Amazingly cute place! Definitely recommend coming here. The drinks were good. We got an americano, Carmel latte, and matcha latte. The food also looked incredible (but we didn’t get any) and there’s a whole upstairs section where you can chill and eat or buy plants! We even met the owners who were soooo nice!! 10/10! Bonus points for location cuz we walked down to the water where you can see NYC!
Their kiwi sauce and tiramisu latte is to die for. I always order their original with avocados and that's the best ever brioche pocket sandwich once can ever have. I am a repeat customer for years now. I wish they had bigger sitting though as it gets really crowded on weekends. Their sandwiches take a bit of time as they need to be grilled but it's totally worth the wait. Don't want to wait then order online ahead of time. But mine have not been prepared twice as they forgot about it. They were very Apologetic about it though. Grubhub showed ready but they had mixed the order somehow amidst long lost of orders
My wife and I absolutely love Semicolon! It’s one of our go-to places in the neighborhood for a relaxed and delicious breakfast run. My personal favorites are the mushroom sandwich and the tiramisu latte but I’ve tried a few things on the menu and you really can’t go wrong here. It’s a gem of a place - definitely go visit!
This is a lovely neighborhood cafe with what I think is a somewhat awkward name for a coffee shop, but the name notwithstanding, their lattes are worth the money. I also look forward to trying their sandwiches next, which I am hearing from friends are worth the wait. The place is quite popular with the locals and even with today’s capacity restrictions there is a steady stream of patrons. Their upper floor seating area is currently closed but there are a few tables outside and the place is only one block away from the waterfront.
Our favorite weekend breakfast sandwiches!! Semicolon is a super cute coffee shop based in downtown jersey city close to the riverfront. They can be pretty busy on the weekends after 9am so be prepared to wait a little but I can promise it’s totally worth the wait! Our die hard favorite sandwich is the Ham and Cheese. It’s so simple but full of flavor! Semicolon is officially part of our regular breakfast spots!
This place is right next to my college campus and I got addicted with this place vibes 🤗. This place has two floors. 1st floor to order your food and hangout there and 2nd floor is for people who like to do some serious work. Haha JK. Can I take my date her? YES THIS THE BEST PLACE to go for a date and take chill walk by waterfront.
Need a space away from the people on their laptops? Great decor for if you do want to read a book or work? Semicolon cafe is the place to visit for a short or a long time! The sandwich (Bulgogi) is made to order so it takes some time and it was a decent price for the quantity ($11 and filling). A seasonal latte around $5-$6 and you have a hearty meal for a good price. They have plenty of options as well! Seating is spacious and offers a lot of variety. Semicolon is a korean cafe focused on the aesthetics and that is tree. Tons of greenery and you can buy some plants. Upstairs has this ghibli esque tight space that is just really cute and it's filled with a TON of tiny knick knacks. Only issue I have read about is that it gets packed sometimes. A great place to try and stop by and with how the food, price, and decor. it is pretty good. if it's a slow day then cleaning might take a bit. Service is very standard cafe.
The sandwiches at Semicolon are addictive. I’ve tried several and each one seems to have a perfect combination of flavors that is very satisfying. You’ll find yourself craving and trying to copy them. If you’re local, no need to bother. The prices are reasonable, especially for the area. Just stop in and buy one!
Ordered the shroom sandwich and the lox sandwich. Both are delicious! The bread was very soft and aromatic, and the sauce gives an additional smoothness and richness to the flavor. The size is good for me but my boyfriend finds it rather small and needs some snack to accompany it. But we fully agree that the sandwiches are yummy. Will be back to try out other sandwiches.
Went to Semicolon because my friend and I were in the area. The environment itself is very simple yet eye catching. What caught our eyes is the big window and outdoor seating. You get to see Manahattan once you step out the store. It's a good place for studying. Coffee and drinks are very delicious so are the sandwich. Food are aesthetically appealing and very instagram popular. Will definitely come back for study date and brunch date!
