Great Irish coffee, burger and beer from the tap. Reliable for a quick drink. Friendly down-to-earth staff.
Their style is distinctive without trying too hard. Their kitchen delivers excellence at reasonable prices. Workers showed wonderful service skills. The restaurant's name, Irish Punt, caught my attention right away. Excellent dishes complemented by the right surroundings...
We just happened to stumble upon this restaurant while wandering aimlessly. The server was extremely nice and took great care of us. The burger was great and the fries were fresh cut, not frozen! At the time we were there, it was quiet and relaxing.
Was on my way back to the hotel with no power on my cell and Dee from Irish Punt was extremely friendly and walked with me for blocks to make sure I made it back safely. It was over and beyond, especially at the end of a long shift and I will definitely be back to this fun bar!
A lovely little Irish pub in the financial district, and not your typical Irish pub at that! Run by authentic and wonderfully friend Irish expats, who are more than happy to welcome you into their cosy establishment and ply you with nice drink and some really good food! Despite visiting on a weekend (during which they close earlier in the evenings I think) I can see this location being very popular with the local Wall Street crowds, and with the quality of what’s served, you’ll understand why! Plenty of drink and food options to satisfy any palette or appetite, and it’s not the average pub food one might expect. If you’re in the area, I’d recommend wholeheartedly.
Great food and delightful service! Deirdre was awesome and made us feel like family. This was definitely the best dining experience we have had while in NYC. I recommend this spot to anyone that finds themselves in the area. Cold beer, great food, fantastic service... What more could you ask for?
Should be a 4.5. I had fish and chips. OMG it was good. Light fish in a light crispy batter - no lingering heavy feeling with this meal. Service is friendly and on par with what you would expect of a classic, low-key pub. It was quiet on the night I visited, but that suited my mood. Loved the 80's mix and Billy Idol was perfect. Guinness on tap - classic pairing for fish and chips. Lots of good spirits at the bar - indulge!
Punt on this Pub Visit Sept 28, 2017 ( 2.5-2.9 stars) Did not plan on stopping here, karma? Making my way from the 9/11 Memorial Museum. Stopped hoping for a great pint of Guinness and a very good dessert, specifically, bread pudding. This is your normal run-of-the-mill Irish pub. If you want to settle, please stop and partake. The first sin was the Guinness was on the flat side! Second, they only had a second-hand mass produced apple pie.. . The Shot of Jamison was good on the positive. I noted the patron next to me hogging down on a bunch of fried food, if you are in to mediocre tavern food, this plac e is for you. Additionally, the ambience is nothng special, a average bar and little wood and no booths that I saw.The bathroom had no paper towels, just a hand dryer to blow people's germs around. Yes, as another astute reviewer noted the service was good. Please note that I was one of approximately 6 people sitting at the bar. Enjoy!
This place is closed/out of business and I’m not surprised. An unremarkable pub, with at least three superior Irish pubs within blocks. Also the bartender was not friendly at all. I doubt anyone will miss this place.
Extremely rude owner. Has short hair and was stood in the male toilet?? so assumed she was a man. Because I attempted to use the toilet based on this assumption she caused a massive fuss and kicked me out of the bar…
Went here this week with colleagues for a going away celebration and had a really unpleasant experience. A staff member aggressively snatched my Starbucks drink off the table without saying a word, yelling about “no outside drinks.” I completely understand house rules and liquor license concerns, but basic respect and communication matter. Instead of calmly informing me, she got in my face (with cigarette breath) and even suggested if she should leave my drink on the sidewalk, like I’m a dog. Let’s face it, for me it wasn’t about the drink at all. It was about manners. It costs nothing to communicate with respect. All it would’ve taken was a simple, polite heads up before touching my personal property. Really disappointing and unprofessional. The whole thing left me thinking: if we were Wall Street guys in three-piece suits, would she have reacted the same way? Never again. This was the most despicable, disrespectful, dingy and dirtiest display of “hospitality” I’ve ever experienced. If you like yourself and have a healthy level of self-esteem, don’t come here. The staff seem miserable, maybe it’s the lack of windows in the space. I’d strongly advise them to seek therapy, anger management and some basic hospitality training. Won’t be coming back. Their loss.
Bit of a dud. Service wasn't great. Pint of Guinness was the worst I've had so far in NY. Plate of chips were not edible. No atmosphere.
I had a very unpleasant experience there today! I’m a tourist visiting the US and I ordered a drink there. One of the bartenders was continually harassing me in an aggressive tone trying to get me to leave. I couldn’t enjoy myself and I felt really uncomfortable the whole time. She was repeatedly staring at me from a distance and often kept coming back to me, pressuring me to order another drink as soon as she sees my glass empty. The two customers sitting right next to me to my right noticed and also wondered why she thought it was necessary to act that way towards me as a paying customer. The owner of this establishment should be made aware of how their employees are treating customers. I just did not like the way she spoke to me. Overall, it is an unwelcoming environment to be in. I had to leave! Not coming back there again.
