We love this back ally find. The chili is outstanding and a must try. The atmosphere is fun and whimsical.
Outstanding-food was amazing, great value, great location. Can’t be beaten
Love this place... perfect Paso Robles experience. Great BBQ, especially the tri tip! Their smoked tacos are the bomb. Wonderful outdoor patio restaurant. People who work there are a pleasure.
Great tasty food, timely service, great dinning in. Portions are a little small considering pricing, I know the economy is taking a hit, but wow. Also, there was a feel like we were disturbing the staff. I get that it was right after X-mas, and maybe they wanted to be home, but it kinda was bummer since I talked this place up to my husband. I’m hoping it was a one off.
I would definitely suggest eating here. I have tried the brisket, mac and cheese, the pasta, mac and cheese. The french fries, the wings, the ribs, the chili and everything was good. The service was good also. Yup I will be going back and it is located in downtown Paso.
I'm reviewing a non-meat option from a BBQ joint. Weird, I know, but it was truly the BEST veggie burger I've had in the 2 years I haven't eaten meat. And I've had some duds. The flavor was spot on, it had a nice texture, it wasn't dry & crumbly, not too big or too small, it really was just right :) Keep it on the menu and don't change the recipe...it's perfect!! And if you are inclined to publish a copy-cat recipe I'd love to make it at home, in Texas, where I live, to far away to have another one (insert sad face here).
So delicious! They really know how to BBQ with exceptional flavors. Im not a big smokey BBQ fan and Jeffry's was perfect. We ordered the brisket and ham and both were amazing- Melt in your mouth good! Friendly staff too a shell good o really vibe. They are also open for breakfast! We had the tacos and breakfast sandwich with a side of coleslaw- YUM! Can't wait to go back. Thanks Jeffry!!
We did a pit stop from Cambria to DT Paso Robles on our way back to Orange County. It was around 11:30am and we were getting fueled for the drive home. Having never been here, the choices were crazy. My wife spotted a sign that said "BBQ - down the alley" - and I said "um, yes, please!" It looked like just a courtyard, but with a garage door open for counter service food. Prices were pretty decent and the staff gave us great recommendations on the food. I ordered the brisket sandwich with potato salad and my wife ordered the pulled pork tacos. Food was amazing - probably the best Brisket sandwich I've had anywhere...including the full service places - potato salad was perfect, ice cold and had the perfect flavor of mustard/dill. The pulled pork tacos for amazing and just the right amount of heat. Pro-Tips: 1. Park around the DT park and walk over - it's free and no stress about being in the alley with assigned scarce spaces. 2. Ask the staff what's good - they got us some bangers! 3. Cleanest bathrooms on site! 4. The sandwich and side is the perfect amount of food
So glad ladies with FARMstead recommended this place. The line on a Friday night looked long at first, but went decent enough. Food was very good, they had a potato wedge special that was covered in all sorts of yummies, the brisket sandwich was fantastic, stole some of my friends ribs and beans and those were very good. Thought of coming here lots of times finally did and very glad I did.
Amazing BBQ in downtown Paso Robles. Located in Norma's Alley, it is just a block off the square. The food is totally worth the short journey. I ordered the Brisket sandwich with a side of dill potato salad. I also had a local brew (brown ale from Wild Fields Brewhouse, located in Atascadero, CA) and my hubby had the house wine, a blend that Jeffry, the owner created. Both were delish. The Brisket was one of the best I have ever had. Perfectly cooked, lean as could be and seasoned perfectly. And the potato salad was awesome because I love dill and this salad had just the right amount. My hubby ordered the Brisket Mac 'n Cheese and enjoyed every bite. Again, everything was perfectly cooked. Service is friendly and the seating outside was perfect, expecially on such a beautiful night. Highly recommend you try if you are in Paso. You'll love it!
Arguably the best BBQ place in Paso. Not steak house, because there are plenty of those but great BBQ of all flavors. The mac & cheese selections are second to none and the different BBQ meats are outstanding. I especially love that they have a very traditional Vietnamese Bahn Mi sandwich. The outdoor patio dining adds to the atmosphere. All the staff are friendly and offer top notch service. The photo is the Bahn Mi with a side of mac & cheese with a small order of brisket. (Dont judge the pic because I started eating before I remembered to take it 😁)
Really great place, tasty food, friendly staff, lovely outdoor patio with heating for evenings and umbrellas for shade on hot days. The meats were all delicious (we had sampler platter to try everything)—really balanced flavors and good tenderness and smokiness. Sides were superb: amazing Brussels, coleslaw, and award winning max-n-cheese. Wine and beer, some sports big screens for games. Big clean restrooms. Really good stuff!!