First time visiting this place on Saturday afternoon 6/3/2023, I wasn’t disappointed. The sandwich is freshly made, however, you will be expected to wait around 40-45 minutes. The place is busy and packed. The environment is nice and calm with lots of different plants decorating on the second floor. My friend and I got the tiramisu latte (taste good). I got the shroom sandwich and she got the bulgogi sandwich (taste great). Will visit and return next time.
Semicolon Cafe might seem to have a small breakfast menu but their sandwiches are some of the best in town. Delicious, light and satisfying. An Egg & Lox sandwich with a Latte perks up my morning. Update - Recently tried their Bulgogi sandwich and it's excellent! Tiramisu latte is like coffee and dessert combined. Worth a try.
Crazy to have an egg with corn, and bacon for a sandwich - but the mix of yellow mustard and mayonnaise (and brown mustard?) was great! The bread was PERFECT. It was very, very good and our party of 4 enjoyed it much on our out-of-town visit. We took a chance and it was GOOD.
I actually never been to the place, but already spent couple hundreds dollars to get their sandwich delivered, so felt obligated to write few things. Their main food menu is really sandwich and it is a typical kind that you can find from Korea. Obviously sandwich (as a menu) is not at all Korean cuisine, but somehow this type of sandwich is something you can find as street food or franchise food in Korea. My fav is Bulgogi (marinated beef, this is Korean cuisine) and lox sandwich. It’s not like mind-blowing above-expectation kinda of food, but very well executed the basics and it’s always pleasant to munch them. Egg is very fluffy and veggie always looks fresh, nothing to complain. 한국에서 파는 토스트 스타일로 파는데 정말 맛있어요 생각날때마다 배달시켜 먹고 있습니다
I probably found my favorite cafe in Jersey City. I love the drinks and the food! Great atmosphere and decent amount of tables / seats. There are some “no laptop” tables and I actually like that. More seats for people who actually just want to enjoy food and have a cup of coffee. There’s also a small plant shop inside. The staff were nice too! I can’t wait to come back soon and try their sandwiches (we only had coffee and croissant in our first visit).
My favorite place to have discovered this past summer! It was a hot June summer day after exploring the lower part of Manhattan for their Tribeca Film Festival 2021 promotional popups. This place was a 10 minute walk from the Ferry that traveled from the lower part of Manhattan to Jersey City. We were so relieved to be away from the heat and into the air conditioned area. I ordered the tiramisu latte (a latte containing an ice cream scoop, a cigar wafer and chocolate shavings) and the S.O.S sandwich (a toasted brioche filled with a scrambled egg with corn, green leaf lettuce, shredded red cabbage, a slice of tomato, and cheddar cheese with kiwi sauce and mayonnaise). The sandwich was the most beautiful sandwich I have ever seen, with its layers of vibrant colors. It's one of those rare moments where the actual food matched the picture as advertised. I loved the crunch of the lettuce, the tanginess of the picked red cabbage and tomato, the sweetness of the kiwi sauce, and the warm fluffiness of the egg all enveloped with a buttery crunchy brioche toast. I was a bit skeptical at first with regards of the kiwi sauce (as I am not fan of kiwi), but this was the one sauce I wish they sold in jars. Though I normally drink unsweetened lattes, I thoroughly enjoyed this beverage. I ordered mine with oat milk (which is my usual milk of choice when it comes to lattes because it brings in a nutty taste). It was subtly sweet, creamy, nutty, and crunchy (from the wafer and chocolate). The interior as well was very modern-woody as I would say. It is very similar to some of the cafes I have visited in the Northern Blvd area of Flushing. Staff was friendly and they do accept card.
Perfect location, atmosphere. We had to wait 25 min for our sandwich but it totally worth it, meanwhile we wait we walked around and you can find a nice view of manhattan. We came back to get our order we were very pleased with it, the bread was very soft, we loved both sandwiches (avocado and shroom) I give them 10/10.
