Excellent experience and delicious food! We love coming to Hearthfire Grill. Dinner or happy hour! All of the food is wonderful and the staff are exceptional. Plenty of tables with a fantastic view of the bay. They have a terrific selection of steaks and seafood!
First visit and everything was great food, service, the overview of the water, and overall appearance of the restaurant. Absolutely amazing coming back!
Had a lovely time here with our friends. Window seats with amazing views of the Olympic Mountain Range and harbor. We got to watch the seals fishing and the crew team practicing. We all had variations of the early bird special and everyone cleaned their plates... so good!
This was our first time here and WOW! I was so impressed! The views were amazing, the food was so flavorful and cooked to perfection.. we loved every bite. We got the Columbia Steelhead plate and the meatloaf plate. The server was so accommodating and all the waitstaff was great. We just had a really great time and we will definitely be back. Thank you!!
Amazing food. Great staff. Jesse always the best server.
Too many steakhouses have lean steaks. I eat a lot of steak and when I want a ribeye with generous marbling I can get it at Anthony's Hearthfire consistently. I also don't eat many carbs and they always have substitutions with low carb options.
The best steak salad I’ve ever had. Third experience here and it’s lovely every time. We had an issue with a steak order (not their fault, some folks are picky about their steak being very, very well done and that’s okay. It’s wrong (i kid lol) but okay) and they comped that meal and gave us desert so we could all eat together. Will be back soon!
Enjoy the view, have a drink, and eat a salad with a knife! Great location for a fancy meal out in Budd Inlet.
We've been here about 4 times in the last 2 years and their food quality, variety and service has been top notch. The last visit for father's day : we had mostly the Steelhead Trout in various versions, burger and entree and it was perfect. The panko Cod burger was great as well. Nice little location tucked away towards the waters edge in the Port of Olympia campus, providing a cozy and romantic getaway.
The food and service was nothing short of amazing. Would hugely recommend if you are looking for a good view. Our server Elena was wonderful and the chef even walked our bread which we all thought was cool. 11/10.
A beautiful venue set right on the marina. Absolutely gorgeous!! The server was friendly and took good care of us. The food?? The food was beautifully presented and was absolutely delicious. We had the Alaskan lingcod with a luscious sauce of fresh berries served with almond rice and fresh peas. We also enjoyed the clam chowder and the stuffed mushrooms. The prawns were the best ever and the crab cakes were delicious too. We enjoyed the cheesecake and the shortcake with fresh berries for dessert.
Such a great place! Food and drinks were so good and the service was incredible.
Warm, comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. Food is top-notch and presentation is beautiful. Prime steaks and fresh fish cooked over wood fire grill. Perfect place for a nice dinner in the Olympia area.
Server was so nice responsive and helpful. There when you needed her but not overly checking in. Mahi mahi was the best!! Pineapple salsa on top really made it unique.
Update: 7/7/23 After my first review, the general manager, Sabrina, offered us a gift certificate to come back. We were extremely pleased that we came back. I'm happy to announce they have incorporated more gluten-free options for their customers. The food was delicious, with great portions and really hot. My family went with fish and chips, prawn fettuccine and macaroni and cheese with bacon and chicken with a side of sweet potato fries for our main course. Salads and shimp cocktail for our starters. Our server was very friendly and helpful with a great smile. We will definitely come back. We loved the time we came at 3:30 pm. Not very busy or very loud, plus you can have a window seat. I was really disappointed in this restaurant and they're lack of gluten-free options. They really didn't have a variety of choices you were stuck with prawns and steak. Our server was rude and not helpful at all about how we could have a meal there. We ended up leaving and going someplace else. Honestly a big restaurant like this should have more variety of foods such as breads, Other fish dishes, chicken, not so much Prawn items. We were very disappointed on the lack of variety.
Kiana was our server this time and the last time we came a few months ago too. She was so friendly and inviting and gave us excellent service. The food arrived nice and hot and was just delicious. Definitely go before 5pm on weekdays for the early dinner specials if you want to get the best deal. If you're bringing a date, schedule your reservation for 30 minutes before sunset and request a window table. So beautiful and romantic.
This is a restaurant I would come back to. Wonderful food, great service, staff was very polite and friendly.
Great spot for waterside dining. Food is well prepared and the cocktail menu is always offering something new. Sitting outside on the patio during nice weather is a must, but don't forget your sun glasses! Gluten-Free rating: 3.5/5 Gluten-free friendly, but limited in offerings.
