Great service from wait staff. Polite. Friendly. Not pushy. Typical NY steakhouse located in the lobby atrium of the NYT office HQ. Get the porterhouse for 2 - medium rare - with brussel sprouts and creamed spinach on the side - you won’t regret it!

Elegant and beautiful dining experience with delicious food and wine. The steak and lamb was cooked perfectly and spinach was sautéed with garlic and onions. Highly recommend and will definitely come back soon.

One of the most aged tasty steak I have recently had. The presentation was very “fine and chic” the steak was like a way better than I did expect. I got the small portion and it was more than enough to fill my spots. My only and big issue is the hostess, an old lady who NEVER smile, she was like grumpy, I suggest to pick the hostess for this kind of restaurant. You spend like $200 for a steak, you could at least have someone friendly to welcome you.

we were tourists from tokyo around 2018. the staff was super cool, and we just wanted to stay there forever. the steak was juicy, and we cracked open a bottle of wine in the daytime. definitely gonna come back!

Took my wife here for her Birthday Lunch. I must say we received excellent service and cuisine in a venue with wonderful atmosphere and ambiance. The BEST Porterhouse Steak ever...

The steak is simply great. The T-bone is soft and juicy with my favourite sizzling sound when it is served. The German potato is good but it is too salty for me. The only complaint for this place is that it is a little crowded and noisy for me. Maybe because the journalists love talking (Headquarter of New York Time is at the same building)

Warning the steaks 🥩 are much bigger than advertised and cut very thick!! Excellent food, excellent service, one of the best steaks I've had in awhile and I eat steak regularly. Price very reasonable, aka cheap especially in the heart of Manhattan.

Exceptionally great steak. The porterhouse dry beef is absolutely good. The meat is tender and juicy and goes really well with Wolfgang’s signature sauce. The seasoning is little salty but matches well with the better/oil on the hot plate where the dish is served. Onion ring is little salty but flavorful.

Great steakhouse, the meat is surprisingly tender and service is ok. The tomahawk cajun steak is my favorite, I totally recommend. I personally also like the sauce. The side dishes price is high but other than that, everything is great.

I really enjoy woolfgang steakhouse. It is Probably the steakhouse place I’ve visited the most so far. I especially enjoy this location particularly. Very clean and close to the times square. For me, steak, sauce and the side tasted so good and it is quite similar to peter luger. But as far as I remeber, waiters were much nicer! Love this place so much that I took my bf and mother few times :) Highly recommend!

Went here for a 40th birthday dinner. Food and service were excellent. You should be prepared to go hungry or split some of the dishes as portions are large. Easily could have split the filet mignon with someone else. It’s about 14-16 ounces. I ate the whole thing but it was great. Cooked fantastic. By far the best cut of meat I’ve had in a while. You get what you pay for so don’t be surprised by the prices. You will enjoy yourself for sure.

Best steak in New York! Came here for a work dinner and decided to share the porterhouse with 2 other guys. When it came out we were shocked by the sheer size of the steaks. We dug in and the meat was just amazing, barely had to chew the meat and the taste was stupendous. Great place for a romantic meal or for a good corporate dinner.

We knew this place by the local friend, they said it is one of the best steak house in NYC. and It is!. The Thick cut bacon is a must too!

This is a beautiful looking steakhouse. The service is on point and the food is excellent. I could see why there are multiple locations around the city. The waitstaff is very courteous and attentive. I really enjoyed Wolfgangs Steak Sauce on my Ribeye. They also serve up a very tasty Margarita. Definitely recommend this restaurant and will come again.

Very good steak, worth the price. The waiter was very professional and nice. The design is somewhat weird: at the evening it feels too spacious, not intimate. Wouldn't sit there for a long time.

We ordered Tuna tartar, Porterhouse for two, Brussel sprouts and Mashed potatoes. Porterhouse for two was juicy and tender. I liked the fact that the meat was not that buttery like Peter lugers. Mashed potatoes were so creamy and soft. Also, it has a typical high-end type of restaurant atmosphere. Service was professional and great. It's a perfect place for special occasions.