This might be a hard place to find, because the entrance is in an alley. When you get in there, there's a lot of seating for the four of us on a Sunday afternoon. There's a sign that tells you to order at the cashier and find a place to sit on your own in the small courtyard. Since we did not know what to order, we selected the barbecue sampler tray (brisket, pulled pork, chicken, baked beans, coleslaw, and bread with garlic butter). We did add to the sampler tri-tip and barbecue ribs. In addition, we ordered a side of seasoned fries. My family enjoyed the delicious food and would come back again. They have a large selection of beer as well as wine. Drinking water is self-served.
Great vibes in this place. Most of the seating was in the outdoor heated patio and a few tables inside. Food was good. We got the Brisket and Ribs Combo Tray. The smoked ribs were meaty and tender. The brisket was also good. It’s a little skimpy on the meat portion but it tasted good. The sides were generous. The mac & cheese and beans were both good. The potato chips were so good, especially with the aioli. However, for $35 I expected a little more meat.
Pretty good flavors, but nothing mind blowing. I would have liked the meats warmer and the bun too. Nice outdoor patio area. Personally, I don't like having to line up and order at the counter and theb be asked to give 20% plus tip at time of payment. No pricing on the drinks available either, which is an unwelcome tactic.
This place is definitely worth a visit. Those who read my reviews know that I almost never give 5 stars, but I would have for this place except for a couple of minor issues. Let's start with the good. We met the owner, and he seems like a good guy. Kind and friendly, as were all of his staff. The wine was superb, and reasonably priced. My two guests and I shared a bottle. The fries were excellent; perfectly seasoned, crispy on the outside, soft in the middle. One of my guests enjoyed the spicy ketchup they came with, but my other guest and I stuck with the ranch. Honestly, they don't need much dipping sauce. My guest thoroughly enjoyed their entrees, one had one of the macaroni and cheese dishes and the other had the chicken salad. My guest who had the chicken salad even had about half of it to take home with her because it was a generous portion. Sadly, I don't think that I can try their macaroni and cheese because they appear to use truffle oil, and I'm allergic to mushrooms (I'm not sure if that extends to truffles) but it's a good culinary choice. The bananas foster bread pudding was out of this world good. Now to the only negatives, with some understanding. My entree, the tri-tip sandwich, was alright but underwhelming. It didn't have much sauce, and I didn't ask for more sauce because I wasn't impressed with the sauce. The meat itself was at least tender and juicy. The chips (the side I chose) were boring, and half of them were chewy. The seating is all outdoors, and that's fine if it's not chilly or sweltering. It was a chilly evening when we went, but it wasn't a big negative. The only other negative is that you have to stand in line to order, and they don't want you to sit at the tables before you order. However, no one raised any problems for me when I sat down while my guests ordered for all of us. I'm disabled, and just can't stand in a line that long. They were able to take our dessert orders at the table, so at least I didn't have to stand in line for that. All in all, we'll probably go back at a time when the weather is better. It was a good experience.
The staff were pleasant and courteous. The atmosphere was very nice. I ordered the Mac and Brisket with a side salad. The flavor was just ok. The brisket portion was skimpy at best. Differently not worth the price. I will add that every restaurant has bad days. With so many other choices near by I doubt I'll go back. Sorry Jeffry's
Last time I visited this restaurant was over a year ago and the food was very good and served warm. Tonight we ordered the brisket and Rib tray and added two ribs. It was brought out fairly quickly and brisket and ribs were cold. Brisket was cut in small pieces and extremely dry. Very disappointed. Would probably not go back. Should have sent the food back and asked to warm them but the brisket was so dry it wasn't worth it
We went here with high expectations based on recommendations from friends. We live in the area and had not ever tried it. Have to say it was a big disappointment. The brisket and pulled pork were both good, but the chicken was very bland and watery. They only have one sauce, which is very sweet—not bad but just a bit of a sugar bomb. Would have been nice to have something vinegar-based as well as something mustard-based. The Mac and cheese was terrible. It’s the only time in my life I have left Mac and cheese in the bowl. It had this weird underlying fishy taste. Guessing it is from the cheese? But it was bad. Good drink list and nice patio, servers were very attentive and friendly. Patio is dog-friendly.