It's worth it just for the view. They were busy, so it took a while to get drinks. We got a spot tucked away in the corner outside, and it was perfect. I love how it's separate from the rest of the city. The menu is pretty small. I decided on a strawberry mojito, and it topped any of the other drinks I ordered off the menu. The crab and artichoke dip was amazing. I also got a salad and desert. Yum! The desert was fluffy, yet biscuit like. I recommend all pictured items!
Highly recommending this place for LUNCH on the water. Stopped in for a birthday lunch and really enjoyed how lowkey, but beautiful, this restaurant is. We sat windowside and watched as the birds dove, jellyfish waded, and tide went back out. Very cool experience. The food was also really good and really reasonably priced. From the lunch menu, we had the classic fish and chips, along with a salmon burger. Also enjoyed a glass of Cab and their seasonal appletini. All of it was really well prepared and we had a great time. Even with drinks and an app, we got out without breaking the bank, too. That’s a huge upside after hearing all the hype surrounding this dining experience. Overall, it’s an easy recommendation. We’re hoping to come back for dinner soon.
Stopped in for happy hour. We ordered the burger, shakin beef, romaine salad and a couple of beers. The food was excellent, especially the shakin beef. Beautiful view of Budd Inlet and the Cascade mountains.
The wait staff is very attentive and it’s relatively quiet the view of the water is wonderful.
My husband and I tried out Anthony's for our last night in Olympia before heading to Seattle. We did not have reservations as we decided to go last minute. We were seated almost immediately upon arrival with all staff super nice and courteous. Dinner service was prompt & efficient. The caesar salad was wonderful as a starter with just the right amount of dressing and toppings. My husband ordered the Margarita Prawn Pasta with asparagus and I had the Steelhead fish with corn pudding and asparagus. They do bring out a garlic focaccia type bread to accompany your meal as well. Everything tasted wonderfully and cooked perfect! We enjoyed our time here and would definitely go back! The scenic views were relaxing and wonderful for catching the sunset!
Beautiful and calm place to celebrate life events, I truly enjoyed this place. Food taste was exquisite and view from the restaurant was amazing. Must try their fall season special Apple dessert.
When we got an unexpected opportunity for a date night kidless we jumped to it. It's been years since we've at Hearthfire and the weather was too nice tonight to not head on down. We made our reservation online, which I recommend because of the location and views it is super popular. Especially during the summer and crisp warm fall nights. We ate inside this time but love the deck too. Amazing service, view always incredible and the food sublime. I couldn't ask for a better night out with my love, excited to go back because it was so delicious. We got a drink, entree and dessert for each of us and the $$ we spent was worth it.
We are here for our anniversary and the meal and atmosphere are perfect. Excellent calamari, outstanding flank steak and delicious cocktails. Service is solid, but not very personal or attentive.
Beautiful views, seals, birds, water, Olympics. My steak salad with fresh pomegranate seeds and pecans was delicious, gluten and dairy free. My mom loved her grilled cheese, tomato soup and crème brûlée.
We had a delicious brunch after visiting the farmers market. My husband had fish and chips with a ginger coleslaw. I had an amazing huckleberry waffle with whipped cream on top! The waitress was a delight and the views of the bay with a playful seals were perfect.
Demolished the flank stake, also cookie skillet is a must. Service was amazing, I don’t think my water even got anywhere near the bottom of my glass. Atmosphere is on par with some of the better restaurants I’ve been to; the view of the water is quite nice. 10/10
We went to celebrate our anniversary and just went to the lounge for happy hour. The food was great the service well could have been better, 20-25 minutes to get a beverage longer to get an order taken. Very popular with the locals and understably so. Happy hour menu and prices are very good. I didn't interrupt the manager to ask if the were short staffed but it seemed like they were, the table across from us sat there 25-30 minutes before the table got cleared from the previous party and got a beverage order taken. We'd definitely go back but get there early for a booth. Happy Hour menu only available in the lounge.
This was quite unexpected as we were going to the other one. The vibe here is more intimate. Ill be back. The view is great, and the Steelhead was superb.
Went here for my bfs bday lunch Service and food was great. Lovely views. Definitely want to come back for the dinner menu 🍽
This location was very nice great ambiance great views there are no bad tables in this location. Each table has great views. The bar is nice neat and trendy. The seafood bought fresh daily. We ordered the aged steak very good so tender I will be back. Thank you for a great experience.