This was a repeat visit. Last year we went for a celebration of me and my brother's birthday with our family. The noise level on a saturday night is pretty bad and so I did not want to go back this year. Don't get me wrong. The food is wonderful, but I did not like the level of noise.Please keep reading below. Fortunately, we went on a sunday night and that was perfect. Also, we were in a big group of six people.So if you're going to go in a group, I would suggest not going on friday and saturday in peak times without expecting some considerable difficulty hearing people.Because that's just how it goes... There are probably times that are better than others.Because the peak time for dinner may be seven p m or eight.You could always call the restaurant and ask..And I don't know which times are better.That's the only reason I gave the atmosphere.Four stars. The food at wolfgangs is very high quality.They have steak and fish for main courses. The sides are extremely good. They have all sorts of veggies and the appetizers are not just salad, but also a sort of thick bacon that you can slice and then share with others. When the main courses come, the waiters help divide up all the sides to whomever would want them and they're very polite and ask you. Whenever I go-I go with a big group of people.So this is a wonderful service because it would be sort of uncomfortable to pass around. My brother had a caesar salad, which he really liked.And I believe he also got it last year. I love their mixed green salad and remember getting it last year, so it was a real treat to get it again. It was so good that I would have ordered another just to take home!. My niece and nephew love the thick bacon and shared it with their parents. Most of us got different types of steak. My husband adores filet mignon, so he got that and ate it all up. They have amazing white fish. 1 called chilean sea bass, which I had last year, and I never order it anywhere unless I am extremely sure it is fresh which is usually at steakhouses or restaurants that are on the coasts of somewhere. The fish was plenty huge and very good. The fish was flaky, delicious and when I didn't want the sauce, they gave me an alternative. They will cook the steaks to all sorts of degrees that you want. The staff also asked us one by one what we wanted to drink. They were extremely attentive. And when it came to dessert time, it was obvious that we were going to have to order almost one of everything, but it was also going to be an extremely expensive collection of desserts. They all sounded good.And it was party time! .They are about eighteen dollars per dessert. But if I have said before this restaurant is not cheap. It is extremely expensive. It is also located...I believe in the new york times building.It has a really beautiful setup. You get to see through a set of walls that are glass, an inner sanctum of trees and grass. There is also a beautiful looking bar though I have not used the bar personally. The bathroom for the women could have been bigger and one of the stalls was broken so it wasn't super efficient to go in and get out quickly. But it was clean and very pretty.

I had a good time at this place. I went to Peter Luger steak house several times. But I went here the first time last Friday. Because I heard about the racism issue with Asians. But I never felt any problem. The whole staff was so kind and friendly. Also whenever our glasses were empty, they filled them quickly The steak was perfect. And the bacon was very impressive. That was so good!! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Certainly a great steakhouse! My wife and I both had the Filet Mignon, and loved every bite! The attention to detail is unsurpassed, the food is 5-Star, and the staff (many from Montenegro) made us feel welcome and right at home. They have a great wine selection and the filets were truly 'melt in your mouth' quality! The restaurant is well-worth a visit, and a favorite of the locals. I hope to come back soon!

I love steaks a lot and this steakhouse was walking from our hotel so we decided to give it a show. We got a big ribeye and a tomahawk. Our group was 4 people, and we left the place very full. Steak was just the way I imagined. All the sides were very tasty and amazing. This is definitely a must visit place. I don't think anybody will regret coming here.

Absolutely one of the best steak I’ve ever had. Wolfgang’s steak is perfectly great and other dishes are quite good. And the vibe in the restaurant is so neat that I could think this restaurant is the coolest one out of five in Manhattan. Such an exquisite !