This place is amazing! The food is fresh and delicious. Ive tried the avocado and the chicken sandwich and was so impressed. The cookies and cream bubble tea is rich and delicious! This place is definitely a staple when I'm in the area. They have the cutest plant store upstairs but unfortunately it was closed when we went. It's open Wednesday through Sunday I believe.
A vibrant yet chill corner coffee shop with an upstairs plant nursery, Semicolon is the kind of neighborhood third place that other neighborhoods aspire to have. As for the coffee, I had the Americano which was not too bitter. As for the food, obviously get the sandwiches as they are hearty and not too salty and not too sweet. But also get the pastries as they are very filling and also have multiple flavors rather than just all sugar. My feta and spinach pastry would have been a filling breakfast if I wasn't a fat kid who could put down two breakfasts.
I seriously love this place😭 such a cute breakfast boutique with great sandwiches and creative drinks! The toasts are nicely baked with a hint of sweetness and fluffy texture. The egg is fluffy too, especially flavorful with their sauce. My friend and I order bulgogi sandwiches, tiramisu latte and matcha bomb and enjoyed everything. Great place for photos too:)
🌇 This coffee shop is located near the waterfront. There are 2 floors and several tables. On weekends there are often queues and you can wait about 15 minutes for your coffee. But during normal times the service is fast. ☕️ Menu includes regular coffee and coffee with different flavors, such as pumpkin latte or ginger cappuccino. Also here you can buy a piece of cake, cookies, croissant, sandwiches and smoothies. There is really nice coffee here. 💸 Prices are normal. Cappuccino costs $4.75, croissant with chocolate $2.50.
Semicolon Cafe is one of my favorite go tos in Jersey City! I love the flavors in their sandwiches and their lattes are wonderful. The staff are also super nice and make you feel welcomed. Their shaved ice is tasty, sweet, and the perfect treat after a long day. This place is a 10/10, would recommend.
First time at Semicolon and I can’t stress enough how positively surprised I am! I didn’t read anything reviews prior to visiting, so I ordered an avocado sandwich and my mind was blown. So good, the sauce is phenomenal and I am in love with the decor. Will absolutely become a regular ❤️
Had breakfast at Semicolon Café in Jersey City and really enjoyed it! The chicken sandwich and shroom sandwich were both delicious and freshly made, and the tiramisu latte was amazing — smooth, rich, and not too sweet. It took a little while for the food to come out, but it was totally worth the wait. Cozy vibe and friendly service — definitely a great spot for breakfast or coffee in Jersey City!
Good food - Crisp loaded sandwich, quick service and simple ambience. Easy on the pocket and generous portions. Calm, neatly tucked corner cafe, one street away parallel to the Exchange place walk. I had a peaceful time sipping, munching and sketching ✨over Lox sandwich and Tiramisu Latte.
Egg sandwiches are so good! It’s my sister’s go to place for coffee and sandwiches! Located right under her apartment which is super convenient. I’ve tried all of their sandwiches, and none of them disappointed me yet! Lady match is must to order. It comes with edible strawberry straw, and it’s super cute! The place isn’t that big, but people usually to go their food and drinks, so dine in was never a problem for me. Highly recommend!
Such a vibrant vibe! We ordered the shroom sandwich and the chicken sandwich and both were really good. Note that they both had a slightly sweet sauce inside. The strawberry banana smoothie was fresh, but you may want to ask to adjust the sugar. The cappuccino was really good too - I say that after having tried a few places in Newport. Would definitely recommend coming here on a morning when the sun is out ☀️
This is not an ordinary SANDWICH spot! Korean owned. I had the honor of meeting the owners father. The food was next level and I inhaled it in about 2 minutes. I ordered belt sandwich and it was 10/10. My friend ordered bulgogi(beef) sandwich and it was also 10/10. Seemed like they also sell cute little plants on the side and thought that was neat. The whole place is filled with fresh cute little plants and made me feel a bit delighted looking at them. Most important question about any food places, will I come back? Absolutely 💯
This place is absolutely beautifull! The decoration is perfect. The service was great. I loved that the food is prepared at the moment and they let you know that it will take some minutes to be served. Coffee was good. I ordered the Original Sandwich and boy, let me tell you: DELICIOUS!! You have to try the Kiwi Sauce. Good portion and fresh.