The food is good. Prices are really high but you're paying for the view. There is a small menu you can check out online. The service was good but extremely understaffed and slow when we visited. There is plenty of parking. Outdoor seating is amazing. We watched the seals. Everything is very clean. The mini pie jars are fair but not great.
Anthony's Hearthfire Grill is truly a hidden gem that offers an amazing location and breathtaking views. Whether you visit for lunch or dinner, you'll be captivated by the stunning scenery that surrounds the restaurant. During my visits, I did experience some delays in the service. It took a while for our server to come back and take our orders on both occasions. This resulted in a slightly slower dining experience. Additionally, our server seemed a bit unfamiliar with the menu, which made it challenging to get detailed information about certain dishes. However, despite these minor setbacks, we still had a great time. The location and views alone were worth the visit. The ambiance was inviting and the overall dining experience was enjoyable.
Go for the view! The food was just okay, unfortunately. I wouldn't go specifically for it. The margarita was weak. And the service was super slow, despite it not being busy. Kind of felt forgotten about, but at least we didn't feel rushed! (That's the worst, right?) And we got to sit and talk and enjoy the view, so maybe it wasn't so bad. (Although, the rhubarb-strawberry margarita we decided to try while we were eating felt like a to-go drink because it arrived after the plates were cleared and we were ready for the check 😂) But the atmosphere and location makes it ideal for a meal out with friends, family, or business partners. I'd say it's a good place to go for a special occasion or to take a visiting or potential colleague.
Excellent value for money: the early bird menu for $29 for each 3 course dinner. The shrimp cocktail was good. I didn’t expect the tiny shrimp in it. The cocktail sauce was perfect for it. The salmon was moist and just slightly overcooked. The topping on it was excellent and complimented the rice pilaf. The green beans were aldente, perfectly done. The desert was cheese cake covered with a berry sauce. Delicious!!! Our guests had cod which also was perfect. Same rice pilaf and green beans. Their desert was crème brûlée and was an excellent finish to a wonderful dinner and beautiful view of the water and mountains. Not to forget, the service was friendly and pleasant.
We got here early for a 5pm reservation, we had to wait about 3 to 5 minutes before sitting, not sure why there were several empty tables. We got water fairly quickly, but then we waiting to put in our drink orders. I ordered tea and my companions ordered beer. We were never offer a refill or a second beard. I ordered an appetizer, soup, and Halibut. The appetizer never came out. The corn chowder lacked any flavor. The oregano lemon halibut was cooked right, but lacked flavor. I squeezed the lemon wedge and that was the only flavor the Halibut had. The vegetables especially the green been were very stiff and I feel like they were undercooked. The wild rice also had mild flavor from the cranberries and nuts. The service was friendly and knowledgeable, but didnt check in much. The view was great. Restruant was clean and modern. Food was presented well. It just didnt hit the mark. The price is right, for entrees. The appetizers, soups and salads all seem high.
This place is all about the atmosphere! Excellent views just about anywhere you sit. Two stars for service mainly due to the spacing of our items. We waited longer than usual for our appetizer, when it arrived, it was with our dinner entrees. Big disappointment. Servers seem to be rushed piling plates up, we experience three dishes/glasses breaking while we were there due to rushing to clear. Food was mediocre considering the prices. My grilled steelhead was good, I'm not sure what the sauce was and the cornbread "pudding" was an usual match. It did not compliment the meal. We also ordered shrimp cocktail as our appetizer, it arrived on a bed of cabbage and thousand Island dressing?!?
1st time at this Anthony's accompanying Newlyweds and a party of 12 total. Let me say at the outset that our server Jasmine & her team made the night worth it. For the $$$'s, the food was decent at best. I ordered the Hearthfire Steak Salad and asked specifically for it "WELL DONE" and it looked well done but pink inside. Another ordered the Shrimp & Crab Dip, and again, it looked good, but the texture was watery. I don't drink, but others ordered, and the drinks were watered-down. Overall, the service was awesome, but the food and atmosphere was decent at best. I may return just not anytime soon!🥊🥊🥊 *p.s. my personal experience
Overall, what truly gives this place its best selling points - the location, views, cleanliness and beautiful structure. However, the food is quite honestly remarkably average at best. The steak was decent, cooked to closely medium rare, but below average in comparison to other steak houses. The sides were not so great - potatoes tasted like they were made out of a bag of powdered potatoes. Service was friendly, but not attentive at all. Despite not being that busy, there were exceptionally long time gaps between being seen, placing orders, drink refills, and receiving the check. I recommend dining here if only for the lovely view of the water.
