The food was decent but what was really amazing was all of the gators! You could see them in the wild or in cages. The service was nice and the sunset was beautiful. There were also birds but if you want to see them, I suggest going in the afternoon.

Going underwater because of all the rain, the bar outside needs to be enjoyed before it sinks into the lake. Let's hope the rain stop so we get our terrific scenery back. Gator was laying on the porch out of the cage, just came in from the lake. Try gator it's awesome. The chicken tenders are really great here.

My favorite outing while in Florida! The property was fun to wander around with gators 🐊 basking as the sun peeked through the clouds. We had a few cocktails in the open air bar while waiting for our tour to begin. They are building a new bar and restaurant, I’d love to comeback and visit again. The captain of the airboat was an excellent tour guide, he knew all the hotspots and we saw tons of wildlife. We got to hold a young gator at the end!

Go there often what a great place to go and relax after day of riding, people are friendly. Just watching people who have never seen an alligator is very interesting. Will continue to be me my last stop on Sunday's after a day of riding, great staff, good food.

Super cool place, came here on a less peak time and was able to see alligators both in the wild and in captivity. The 2 for 1 margaritas were a great deal too

Wonderful experience from the airboat ride, to the kids getting to hold a baby gator, to the beautiful macaws onsite. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The burgers, gator bites, and fried pickles were delicious. Unique place to visit to experience natural Florida.

My husband & I visited today after 18 years since our last visit! (We moved 4 states away in 2008) Everything about Black Hammock is great!! I love the abundance of wildlife! All the food was awesome! We had the clam chowder, a black and blue burger, gator panini and black hammock burger. Quick service, too! If you haven't been, what are you waiting for?

I've been coming here for so many years with my wife. My only disappointment is years ago that used to make an amazing clam chowder with tarragon. If they could just start serving that again that recipe alone it's worth the trip out here!

The Lazy Gator Bar at the Black Hammock epitomizes Old Florida Living before the congestion and overdevelopment of the theme parks. The natural views are wonderful and sunsets are spectacular. The food is also reminiscence of older times with Florida favorites of gator tail, spicy shrimp and chicken and fish sandwiches. The bar is well stocked and they have specials on drinks on certain nights. Bingo and Karaoke are big draws so get there early for a seat. I do enjoy challenging the bar tenders to come up with their favorite drinks.

I love going to Black Hammock! We just recently discovered it and have come a few times. We've loved the 2-for-1 margaritas EVERY time! They are refreshing and well made. The food has been good - we've had burgers, sandwiches and my picky 9-yrs old has had tacos which she's loved every time. We love sitting at the bar area and enjoying the view of the water. The only problem with that is that the food comes from the restaurant and the drinks from the bar, so there are 2 waitresses and 2 checks to deal with. Seems silly but that's just the way it is. This also leads to slower than you'd expect service, but they are super nice. Overall, it is on my shortlist for burgers for sure!

A good place to grab a Bud with the locals, get some fried Gator tail, catch a sunset or schedule an airboat ride on Lake Jessup.

Changed to a 4 star because I just noticed it is specific to the bar and not the restaurant. Been here at least a couple of dozen times over the past few years. Food is decent but is hit or miss depending on what I order. Drinks are good and service , for me , always seems to be better outside in the afternoon. The last two times we ate dinner in the restaurant itself the service was disappointing. It's been at least a year since we have eaten in the restaurant so just rating on past experience. I'll be back to see if they have it squared away.... Great spot with fantastic views! Definitely worth a visit to see for yourself.

The view is fabulous. Going in the evening, sunset is easily seen and appreciated. By far, the view is the best thing about this place. There is a very limited appetizer menu. The margaritas are always 2-4-1 and tasted pretty good. Service is fast and friendly.

I thought this place was great. Everybody was so friendly and food/drinks were excellent. My only complaint is the bathrooms. They were really gross. There was live music too!!!

Im impressed. Not sure if it's because I had low expectations or if the food was genuinely good. I can tell you that the wings were crispy and juicy on the inside. Very well cooked and in fresh oil. The fries were seasoned and crunchy. And the burger was juicy and filling.... I guess the food was actually very good. Well done! The service was ok, nothing extraordinary. Good enough not to complain, lol. I would suggest better sauce options. We like a variety of hot sauces, and there were none. Actually, they sell their own hot sauce, and there were no tasters. It's pricey, so I opted not to take the risk to buy it. Missed opportunity on their part.

Omg the penisula is underwater !!!

My first time here - on a chilly sunny day. Our bartender Kelsey was inviting, humorous, and attentive. She’s a gem and her personality keeps this place going! Did order food however it was mediocre at best. Tried the gator bites which had more breading than gator, the bang bang shrimp came with wilted salad and were bland. This place is visually aesthetic, I would definitely come back in the summer for the outdoor seating and the view of Lake Jessup! Also, and more importantly I would come back for Kelsey!

Update 7/31/25: I don't know how this place frequently finds a way to piss me off. I show up a little after noon for a relaxing lunch at the Lazy Gator. And they're pressure washing with a noisy gas washer. And they aren't stopping until after 1 PM, lunch hour or not. "Sorry, it's the management that has me doing this." Well tell your management to get a clue. We went elsewhere. Original post: Great atmosphere, cold beer, decent food. Under no circumstances drink their tap water they serve you. My buddy described the water as a scrambled egg sulfur beer fart in your mouth.

Took the 30 minute air boat ride. It was just a air boat ride. Not a nature tour. Not impressed. The alligators in the fenced enclosure wasn't an attraction.

Worst experience I've ever had. Just had a wonderful air boat tour and attempted to get a drink. The bar tenders chose to openly ignore me and my family. Two women walked in and the male at at the bar decided to turn his back on us and address the two of them first after we waited for five minutes for him to pay attention. We raised out voices to get his attention and he finally acknowledged we were there. He said he was tired (it was 3:30pm). We said okay, may we have a menu. He responded with rolling his eyes and signaling for his coworker to come and help us. She explained to us that if we ordered food we would have to eat outside. At this point we were completely turned off to this experience. Air boat ride 10/10. Bar experience 0/10 do not recommend.

Her name was on the receipt!!!- , had a disgusting attitude and made it clear she didn’t want to serve us, even though we were friendly and gave her no justifiable reason to treat us that way. We had to go to other bartenders just to get a drink, yet the tab was still placed under her name. When we rightfully chose not to tip her for service we never received, she gave us dirty looks like we were the problem. She was rude, unprofessional, and completely out of line. If you end up here, don’t expect a friendly or respectful atmosphere from her. I won’t be coming back.