This cafe is located a few steps away from the waterfront. The food is really good and the place is really pretty. It has both indoor and outdoor seating. Currently their upstairs seating is closed. They offer both dine in and take out. I recommend their avocado sandwich. It is yummy. Prices are competitive to any other cafe in the area.
Very nice coffee place in the neighborhood ( Jersey City) that offers great selection of coffees, deserts (macarons and others), breakfast (brunch) options like avocado toast, bagels, etc. they have a lot of nice seating inside at their two levels restaurants. They also have some seating outside (no heated). It’s typically crowded and it’s not quite so you may not be able to do work here. The people here are very nice and friendly.
The cutest cafe to grab a coffee on the go! I really liked the ambience and the vibe of this place. I got in when it was almost closing time so I could only try their tiramisu latte. It was lovely with the right amount of coffee, sweetness and a hint of tiramisu aftertaste. I’ll be definitely trying their sandwiches and lady matcha the next time I visit here! A must try!
I’ve been wanting to stop by this place for quite some time. And finally was able to do. I was disappointed by the size of the tables and limited laptop zone, because I like to work from different cafes. So I gave it one less star. On the food front, it was so comforting to see that the images on their site match exactly what they serve you in store. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 i ordered the avocado and it was yummy, perfectly flavored. The pumpkin chai, though yummy, it was a bit on the sweet side and i most likely won’t order it again. This place get a lot of traffic and your sandwich is made to order so expect a little wait, but it’s so worth it. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 the staff is also pretty friendly. It’s a must to visit. I’ll be back. PS I love the upstairs seating area with the plants @michellesgreenthumb it’s a nice little break from the main seating area and all the incoming traffic.
Breakfast sandwiches are always such a treat to get, but not all breakfast sandwiches are created equal. Semicolon does not disappoint with their tasty sandwiches that come with an Asian twist. These sandwiches are big and the BLT I got came with fresh veggies and thick and hearty bacon that was sandwiched between two slices of fluffy toast. The overall atmosphere is pretty cute and open. It can get crowded on weekend mornings though, so be prepared to wait to order and then wait some more for the food to be prepared. The upstairs seating area was closed when I came but hopefully they open that back up in time before the cooler weather rolls in. I would definitely come back when I'm in a mood to treat myself out for breakfast.
Semicolon is the cutest green caffeine cafe. No laptops/Wi-Fi permitted tho which makes the seating able to rotate which is nice. My boyfriend and I got Tiramisu lattes. The taste and aesthetic was great but they only come in one size, a sm/medium, which felt limiting for the price. Overall, wonderful with views outside.
Super cute cafe, with loads of plants which I just love ! Theres also nice sun that hits the cafe in the morning, super cozy spot to sit and do some work. I had an oat-milk cappuccino which was not hot enough. I didn't grab anything to eat so can't review the food, but can say everything looked tasty. Staff where also very kind. About $7 for my coffee. WARNING you will leave there stinking of food, that was the only reason I could not give 5 stars. There was a very strong smell of food in there, and it followed me for the rest of the day, had to wash my hair and clothes to get rid of the smell. Which I absolutely dislike. Get rid of the food smell and serve hot hot coffee like the coffee cup sleeve warns about. Happy experiences to all !
Semicolon Cafe is a great place to visit for a quick meal and sweet drink. The sandwich I got was very light and refreshing. I also really enjoyed my drink, which was a specialty strawberry matcha that came with popcorn on top. They also gave me an edible straw, which was strawberry flavored and actually not bad! Overall the vibes of the cafe are also very nice. The upstairs was closed when I visited so there wasn't a ton of space, however, I really like how open it is and how much natural light it gets.