I have had experiences on top 3 new York steak houses, and I can tell here is the best house for filet mignon. It was juicy and fresh at the same time. To be honest, I had steak in the Korea branch, but the quality is totally different, and the price is also cheaper. The ambiance is not that classic, but staff served in a very professional way. I would definitely visit the steak house again if I had a chance to visit NYC next time.

WolfGangs is the BEST steakhouse in the city! The menu and quality of food are worth the price. The wine list is the greatest selection and accomplishment for any meal. The waiter recommendation was 10000% matched with my expectations! The service and management provided the real hospitality and care for my group! Many thanks for everything! Will back soon.

It is one of the best steak restaurants in New York. Everything was literally perfect. The temperature and the softness were awesome. I want to feel the taste again. Also, the servers service was great. Everyone was kind. If I have a chance to visit near again, I would definitely consider visiting Wolfgangs steakhouse again. One thing is that it was a little bit expensive. I spent $100 for each person.

The food was, no other way to put it. Amazing. Of course it’s very very pricey, but it’s a high establishment. In my opinion the prices were very fair if you consider the quality of the steaks and the portions. It took me nearly one hour to finish the ribeye! Definitely very stuffed. In my opinion Wolfgang’s, any chain of Wolfgang’s is the best steak you’ll find in the city, from a native New Yorker. The one on park Ave is also great, though didn’t accept party reservations for a single person so I came here instead. Well worth it. Highly recommend coming here. Probably one of the only good things in Times Square if you ask me. Will be back - as soon as next week even.

Went for birthday 🎂 meal and wasn’t disappointed. Everything we ordered was delicious and prepared exactly as we requested. Service was phenomenal, like most high end restaurants the wait staff was professional and very knowledgeable about the food. I was impressed by the redundancy ensuring the meal was memorable.

Quite sometime since revisit. Venue aged but still grand. Noticed same building Izakaya @ NY Times building no longer. Food great overall but could be better. Bacon not so salty good. Oyster, told blue point somewhat skimpy. Steak for two had few tenderloin vs sirloin. Baked potato not supersize. T&O good, steak sauce venerable. Service super. No complaint there as manager also makes a round. Remember this was tradition in other location as well.

I had a wonderful lunch here with my mother! Our server was incredibly considerate and even took the time to learn how to say 'hot' in Mandarin, a very sweet moment. I accidentally left my bag behind after lunch. The restaurant tried to call me, but I missed the call. When we returned to check, the server and the manager immediately recognized me and returned my bag! I'm very grateful to the entire staff for their kindness and care. The location is perfect, right in Times Square. If you're visiting the area, you should absolutely give Wolfgang's a try!

The food was delicious and the portion sizes were large. We had a great waiter who was very professional and made sure we had everything we needed. On top of that, the atmosphere was excellent with a large chandelier above us - providing great mood lighting. Overall, it was a good experience.

Over all I’d say I was happy with this dinner. I’ve come to realize that the place has really turned into a steak house for tourist and the older right crowd ever time I come here. It’s very expensive but the food to me is worth it and the drinks are amazing. I think it was very over priced to not be cooked the way it needs to be as my filet came out almost med raw instead of a good medium which was disappointing since I couldn’t eat the entire thing but I thought that and the fries as well as the salad (Ceaser ) helped out. I wouldn’t recommend this place though however as a great steakhouse or experience for those who truly love steak houses, the vibe and other factors make it just ok, or like last night it was a pre drink and quick dinner vibe before a movie and at $240 for two people and a couple items it www somewhat disappointing!

Best poterhouse steak experience in my life at the first piece of steak. Some of staff was good, but not everyone. we didn't know every side menus are serve for more than 2 persons. Most of menus are overpriced except steak. Location was nice. Interior was also good. but too noisy to fully enjoy the food. space between the tables are too narrow.

