The employee was super nice and gentle explaining us the different types of milk they had, she also was too kind answering our questions! I liked the place, was actually cozy, calm and very pleasant. Definitely a place to came back and recommend! (This comment was not because of the free cookie, the employee really deserved 🥰)
Just stopped while waiting for Jitney to East End and pleasantly surprised. Great cup of Cappuccino along with a walnut crescent. Everything looked good in case and aroma was amazing.
I really enjoyed this visit! I usually don’t drink coffee/tea out but this place made me fantasize about doing it more often! The owner was working on a Sunday morning, just me and one other person after 9a. He helped me figure out what to drink with my goal of being as caffeinated as possible, suggesting a cold, black tea blend, which was delicious and effective! He gave me a gingerbread-type of cookie and a sort of powdered, white crispy cookie, both of which were PERFECTION and I’m not a sweets person! If I were to pick up a habit, this would be the place to do it 🥐
This place is absolutely charming! From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with the warm, delicious aroma of freshly baked pastries. Every treat here is made in-house using recipes passed down from the owner’s mother in Serbia, adding a unique and authentic touch. The attention to detail and quality is evident in every bite. It’s a cozy spot that’s perfect for indulging in something sweet while soaking in the welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Wonderful coffee pastry and spinach pie spot. Coffee is a light roast with milk alternatives including soy. The turmeric latte is the BEST in town and a must have herbal jolt. Don’t miss the Nutella roll and very nice not overly sweet blueberry cake. Service with a smile and great barista! Super spot. Warm indoors with great community bench seating.
Place is cute, service is good. Chocolate croissant was different than what I’m used to. I wouldn’t order the hot chocolate again. Way too sweet and very strange.
Great coffe 👌 very nice atmosphere☺️
Came here around 1pm on a weekday and there were only a few people here, so I was able to find a spot to work out of right away. They have pastries and seasonal yummy drinks! I also absolutely love the decor and vibe of this coffee shop. Highly recommend
Picky or Peaky Barista? This place is beautiful inside! I love all the signs asking people to not use laptops on Saturdays and Sundays and instead talk to each other. I came at noon on a Saturday and they were very busy. Delicious coffee!
This cafe is great! Their speciality drinks are delicious, I got a lavender matcha and it was amazing!
The lattes are delicious! We also had a cinnamon roll — so flavorful, fresh and warm (we got it heated up). The staff are super friendly and we had a wonderful time. Will be back.
Great atmosphere. Coffee and croisants were awesome, if you are in this are you need to visit.
I’ve been on a hunt for a new coffee shop to get my work done in between meetings, and I’m ecstatic that I stumbled on this place! Peaky Barista exudes a timeless charm. As you push open the large wooden doors, you're greeted with the comforting, heavenly scent of freshly brewed coffee mingling subtly with the distant, nostalgic smell of brick and timber. Inside, the interior is an eclectic mix of industrial chic and rustic charm. As you’re walking in, the soft chatter, occasional clinking of cups, and soulful notes from a vintage record player create a soothing symphony, transforming this place into a sanctuary for the weary urban dweller. It's the kind of place where the staff greets you by name, always making me feel like I’m a guest in a friend's cozy home. The atmosphere is great but I keep coming back for their delicious coffee, its liquid gold. Their oat milk cap, is a cloud of smooth, creamy oat milk, expertly frothed to airy perfection. It caps the drink with a soft, velvety layer, adding a delightful textural contrast. Every element comes together seamlessly to create a symphony of flavors and textures. Its liquid gold. Their freshly brewed coffee is so delicious as well, every time I had a cup it was always so deep and rich in flavor, I literally savor every sip. I noticed they really pride themselves on sourcing the highest quality, ethically traded coffee from various corners of the world, and it is evident in the depth of their flavors, whether you choose a robust Ethiopian blend or opt for a mellow Colombian roast. This stuff is truly liquid gold I highly recommend! Ps: Their pastries are so delicious!!
This is it. The platonic ideal of a neighborhood coffee shop. Tucked away on a charming side street of the Upper East Side, Picky delivers on its name with flawless execution. In a city full of options, this is a gem where the coffee is as exceptional as the pastries. The croissants here are truly a marvel. Perfectly golden and crispy on the outside, they shatter with a satisfying crackle to reveal a soft, airy, and buttery interior. It's a flaky, layered work of art that feels authentically Parisian. Beyond the classic, their chocolate croissant is decadent and rich without being overwhelmingly sweet. As for the coffee, treats it with the same reverence as their baked goods. The espresso is robust and expertly pulled, delivering a perfectly balanced cappuccino. If you prefer a simpler brew, their drip coffee is flavorful and never bitter. The baristas are not only friendly but also skilled in their craft, happy to provide recommendations.
Lovely coffee shop with a lot of locals--visiting the city and wanted something that wasn't so touristy. Staff was very pleasant and enjoyed the seating. I have a huge bias and my best friend is a professional baker, Nutella roll was creative and tasty and I'm glad I tried it, but prefer her style of roll (only reason I didn't give 5 stars).
Just popped into this sweet little cafe for the first time to get out of the rain and I’m so glad I did! I’m sitting and enjoying a delicious iced oat latte and a yummy chocolate chip cookie. Also, big shout to the barista- she so friendly and efficient and running things so smoothly here! I’ll definitely be back.
New coffee spot on the block! Happen to pass by decided to stop in. Drinks are delicious, staffs are friendly, atmosphere is good, with plenty of seating and free WiFi! There’s plenty of natural light and nice decor. I had the chai latte with oak milk, few of the pastries happened to run out when I got there but was restocked shortly after. People who lives in the area seemed excited to have this coffee shop here, kept hearing “welcome to the neighborhood!” Will be happy to return and try other drinks. Note: outside food and drinks are not allowed.