Located 2 blocks away from the Exchange place HBLR station, this local Asian coffee shop close to the riverfront is a vibrant place to spend weekend mornings! The ambiance literally feels like you are sitting in a garden and enjoying your coffee, while they have seating upstairs too but I guess they have kept some indoor plants for sale too! The service could be a bit improved upon, when at the counter the barista was busy having some conversation with a colleague whereas while the order was ready, I didn't hear my name being called to collect the order! Either they can provide customers with buzzers or be loud enough so the entire shop can hear your name! Coming to food and drinks, it was excellent. I went for their signature Tiramisu latte, chose the iced one whereas you also have an option to go for the hot one. The Tiramisu latte felt out of this world, as it had the right amount of oat milk, coffee powder and I guess a bit of vanilla ice cream while topped with a wafer stick which I mistook for cinnamon stick! Their sandwiches are a must try too as they make it fresh with the bread baked in-house, that's what I felt! I went for the mushroom sandwich, the bread was really soft and it was toasted in the right amount. It had an omelette, aragula, tomato along with mozzarella cheese in it and everything was fresh! There was a bit of truffle sauce too which made it tasty! I really enjoyed it. The prices too are a fair reflection of the quality they are providing. Overall a great experience, but hope they improve a bit on their service as they have a big potential to be invincible in the JC downtown area!
Very cute and well designed cafe, with a big communal table downstairs and a bunch of others upstairs (closed for now, wonder when they will reopen??). I had seen their sandwiches around IG post but forgot about it, came in by chance for an iced latte ($4.50), then saw the sandwiches and decided to order a BLT to try ($7). The latte was good but I dont remember much. The Sandwich was so amazing though! The bread was soft and toasted at the same time, the flavors very well balanced (kiwi sauce sounded weird at first), and overall really enjoyed eating it. Very aesthetically pleasing, they also serve a tiramisu latte ($5), which my friend got and tasted and looked great! Will order in the future. On their official website, it seems like they also serve bingsu (korean shaved ice dessert). Cant wait for them to have more indoor seating so we can enjoy this! -----‐-----‐-----‐-----‐ One negative thing is that they are so busy on weekends, it takes a long time to get an order, plus there is not enough seating. When will you open upstairs? ^^ I'd love to enjoy the aesthetics of the cafe in peace and more quiet.
Korean style egg sandwich in box has been popular among the Asian community but can barely be found in NY. We only know a place opening up in Manhattan recently but we haven’t had a chance to try. We were luck to find Semicolon Cafe when we visited our friends around the neighborhood. The decor is cozy, simple and adorable but the table was not a good fit for us. Their service was friendly and welcoming. The options on the menu is limited and brunch toast was not available when we visited but enough for a perfect breakfast or brunch. We had shroom sandwich which was flavored with truffle and bulgogi sandwich. The brioche bread was amazingly great, soft inside but toasted to have a crispy layer. The egg was fried with corn but it was kind of dry for us. The tiramisu latte was decent but too sweet. We also ordered their coffee substituted milk with oat milk and they didn't served soy milk. Overall, we will definitely recommend our friends who live in NJ to give it a try.
The cafe has an open, modern and green vibe which is nice. I tried their egg & ham sandwich which was good but the best part of their sandwich is their bread. Moderately thick and chewy. The prices are also decent. They serve La Colombe coffee which is great. They closed their upstairs which was unfortunate. The tables are quite low so you have space to do work but not the most comfortable. It gets crowded after 10am. Free wifi, street parking.
Really beautiful cafe with friendly staff. The plant store upstairs is awesome! Tried the mushroom and bulgolgi egg sandwiches. Liked the bulgolgi more of the two but wasn’t blown away by either. Also tried the lady matcha, which I think is a seasonal offering - it was a little oversweet for me. Appreciated the edible straw though
I didn’t see many people on the street, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but once I walked in, the café was full of people and felt welcoming. I’m really happy I found this place! It has such a comfortable vibe, perfect for relaxing and enjoying drinks. It’s also in a great location—very close to the ferry and the PATH train, which makes it super convenient.
