limited outside tables and they seem to fill quickly. Menu has a large selection to choose from and nobody from our table was disappointed. Portion sizes were large enough to make a second meal from the leftovers. My son tried the chimichangas and they are his new favorite! Prices were good, food was good...we will be back.

New in the city. Found this place according to the reviews. Partner ordered chicken fajitas and was happy with this meal. I had chicken tortilla salad. It was fine for me. I think there wasn’t enough sauce. Like the salad didn’t has the final component that it was tasted all together. But it’s based on my tastes opinions. The place is comfortable and had a lot of locals. We was there at 5 pm and it was quite busy.

Note that locating the restaurant and parking areas are a little tricky if you are unfamiliar with this location. It was a sunny pleasant day so we were. Seated in the outdoor area that was visually screened along a busy and noisy street. Visually pleasing, auditory intermittently disturbing. This would contrast the interior enclosure of the seating section. The appetizer offered are varied and appealing and we chose the chicken quesadilla and tostados con todo while waiting for the beverages. Both dishes were outstanding and well proportioned! Highly recommended. The drinks were pleasing to the eye and top shelf from the mixologist’s skilled hands. However, the server did not provide a straw for the glass that needed it and walked away resulting in a long wait before we could toast. We shared the chipotle glazed salmon. On first cut, it was almost completely raw! I had to get up from my seat and track down assistance. Not happy. The whole dish had to be prepared from scratch and so a longer wait ensued. Then, instead of comping the drinks, the waiter brought out chocolate flan on the house. My wife cannot eat chocolate! And so it went. Nice try, but we will wait a while before we return for a dinner.

Everyone i know loves this place, but every time I go it's just OK. Not bad, just not something I would ever pick on my own. Everyone was nice, the place is clean and service was decent. Not sure what it is that makes it just so middle of the road for me.

The cocktails were good the food was very good service was good too it just wasn't anything special. I did find unfortunately three empty packs of Domino sugar in our dessert. They did make us another one and it was very good so I'll give them that. I just never had that happen to me before I could see one getting in there by mistake but three.

it was loud. The service wasn't friendly , no smiles at all from hostess, waiter, or water boy. The food was okay, maybe above average, but the rice and beans were extremely bland. I liked the chips and salsa. For me, it wasn't worth the 40-minute ride from Rocky Point. If you're local, it's worth trying and making your own decision. It's hard finding a very good Mexican restaurant on the East Coast. Try Besito in Huntington for a fantastic experience.. worth the drive. happy eating !!

They say they don't take reservations, but when we asked to change our table to one of the available ones, we were told they were "reserved". We sat in the worst possible location - first table when you walk in. High traffic area, waitstaff constantly kicking the chair leg when they went by carrying heavy trays over our heads, hostesses standing inches from our table hanging out and chatting. Not a very comfortable place to eat and not very accommodating. Guess they saw us coming and decided we didn't deserve to eat in peace. First time there; won't be back.

I hear a lot of people talk about how much they love this place. I love the outdoor seating and the service is great. I was there 2 times so far and I found the food to be average at best. My last visit there I had the Paella. The rice was a bit watery and I couldn't give the dish more than a 5 out of 10.

Maria's gets points for ambiance and service. Waiters are attentive, and even the bigger ups come to check in on you to make sure you're good. The cuisine was where I was expecting more. The food was good. It just wasn't authentic. The limonada was a powder lemonade mix instead of the rich limeade made from fresh limes like in Mexico. The guacamole was generic and reminded me of grocery bought guac. The main course was an average steak with an average Chipotle sauce... the Chipotle sauce was probably one of the most authentic things we had. Overwhelmingly, the food was fair, they just lost me with the limonada and the guacamole... those are just two staples you must get right in a Mexican restaurant.

