My wife and I came here for dinner before seeing Junior Brown next door at the Gruene Dance Hall. We have both been in the service and hospitality industry for decades. This was one of our favorite dining experiences ever. The building is beautiful and very cozy for such a big space. The place was hopping but the staff was on top of everything. We got there around 7pm on a Friday and we only waited 20 minutes for our table. We were seated on the back patio overlooking a stunning Texas sunset over the Guadalupe River. Our server Renee took our drink and salad orders immediately. We ordered our entrees when she dropped the drinks and salads and the food arrived before we finished! Both our dinners were absolutely perfect but my chicken fried steak plate was the hit of the evening. I don't say this lightly, but this was the best chicken fried steak I've ever had. Tender, juicy, no gristle at all, and above all the breading was golden brown and even the last bite covered in gravy was still crunchy! I had to fight my wife off several times from invading my plate! Renee provided exceptional service, the food was spot on and the atmosphere was top notch. We can't wait to come back, this is our #1 spot in Gruene!

We came in late on a Tuesday night just before closing, wait staff was attentive and we didn’t feel rushed. Sunset on the river was beautiful, paired with a peach mojito at the end of a hot day. The peach mojito was the best I’ve ever had blended well together not the orange juice toothpaste taste you can get with some. This mojito was perfect and refreshing, just the right amount of sweet. The chicken piccata was amazing, melt in your mouth mashed potatoes, and the jalapeño shrimp bruschetta was the perfect spicy sweet tang. Best dinner we have had in Gruene.

Just left The Grill. Lauren was out waitress. She was phenomenal. Great personality. Kept our tea and water filled. The Chicken fried steak was amazing. Fantastic taste. We also had Chicken piccata..very good. Along with their Trifecta appetizer. Great job Lauren, 500 stars for you.

Last minute date night turned amazing! Food was delicious and it wasn’t even expensive. Definitely will be back. Had the balsamic steak, chicken fried chicken with queso, calamari and spinach/artichoke dip and the crème Brulé was Devine!!!

Me and the girls came out for the weekend stoped here for dinner and the view around 8pm is so beautiful. The food was amazing i had the New York strip and the potatoes were very crispy and flavorful! Also the green beans!

New York strip and mash was delicious. The broccoli was good but on the saltier side. The waitresses were very polite. The building is great for its age and I like you can see the bones that hold it up but needs to be cleaned up and brightened

This restaurant was simply phenomenal. After visiting the Snake Farm, my husband, mother-in-law, niece, and I wanted to grab a bite to eat. I’m gluten-free, so I looked around for some restaurants in the area that had options for me. The menu on the website had some dishes that we designated gluten-free, so we decided to head there. When we got to the restaurant, there was a short wait. Luckily, though, shortly after we sat down for the twenty-five minute wait, I received a text saying our table was ready. We were seated right next to the large window overlooking the river, and it was a stunning view. Our waitress came to take our order and clarified which dishes were gluten-free for me. I ended up getting the Smoked Pork Tenderloin dish with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans, and it was divine! My husband got the same dish, but switched out the garlic mashed potatoes with the Roasted Red Potatoes due to his dairy allergy, and he thought it was fantastic as well! The price for the four of us with tip was around $100, so it was very reasonable for the amount and quality of the food. The experience was wonderful, from the ambience and the service all the way to the food. I would heavily recommend this spot to anyone wanting a good meal, even if they have dietary restrictions.

We enjoyed our dinner here. We got two apps, which was waaay too much food but they were both really good. The jalapeno crawfish chowder was so freaking good. Hubby got the redfish and liked it. The service was great too. They were busy but the waitress was very attentive and no long waits.

Got here right at 12 and no wait for our lunch. This was surprising for a Saturday but by 1 the rush started to come. We love this restaurant and sitting out on the patio looking at the river. Food was delicious and the service was quick.

Christmas Eve lunch and a great choice overall. The restaurant had a warm, festive holiday atmosphere, and our server, Avery, was wonderful—friendly, attentive, and on top of everything throughout our visit. We started with the calamari, which was excellent. The portion was solid, and the dipping sauce was so good we ended up asking for extra because it went fast. I ordered the lunch schnitzel, and it was outstanding. It covered the entire plate and was cooked perfectly—crispy on the outside and tender inside. My wife chose the chicken fried steak. While the steak itself was good, she wasn’t a fan of the gravy, which seemed a bit off or possibly too spicy for her taste. We took a slice of carrot cake to go, but unfortunately it didn’t impress and was the only real miss of the meal. Overall, we really enjoyed our experience, especially the Christmas ambiance. If we’re in the area again, this is a place we’d gladly return to.

My wife and I had a pleasant dining experience at this restaurant on Saturday, September 20th, around 1 p.m. Despite being the third weekend of the month and the Gruene Market days, we managed to secure an inside table right away. We decided to share the jalapeño pork chop, which was perfectly portioned for two. However, I had a disappointing experience with my ranch water. The first one was terrible, and when they replaced it, the second one was equally disappointing. I’m not sure what went wrong, but it was simply not good. On the positive side, my wife’s frozen margarita was exceptionally delicious. For the two of us, our bill came to $60. Would I return? I’ll give the restaurant another chance. The interior is cool and inviting, and our waiter was attentive and always nearby. He checked us out at the table promptly and efficiently.

A forty minute wait to get in on a Saturday night, but they text you when your table is ready so you can walk around and explore the area. We had crayfish chowder that was delicious with a spicy kick, delicious chicken picatta. Yummy shrimp and grits, and the chicken fried chicken that was more breading then chicken and very dry. Our waitress Carissa P was fabulous. Inside and outside seating. A little crowded in the dining areas.

And let’s not forget the location—it's just beautiful and a great spot to hang out, whether you're starting your day or just grabbing a killer meal. All in all, this place delivers in every category. Do yourself a favor and check it out—you’ll be planning your next visit before you even leave.

I have been to this restaurant many times over the years. Tonight it looked and felt very worn and tired. The lighting is dingy, the table placement was weird and overall atmosphere felt like the restaurant had seen better days. This used to be the place to go for better food. This wasn’t the best place we visited during our trip, but it was one of the few restaurants accepting reservations, which we appreciated. The ambiance is beautiful, and the service was good, but the food itself was fairly mediocre. The Spinach Artichoke Dip wasn’t worth the price in our opinion. It came with a basket of crushed tortilla chips and a relatively small portion of dip, and it was a bit too salty. I can only fully speak on the dish I ordered — the Fish & Chips. The fish itself was good, but the batter didn’t adhere well and separated from the fish. The fries were decent, but nothing particularly memorable. My husband ordered the Gorgonzola Burger and wasn’t very impressed with it either. Overall, while the atmosphere and service were enjoyable, the food didn’t quite live up to expectations.