We got the lox and bulgogi sandwichs which were delicious! I got the strawberry ade which was very good and my partner ordered a coffee which was also amazing. I would absolutely go back for the food and drinks (the price for them was not that bad either). The place itself is a little on the small side. They do have an upstairs which is nice and that's where we sat. We had a view of a lot of different trinkets and legos while we waited for our food. It did take a little long but that was because we ordered 2 sandwich's during a busy time which was worth the wait. We did come here for this cafe and the LSC but parking is almost impossible to find. There is almost 0 street parking and if there is it was already taken. Your best bet is finding a paid parking lot that will last you the whole day for like $20 so you can walk around with your drinks and see the views of Liberty State Park and city line.
My usual go-to sandwich orders are the BELT and Avocado sandwiches. They both taste pretty good. Iced latte is very good. Matcha latte was just average. Interior could use a little upgrade or renovation - it seems like it's been a while. *Take out/delivery orders on grub hub/etc. are only accepted on weekdays. *I recommend avoiding the morning rush for food orders, regardless if it's a weekday or weekend - there's always a 20-30 minute wait. Drink orders are usually quick. *Pet friendly cafe
I walk by this Cafe when I go to Office and had always wanted to try the Coffee here since the place looks so cute. Finally got a chance to visit and it was pretty good. I just had a Cappuccino but it wasn't anything special. Maybe I should have tried their specialty Coffees or one of the sandwiches. They all looked so yummy but I was in a rush. Still, the atmosphere very good and they seemed to have some good options for both Coffee and Food.
Hey, there's this awesome coffee shop in our neighborhood that I think you'll really like! It's got some fantastic options to choose from. And you know what's cool? If you're Indian and you've been to Coffee Cafe Day in India, this place will totally remind you of it, especially the taste of their coffee drinks. But here's what makes it even better - you can actually work there while being surrounded by all sorts of plants and succulents. They also have sandwiches on their menu, although I haven't personally tried them yet. But let me tell you, they always look so appetizing when other people order them.
Nice cafe vibe and very interesting food. I loved their Tiramisu latte. Highly recommended. Their sandwiches are also amazing! We tried the mushroom and avocado one and they taste great and are super filling. It was difficult to finish one. The cafe itself has a relaxed atmosphere. They have a plant shop on the second level and you can see the green touch throughout the cafe.
I would have given this place a 5 star to be honest. They’ve the coziest little corner and really warm interiors that make you feel great the moment you enter. Their Danish pastry are amazing, would recommend for sure. The only reason I would drop down my rating is because I had a chicken sandwich which apparently was recommended by the folks there. It turned out to be one of my nightmares. The chicken was hard and stale, I couldn’t actually eat it at all. It had a weird after taste. Would never recommend to that to anyone.
Edit: It seems like their wait time is just getting longer and longer (nearly 1 hr wait for a sandwich). Also they might’ve change their bread? it’s a lot thinner and smaller than before when one sandwich would be more than filling enough. Sadly, bumping down a star due to excessive wait times and underwhelming drinks. —— A beautiful cafe ornamented with plant decorations. The second floor is a plant shop and a seating area, which is very aesthetic. The staff there are always friendly. Food can take a while at times, expect at least a 20min+ wait for the sandwiches. Been here on multiple occasions and they never disappoint with their sandwiches. Bulgogi: Very tasty, there was so much beef inside. The vegetables tasted clean and fresh. The brioche bread was nicely toasted and the eggs were perfectly scrambled. The sauce is so addicting and flavorful too. Matcha / Oat Latte: Would not recommend since it only tasted like milk. BELT: Delicious egg & bacon. Lox: Probably my favorite since the salmon is very fresh. Tiramisu: It’s great to drink on warmer days, on the sweeter side though.