We went here with a bigger group for a business dinner. We did an online reservation for a table at the same day, that worked without any problems. We even could easily change the number of people online simple and quick. First of all, the food, especially the meat was great. Quality and how it was prepared was just on point. This would definitely be a five star rating. We shared some big steaks with the group, what was way enough for all of us. It was still a pretty expensive evening, but you will get some good pieces of meat for that. Ambiente is just a big, loud, bright room. So not really cozy. I would come here again for a good steak, or might try one of the other location, with a different ambience but same food.

Excellent location, it was oddly quiet when I walked in, delicious food, and outstanding service. I got the chickens soup of the day, the grilled sea bass and Creme Brûlée.

The food was 10/10. Truly delicious, a culinary delight served by kind and welcoming staff.

Service and atmosphere excellent. The steaks were also excellent -- particularly the filet mignon, one of the thickest I've seen and it was cooked perfectly (coast to coast, med rare). The sides were decent -- I'd avoid the lobster mac (overpriced, almost no lobster at all, basically just 26 dollar mac) and the creamed spinach (lower tier in comparison to other places I've ordered it). The Canadian bacon was our favorite side; German potatoes, Brussels, and mushrooms were all decent (good but basic). We asked the constituents of the seafood tower and they were mediocre, so we sort of build our own with oysters and shrimp, both which were excellent (particularly the oysters-- some of the best that I've had in quite awhile). The bill is obviously going to be $$$ at a place like this, but as expected. Rarely do steakhouses because I can make this meal better at home for a fraction of the price, but it's nice to occasionally dine at a fancy spot with friends. I'd come back.

Great food. Love the bread. The cocktails were good. Although they don't offer a big selection of cocktails. Just wanted a Hurricane but if it's not on the drink menu they won't make it. Very expensive. The menu is A La Carta. The dress is casual. Nice casual though. Nothing like a formal or a suit. The wait staff is ok. They don't seem to be real friendly. Maybe it was because we were in a large group and he was stressed out. But then again maybe at least 1 more waiter/waitress should have been there to help with our group. He seemed irritated because everyone had a question or 2 or 3 about the menu when it came to their turn to place their order. A few people from the group made a comment about him not being very polite but he was fine with me. I didn't have any issues with him. When we sang happy bday to one of the people in our group he was probably the one with the most excitement in his voice and the best energy. He did a good job for only having other waiters help him deliver the food and refill waters. If you enjoy steaks give this place a try. If you want to take your special someone on a nice dinner date this would be a good choice.

Ordered the Porterhouse for three and it was good. Their lobster mac and cheese was so creamy. Wished there was more lobster in it though. I thought we had to dress up because it's a fancy place but not everyone was dressed up. I guess because there are a lot of tourists it doesn't really matter unless you try to wear flip flops. We made a reservation but there were plenty of tables at 4pm on a Saturday.

The atmosphere , the service and timer importantly the food was great. The bathrooms were gross for the type of restaurant this is . There was toilet paper all over the floor. Definitely could improve the overall hygiene / cleanliness of the women’s bathroom.

The original charm of Wolfgang’s steak has been replaced by a small steak house chain like feel. While the food quality was excellent, the service was solid, it’s become just a steak house… that old world $50 steak on an empty white plate and if you’d like a side add another $15… great for a real meal before a broadway show or an expense account dinner. Would you like protein on your Caesar salad at dinner can’t happen. You order the salad and you order your protein… during lunch it’s no problem but dinner?!? No sir.

Try the bacon since the owner worked at Lugers. Atmosphere great, service great, portions generous, food really really good. Went with some friends and had the bacon, shared the porterhouse (medium rare), mashed potatoes, mushrooms and onion rings. My only negative comment is there were leftovers and the waiters never asked if we wanted them to be wrapped up to go. Somewhere disappointed considering the prices.