We were excited to arrive to yet another Anthony’s after Covid happened but left unhappy. To start off, we’d arrived at exactly 7:07 for a 7:15 reservation. The sunrise started our evening beautifully, yet, being seated was confusing. Upon arrival the staff at the front, we will say Lady A.. Lady A asked us for our names. Then Lady B walked up and asked the same question. After exactly 8 minutes Lady C walked up to seat us. That was perfectly fine till we tried ordering. It took about 10 minutes for us to get our drinks and another 11 to get our small tenderloin Starter at exactly 737. After another wait period we’d sat waiting to order our food which was asked of us exactly 10 minutes later and came at 7:57. The original server that had sat us down came up to us twice, during the entire service, once, to refill my drink, and the second time to pick up our appetizer plates. As a matter of fact we had a male server refill our breadbasket. And another female refill our other cup. It was understandable, the night was busy. As far as the prices go, our total came out to 101$ for one starter, two drinks, two entrees, two sides of mashed potatoes, and a dessert. Which was reasonable. The food wasn’t amazing, the wait could’ve been better, the attentiveness of our server could have been better. At least we got to enjoy the sunset. Overall we’d left on a full stomach and that was all that mattered.
This restaurant is excellent with there sea food but not to much with the other stuff. But service was amazing. Definitely a fancy restaurant style food as well but good family time as always.
TL;DR - Great views with mediocre food and subpar service. Me and my colleagues were in town for business and wanted to go somewhere upscale after a week of daily overtime. We made the 45 minute drive from Dupont. We had a reservation for 5:00 pm and were seated after only a few minutes. We had water poured for us and our server brought bread to the table. The bread wasn't anything special, could have used some oil to dip it in. After a bit of a wait, our waiter was knowledgeable when asked about the fish on the menu, he did a good job explaining the options etc. I opted for the flank steak 3 course meal with Caesar salad, flank steak and jar of key lime desert. I got an additional cup of tomato soup and a beer. One coworker got blackened halibut with peach salsa and a beer, the other coworker got corn chowder, blackened halibut with the lemon orgeno seasonsing with an unsweetened tea. He also ordered the calamari as an appetizer. The views were awesome -- the reason you come to this place and not somewhere else. It was a rainy, drizzly day but the views still did not disappoint. Our drinks were brought out pretty quickly and so was my soup and salad. The Caesar salad was lightly dressed (one of my coworkers commented on it as well) but I thought it was good -- they added real chunks of bacon that made for a good bite. Tomato soup was just decent. I traded spoons fulls of soup with my coworker -- we both agreed that the corn chowder tasted like nothing with a slight corn aftertaste. It required salt and pepper to impart any flavor. Service wasn't great. Our server was nice enough, and made sure we had waters but never asked us if we wanted another beer and never refilled the unsweetened tea. The appetizer we put in never came out - we told him not to worry about it after the dessert came out. Checkins were very infrequent for the hour and twenty minutes we were at the restaurant. The food was plated very well - it looked appetizing, aided by the huge windows and lots of natural light. The flavor just wasn't there, though. Food was chronically underseasoned -- all three at our table agreed. When I went to add salt to my steak, the salt was clumpy due to moisture and when I shook it the plug on the bottom came off and showered salt all over me, the table and my food. My companions thought it was hilarious; I was a little bit salty about the whole affair. When I examined the shaker it was obvious that the plug at the bottom was stripped out and didn't grip well but that didn't stop it from being put out for service. My server helpfully offered to replace the salt shaker- I told him I thought I had enough to last for a lifetime. The cornbread pudding tasted better than I thought it would - I was expecting a soupy mess but it was actually very similar to stuffing. It wasn't that great, however. The green beans we all agreeded seemed rather undercooked. The peach salsa was diced very coarsely and the lemon oregeno seasoning added little flavor. The fish was advertised as blackened but appeared much lighter. When the dessert came out I was a little disappointed at the portion size. I offered my companions a bite and both declined: "That looks like it only has two spoon fulls, I don't want to eat all your dessert." The texture was closer to a thick pudding vs a key lime pie and the ratio of graham cracker crust to pie filling was off - it needed more crust. For price, I was OK with the three course early dinner option for $33 -- I felt that was a strong value. My companions who paid quite a bit more weren't as satisfied with their value for the money. I don't like giving out two star reviews but this went from a questionable 3 star to a solid 2 star with the service faux pas and the lack of flavor. Moral of the story: a nice place to see but I wouldn't want to eat there.