Iced matcha had clumps at the bottom and wasn't stirred very well. Interior decor is intriguing but thematically inconsistent -- the peaky blinders and picky barista themes seemingly don't have anything to do with each other other than use the same pb initials. Drip coffee decent. Beans used are Stumptown coffee beans
I love your coffee shop and the comfort that is present in it ❤️ but I want to say, as a person who understands coffee, that it is very important to have the same standards. I really like coffee, which is prepared by one girl. she has a perfect cappuccino (temperature and foam) and I expect that I will come next time and get the same. but unfortunately, another girl served me a very hot and bitter cappuccino with the wrong whipped foam. thank you for your attention ✨
Came here for our morning coffee and some pastries. Got the butter croissant and banana bread. Banana bread was very soft and fluffy. Flavor is moderate and not too sweet or overpowering. Butter croissant was fluffy but outside wasn’t as crispy. Chai latte was alright. It gets really busy on weekends but thankfully there are seats outside too. Lots of dogs inside and outside so it’s pretty pet friendly! Plenty of different seating like couches, tables and high top tables.
I recently visited Picky Barista and ordered a matcha latte. The drink was tasty, certainly not premium, but satisfying. The barista was efficient and professional,if a bit serious, which I appreciated. The Cafe was about 70% full, with many people working, but despite the crowd, the atmosphere felt relaxed and wasn't overwhelming. I really liked the bohemian touches in the decor - plants, art and a suspended bicycle gave the place a cool, vintage feel. The restroom was also very clean. Overall, it was a good experience for a quick stop, though nothing particularly made me want to rush back.
Super cute small cafe which offers a welcoming environment to sit and get some work done. Barista was incredibly friendly. I ordered a hot matcha, which was a little bitter. I also ordered a pastry, which I found a bit dry. I would still the quality was good and I will definitely be visiting again and trying different drinks!
Pleasant little coffee bar with good snack food, some pastries and a tasty burek (wedge of patty filled with spinach and cheese or just cheese ) Their egg and pesto croissant sandwich is a filling morning treat. Mostly takeout but they have a large couch and some.hightop tables inside, a few cafe tables on the sidewalk if you want to hang out. No laptops allowed on weekends.
If you are looking for an authentic and very cool coffee place, this is not it. The matcha latte was fine, but the croissant was not nice, although the looks. I was expecting some nicer service too.
Excellent, friendly service, but mediocre pastries and bad cold brew hold the place back. Horrible value for the money. (I don't care where I am in the world, if a cold brew costs $7, it has to be epic, or at least not overly bitter, like it was here.) Likely has such a high review score because they give you a free cookie for a 5 star review. I'd rather good cold brew than a free cookie, personally, particular given that based on the baklava and croissant, the cookie couldn't be any better than mid.
Good coffee. Quiet atmosphere. Wifi is great here. Pastries always look super yum. Addendum: I went here on a Sunday to get some work done after doing the same a few times during the week. There were signs for "no computer zone" / "let's talk to each other" and of course I didn't notice until I got my coffee and sat down to work. I went out alone with the intention of doing work on my computer. Let's face it, most people in New York City are not talking to strangers in 2025 in a meaningful way. If your goal is crowd control on weekends, just let it be known that you have a 1-2 hour stay policy during high-volume days. Not everyone is out to be social on the weekends unfortunately. It's off-putting to hide behind a facade of collectivism and community building when that's doesn't feel like the true intention of it. Maybe it's not that deep but TLDR it's not an ideal place for trying to get work done on the weekends. Great spot during the week though.
Update: I returned for coffee and it tastes a little tart and watery. I would say it is below average compared with other spots nearby. Will have to come back and try the pastries. Knocking off one star. Same barista as last time. -- This is the first place I've been to in NYC that has failed at making a flat white. It tastes like milk. Other than that, great atmosphere and service. Will come back to try other coffees and pastries.
I’ve tried this place three times. I really wanted to like it but all their baked items taste bad. The dough they use is not good. Each item I’ve tried - chocolate roll, cinnamon roll, Balkan roll with jam - was completely flavorless. The coffee wasn’t the best either. I do like the layout of the place - spacious and comfy - so I may be back for that, and coffee only.
This is by far one of the worst coffee/tea shops I have visited. We ordered Jasmine and Chamomile tea respectively and the tea tasted just like hot water. The honey cookie we ordered tasted like sweet raw dough and stale. The coffee was average and nothing great either. The barista looked half interested, with a stern face and was not welcoming at all. I would avoid this place at all costs unless something dramatically changes. Unfortunately, this is my first review where I have left a 1 star for any establishment.
Unfortunate experience, Came in to get a large hot chocolate and large chai latte with almond milk but was about to get charged for almond and oat milk(they charge $.75 per different milk). When we received the drinks we noticed that the hot chocolate wasn’t a large and it was a medium and the chai come out as a large and you can notice the size difference in both. Don’t get me wrong the drinks did taste really good but the Cashier/barista did give Off and unpleasant energy/mood and as a first time customer little things are noticed.
Dishonest business with scam tricks. On the Menu says a large coffee under $4, got charged with tax $5+. I asked the barista, and she told me that" oh we just upgrade the price", with no intention to apologize or trying to fix the menu on their blackboard.
the baristas, food, and drink here were great. However, unfortunately we will not be patronizing this business again due to a very rude manager who felt the need to ruin our experience. I will admit, the cafe does have signs stating that there is no laptop use on Saturday or Sundays. However, when we came to the cafe on Sunday looking to get some work done (we were not aware of this policy prior to coming), the cafe was almost completely empty. This manager felt the need to very rudely and condescendingly point out the signs and force us to put our laptops away. I would understand if there was concern over us taking up tables while the cafe was busy, but this felt extremely rude and inhospitable.