Located in Times Square vicinity, this is the closest decent steakhouse to Dave & Buster, and Port Authority Bus Terminal. They stay open till 11pm, so convenient for a late dinner, then take bus back to NJ. Even on busy weekend nights, chances are you will get a table. Being in Midtown, they have a short but very expensive menu. There are few individual steak dishes, but they also provide combo, that comes with mix of different type of meat. Their sea bass and lamb chops are pretty good too. We were little disappointed with the side dishes of Asparagus and Brussel Sprouts. Those lacked flavor, seemed it was just booked in salt water. We had a good service. Our server suggested us an excellent wine that complements the steak entree. The food came out with a manageable wait time. They also made a special side dish for the 4 year old at our table. Even though it doesn't stack up to the best of steakhousea in the city, it a decent option when your are hangry and want some steak for dinner! Prepare yourself to drop some bucks!!

This place is nice but overrated. The restaurant wasn't crowded, but yet it took almost an hour to get our food. My wife's crab cake was more filler than crab. The lobster mac-n-cheese had very little lobster. And the sautéed spinach tasted burnt. Not worth the money. Olive Garden next time.

It wasn't bad but for the hype and price I expected more. Certainly the bread quality could be upgraded and served warm, it seemed it was day old bread. The French onion soup was good, but heavily salted. Crab cake, good, not exceptional. The best part of dessert was the whipped cream, which was exceptional. Staff were attentive and met our table's needs. Coast check was friendly and efficient.

I visited Wolfgang’s Steakhouse for my last lunch in New York. Since it was lunchtime, the restaurant wasn’t too crowded, which made for a relaxed dining experience. We ordered the Porterhouse for two and the Wolfgang Salad, and since it was lunch, we went with iced tea for drinks. The portion size was huge for a couple, and overall, the service and quality of the steak definitely lived up to the price. The sirloin side of the porterhouse was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was especially impressive. One small downside was that the filet side was closer to well-done than expected. Still, it was enjoyable overall and a satisfying way to wrap up our New York trip.

It would have been nice if they had informed me of this overpayment. To prevent this from happening, they should have also made it clear that the bill included a tip.

When we visited in last May, we were seated in most tucked-away corner of the restaurant. My seat was uncomfortably tight and dimly lit. Neither the server nor the receptionist gave off a welcoming vibe, and the server, in particular, seemed to lack any sense of professionalism. Honestly, the service was worse than what you’d expect from a fast food chain in your neighborhood. We had to specifically ask for extra plates and utensils to match the number of people at our table, which should’ve been a given. When I had questions about the menu while ordering, the server didn’t provide clear answers and avoided making eye contact, looking elsewhere during the conversation. When the porterhouse steak finally arrived, our assigned server was nowhere to be found, so another server stepped in to serve us. That server was friendly and much more professional, which was a relief. However, when it came time to pay, our original server still avoided looking at our table, which made it unnecessarily difficult to get the bill. The food itself was delicious, but the poor service from our assigned server completely ruined the experience. Honestly, I questioned why I even needed to leave a tip, but I ended up leaving the bare minimum out of pity. It’s such a shame for a place like this.

Went for dinner last night, had porter house for two, 2 sides, an apple strudel and a coke. The steak was quite good, service was OK, atmosphere pretty nice in a traditional stakehouse style. Paid 250usd before tip, for that price I was expecting excellence, so was underwhelmed.

Possibly the most generic work dinner steakhouse in the city. That isn't to say it's bad; just that it's the usual. The steak is perfectly cooked to spec, but there isn't much beyond that to say. Great for an "as expected" meal with the team. 3.4/5

Being a chain no matter who's name is on the sign I went in only expecting so much and got exactly that. The appetizers were very good, the steak and sides were average at best. They also served my Stella's beer in a warmish mug which being a beer man made me highly disappointed as the glass can make all the difference.

Steak was ok, pasta was good. I don’t know if it’s worth it to pay that much money tho. And they charged $4 for hot water and didn’t mention anything. I’ve never seen a place who charge for hot water.

Customer service was exceptional! Minus the restaurant manager....he was not hearing past the reputation of the establishment to recognize, and acknowledge, the poor quality of the steak. The texture of the rare ribeye was that of blue rare top sirloin, at best. We tried to chew it, but just couldn't get through it to swallow. Embarrassing to spit onto the plate as our lap napkins could not take it all. As hunters, and red meat lovers, we felt our opinion and taste mattered. He did not. We would not return.

