Lovely little airport, either arriving or leaving. Always only 10-15 Minutes through passport control and baggage reclaim. Taxis are available outside, but it you're able-bodied you're missing part of the quirkyness of Gibraltar if you're not walking across the empty runway, the imposing rock towering above you, the ocean on you're left and algericas away to you're right, across the bay. Leaving is an equally pleasant end to your holiday with a great veranda upstairs in departures. Perfect for supping a coffee in the sun whilst watching your flight arriving to the peninsula.

Great little airport with good food options. It's not really cheap, but no airport is. Comfortable with a great viewing platform.

A place to always remember and we finally got lucky to visit Gibraltar and being able to see Morocco from Gibraltar. Wonderful visit and the tour guide was just perfect. Gibraltar was a duty free Country where everything was half price, food was not too good there, but view from the rock which we had to get special bus to do the tours. Amazing monkeys, great cave with 3D scenes, one of the most dangerous Tarmac in the world where we have been able to walk on, see planes, take pictures and of course touch. Remember to bring your passport with you as you need to go through customs. I highly recommend a visit to this country and also remember that alcohol and tobacco shops are duty free so buy heaps lol

Love this airport. Very clean, fast service. Lots of people employed even on quieter days. Everyone is friendly. Funny little English Pub airside and decent food and duty free options for such a small airport. Get your duty free airside wherever possible as it is cheaper.

Locally known as North Front Airport, it straddles a unique geopolitical and geographical crossroad—serving not only the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar but also acting as a gateway for travelers heading into southern Spain’s Costa del Sol. Originally opened in 1939 as a British military airbase, the airport’s single grooved asphalt runway—stretched from rock blasted off the iconic Rock of Gibraltar—now handles both military and civilian flights in a rare dual-use setup. What truly sets Gibraltar’s airport apart is its runway that intersects a public road. Winston Churchill Avenue, once closed every time a plane landed or took off, now sees its vehicular traffic rerouted through a tunnel opened in 2023. But pedestrians still cross the live runway—making it one of the few places in the world where you might literally walk across an airstrip. Unsurprisingly, the airport has earned a reputation as one of the world’s most “extreme” due to fierce crosswinds, urban proximity, and the nerve-wracking low-altitude approaches required in winter. Though modest in size, the terminal can handle up to one million passengers annually, with around 424,000 travelers passing through in 2024. Most flights are to and from the UK—served by easyJet and British Airways—with seasonal connections to Morocco via Royal Air Maroc.