The view was the best part of this experience to me. Although the weather was light rain and overcast the view was still nice. The tall glass windows complimented the esthetic of the restaurant. Went to this place for dinner after a long work week. Reservation was for 5pm on a Friday evening. Was seated pretty quickly after arriving. Asked the waiter about the fish selection and he was pretty well versed in explaining the selections which sold me on the Wild Alaskan Halibut. One of my coworkers ordered the calamari for a starter which never arrived to the table. Bummer.. The starters for my coworkers came out. Tomato basil soup - was decent, nothing special to me or any of my coworkers. Caesar salad - looked pretty light on the dressing to me but my coworker liked it. Crab & corn chowder - had no flavor per my coworker. Entrees came out. I had the Blackened Wild Alaskan Halibut with peach salsa. There wasn’t enough char of the fish for my liking the salsa was okay but I felt the peaches could’ve been diced a little finer. The veggies had no flavor. One coworker got Wild Alaskan Halibut with oregano butter sauce and his take was he didn’t taste the butter sauce at all and felt his veggies were undercooked. The last entree was the Double R Ranch Flank Steak and his take was the steak was okay. Didn’t like the cranberry jalapeño relish it was topped with and felt his veggies were undercooked as well. The key lime pie far was pretty bland per my coworker as well and he didn’t like the texture of the pie nor the pie to crust ratio. Overall the experience wasn’t the best and the service was as mediocre as the food.
Great servers even though the bus boy help me out more food was great dishes dirty I got my drinks when I was almost done with my food went in for a quick meal sat down like I was getting a five-course meal when I ordered easy simple and it took 2 hours and don't pay in cash my waiter had to search for change. And I still had the kayak back to my truck almost got locked in the park. prices don't match service way overrated I definitely do not recommend unless you're only going for drinks. If it don't take you 1 hour to get a drink B.S. not worth it
Have eaten here many times. Usually decent. Tonight was below average. Service was terrible. Waiter was very inattentive and not friendly. Waited too long for everything. They forgot my romaine salad initially, then brought it at no charge. It was the best part of the meal. Mac n cheese was bland, fish n chips mediocre, flank steak was good. Mashed potatoes tasted like instant out of a box and were runny. Veggies were dry. We were all very disappointed. The resstaurant was half full, and it was Saturday night. Seems like this restaurant has gone downhill, portions have shrunk, and is expensive for the amount of food served.
The view and ambiance are truly beautiful, but unfortunately the cocktails and food were disappointing. We ordered the Cucumber Cooler (spicy), but instead of a well-balanced, thoughtfully prepared cocktail, it was basically a gin soda with two pieces of cucumber and two slices of jalapeño thrown in. Both the flavor and presentation were very underwhelming. We also ordered calamari, which was not appealing at all. The place was almost empty, with only about 3–5 people inside. Still, when we asked to sit by the window, the hostess told us those tables were reserved for large groups. Ironically, we were the largest group there (my husband, our child, and me). We were eventually seated by the window, but the whole situation felt unnecessary and awkward from the start. Overall, aside from the view and ambiance, there’s no real reason for us to return. Would we come back? Probably not.
Terrible service .This is where you want to base the tip on the service but we didn't. Our waiter was also the bartender ,it wasn't busy at all. He wasn't friendly and never checked on us. He looked like he hated his job. The steak and prawns is $48. First off, they weren't prawns , they were shrimp and there was only 3 maybe 4. The steak was very small and they loaded up the plate with cheesy mashed potato's that tasted like crap. For the price the food was terrible, service was even worse.
My husband and children and I went to Anthony’s last night to celebrate our 11 year anniversary. It was the first time my family of four dined here together, and the food was great, but our drinks were served to us in Unwashed cups. Never did anyone offer us a discount, an opportunity to return to dine for free, nothing. This took place after we waited for an hour watching the incredible chefs with our kids as we waited to be seated, we were excited to indulge in the romantic experience of the restaurant’s atmosphere. Bringing me a replacement, a Clean* cup and a “fresh” lemonade, isn’t an apology. My server was fantastic, apologetic, and maybe a little nervous. The staff is amazing. Management however? Silent. It a was unsettling experience that I am still thinking about the next day.