The beef was sour and dry. The mashed potatoes were bitter and had no onion flavor. The bread served before the meal wasn’t good either. We’ve been to many different Wolfgang’s locations — none were like this. There’s a clear disconnect between the inside and outside. When we raised our concerns, instead of an explanation from the chef, we were lectured by the manager. He had a firm attitude and insisted there was nothing wrong with the meat.

The space itself is great. Fairly modern, spacious, and carries that classic steakhouse vibe you’d expect. I was here with friends, and honestly, it should’ve been a solid experience just based on that setting alone. But the food and service really didn’t live up to the name or the price tag. Our server came across more demanding than welcoming, barely said a word beyond the basics and gave zero follow-up once our food hit the table. It was almost like we were bothering them by being there. Things got noticeably colder the moment we said we weren’t ordering alcohol, just still water. That kind of energy is hard to ignore. We had the Wolfgang’s Salad and Crab Cake, and not a word of explanation was given about how either would be served. Not that it's a huge deal, but for a place of this caliber, you'd expect at least a little guidance. The steak was another story. We ordered medium-rare, and what came out was more like well on one side and medium on the other. Based on other reviews, seems like if you want actual medium-rare here, you'd have to order it medium. I honestly had to laugh. I know this spot has a big name and reputation, but based on what we had, my friends said they’ve had better at Empire, and they had one only two days prior. I don’t doubt that the quality is there when everything is done right, but from how we were treated to what we were served, it just didn’t land for me. Disappointed more than anything.

We were very disappointed with our experience. We ordered the “sliced beefsteak onion and tomato salad,” reasonably expecting it to contain beef. When the dish arrived with no steak at all, we were told that “beefsteak” referred only to the way the onion was cut, and that we had not read the menu properly. The explanation itself was confusing, but more importantly, the response was dismissive rather than apologetic. If a dish name commonly implies beef, this should be clearly explained to guests before ordering. Service afterward felt uncomfortable. When ordering steak, I asked for it to be “fully cooked,” which is a very common and understandable request. Instead of clarifying politely, the server insisted he did not understand and corrected me in a way that felt mocking rather than professional. A server’s role should be to translate guest requests into kitchen terms, not make guests feel embarrassed. Additionally, when we ordered wine, the bottle was never shown to us. The wine was simply poured and served. Proper wine service requires presenting the bottle so guests can confirm what they are being served, especially at this price level. Taken together misleading menu wording, defensive responses, uncomfortable service tone, and improper wine service — this experience did not meet the standards expected of a restaurant of this reputation. The soup of the day was also extremely disappointing it was just chicken broth. Unfortunately, it left us feeling disrespected rather than welcomed.

I have been here a few times over the last 5 years and have had a good experience. Went here on my birthday. Steak was extremely rare when I ordered medium. Asked if they did anything for birthdays and they said they did dessert. When they gave us the bill they charged us for the dessert which I assumed was just a mistake. When I told them that they charged us for it they said that they didn’t do anything for birthdays and were rude about it… bad service and it was over $200 for 2 people with 2 entrees and one side. I’m fine paying for good service and quality food but this experience unfortunately provided neither. Do better

No service at all. We went to try out the steak there. We ordered a steak and an appetizer since we thought they were enough food for us. However the server was not happy, I’m not sure if he’s not happy with us not purchasing more (these 2 dishes already cost $170+) or he has other reasons that he doesn’t want to tell. He didn’t want to watch us when he’s talking, didn’t bring breads until we asked, and didn’t figure out we were ready for check while passed by many times and busy with other stuff. For restaurants where people have to pay this much $, they should provide same level of services, but at here you only got garbage. Very disappointed!