I liked it but am unsure about returning. I am annoyed at some things or treatment that was received. I came to meet a friend for dinner for her Birthday. As soon as I walked in the hostess was not at the front, she was somewhere near the bar. The phone then rings and she comes running from the bar area and answers the phone and puts her back to me. I, as the customer personally there and having already waited because the hostess was MIA when I arrived, was now put 2nd to a phoned in order. Again, she had her back to me, and took the whole order instead of putting the caller on hold and serving me and the 2 other separate parties that were now standing close behind me due to the entrance/exit area being tight. My friend was sitting there alone this entire time I was waiting... Moving on; the dining area is small but very nicely decorated inside and out, the mural outside can't be missed! My dinner was delicious, I ordered a special (photos enclosed) as was the Margheritas we ordered. My friend did say her dinner was saltier than it should have been. The wait staff was very friendly when necessary however at the end of the evening (after spending over $100 on the two of us), I then felt the pressure, from the staff, to leave. I understand that they are tired and want to go home but I didn't buy a $30 meal and sit there all night, taking up space. It was my first time there and as a paying customer of greater than $100, should not have felt immediately unwelcome as soon as I put my fork down. I hope they speak with their staff about the importance of customer appreciation.

Music very loud and heat at least 80 degress with one other couple in there. Had to tell them 2x to lower the music and both times they eventually turned it up again. After the lady from the other couple told them 2x, they eventually lowered it for good. Got the cuban quesadilla. Very tasty but hardly give u any sour cream amd quac. Asked for extra and they bring out a little cup for $5! Combo dish- the cheese quesadilla was slop. Beef burrito- did not like the taste of the beef but the chicken taco was delish. Rice and beans were cold and plantains- some were good and some were dry. My friend just got a burrito. He liked it. $95 for all that was absolutely insane! Wont be going back…

Ive been here several times. This time was disappointing. The shrimp app was delish. Empandas not good. Seems as though they were bought prepared. Not authentic. Hated the crust. The potato balls was Eh...Big bill. Big disappointment.

The parking lot was so small I almost expected the restaurant door to be waist-high like the Little Door from Alice in Wonderland. Fortunately, the door was normal-sized but when we walked in it was unclear exactly what we were supposed to do except stand around awkwardly and wait for someone to acknowledge us. It honestly didn't look like anyone expected someone to actually walk into this restaurant and the whole "vibe" felt awkward and off the whole time we were there. One of the reasons I don't typically go to new restaurants is the feeling that there's some sort of convention one must follow that everyone somehow knows except myself. In any case, we were eventually sat in normal-sized chairs in front of a normal-sized table and greeted by a normal-sized waiter. As you can tell, that parking lot size really still bothers me even to this day. It kind of pisses me off if I'm being completely honest. I'm going to punch a normal-sized wall to release the tension. The Quesadillas were recommended to us and we do admit that they were, by far, the best quesadillas we've eaten anywhere. It makes the QDOBA quesadillas taste like dog food, not that I've ever tried dog food (you never know though, we could be missing out). However, the quesadillas were the highlight of the experience. Everything else was extraordinarily average. The portions were as small as the parking lot but not as big as the cheque; it was a discrepancy I wasn't expecting. Okay, I'm lying, I totally expected it. Too much white everywhere, it's a clear sign. There isn't an actual selection of drinks outside of alcohol so I decided to try a Tequila Old Fashion because I remember that's what some Asian guy from a movie I watched always drank but till this day I don't understand the appeal of alcohol no matter what type it is. Maybe it's a social status thing, "lets see how much cough syrup you can handle before your liver gives out!" I prefer the finer vices, like a bit of rumpy-pumpy in the hayloft. Anyway, I would never come back here, even for takeout. The quesadillas were the best part and I could live without them if it means I don't have to deal with that abysmal parking lot ever again.

I’ve been coming here for a while now. I’d occasionally sit at a table but usually just grab food at the bar. The food has always been fantastic. The bar service is not the best, but I enjoyed the food and atmosphere. However today was the worst experience I’ve ever had. Two of us sat down at the bar and it took a few minutes for the bartender to come over which is not a big deal considering she also covers drinks for the restaurant however the bar was empty and not even a hello. Once she came over she took my drink and food order, completely ignoring the person I’m with and walked away. When she came back with my drink we tried to order for them and she again walked away. After 15 minutes of being ignored and the bar filling up and others being acknowledged I was done. I asked for the check for my drink that I didn’t even touch. The staff continued to ask why and what about the food I ordered?? Okay but what about the person I was with? What about their drink and food order? 0 acknowledgement to them whatsoever the entire time. I’m so upset and disappointed by this. I know going to this bar the service is slow but I never let it deter me. This time was unreal and I have no desire to go back after that

My boyfriend and I went for restaurant week today. The place is super cute, but small. The food was great, and I would've come back again if it wasn't for the service. It took forever for the food to come out and then the waitress didn't even come to ask us how we liked everything. The place can be cute, the food can be good, but without good service it isn't worth going to.