Its an embarrassment that this "restaurant" can serve undercooked pale imitations of a proper steak and serve it to unsuspecting tourists for 100 dollars a serving. This is a prime example of the ridiculousness of restaurants in New York and should be a last resort after McDonald's.

But we do feel it was overpriced. That was faultless, then the debacle began, the bill arrived and another server whisked our bill and card off, we presumed to get the card machine. After a lengthy wait, we enquired where he was, …. His reply was I’m not shopping with your card! Totally unprofessional. Then to be told after enquiring again, that another tables bill had been put through on our card, and our own bill. I asked for the wrong bill to be voided and apparently it’s only the manager Maria who isn’t in till the next day to sort the double billing out, in fact they couldn’t even tell us what the amount was that was overcharged. I was told not to worry it will be sorted, by the server and front of house, no apologies, their whole attitude changed when we said this wasn’t acceptable, for the worst, we were made to feel very uncomfortable …..its terrible customer service, We are now waiting for Maria to sort this out, THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED, what a spoiler to our visit😡

Be aware that they will add a tip of about 23% to my bill without informing and then ask for an additional tip! The service we received was poor—the staff was unprofessional,inattentive, and far from the standard one would expect at a fancy restaurant like this. so I didn’t want to pay this much tip. I felt forced to pay it. Also, I had to buy water $12 per bottle. It seems like their goal is to make customers spend as much money as possible. Worst restaurant experience ever had. The service is really awful! Our first impression of the restaurant was one of the server smashing the cups down hard on the table in front of us. Shocking! During dinner, the other server took the empty beer glasses away without asking permission or saying a single word in front of the guests. When we were trying to pay for the bill, the server walked straight to our table and took away the credit card on the table without even asking for the customer’s consent. It feels like it’s his credit card and not mine, extremely rude! When my son walked up to him and asked, “Why did you take away the credit card like that?” He responded with, “Have you never been into a restaurant before?” Mind you, the day before, my son gave another Italian restaurant the top tips as a way of appreciation, as the dining experience and server attitude was far superior to any of the servers that were serving us. The servers had an arrogant attitude throughout the entire dining process. We were going to order more food and desserts, but it’s a shame we didn't due to their lack of experience and terrible attitude. We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I would like to make this very clear that we ordered “medium”, but when we got the steak, we could find significant portion (9 slices) were obviously “raw”. I’ve been to many other steakhouse labels and this is my first time to actually see unevenly cooked, and uncooked meat. Only the atmosphere was a good point, while food was highly underwhelming. I believe wolfgang should, and can provide their food in a better condition especially at an exorbitant price. It was also questionable that they seated Asian customers to only corner ones. Today was such a disappointment.

We had very high expectations as Wolfgang is one of New York’s well-known steakhouses, but our Christmas dinner turned out to be deeply disappointing. First, although we had a 6:15 PM reservation, we were seated 20–30 minutes late. Given that it was Christmas, we could understand the delay. However, after placing our order, it took ONE FULL HOUR for our steaks to arrive. We clearly ordered before the tables next to us—and even the table behind us—and we saw our server submit the order, yet all of those tables received their steaks far earlier than we did. Throughout this time, no server paid any attention to whether our food was coming out. There was not even a single server we could ask; they all rushed past, too busy to acknowledge us. The most unbelievable part was what happened afterward. When we asked for the check, the server asked BEFORE running our card, “Do you want to tip 20% or 25%?” We were confused and asked again, but received the same question, and awkwardly answered 20%. We assumed this meant the tip would be included upfront (which in itself is unreasonable and feels like forced tipping). However, when we received the receipt, it showed the usual 18%, 20%, and 25% options—and the server had already PRE-CHECKED 20% on our behalf. An 18% option clearly existed, yet it was presented as if it did not. I was shocked. There is no restaurant where staff decide and mark their own tip amount. This behavior is unacceptable and unjustifiable. The food itself was also mediocre at best. For this price, I strongly recommend spending your money elsewhere where the service is far better.