I used to like Maria’s a long time when there wasn’t much Mexican places to go. But only have they been slacking on their food, their mannerisms fell apart. Manager has no time to talk to her guests when there is an issue. The space is horrible. So with that said I will never go there again. There are so many options now and I’m so happy to share it here with everyone. You want a good service, food, drinks, atmosphere go to NOSH! They have it all! Another newer place I also love is Ruta Oaxaca. Great food and awesome owner!

Definitely not Authentic Mexican food. The salsa tastes like pure jared acid you buy in a supermarket given with stale cold tortilla chips. Basically this place is "Taco Bell" with a pretty name and higher pricing. Not to mention the loud music that gives you a migraine while eating there.

Mid American Spanish food not authentic in my opinion.... over priced.....when you get nachos you expect more then literally 6 tortilla chips with meat and cheese on them. i was baffled would not go back the ambiance was nice staff were okay. Kinda tight a four person table has like no room. If you like okay food and paying more then it's worth this is the place for you. Food presentation was on point about the only good thing about this place.

We have always loved Maria’s mainly for their food. On Thursday’s they advertise on their website live music and special pricing on their margaritas. We came in about 815pm and sat at a table outside. There was a large party right next to us which turned out to be the owner with other people. About 5 different servers passed by us, it wasn’t until about 15 minutes in someone came to take our drink order. I asked about which margaritas are on special ($8) and he said regular margaritas which included some of their flavored. I asked if I could just get a spicy margarita and if that would be part of the special and he said yes they have their own infused spicy tequila and confirmed it was part of the special going on… we order them and another 15 minutes pass, other peoples drinks are coming out to the owner’s table of course.. we finally decide to get up and go sit at the bar thinking we would get served faster. We sit at the bar and are brought our drinks that we ordered at the table, what is the drink? A watermelon spicy margarita which was not ordered. The server from the table comes to speak to the bartender after I said this is not what I ordered and I can tell he is saying that’s what they ordered, never was watermelon said or stated. I didn’t realize it was so complicated to order a spicy margarita. So my husband is nice enough to drink the wrong drinks and not fuss and I order, at the bar or I thought a spicy margarita. 10 minutes passes no drink came. She finally looks at us and asks if we want to order food and I said can I order a drink. She does end up making a spicy margarita for me, mind you we have been here an hour already and I am just now getting the correct drink. We order some food, which is always good. Order one more drink a SPICY MARGARITA, and to what I think she puts watermelon in it again knowing that’s not what I wanted. It was just overall such a bad experience and to say the least we will not be going back. Also mind you none of the drinks when we got the bill were the special of $8 instead they were EACH $14.95. Don’t advertise a special if it’s not true. So unprofessional, highly do not recommend.

Waited 40 minutes passed a reservation, the host said we had to wait for the table to leave after paying their bill. When we asked if they could tell them they had another party waiting they told us no. We left, no food, no accommodation, rude staff. Very disappointed.

Absolutely abysmal customer service, when a pick up order is placed a week in advance and the order is not ready at it's given time and your hostesses are both unable to give you an ETA and catch an attitude when you ask is a wild approach. How about "I AM SORRY SIR, LET ME GO BACK AND CHECK HOW MUCH LONGER" not "I don't know, well we are really busy" if the order wasnt prepaid, I would of walked out. Hey management maybe on a holiday like NYE when you know your restaurant will be packed to the gills don't take 6 plus pick up/catering orders all for the same time and have your incompetent staff get butt hurt when someone simply asks for an ETA. Crazy concepts here I know!

Paid $35 dollars for a to go steak and onions to get not eve 2 ounces of meat. Make sure you open your containers before leaving to make sure you get what you pay for!! Very disappointed!
